WOW, I lived in Kenmore for over 60 years, first time here. Great food and nice people. Got baked fish dinners, very good, tender and cooked right. Had soup too. Clam chowder was rich and flavorful. Lots of choices on the menu. I will be back very soon. read more

I came here for scallops. Someone recommended them and I'm always game to give a "new to me" place a try. They open at 11 and were on time. Maybe I hit them on an off night. Nothing was bad, but nothing was amazing. The fish fry had a nice, thin, crispy coating with cornmeal, but it wasn't seasoned and the fish was a bit dry around the edges. The clams were good, and the small portion was plenty! Also available here is smoked whitefish. On Friday nights, particularly during Lent, expect long lines. Fresh and prepared fish are the specialty of this house. There are a few tables, but far and away most of their business is take-out. Superb haddock, shrimp, scallops, and french fries. Manhattan and New England clam chowder are made on premises, as well. I've been to Kenmore Fish Market a few times and each time they were exceptionally good. I ordered from the cooked menu and each time it was fried fish and shrimp. I absolutely love their coconut shrimp. They are so succulent on the inside and crispy on the outside. The also have amazing haddock and the fries are always a hit for me. I would love to order the cooked lobster claws off the menu as well as the fried calamari. The service is extremely sufficient and always friendly. Each time I've been there was never really a long wait or line so that's absolutely a plus. read more

I like coming here, especially since it is hard to find good quality seafood in buffalo. The supermarkets don't have it and the restaurants don't know how to cook it. So now instead of going to a restaurant to have my oysters arrive at the table with shell I go here and prepare them myself. Apparently novice me is better at shucking than the so-called oyster places around here. Tasty lobster bisque (I always order this in any place I go that offers it). They had great shrimp and I made some pretty amazing ceviche. Not worth taking a star off for, but, I do wish it was easier to read their receipts. My husband Dan and I just bought king crab legs (massive), sea bass, and homemade clam chowder for New Year's Eve dinner! We often buy the large sea scallops because their to die for. When you cook them in a pan they don't shrink (means their not injected with water) and melt in your mouth like butter! The in house smoke salmon is also a treat and jumbo shrimp are a favorite also. Many people stop by for fish fry dinners, shrimp dinners, fish Sammie's, etc. But we appreciate the fresh seafood and enjoy cooking it ourselves! This is a fish market but they also have a menu from which you can order to go or enjoy dining in as they have a few tables. The fried scallops are incredible. Rivaling the Tues-Sat fish fry for best part about this place is the incredibly friendly, helpful staff working here. They make this seafood lasagna and then sell pieces of it frozen. But if you want to catch it fresh on the day it's made, you can give them your number and they'll call you, seriously! They also make some tempting looking soups which I have yet to try. Went in to try to obtain a smoked whitefish for xmas eve. Being of polish descent, this is a staple but it's getting harder and harder to find. Whole Foods and Wegmans did not have what I was looking for, but this place did!!! Pretty easy to find location on the corner and more parking in the back behind the store. I went here to pick up two fish dinners on the recommendation of a long time friend who eats out a lot. I had visited in the past to buy lobster tails and they were excellent. So, I arrived here on the first Friday of Lent at about 5:45. First, parking is available on the street and there is a small lot available. I saw it was crowded but the Mrs. was counting on me. I got in a line with 24 others, I know because I counted as I walked to the end of the line. The line moves smoothly and steady, and the system they have is fine tuned. Keep in mind this is a Friday during Lent at the dinner hour, so you are going to wait no matter where you go. While waiting I decided to pass on the fish (Haddock, but Ocean Perch was an option) dinner and opt for the scallop dinner. When you place your order they put it all together within minutes. So, here's what I wound up ordering. One fish dinner, one scallop dinner, a small order of clam strips, and 6 hush puppies. It took about 3 minutes to put the order together and pay and be out the door. Okay, let me just say that based on past experiences fish doesn't travel well. It took about 10 minutes to get home. Here's where the make it or break it happens. The fish isn't fried in a heavy batter, so it wasn't soggy. It is breaded lightly, and was still warm and firm. The Haddock tasted great and was nice and flaky. The scallops were tremendous. Nice and firm and sweet. The dinner comes with a choice of 4 sides, and you pick two. We both got fries and slaw. Both were very good. The clam strips were cooked perfect, and were great. The hush puppies were a good size, and done right. My dogs ate them up also. The portion size was good and the price was $9.99 for the Haddock and $14.99 for the scallops. Small order of clam strips, $4.75. This is a fish market so you can see the fresh fish on display. They have 3 people putting orders together and about 5 preparing the food. So, if you want to get a good meal this is worth the wait. read more

You'd have to be sitting at a dock restaurant in Rockport Mass to get a fish fry that tasty. And you don't really need tartar sauce.

We visit here every chance we get, of course, it's Seafood so it can get pricey very quickly but the food is definitely worth it. Fridays are especially busy. Good Friday being usually a 40 minute wait and you want to enter through the back entrance. I love that we can order the fried food either buy a meal or by the pound. read more

This seafood is excellent. It's fresh tasting, and never overlooked, which is a pet peeve of mine when it comes to fish. The scallops are by far my favorite menu item.
