Went here Saturday night shortly after 8 pm. It wasn't busy at all; everyone inside was only sitting at the bar. Lots of tvs inside with different games showing on them. Waitress was informative on menu items and also very attentive. To drink: I got their Saturday special, a $6 Strawberry Margarita (8/10) it was good and decently strong. Got to taste a sip of their Hunch Punch (0/10) tasted like nothing but pineapple juice and no alcohol, unfortunately. To eat: we started with the Grande Nachos with chicken (8.5/10) they were flavorful and actually pretty tasty though appearance wise, we were nervous on how'd they taste. I also ordered the Southwest Steak Wrap (5/10) I ended up having to send my plate back because my steak wasn't cooked medium, it was originally far past well done and hard. I had asked also for no tomatoes, but they were put on my wrap. The waitress was kind and apologetic about the mess up though, and quickly put in for me to get a new wrap made. Overall, I just didn't find the wrap flavorful at all and didn't like the taste of it. My steak was cooked perfectly the second time around though. We had take out from there yesterday. It was meh...I had the chicken strips with fries. You would think pretty its hard to mess up, but those were they most flavorless strips I have every had tasted more like they only used flour without any seasoning in it and by the time I got home most the breading had fallen off. Fries were not batter fried like we ordered. My daughter got a mushroom burger of course she has NEVER had a bad burger so I really don't trust her opinion of the meal, but she had the same complaint about the fries. The service and food at this location has gone so far downhill. We have been 3 times in the last 2-3 months. All 3 times, servers are MIA for 10+ minutes right when you sit down. Great food, great people, great atmosphere... practically live here. Always have a great time. Glad you got the skill machines back. Really happy you brought hotdogs on...Now to add them to the standard menu! Two problems I am having though.... 1) Why,why,why did ownership make it so you cannot play corn hole any longer. I come here for foot ball in the fall... used to come here in the off season to play corn hole, now the lights are strung up in such a fashion, you can't throw the bags.... 2) What is up with removing the windows in the front?? This opens up so many potential problems it's not funny. Been coming here for the better part of 12 years and this is a real head scratcher. Bad move in my opinion. This decision has now made it so you can't have private parties here any longer. This was a real seller here because if somebody wanted a private party, they could go down there and don't have to worry about the rest of the bar noise. We've hosted several parties 25 people are better and we use that room because we didn't have to deal with the rest of the bar. I came in for a drink after Christmas shopping. There wasn't a lot of people there so I sat at the bar. The bartender Trevor was on top of it and professional. We did not have an easy group but we were very well taken care of and very appreciative of the attentive service and patience with multiple orders and groups. Went to dinner with wife and another couple. Three of them had burgers which were WELL done! I had the Philly Chesesteak and it was dry and did not have much cheese on it! The pickle was room temp and I prefer them ice cold. The onion rings were greasy and some were overcooked! I have had better meals at this place in the past. They removed the glass partition on one side of the bar and the noise from the bar during football is unbearable. We moved to the other side of the bar where the glass is still in place. I went here with my family. It was awesome! Danielle was our server, and she was great! if the owner sees this, she deserves all of the praise. She was perfectly attentive, she checked up on us just the right amount, and was delightful. Thanks for such a great time! The food itself came out piping hot and fresh. We had wings, cheese curds, and fish tacos. Everything was delicious. Our cups of water were never empty, and we did not have to flag anyone down for seconds or for refills. I picked up carry out corned beef and cabbage. It was awful. The corned beef was dried out and very tough. The potatoes and cabbage were OK, but under seasoned. They had apparently nuked the food to warm it up, because the roll was like concrete. Someone needs to give their cook some training. Won't be going back. Went to new Kellys off of kempsville--- new location. waited 30 + minutes for cold cut sandwich then went to ladies room-- told our waitress there were paper or hand towels she litterely tossed me paper towels on the table which we slready had--no word to me -- but still no food. when i said can we have our drink tab she brought it-- i asked do you want to know why we are leaving she just stood there and after i explained she just said have a good day.. after all this never brought our order but heard her pushing our order on the people behind us even though they said they did not order sourdough bread-- we did!! read more

Those we about average. My Mom ordered a French onion soup, she liked it. I ordered the shepherds pie, it was BAD!!! I displayed my utter disgust - this is where the servers kicked into steam. There are multiple Kelly's locations throughout Hampton Roads. I have visited quite a few of them. This location is relatively new and it falls short of the other locations. First off, this place could aptly be named "Blah's sports bar" and it would probably fit better than the tavern. When we first came in, you get the option of smoking or no smoking. Which is something that I can honestly say I haven't had to deal with for awhile. However, we did the non-smoking and were sat accordingly. I'd assume that the smoking area was in the central area where the main bar was. Upon sitting down the very first thing I noticed was how rickety our table was. Thinking that it was the legs, I tried to fix it. However, the problem was the section that tied to the legs. It was rather annoying having to deal with a continually tilting table that would make us quiver at our beers every time we pushed on the table. Then the booth we sat at had the "teeter-totter" effect where if I leaned back, I pushed the person behind me and vice versa. I hate to nit pick but for a facility that is relatively new, to have a booth or seat like this is unacceptable. Furniture-wise it can only go downhill from there. The second thing I noticed upon sitting down was how "distant" I felt from all the action of the restaurant. The non-smoking section lies on the outer perimeter of the bar and in order to make sure zero smoke goes from the inside out, they have