I never lie to my fellow Yelpers. I had some ticket shock at the cost of the unblocking of my wastewater line. BUT, there is a positive to the service that I have to bear in mind, too.... especially given the dire circumstances. And you'll see why the sticker shock still gets four stars. And by the way Kinsey Plumbing managers, Johnny Salazar is top notch. The block in the line prevented us from using almost any other water in the house because it backed up into the bathroom at that point. The fix was over $700 to inspect the line with a camera, determine a toilet had to be removed and the line scoured to clear it and help prevent another blockage. But I knew the cost up front. So, what are the POSITIVES? Really good service. First this happened on Labor Day! I called Kinsey Plumbing and I actually reached a person! (Head exploding emoji here) I was put in the cue for ASAP the next day. Around 8 a.m. I received a call my tech is on the way. They texted me a picture and name of the employee who was on the way. Just as my coffee was finished brewing Johnny Salazar was here. The line was inspected, and the guaranteed cost was given to me beforehand. It was drawn up on his tablet and ready to sign. I could have said no and tried to get another company and I would have been out only a few bucks for the inspection. But I went ahead. Johnny was very respectful of my elderly mother and handicaped brother in the house and politely gave them a minute to wake up and get their housecoats on and settle in the living room and then he got to work. He was efficient and quickly moved the toilet, cleared the line and did a nice job replacing and caulking the toilet. Oh, and I had a handle on the toilet he fixed as a 'while I'm in here' gesture, too. No extra charge since I had the part. I received a text from the company a little later to ask if I was satisfied with the service and how could they improve. Look, plumbing can be expensive to fix. I get it. But service deserves to be rewarded in an industry that has so many people eager to just slap something together, grab the dinero and go. I like Kinsey and I will use them again when needed. read more

Called Kinsey and advised they could come today, which is great but the other reviewers are correct they are way over priced. Shop around, $700 to change out a kitchen faucet. Should have let Lowes install it $175. Not the plumber's fault. After hours was not a factor, that's what they charge. read more

Ridiculous pricing. The technicians are great. Speed of service was good. But having an 11 month old water heater that needed 2 heating elements replaced was not good. Then the bill came, $876.46. I called to complain and asked for a manger or owner to call. I was offered a $200 credit during the call. I have called back twice to ask when I might expect a return call. STILL WAITING for the CALL and credit. I suggest you look to other companies to provide you reasonably priced service. read more

We were quoted $39 for diagnostics, but charged $98. When I asked, we were told that we were given misinformation because you just acquired the HVAC sector of business and plumbing is a $39 diagnostic charge. It's not our fault y'all have wrong info, but you refused to honor it. Your prices aren't listed on your website, so clearly, we were given wrong information. This was not a misunderstanding on our end. In addition, your guy quoted me $400 for a job that two others were quoting $200 for. I highly recommend Kinsey Plumbing. My expansion tank above water heater exploded. Home warranty doesn't cover exp tanks, so knowing that I'd be paying out of pocket, I immediately called them to do the work. They scheduled me for the next morning. Devin arrived on time, which was wonderful. He first checked the water pressure to my house, which was way too high. Then he replaced my expansion tank and piping to the water heater. Inspected both water heaters and relit pilot lights. Fixed water pressure to the house. I know Sun City customers love Kinsey, but this home owner in Leander does too. I made an appointment with Kinsey Plumbing Services to replace a toilet and vanity for my powder room. They list bathroom remodel on their website. I have all the materials. When the technician arrived, he said that he did not have adhesive to install the sink portion of the vanity, but could do everything else for $1500. This seems ridiculous for an incomplete job. Then, without asking for it, he gave me a quote to replace my water softener for $7500. I simply wanted a functional powder room. read more

I called late yesterday with an overflowing toilet issue, was *crappy* if you know what I mean- and the guy I talked to was so friendly, offered information to help, and ultimately we decided we'd rather have someone out to come work on it. They got here early today, they called ahead and sent a text (with a photo of the technician, Johnny) which is appreciated as a courtesy and safety feature. Johnny was AWESOME, and explained things to us, didn't push anything and also offered educational info while he was here. Price was reasonable for fix and he was in and out. Communication was fantastic and immediate, and a plumber was sent out on a Sunday to deal with a borked installation of an outdoor hose bibb. However, as someone with experience working in the trades I felt as though I was being oversold. I had mentioned that I had already purchased multiple hose bibbs, but the quote I received for swapping out 4 hose bibbs was $750+. Turns out that each bibb was quoted at ~$175. That's an insane markup for hardware that costs ~$10 at your local Home Depot, but furthermore I had already purchased the bibbs and they were sitting right in front of both of us as the quote was being written up. Had I not pushed back on this, I would have paid an arm and a leg for a very simple job. As it was, I ended up turning down most of the work and just asked to have the botched install fixed for $170 which I felt was on the expensive side, but reasonable for a fixed price job. read more

