I gave this dealership multiple chances over a 4 to 5 year period and used them as my exclusive service provider, but over time a clear pattern of issues made it difficult to continue trusting their work. On my two most recent oil changes, my check engine light came on within 2 to 3 days afterward for emissions-related issues. The vehicle had never had a check engine light before these visits. Since I stopped taking it here, the issue has not returned, which was a major relief. After a 100,000-mile service that included a valve adjustment, I developed an oil leak from the valve cover area. Prior to that service, the vehicle had never had any oil leaks. It was frustrating to go from a properly sealed engine to dealing with a new leak immediately after a major service. There was also an issue with the serpentine belt. It was replaced during that same 100,000-mile service. Only a few months later, when my wife brought the car in for a routine visit, she was told the belt needed to be replaced again due to age and mileage, and it was replaced a second time. This was especially frustrating because it had already been recently replaced. When I followed up, the duplicate charge was converted into a service credit, but actually using it became an ongoing issue. Each visit brought a different explanation for why it could not be applied. Eventually, I was told the credit was lost due to a system change, which effectively meant I paid for the service twice without resolution. On multiple visits, the engine oil was overfilled even after specifically requesting that it not be. This happened enough times that I started checking it myself before leaving and had to ask them to correct it on the spot. Brake service was another disappointing experience. I was charged $125 for a single rotor (not including labor), which I later found selling for $25 at Walmart. The repair did not resolve the issue I was having. I ended up redoing the work myself and purchased two Brembo rotors for the rear for $120 total, which was less than what I paid here for a single rotor. While correcting it myself, I discovered that basic steps like lubrication and hardware replacement had not been done, which explained why the issue persisted until I fixed it. I was also quoted around $1,500 per axle for shock replacement using aftermarket parts, which felt significantly out of line with typical pricing, especially given the parts used were not OEM. I understand dealership service is typically more expensive, but I still expected accurate recommendations, proper workmanship, and appropriate parts for the cost. Went in to get a sensor, they gave us the wrong one, we told them it was not correct, but they INSISTED it had to be correct. We went home to install it and SURPRISE! It wasn't the right one. I bought a Honda CR-V from Ken Garff last May. When I bought it, I paid for a package that included three free oil changes within the first year. After a few months, I took it in for its first oil change (since owning it). I waited a little over an hour for it to be finished, and then I was on my way. When I got home, I realized that it was leaking oil, so I took it back to have it fixed. After they looked at the problem, they told me that someone who had the car before me had stripped the drain plug and put a larger after-market cap in its place, and that's why it was leaking oil. Then, they quoted me $1,000 for a new oil pan. I am a college student, meaning that I'm not made of money, and I'm also not stupid. The car was not leaking oil when I bought it or throughout the several months that I owned it prior to them changing my oil. They stripped my drain plug when changing my oil and tried to blame it on a previous owner and make me pay for a new oil pan. The service worker even said, "Well, we can try to wiggle the price down to $900," which pretty much solidified in my mind that they did something wrong and were trying to get me to pay for it. I consulted my sales associate, who sold me the car, and he said he would make it right. A few days later, he told me that I could bring it in to be fixed, free of charge. The next time I brought it in for its scheduled maintenance oil change, I waited a little over an hour, went home with the car, and it started leaking oil again. I had to bring it back on a Saturday to have them fix it. Apparently the filter was tilted/wasn't put in correctly, and I had to wait another hour for them to fix it. I don't think I will be taking it back for any more oil changes, and I will just do them myself. It was a really frustrating experience each time. Though the issues were fixed, I probably won't get over the fact that they blamed me for a problem that didn't arise until they changed my oil. Bought a car from them back in March. The license and title agent "forgot" to request the information for our plates and registration on time. We finally called to see what was going on, and she sent the documents the day our temp plate expired (so we had to get another temp plate) and to make matters worse she sent it to a permanently closed DMV location. Our information and personal data was never recovered and is permanently lost. Fast forward over month later, still no replacements in had to send us another temp plate and start over. Fast forward another month, and she finally sends it again but once I waited in the tax assessors office for the third time they told me she sent the check for the wrong amount. Four months after I bought my car and 4 tax assessors office visits later, I finally have my car registered. Not happy, would not buy from them again, extremely unorganized and