As we no longer live in the Chicago area and we're staying downtown, we felt we should pop back over here for lunch today so glad we did. Our server, was quite pleasant and attentive. The support staff were efficient. My wife and I shared the following: - Lobster Mac and Cheese - Seafood Salad - Parkerhouse rolls and butter - Hot tea - Iced tea See you this summer Shaw's Crab House!

We waited like 5 minutes for a table but were seated at a small two person booth/table. Our server was pretty busy but attentive and knew a lot about the menu. We ordered the wedge salad and the yellowtail sushi roll. It was spicy and had a nice touch of yuzu on top and the fish was relatively fresh. The wedge salad had plenty of dressing on it and it was pretty good. For the main we got the Chilean sea bass which was very sweet and savory. The scallops had a perfect sear and they were pretty very rich and buttery. The broccolini was steamed and fresh. He finished off dinner with the crème brûlée and the Keylime pie, both of us we had to take home because we were so full. I think overall this experience is pleasant, not something very memorable, but I'm happy I've came here!

There were people walking around socializing right next to my table and towards the end of my meal, a couple was waiting for a table while basically sitting on my table's couch seat. I don't know what they were doing there as they weren't part of the networking event and the bar was on the other side of the restaurant. The front/hostesses were friendly and helpful but the main waitstaff service was lacking. That being said, the mussels and the roasted carrots I got were surprisingly good. On the pricy side, but you're paying for the views.

Service was a bit slow although the waiter comp'd us a bowl of their clam chowder soup. They know how to make soup! One of the most delicious and tasty clam chowders we've had - not fishy, good clam to potato ratio and just plain yummy. Highly recommend the soup. I ordered their lunch special of lobster roll which came with fries and soup. Hubby ordered crab cake and shrimp with rice and salad. Both entrees were good - they did not skimp on the lobster and the crab cake and grilled shrimp were done just right, not chewy at all. It was a bit pricey and parking is a challenge. Nice ambiance with seating overlooking the river (although it was a bit chilly still when we were there).

Very friendly and engaging... he did a nice job keeping up with us and offering suggesting. To be honest, I wasn't too impressed with their menu, where I normally love visiting a Legal. It might have been that I just didn't find much that was appealing to me at that time, but I ended up choosing their Cajun Fried Shrimp. I started with a cup of their clam chowder and it was fine, but the clams had too much sand or gravel or whatever is nasty and crunchy in them, which I rarely experience in decent clam chowder. The flavor and the overall soup was great though. I just didn't like eating odd stuff in the clams. As for the entrée, the shrimp came out piping hot and tasty. The fries were bland, soft, and boring that were with it. The cole slaw was just ok. My server said their street corn appetizer was great, so I got that to go with this. It was decent, but the cheese they used on it wasn't good at all and was starchy and bold, not the typical cojita used in Mexican corn. Overall, it was an 'ok' visit.

It did start to pick up around 8 PM, but by then we were wrapping up. If you've ever been here on a weekend, you already know...it gets crowded fast. So weekday evenings are definitely the move if you want a more relaxed experience. One thing I did notice is that the menu feels more condensed compared to pre-COVID days. The quality is still there, but some of the little details have changed. For example, the fried alligator now comes with a hot honey sauce instead of the original sauce...and I'm not sure why that changed. I get that restaurants have had to adjust over time, but I do wish they'd bring some of those original touches back. Also, don't be surprised if a few of your old favorites are gone or slightly different. Customer service has always been consistent for me...friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The atmosphere is more on the intimate side, nothing overly flashy, just a comfortable place to enjoy a good meal. Parking is pretty reasonable and the lot is spacious, but when it's busy, you'll definitely feel it. There were three of us, and we ordered the fondue, fried alligator, fried shrimp, three-piece stuffed crab, and blackened salmon with red beans and rice, plus a drink. After tax and tip, the bill came out to around $150-$160, which felt fair for what we ordered. Overall, this is still one of my go-to spots and I'll definitely be back. I just hope they consider bringing back some of the original menu items...or at least that original alligator sauce!
