A Stay That Prioritizes Profit Over People Stayed here for 21 days. A few small positives, but overall, it's clear this place is run by someone more interested in cutting costs than taking care of guests. The Good: Staff were incredible No roaches or bed bugs (Only reason I didn't give it 1 star). Built-in bottle opener in the kitchen. Simple, but appreciated. Onsite laundry is available. The Bad: Strict check-in policy - They wouldn't let me check in 30 minutes early. Not a huge ask, but they stuck to the rulebook like robots. No flexibility, no interest in making things easy for guests. Toilet constantly leaks and refills - You'll hear it dripping and refilling all day and night. Refrigerator is loud and always running - Sounds like it's trying to launch. Room won't hold heat - Heater runs constantly, but the temp swings back and forth. It also makes a moaning/whining sound every time it shuts off. Kitchen with no dishes - Full kitchen, but nothing to cook with. No pans, plates, utensils, nothing. Had to go back out and buy my own after already bringing groceries in. No warning ahead of time. Uncomfortable pillows and a terrible desk setup - Bad for sleeping or working. Blackout curtains don't seal to the window - Light pours in around the edges. Cold tap runs hot first - Takes 15-20 seconds of hot water before any cold comes out. Keycard access is unreliable - Doesn't always work, sometimes takes multiple tries. One day, it failed completely while I was stuck outside with groceries. Even the main entrance needs a key card - So people checking in are often stuck outside waiting for someone to notice. Laundry machines require quarters, but the front desk doesn't have any - Was told to go to a store and ask for change. That's the system. Housekeeping is a joke - They claim it's every 4 days, but in 21 days I only had service twice--once because I asked for it. There's a spot on the key card envelope where they're supposed to note your cleaning schedule, but no one filled it out. Internet is nearly useless - Got 800kbps when it actually connected. Used my phone's hotspot instead. Bottom Line: On paper, this place checks a lot of boxes. In practice, almost everything is half-done or broken. It's a classic case of cutting every corner possible to boost profits, with no thought given to the guest experience. Won't be back. read more

We stayed in this establishment three separate times in our 17 day vacation in Alaska. Each of the times we loved our stay. The desk clerks, Maggie and Maddie's were extremely helpful. Especially dealing with a non-functioning shower and noisy-rude neighbors. The rooms here are better equipped than all of the other hotels that we've stayed in on our trip...even those that were WAY more expensive! The location is extremely convenient for many day trips from Anchorage as well as short distances to much shopping and really nice restaurants. read more

First of all their website doesn't not advertise their shuttle driver needs a two hour notice for pick up. Thankfully Lyft was ready for us within minutes of requesting a ride to the hotel. We then arrived and upon checkin in I requested a shuttle back to the airport the next day (giving them more than 2 hours notice). I was then told the driver has the day off on Wednesday leaving us solo AGAIN. The lady gave us our room key, as we were walking away there was no room number. After a long day of flight being surprised is the last thing you want to deal with. It's ridiculous The room smelled funky, other hotels have the gesture of having the room at a decent temp, not this one. I guess you get what your pay for. Sticking to known hotels next time. The manager stated to me today that if a reservation is made you have to pay for all nights even if you leave due to a medical emergency. We spent an evening in ANC to not have to drive home late into the evening when we needed to be to work early the next morning. We chose My Place due to its location and the fact that they allowed us to have our fur baby with us, the affordable price was very appealing too. I read several reviews and decided to go ahead and book it. I called the day of check in to ask about bringing our dog and the young lady who answered the phone was polite and gave us all the information to check in with him. Check in was easy and quick, signing a pet policy, receiving the information about the hotel and being greeted by another patron who wanted nothing more than to take our dog with him. Ha! Our room had a full size refrigerator, two burner stove, full size coffee pot and sink with garbage disposal. The room was clean and orderly, no foul odors or anything of the sorts. Due to the location, there really wasn't a view, but we were merely there to sleep & shower! We arrived back late in the evening and with full hands, the gentleman at the front desk buzzed us in the door so we didn't have to grab our key. There was a couple fighting in the hallway in the middle of night, but I can't dock a star for that, dramatic patrons are not their fault. All in all, good stay and if we need to stay in ANC again, I imagine we'll choose My Place. read more

This was the best out of three hotels we stayed at in Alaska. They advertised it as having an airport shuttle, but they said something about their driver being sick. Instead, they paid for our Uber ride to them. The hotel room looks new and updated. It has a full kitchen, but no utensils or cook ware. It does have a full fridge with ice maker and a microwave. They have some that you can rent? in the store in the lobby. It's kind of pricey though. They also paid for our Uber to the airport. I would stay here again. My boyfriend that stays in hotels a lot for work loved this place and became a meme ER right away in anticipation of future stays at other locations. read more