DONT DO IT! I am writing this review because we were scammed by this company. They sound like they know what they are talking about when they are in your house. We had a clog issue in our kitchen sink and it was overflowing near my water softener from a pipe coming out of the wall. They charged me 1,300 dollars to remove the water softener and then the issue was worse. At the end of it we paid 1700 dollars and they will not do anything to help refund our money for falsifying the problem. They expect you to know the plumbing issues. Don't waste your money with these guys. Legal action will be taken. read more

This is a warning if you are thinking of calling Kinsey Plumbing. I was charged $392.13 for snaking a toilet drain. It took less than 30 minutes. I had removed the Commode, making the job much easier, but as manager Brandon explained Johnny decided to use the large cable making the charge almost double what the smaller cable would have been. He would have used the small cable if the Commode was in place. I know, it makes NO SENSE. I would have been fine if Johnny had tried and failed with the smaller cable then utilized the larger one. read more

Very negative experience. Said they would be out between 3 and 6 PM. Came after 6. I had told them I would need washer faucets/valves replaced. They came without the parts to perform the repairs. They said they would send another plumber with parts the next day and quoted me $448. They came the next day but again, without the parts they knew they needed to perfrom the repairs, and then quoted me over $800 for the work. We looked up the average cost of the same repairs in Central Texas and the high end was about $250. The extreme price difference made no sense so I declined to have them do the work. They charged me $39. I wasted two days and $39. It seems clear that Kinsey Plumbing is over-charging their customers. I would not recommend them. read more

Unfortunately we have had several needs for plumbing services in the past 12 months. We went with Reliant last year and that was a very poor experience on many levels--cost, service, result, etc. While I can often do most home plumbing repairs - replace toilets, snake lines 25', blow out A/C lines, etc---we had a leak in the wall from a toilet line and needed someone fast. Sound familiar? Called at 1:00pm, Kinsey/Manny Amezquita arrived within 2 hours, diagnosed the problem ($40 dispatch fee/$160 fee to open wall). Had to come back to have work done the next morning so kept water shut off which sucked; but, repair needed to the 1 pipe that was leaking--required soldering--and 2 other pipes looked ready to go so we had all 3 repaired. While any unexpected cost is "costly" we were comfortable with $$ and work was done efficiently and effectively. read more

I own a home inn round rock that I am renting out. On Thursday at 9:30pm, my tenants saw water pouring out of the waterline in the front yard. The city came out and confirmed it was on my side (yay....). Turned off the water, and I started making phone calls. Left a message and within 10 minutes, Kinsey called me back. Very polite and professional. They were at my house by 11:30am On Friday. Kinsey texted me and my tenant letting us know the ETA and a photo of the technician, Cody. LOVE THIS. They gave me different options to repair or replace along with pricing. Within an hour the technician and another guy were fixing the issue to my liking--and my tenants had their water back! AND there's a two year warranty on the labor and parts. Thank you so much, Cody, and also to the awesome lady who expedited my issue! Do not use this plumbing company!!! I was charged nearly $950 to replace a garbage disposal and to replace a bathroom faucet. Outrageous pricing is all I can call it. I supplied the replacement faucet and garbage disposal. This was simply the labor charge. The time to complete the job was two hours. That equates to a little more than $450 per hour. UNBELIEVABLE!!! We were referred to Kinsey when we discovered that we had a leaking water pipe under our home. VERY expensive fix, but I guess understandably so. The operation entailed the digging of a huge hole next to and under our house and the two stars in this rating are for the work that was done. The lack of any further stars has to do with terrible customer service. That hole, still there as I write this in in mid-May, has been gaping open since early March along with a lovely pile of limestone that was dug up and a mountain of dirt under a tarp. With every rain, I have a new lake under my home, that I have dubbed the Mosquito Sea. Moreover, I have young adventurous grandkids who visit often and play in my backyard. We have to supervise very closely as they are attracted to that mysterious and dangerous hole. Before we can close the hole up, the city inspector has to approve the plumbing work. But when he got here, the hole was so muddy, he just peeked in and didn't climb down for a closer inspection. He asked instead that Kinsey send pictures of the work they did. Easy enough. At least three phone calls and several weeks later I am simply trying to get a confirmation from Kinsey that they sent the photos and documentation to the inspector, and when they sent it. James the receptionist is very pleasant with his repeated "I'm sorry no one has called you back," but these guys have two phone numbers (my wife's and mine) and my email address. So the only conclusion I can come to is either that a) they haven't submitted the documentation yet, or b) that they just don't care enough to call me back. I'm not sure which hacks me more, but my "caveat emptor" point to readers is that there are a lot of plumbers out there. If you value good customer service, my advice is to avoid this one. read more

