We kept trying to give them the benefit of the doubt even after a grossly overcharged visit but most recently, their techs forgot to reconnect our water heater upon leaving (they brought the wrong parts and couldn't fix the problem) so we were stuck over the weekend with no hot water and no response. There are too many plumbing companies in our area to continue to use one that just can't seem to provide quality service at a decent price and NOT leave you in the lurch. We are done with A Tech.

We paid more than $58,000 to replace the plumbing in our duplex in 2022. The bid said, "This bid…read moreincludes installing all new drain piping for both units and connecting it to the existing main sewer line.... Includes replacing the plumbing in (3) bathrooms, (1) kitchen sink and (1) washer, as needed." Three years after the work was done, we found out that the copper drainline from the sink of one of the bathrooms had fallen out of the cast-iron wet vent and was dumping water between the walls. This section of the house was built in 1949, so this was not a surprise. Atech was very quick to send out a crew and even quicker to say that because the leak involved an air vent, it was not their responsibility. By their logic, the drain line from this bathroom was not included in the work to replace the drain lines from the bathrooms because it was also a vent pipe. What hurt was that we paid a premium because we needed a plumber who would help us with an old house and avoid these kinds of issues. We are not construction experts. We trusted Atech. We were left with a precarious system that predictably failed. Then we were treated to a weekend of silence and an explanation that the bid was really just for the plumbing under the house. (There was no mention of this in the bid.) Worst of all, the plumbers cut multiple holes into that same wall to replace the supply lines to the sink in 2022. It could have been and was an easy fix. But not by Atech. Atech does great work and charges a premium. But don't fool yourself, like we did, and think that means they will take care of you.

And by the way Kinsey Plumbing managers, Johnny Salazar is top notch. The block in the line prevented us from using almost any other water in the house because it backed up into the bathroom at that point. The fix was over $700 to inspect the line with a camera, determine a toilet had to be removed and the line scoured to clear it and help prevent another blockage. But I knew the cost up front. So, what are the POSITIVES? Really good service. First this happened on Labor Day! I called Kinsey Plumbing and I actually reached a person! (Head exploding emoji here) I was put in the cue for ASAP the next day. Around 8 a.m. I received a call my tech is on the way. They texted me a picture and name of the employee who was on the way. Just as my coffee was finished brewing Johnny Salazar was here. The line was inspected, and the guaranteed cost was given to me beforehand. It was drawn up on his tablet and ready to sign. I could have said no and tried to get another company and I would have been out only a few bucks for the inspection. But I went ahead. Johnny was very respectful of my elderly mother and handicaped brother in the house and politely gave them a minute to wake up and get their housecoats on and settle in the living room and then he got to work. He was efficient and quickly moved the toilet, cleared the line and did a nice job replacing and caulking the toilet. Oh, and I had a handle on the toilet he fixed as a 'while I'm in here' gesture, too. No extra charge since I had the part. I received a text from the company a little later to ask if I was satisfied with the service and how could they improve. Look, plumbing can be expensive to fix. I get it. But service deserves to be rewarded in an industry that has so many people eager to just slap something together, grab the dinero and go. I like Kinsey and I will use them again when needed.

Rooterman has changed over the years and, unfortunately, not in a good way. My first review of them…read morewas in 2015 so that tells you that I have been a customer for a very long time. The focus of this review is the water heater that they installed on 1/26/23. As you can see from my other reviews, the water heater that was installed before that one was in 2016. 7 years is a reasonable amount of time for a water heater to last. The problem is that the anode rod is failing in this current one. Edie came out and drained it on June 29th. We are not currently living there. In fact, the house is for sale. The problem was the hot water was turning yellow. He said to run the hot water, especially in the tub upstairs once a week, which we have been doing despite living across town now. Guess what? The hot water is yellow in tint again. Here's the rub. At the top of my receipt it says 50 gallon water heater, 6 year essential warranty. Fast forward to yesterday. Garrett comes out and notes the yellowish tint in the hot water. So, he says he can maybe replace the anode rod for about $500. He also says I can try calling AO Smith to see if they will send a new water heater and they will install it for about 2K. So, this is like going to a mechanic and a part fails and they say, why don't you call the company and see if they will send you a new part? I am pretty sure that is not a thing. By the way, he tried to get the anode rod out and it is welded solid in there. I told him we would give a credit to a potential buyer but after talking to my husband I realize that is not a good approach. It is already a brutal market to try to sell a home. So, I am faced with having to replace it although I have a document that says at the top 6 year essential warranty. That makes no sense. I will have to bid it out and Rooterman will not be on the list. They replaced the heater in 2016 and then again in 2023. I had no qualms in having them install it in 2023 because they had my complete trust. This is no longer the case. I no longer recommend Rooterman Plumbing. I gave them 2 stars because they used to do a good and honest job for me. I no longer feel that this is the case.
