It is not necessarily a quiet location as drivers speed down the road at stupid speeds but so far haven't found a hotel in Anchorage that can avoid that. The little restaurant is nice in a pinch. They have the standard fare that other Hyatt Houses with this menu has. I don't know why but I really enjoy it even knowing it arrives frozen and is stuck in a microwave. But I find that pizza to be oddly comforting and a tendency to put me in a calm mental state - but that's a me thing. I don't expect others to understand. It was a great hotel for the stay. Solid. Dependable.

The common deck was a perfect place to start or end the day with views of the water. While I had booked my room through a third- party company, she found our reservation and was able to change us from a king bed to two double beds. That's great customer service. She even asked us what floor we would like to be on. I think she could see how tired we were from driving, so she gave us a nice room on the1st floor which was very convenient - since we knew we would be coming and going from our truck to our room. She made a great choice.. we were close to our vehicle so we didn't have to walk far to unpack our vehicle. Our room was cozy with a heater and an air conditioner. The beds were comfortable and there was great water pressure for the shower. Thank you to Eurina for making our evening welcoming and enjoyable. A second shout out to Boyd, at breakfast. Unfortunately everything is a bit outdated and musty here. There was a strange smell throughout the hotel at all times. The lobby is large and beautifully decorated, very on brand for Alaska. My room was decently clean, but smelled horrible. And I mean horrible. I do have a cat so I stayed in a pet friendly room, however it smelled like a wet dog lay all over the beds and no one cleaned it. I had to keep the window open my entire stay for my own survival. The staff was very nice! That's the biggest plus in this hotel. They are also have two restaurants and a coffee bar so you don't have to travel far for a quick meal.

The manager's response to my characterization of this hotel as "filthy" was, "I apologize for the inconvenience." Everything is worn out. Everything is filthy. I am staying here an extra day as part of a Regent Seven Seas cruise. Regent is paying for tomorrow. I cannot believe that a luxury cruise line -- much less "the world's most luxurious cruise line" -- puts its passengers here. I suspect that it's an old relationship. But Regent needs to visit this place and rethink this relationship. And if you're thinking of staying here, I urge you to rethink too.