I have used Kinsey Plumbing Services for years. And I have worked with several technicians, they were all professional and knowledgeable. Today, I had an emergency issue on a Sunday. I called at 7:15am, thinking I was going to leave a message, but Karly answered and set me up with a technician quickly. John was on point! Looking for the issue, asking detailed questions and going above and beyond to get our issue resolved. Everything was resolved. We have an older home, septic system and there is always something to fix or improve upon. I received an estimate for repairs from Kinsey. Here's the breakdown: Flush & drain water heater Replace 2 sets of elements Replace upper and lower thermostats Replace T&P pull Replace anode rod Total Price: $789.00 I thought the estimate above was a bit high so I did some research online. Watched a couple YouTube videos for how to replace the items in the estimate and then went to Home Depot for the parts. Here's the breakdown on price for parts at Home Depot: Electric Water Heater Tune-Up Kit, includes 2 sets of elements and upper and lower thermostat: $27.97 Anode rod: $24.98 T&P pull: $16.97 Time it took me to replace all items after draining water heater: 120 mins Total cost out of my pocket: $69.92 I understand that if I went with Kinsey that I would be expected to pay for the cost of parts and labor. Lets mark the parts up and say parts were $100. I'm sure the technician at Kinsey could have replaced the items much faster than I since I'm a novice. So lets say all items were installed in 1 hour. That means Kinsey would be charging me a whooping $689 for 1 HOUR OF LABOR, ARE YOU KIDDING ME !!! I have one word to explain all of this: UNETHICAL read more

Little to know experience would be the description of the guy they sent out. He spent most of his time talking to another plumber, in his truck, driving back and forth to Lowe's and Home Depot. Blamed Lowe's for putting the parts in the wrong place. I suggest he reads the box before buying. On the high average my job should have been 365.00 to replace the seal and a flange that who knows if we or they broke it. They charged over 886.00. I hope they enjoy it for there will be no more. When I asked for some sort of discount due to the outrageous price and time they took I was flat out told no per the manager per the employee. This job should have took about an hour and a half and they were here for the better part of one day and most of the morning the next. Don't waste your time with this company like I did. They came to my home over three weeks ago to take a look at the issues I'm having with my bathroom toilet and pipes. I was told that they would send me some estimates and let me know when they can do the work. I didn't hear back. I called their office several times to try to find out if they are going to help me fix the issues and to get the estimates. Each time they tell me that someone will call me or email me back, but they never did. I guess they don't want any more customers. First, major kudos to Shawn C. My husband and I are eternally grateful for you coming out to our house to trouble shoot and replace our hot water heater. Even though we had to postpone our work trip overseas, your sage advice, advice and patience while we decided in which replacement system to go with, was very much appreciated!!!! We were heading out to the airport early Saturday morning and discovered our garage was flooded due to a broken hot water heater. Around 0900 I called every plumbing service in the Georgetown area that I knew of and no one/no one had limited weekend hours, much less an emergency all call number!!!! I was shocked by this. I wondered what people in the area did when they had a plumbing emergency cause ours sure was one. I called Brittany plumbing who never called us when their office opened on Monday. Rude. I called Walker Plumbing. Same thing....no weekend emergency number, but they at least called Monday at 0900. I strongly suggested they at least have someone on call in the event of an emergency, but I think it fell on deaf ears. I politely stated that Kinsey was the only service that had a plumber in call and I would happily give mega kudos to them. I remembered our neighborhood go to book had Plumbing Services listed and called Kinsey Plumbing Services. When I called Kinsey that Saturday, at first I was shocked to hear a lady on the other end to the point I asked her if she was real. Lol! She calmly took my info down stated she would pass the details to Shawn who lived 40 mins away. I said I could wait and was very grateful that they were able to assist us. Shawn arrived as quickly as he could, gave us the bad news and quickly shut off the artery to the problem. He was very patient and waited with me until my husband returned home, provided the different costs for the same replacement water heater and the cost for a tankless water heater. We opted for the tankless one. Shawn is the kindest, extremely patient, most gentle person who explained things in layman terms for me. He was true to his words when he said he would return first thing Monday morning to remove the old contraption and replace it with the new tankless heater. Shawn was prompt!!! So prompt that his office didn't know he was already at our house to replace the hot water heater. I met his boss one day and raved about Shawn. Though he is very quiet, he truly is a great guy who knows his job well. I obviously think very highly of Shawn and Kinsey Plumbing Services. Thank you!!! read more

I hope my experience is the exception rather than the rule. I called Kinsey due to the great reviews to have a new dishwasher installed, new faucet and new disposal installed and was promptly and courteously scheduled. Upon arrival, the plumber said they do not do dishwasher installation because they are not electricians. I called the office back to find out what was going on and why would they even schedule me. The lady said the service manager would call me back and he never did. I told the plumber who came that there was nothing he could help with since we can't get the dishwasher installed. Now, it's a weekend, I am without running water in my kitchen and on top of that, it's the week of New Years. I'm sure I will go another week now getting someone else out here... Whatever you do, do not call Kinsey Plumbing to install a dishwasher. read more