to seal the two areas off from each other. Now, did I smell any smoke where I sat? Nope. However, I felt like I was an outsider the whole time as it seemed like the bar and sports area was the focus while the seats on the perimeter were for the lowly porters who want table scraps. Definitely, not a good "feel" for a dinner. For our food we ordered some mozzarella sticks, I had the Au Jus sauce philly, and my wife had the garden veggie wrap. The food came out relatively quick. We were very appreciative of how fast the food came out. However, speed doesn't always mean a good thing. The food does not stand out - at all. The sticks seemed like something you could order from a fast food italian place. The philly I had was VERY basic. It was pretty much a run of the mill philly with some dipping sauce on the side. Lastly, the Garden Veggie wrap was just as "meh". For a suggestion, if they could pull out the bleu cheese and substitute it for feta, that may make a substantial improvement on the wrap as it is over-powered by the volume of bleu cheese they put on it. Service-wise our waitress was pretty awesome. We tipped her great and she was nothing but fun and helpful. A+ on her part as smiling, checking on us, and making sure we were satisfied was high on her agenda as with everyone else she was serving. It's just too bad she has to deal the food she deals. If you're a smoker and are a sports fan, this is definitely the place for you. I can only imagine how hard it is to find a bar where you can smoke, drink, eat food, and watch the games is becoming. But for date night for non-sports people, there are other options in the area that may work better for you. It seems that every year or 2 I have to return and try a Kelly's. Not sure why I keep going back other than years ago I really enjoyed them. Now it just always seems to be another disappointing meal. I am not sure what happened, but it seems up until 2014 they were much better! The service today was good server was friendly. Kitchen was a little slow getting food out. My burger was ok but way over cooked asked for medium and it was fully well done. Wife's tuna tacos were ordered rare and they were medium at best. The food is decent but the price is noticeably high on some items especially for basic fried foods. It's a bar with bar food and a different sport on every TV. Good music and good vibes, definitely a bar but fine to bring your kids and they do have a good kids menu and bring crayons which is nice. The first thing to hit you when you walk in this location is "generic" no theme automated restaurant. Very sterile feeling and smelling, we were not impressed. Sitting down, looking over the menu invoked memories of looking at new cars. The prices are absolutely outrageous. $10 for a hamburger; $13 for 4 chicken tenders. Hardee's was around the corner and we could have spent $12 and gotten not only better food, but better service. We FINALLY got to place our order at 240p, and waited. Their free wifi was nice, but slow, as Kelly's, like most places, opted for cheap, ancient wifi technology instead of the more modern b/g/n/ac WiFi units. Why spend $100 when you can get bi with a cheapie at $20, right? The food arrived 7 minutes later, which is a great turn around time. The fries, while generous in quantity, were horrid. Over done, and they need to change the grease. Tasted like it was months old. The. Hi Jen tenders my girlfriend ordered were smallish, probably from a bag purchased at 24 for $10. Nothing special or to write home about My burger, on the other hand, was pretty good. I ordered it with egg, bacon and cheese. Nice, thick patty, cooked exactly how I wanted it - medium rare. I could not eat the entire sandwich - wish I could have! All in all, not too bad, but while the burger was worth $7 or $8, it was not worth $10. Well what do I say about Kelly's let's see so I use to love coming here but it's been awhile I got invited out to Kelly's I accept and go I'm like yay I can finally get the mozzarella balls that I love some much as well as some steak bites...they finally come out after a reasonable amount of time only for me to find out that they've changed the mozzarella balls to these this that hold onto oil...it's like they fried them then bumped them onto our serving dish...full of oil...gross I couldn't even eat them...now onto the steak bites they were alright not the best thing also they didn't cook them MR (medium rare) like specified...the burgers where good the server was alright he could be a bit more attentive but whatever I'll be back for happy hour read more

My wife and I went there tonight for dinner to try a new place. The service would have been roughly average but the restaurant was half empty so it could have been better. As for the food, I'm not going to beat around the bush, it was just awful. We ordered the boneless chicken bits (I got BBQ and my wife got Buffalo) and both orders were chewy, tasteless, and obviously just cheap, frozen chicken that was reheated. After a few bites, we stopped eating them. Then the main courses came out. I got a Tavern Burger which I ordered based on the description and ordered it medium-well; I was grossly disappointed as it was not even close to the description. The onions and mushrooms were RAW not sauteed. The cheddar cheese was a cheese sauce in the amount of a quarter. The burger itself was bland, overcooked, and just poorly made. I took two or three bites and couldn't bring myself to finish that either. My wife ordered a burger also, the same thing. She ate less than half of hers and pushed it aside too. We also both got sweet potato fries and to no surprise at this point were soggy, bland, and greasy. How do you mess up sweet potato fries? We skipped dessert, and I would say 75% of the food we ordered ended up going in the garbage as we refused to bring any of it home with us. The only thing they got right was the beer my wife had and the diet Pepsi I got. Basically, I wanted to speak to the manager to complain about the food, but we did not as we just wanted to get out of there at that point. I am honestly taken aback that the waitress wasn't clued in that we didn't like the food seeing how much of it we didn't eat. It was not worth the money we paid and we most assuredly will not be returning there. Worst service I've experienced in years. Truly, the service is so bad that I'm typing instead of eating. The waiter acts as if he can't be bothered. How about asking if I'd like a refill (hint, more money?) or if the food is good? The "fixings" for my fajitas came out 20 minutes or more before the fajitas themselves. I've heard several people in our section complain in the 1.5 hours we've waited for dinner. I don't complain, but this warrants a post. What's sad is, the food isn't horrible.