chaotic, especially when it comes to safeguarding your personal information. They were always on top of calling me when parts arrived, fast with the repair, and were kind to me while helping me get through an expensive patch. Frank put in some hard work and got me a hell of a deal! He is a great guy, same with Josh, I've been helped by them both many times and I appreciate how much they care about the customer. Went with my 84 yr old mother to buy her car at the end of a lease. They added an extended warranty $2800, emmisions $30, doc fee $299, sales tax about $1300. We refused the extended warranty. He took it off and told us to take this to the credit union. They told us this sales contact is not what they need. Honda finance provided us with the correct documents. The payoff included the sales tax. None of the $4300 in fees mentioned above was needed. They knew they were trying to scam us for $4300. Buyer beware of this Honda Dealer. read more

This review reflects my experience at Ken Garff Honda Riverdale and not any other Ken Garff dealership. I have not had an issue with any other Ken Garff dealership. I went in to Ken Garff Honda Riverdale with the intent to purchase a vehicle. Immediately, the salesperson I was "assigned to," Jordan Halley, treated me like my presence was of the utmost inconvenience. Meanwhile, my five year old and three year old were running around. Daniel King, another salesperson, spent the next half of an hour entertaining my kids. He was patient and very kind. When we left the dealership, my kids asked about their new friend, Dan. Back to Jordan and the rest of my experience. I located the vehicle I wanted and it had 81 miles on it and was FILTHY! Jordan allowed us to test drive the vehicle by ourselves because he wanted to take another customer who was looking to buy. We left the dealership. Coming back the next day, we worked with Dan and Marna, as Jordan had the day off. They both were amazing! They were very accommodating and patient. They even accommodated me having to leave to go to work. They met me at my work for me to sign papers. About six days later, I was contacted by Jordan who stated I need to come in and re-sign papers because Honda came back with different financing than we originally signed for. Jordan stated if I don't come re-sign, I have to return the car. After some back and forth, the dealership ate the difference and we re-signed for the car. Jordan pulled me aside after signing new papers and stated that if had been there the day we purchased, nothing would have been messed up. Jordan stated Dan was the one who messed up. There was no real apology by Jordan. If Jordan and the financing issue had been eliminated from this deal, this could have been a five star ordeal. read more

Thank you we were without a good car for months and now that trouble is in the past ! We liked our experience here because we were able to get the make and model we liked and for a okay price . To improve I would like the marketing team to design better flyers for their add on services like appearance protection , tire protection , and extended warranties . Came in to get a new key, a single key for a HONDA cost $180. A joke on its own. Then, they decide to wash my car WITHOUT asking. I pay a lot of money and spend a lot of time keeping my car in immaculate condition. Automated car washes scratch paint, and it's well known in the car industry. This flagrant disregard for my property is absolutely disgusting. DO NOT get your car serviced here. I bought a 2012 Honda Accord on Saturday from Ken Garff Ogden and the check engine light came on on Tuesday. I took it to the SLC branch and they found that basic maintenance had not been done in Ogden and the car was leaking oil. Things that Ken Garff Ogden should have found and fixed before putting the car up for sale. Ken Garff Ogden said they would only pay for half of the repairs and the basic maintenance that they neglected to do. That is unacceptable and deceptive. Ken Garff SLC stepped in to make the situation right by footing the rest of the bill themselves. I will be taking my car there and never to Ogden, that's for sure. SLC didn't need to do that, but they did, and they made the situation right. A situation caused because the Ogden office sold a car that they knew needed work. Practices like that from Garff and any Honda dealer that would sell a Honda with such issues without disclosing them is disturbing and I will not be visiting that office ever again. Ken Garff Ogden has a lot to learn in how to retain a customer from their SLC office and specifically my service rep they who went above and beyond for me. It is sad that the Ogden branch would sell cars in such a deceptive way. It is even sadder that they wouldn't step up and fix it. It harms the Garff brand everywhere. The Garff brand as a whole needs to know about what Ogden is doing because I was ready to write the Attorney General over this. But SLC knows how to take care of people, and for that I am so grateful. I will continue to do business with Garff, but not this branch. Ever. read more

