I have a ten speed bike at home but these bikes are like mini motor cycles. Brent, seeing our hesitations spent time with us both in the parking lot helping us get used to them. Because let me tell you the first turn out of the lot is onto D street a steep downhill ride to a light at a busy cross street! That was the hardest part of the ride. A four hour round trip to Cardiff cruising the back streets of Encinitas to the SRF Meditation gardens and then to the dedicated bike path along the fabulous coast. Lunch at the Pacific Coast Grill was divine and we cruised home on the multi use path we took back to base. Brent had prepared us well with a thorough review of the map and recommendations. While I appreciate that Specialized addressed a serious safety issue, the way the recall was handled left us frustrated. The recalled bike posed a risk of serious injury or death through no fault of the customer. Despite this, my mother was required to pay approximately $1,750 to receive a replacement Turbo Vado because there was no comparable replacement option available. It is difficult to understand why customers should have to spend thousands of dollars to replace a two-year-old bike that was recalled due to a manufacturing defect. The process was also slow and lacked clear communication. During the delay, the color she originally wanted sold out, leaving her with fewer choices. Between the unexpected cost, uncertainty, and limited options, the overall experience did not reflect the level of customer service we expected from a company with Specialized's reputation. We have always believed Specialized stood behind its products, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I hope the company reevaluates how it supports customers affected by major safety recalls so that loyal customers are not left bearing the financial burden of a defect that was beyond their control.

I contacted the shop after my 2021 Turbo Levo, with only 500 miles on it, suffered a motor failure. From the start, Michael was extremely helpful. He took the time to walk through the error codes with me over the phone to make sure the diagnosis was accurate, and once we confirmed the issue, he got me in the very same day. Although the bike was out of warranty, Michael and Specialized recognized that a motor failure at such low mileage was premature. They stepped up and offered a goodwill credit to help offset the cost of a full motor replacement. That gesture meant a lot and says a great deal about both the shop and the brand. It showed me that Specialized stands behind its products and that this shop stands behind its customers. Michael took excellent care of both the bike and the entire repair process. I just finished a shakedown ride through Tecolote Canyon, including the climb back out, and the bike felt absolutely brand new. I live in San Diego, and the drive to Carlsbad is not exactly convenient, especially with traffic, but after this experience I can say without hesitation that I will continue making the trip. The level of service, professionalism, and care I received made me a loyal customer. Thank you to Michael and to Specialized for doing right by both the bike and the rider.
