Teagle is by far the best Fitness Center at Cornell. It is conveniently located, has a swimming…read morepool and has two floors creating a great cultural split for working out. The top floor is dedicated to machines (cardio and isolation resistance training) and the bottom floor is dedicated to Olympic lifts, free weights, and bar weights. So naturally the top floor is friendly for people of all body types; people don't have to worry about being intimidated, judged, or having to deal with meat-head behavior (like excessive grunting). The bottom floor is where the intense (potentially aspiring) muscle men and women go, and they don't have to be bothered by people who are less intense about excercise than them. The gym does get crowded, but far less than Noyes or Helen Newman. I have never had to wait for a treadmill longer than 1 hour here. Most of the time you can sign up for a spot within 30 minutes of your arrival, so you can comfortably do a little resistance training before your cardio workout without waiting endlessly afterwards (like you have to at Noyes).

Teagle is conveniently located on campus, so students and staff can go better classes or right after class. The only negative of the building is the locker rooms. They are pretty outdated and several of the toilets and sinks are in pretty bad shape. The locker rooms could use a renovation. As far as the workout facilities though, there is a large range of equipment and plenty of space.

The front desk staff are always friendly and willing to answer questions. When they aren't busy with desk responsibilities, they take the time to wipe down the equipment and tidy up. Locker rooms are always spotless...and they stand far above traditional gym locker rooms in their quality, aesthetics, and amenities (and I've seen my share of gym locker rooms!). Showers, restrooms, and floors are ALWAYS clean. The classes are run by instructors who are engaging and passionate. The atmosphere is one in which women can feel comfortable working out among men, this quality in a gym is not the case in many of the other gyms in the area. While it is a little more expensive than some other area gyms, the benefits make it more than worth the cost. And, finally, on the RARE occasion when there has been an issue with billing or equipment that was on the fritz, Kristina and Laura have always been responsive, willing to listen, and helpful.

The staff were all friendly and helpful, the facility very clean! I didn't feel out of place (as is sometimes the case when traveling and the locals stare or make me uncomfortable). The equipment I used was all in great condition, newer very nice machines! Overall, exceptional experience here at the Riverwalk! Would absolutely recommend and will return in the future when in the area.