Definitely one of my favorite Honda dealerships I've done business with. I was able to drop my car and key off the day before my appointment, so they got a head start on assessing why it wouldn't start. They sent me text messages throughout the entire process, so I knew exactly what was happening and when it was happening. They also diagnosed the problem and fixed it a day ahead of time. Chad Lockwood did amazing! He was super nice, didn't try to push the sale and just let it happen. We came in after dealer hell from a competitor and Chad made sure that we were taken care of since the second I got him on the phone to check if they had a vehicle in stock. Right off the bat he said he didn't have one to sell but that we could look at and drive. We drove it and fell in love. We found one in the color that we wanted that was already built and on its way. We were able to pick it up last night and we are for sure in love. We even had a little incident with the trade in, we broke the mirror backing into the garage. The service department is total Garbage. They were suppose to fix my car on an auto claim. When they supposedly fixed and took 3 days to do so; they screwed up and have not resolved the issue. I can't even get them to answer my calls. They took the money and created more problems for me. I have been waiting for almost 3 months. I have never had more horrible service from any mechanic shop. I bought a car from here very recently i paid in full was constantly told ,suspiciously might i add and at least 20 times, that i never could know what was wrong with the wrong with the car almost as if they knew there was something wrong with the car. Also as i said when i first got there i intended to buy a car in full they tried VERY hard to get me on a car payment, because i guess i look very young so they thought they had their person to scam they had me wait for hours going over financing although i literally told them from the beginning i did not want to do financing as it doesn't fit my needs or wants and they did this for multiple days. They even told me getting a car payment with lots of interest is so great for me and that it would help me have a good credit score as i already have a great one. They wanted me to spend thousands of more dollars for a warranty. I decide not to and not even 10 days later my car is not functioning properly i bring it in and they tell me it was my fault(a lie) and that i need to keep driving it around so that the engine light goes off. SURPRISE it doesn't go off my car stops in the middle of an intersection and i almost get into a crash with 2 other cars. I have it towed in and was then informed there was no inspection on the vehicle on the vehicle before i purchased it there was no repairs done to the car and they sold me a broken car. They say there was a certain issue with the car (the fuse box) and that they "fixed it", i tried to drive home 5 minutes down the street and my car stops yet again in the middle of the road this place does not care about its customers and its likely that they'll sell you a lemon i would not recommend buying a car from this place i paid A LOT of money for this used car as a working student with not a lot to spare and it seems like they're being shady and ducking and dodging me any moment they get. They won't give me diagnostics on the car or any paper work on the the state of the car even though this is a dealership. And they offered to take the car back for half of what i paid not even 2 months after i bought the car. Our salesman (Braydon Hyer) was awesome, but they wouldn't do a purchase order with our credit union and wanted us to go 45 miles each way and get a check...Or use their finance company... Um, no! I've never had a dealership not be able to work directly with the credit union? It's not like it was the "credit union of mom". It ended up taking 4.5 hours! We brought our 2020 Honda Accord in for service and were told that it could have underlying problems from a previous small accident. They scared us into considering trading in our car for a new one. We gave a deposit of $500. We had a sales person who was new and did not know his job very well. We were never told the deposit was not refundable and never signed anything stating it was not refundable. After considering our situation for 1 week we told the dealership we could not buy a new car and asked for a refund. They have refused stating they told us it was not refundable. read more

This is my experience with KEN GARFF HONDA Riverdale: -My wife called them four times to try to get emissions and inspection scheduled. Each time our sales person said no problem let me call you back. There was no call back my wife is the one that had to keep following up until we were able to get an appointment. -My wife brought them a check for more than half the value of the vehicle. They made her wait for an hour with our two year old. -They messed up our financing with our credit union and are asking us to fix it. There financing person told us we have to drive back to the dealership and I have to fill out more forms and then go to my credit union and work things out with them. They don't value my time and they have forgotten who their customers are. Poor customer service doesn't have a place in business in this day and age. If I could give them zero stars I would. I purchased a 2015 CR-V here on January 9th. From start to finish, the experience was good. My sales guy, Tyler Briscoe was awesome. I didn't feel the "hard sales pressure" from him at all, which was opposite the experience I had at another dealer a week prior. The whole transaction was smooth, there were no hidden surprises and we weren't there all day long. The doc signing too almost no time at all. I am from Cache Valley and was on my way to Salt Lake when I received a low tire pressure warning just before the Cheyenne exit. I pulled over and discovered one of my rear tires was flat. I had Road Side Assistance change the tire for me due to the heavy traffic and having two small children in the vehicle. The Ken Garff Honda Riverdale dealership was just a few miles from the Cheyenne exit so I decided to pull in there to see if they could possibly patch the tire so I could continue on to Salt Lake without the spare. I was stressed, the kids were cranky, and I just needed assistance. I walk in, and the woman in the lobby was very polite and professional. She walked me back to the Service department. There were three employees sitting around. She proceeded to tell them that I needed some assistance. They just sat and starred at her. No reply. She asks again. They continue to stare. She finally looks at one and says, "You can help her." The employee acted put out and irritated. I walked the employee out to my car, showed them my tire and explained my keys were in the vehicle. I went in with my children and sat down. The employee comes back in and tells me that the tire cannot be fix and needs to be replaced. "You need to take it to a tire place." The employee wasn't sympathetic, polite or professional. Everything was "a matter of fact". They told me frankly, "we could put a factor tire on but it will be pricey." According to them, all assistance was complete. They didn't even ask if I wanted the pricey factor tire. They were simply done! From the very beginning of this experience to the end, they were rude, unwilling to lend assistance, unprofessional and extremely awkward for me. Won't ever be coming back. I purchased my vehicle from Young Honda. I called them about my flat after I was hurried out of the service department, and they were very polite, more than accommodating to lend me assistance if I could make it back to Cache Valley. They then asked where I had just been helped. They apologized and mentioned that they have numerous complaints about the Ken Garff dealership in Riverdale and assist several customers after their bad experience with their Service Department. This company runs an extremely shady business! My husband took my vehicle in to have a recall taken care of and to get the oil changed. He also asked them to check the brakes. Had my husband spoken to me about it before having them do the work, I would've told him I wanted a second opinion. My husband was told we needed new rotors and brake pads so he told them to go ahead and get that done. Although we were charged for that (or should I say overcharged), the invoice says that the rotors were resurfaced, not replaced. And to make matters worse, my sister-in-law is now having an awful experience with them. She recently hit a deer and the following day her AC quit working. Ken Garff is telling her that she needs to have her whole AC unit replaced and that the deer had nothing to do with it going out. Her insurance will not cover the replacement of the AC. She has tried to contact the GM and he will not return her calls. I think this company is completely dishonest and doing unnecessary work just to make as much money as possible. My advice is to take your business to someone trustworthy. Update: Their response is also a joke as I emailed the manager and got no response. This company is pathetic and full of lies! read more

Went in to get an oil change. I had gotten brand new decals put on my car the day before. They ripped my new decals which were expensive. Instead of telling me and offering to fix it. They just stuck it back on hoping I wouldn't notice. I didn't notice until I got home. They also took the balancing weights off of my tires and didn't tell me. Great friendly staff, great extended warranties, will work with you to make a deal, have dealt with Tyler and Mario get treated like family, and they take in great trades have gotten two used vehicles from them. They work with great lenders that help you rebuild your credit (Golden West Credit Union). First car was 2007 Hyundai with only 55000 miles. And this on is 2004 Nissan Frontier Ext Cab SE with only 89000 miles. I have had multiple Honda's in my life they have always gone the extra miles. Called the parts department to find out about buying a sunshade for my husband's 2022 accord. Was immediately put on hold upon someone answering the phone. Was on hold for 7 minutes and then someone picked up the phone. NOTHING was said from the parts department as I'm say "hello, hello???" and was immediately put back on hold. Another 8 minutes go by and then a recorded message tells me to leave a message!!! So I hang up. I had to stop at another store near the dealership so I decide to stop in. There are 3 guys at the service desk as I stand at the parts department window. I ring the bell at the parts department and wait...and wait. Not one person acknowledges that I'm even there nor makes eye contact with me. So I ring the bell AGAIN. Not one person says a word or helps me. So I walked out and ordered on from Weathertech online. NOT ONE PERSON ACKNOWLEDGED THAT I WAS EVEN THERE. EVEN AFTER RINGING THEIR BELL...TWICE....THAT EVERYONE CAN HEAR!!!! Took my car in for a simple oil change and tire rotation. They said about an hour and I go to hang out in the waiting area. 4 hours later I'm still there. I try to find out what's going on, the guy says that my car has been sitting there all ready to go and they'd be trying to contact me for hours.....that's what you're going with when I've been literally sitting within eyesight of you the whole time? Nice try. "Well...you had earbuds in earlier, so maybe you didn't hear us." After techs had been coming in and out of the waiting room all afternoon to talk to customers and I didn't have any calls or texts on my phone? Again, nice try. Y'all don't even lie well. They get an extra star because I had a few good experiences prior to that day. Mixups happen sometimes, but when they do, it's a super awesome business model to lie about it and blame the customer. I have a Honda 2017 CRV and the button on the gearshift fell off. My wife and I googled this and it had a recall for that button. It was the first thing you found on Google about this model of car for that year of car. I called this dealership asking them about the recall and they told me that my car was not one of them. It was gonna cost me $135 to get it looked at and fixed. The button only cost $11. I called a different Honda dealership that's 30 minutes away from where I live, so it's not convenient for me to go there and they immediately found the recall and said They would fix it at no cost. This dealership fits the stereotypical "car dealership" mold. Sell the car, get rid of the customer. The car we bought is exactly what we wanted. When we took it home, we found a small issue and the salesman, initials D. J.) said they'd take care of it. He said, "just bring it in for your next oil change and we'll handle it". So we did. However,When we approached the service department about addressing the issue, they said they needed an "We Owe you" from the sales department. We called David and received no response so we took the car back home. I called David a day or two later, he answered and said he'd take care of the "We owe you". When we called to schedule service, we asked the service department if there was an "we owe you" in the system. They said no. We ended up bringing the car back for a warrantied item and asked them to take care of the other issue as promised by D The dealer said ok. We left the car, and after 24 hours had to call them back to see what progress had been made. We were told that the dealership has decided they won't cover the issue, but would split it. I told them not to do the work, and tried calling David...no answer...left a message with the sales manager Abram Hardy...no call back. So here I sit in the dealership waiting for someone to talk to so we can sort this whole thing out... These guys are impossible to get ahold of, won't return calls or texts...TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! read more

This will be long but has to be detailed to accurately explain the less than desirable experience I have had with the service department. In July of 2018 I was having issues with my A/C unit. I went to a service I trusted but will leave the name out as they had no part of the repair. This service told me I needed a complete A/C system replacement and recommended if I plan on keeping the car for a long time to have Honda perform the repair. I took their advice and had Honda quote the replacement. It was very expensive. Honda replaced the system and it worked fine all through the summer of 2018 and 2019 and was not used during the winter and cooler months. When the hotter days of 2020 came around I turned on the A/C and it was not working. I assumed it just needed to be charged so went to a service, same one that gave me the recommendation and they discovered the system was bad again and to go speak with Honda. They gave me some info on it leaking and that the compressor was not turning on or stuck. I returned to Honda only to learn I was out of luck. They mentioned the condenser was bad but couldn't evaluate the other elements of the system unless I paid to replace that. Keep in mind this is dealership prices, very expensive. I was also told they used aftermarket parts to fix the first A/C, I was never told about this during the initial repair, and in fact I went to Honda service specifically to have Honda OEM parts used. Well surprise, no help from Honda and they just played ignorant to the fact I was just learning about the aftermarket info, my only option at Honda was to spend 700 more dollars to replace the condenser and then we can tell you what else you need to buy and fix. Not happy at all, since I was already into this a substantial amount of money. This leads to another issue that happened in 2019 with my car not starting on occasions. I brought the car in for them to trouble shoot the car not starting on occasions. The person I was working with started discussing possible causes. They took it back to trouble shoot and called/text me a few times saying they could not find any issues. I said something is wrong because at random intervals it won't start. They eventually called me back and told me it was the fuel pump and fuel pump relay. I said to replace them, they did. One week later the car was still not starting on occasions and I had another service look at it. It turned out to be the starter and not the fuel pump and fuel pump relay. So I essentially paid a lot more money for parts and service that was not needed. Called the manager and he mentioned he would look into the incident and call me back. Never did get a call back and since the other service replaced the starter and the problem went away I let it go. Long story short these two occurrences for car repair was a very expensive lesson to NEVER USE KEN GARFF HONDA SERVICE. One they don't really care and are not honest with you on the parts they use, and 2nd they really don't care after the fact either (no call back). I recently bought a used vehicle from them. Generally the initial service was ok but once we were out the door the service has been horrible. They do not respond to emails at all, and have never returned calls. When I finally have gotten a hold of them they claim they have been trying to reach me...but I have no messages and my cell phone shows they have not called. It is bad enough being ignored but also being lied to just isn't OK. I recommend you avoid this place. Very, very poor customer service! read more