The hotel is decent enough. The bed was fine but it was a disappointment to discover, while leaving on Sunday, that they have no van service to/from the airport just because it's a Sunday. They charge me 3 times for my 1 day of stay at this hotel. There wasn't anyone at the front desk when I checked in, I HAVE TO CALL THEM FOR SOMEONE TO COME OUT! Front desk staff was using her AirPods while helping us check in (VERY UNPROFESSIONAL). Landed in Anchorage and called to get shuttle only for the desk clerk tell me they won't have a shuttle tonight because it has to be scheduled 2 hours in advance. This place has incredibly high value for money. Came here in May 2017 for a Friday night stay for a family of four adults. We just needed a night before taking a transfer to the cruise. The room was incredibly spacious, clean and had everything you needed: full sized fridge, working kitchenette, shower with great water pressure and temperature. Even the view was surprisingly nice of the mountain ranges. The desk staff was extremely friendly. Place felt totally quiet, no noise disturbances from other rooms at all. Parking was easy, and the location is close enough to the airport (presumably you'll need a rental car). If you want to explore, it's close to the AK-1 for a drive. Bed bugs - Horrible management - False advertisement (no shuttle) After 1 night of sleeping in the hotel room, I ended up with at least 10 bed bug bites. This was our first night in Alaska so it couldn't have been from any other place. My sister (who was not bitten) and I traveled together and the only difference we had was our beds. We requested a room change, but during the rushed move, my sister lost her airpods. We only discovered this a few days after we left Anchorage. They said they closed the room for inspections after we left but didn't see it in the room when we called so either it was swiped by the cleaning crew, or another guest had stayed in the room shortly after we left. I had requested to talk to the management 2-3 times during our stay and was told they'll call us back since they were never present at the hotel, but it never happened. We specifically searched for hotels with free shuttle service to-and-from the airport and this place advertised that, but we only found out after we arrived that they have no driver (for a while it seems) and could no longer offer the service. They did not notify us beforehand, if we had known, we would have canceled the reservation and chose another hotel. There are many similar priced hotel rooms in the area, and I would recommend anyone traveling to Anchorage to avoid this place. read more

BEWARE! This place lost our luggage. We used this hotel as our hub when we spent 2 months in Alaska. They stored some of our luggage while on a side trip. When we returned, it was nowhere to be found. Manager "promised" us that we would be reimbursed for our lost items. It is now 2 months later, and no one is taking any responsibility for this. Corporate is saying the hotel needs to reimburse us, the hotel says it's corporate's responsibility. Meanwhile, we're out our luggage, clothing, and irreplaceable souvenirs. Arrived in Anchorage airport and was told this hotel had a free shuttle. Upon arrival we called the hotel to ask where the courtesy shuttle was located, and I was told the driver had went home sick. We caught a taxi to the hotel and midway thru trip we receive a call stating that shuttle driver waiting for us at airport! No decent communications! Then after finally getting to sleep , we have an attempted break into our room. When we called hotel operator, she said it must have been housekeeping. He dealt with enquiries with a fun and happy approach, and efficiently made reservations, ensuring the guests would have exactly what they needed. The staff was very nice & helpful. The rooms were very clean, we had 3 different rooms altogether. It was quiet, good for this light sleeper. There's a laundry room also which came in handy. Wonderful hotel, great staff, incredibly comfortable room! I've stayed at many hotels in my day, but My Place Hotel is a cut above the rest! A bit removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, but still very close to food, shopping, and culture! The room was more spacious than expected, and the bathroom was wonderful! The shower was super hot, and quite large, the towels fluffy and very absorbent! I didn't try room service, but they have a large array of drinks and snacks available near the front counter, at quite reasonable prices! Neil and Daniel are just MARVELOUS! They helped me find things to do in the city, had some amazing conversations with them, learned a bit about the city, and shared a laugh or two! Nobody could ask for better people to help in a new city! 5/5 would definitely stay here again, if I go back to Alaska, and you should give it a chance, yourself! read more

I got a queen bed because it's just me and my dog and I have a recliner a little kitchenette you have HBO stars encore which is what I needed tonight because it's really snowing and I don't want to go out. I have to bring my dog to Anchorage for surgery and how convenient to be able to come here stay overnight while she has her surgery and has to do her overnight at the vets. Neal at the reception desk is absolutely great so helpful and so friendly! We stayed there the weekend 20-23 October 2017. Found the place to be very pleasant, rooms clean and set up very nicely. The staff is very friendly, no complaints. We were surprised to find out the rooms are only clean one every four days to keep the cost down, once we found that out we got extra towels and we were set. You definitely get what you pay for here... I'm in town for a graduation and although the rooms are nice and clean, I would never stay here again. They offer a delivered breakfast and we tried it because it sounded so cool! But we got half-frozen Jimmy Dean sandwiches and expired yogurt... gross! There are kitchens here which are lovely, but there are no dishes, cookware, silverware, or other utensils... but they offer a small cooking pot downstairs for $32. The wifi is iffy, if you have to log on with a computer, make sure to disable your pop ups, at least, that's how I finally got it to work for me. And if you are away for awhile, you get disconnected from the wifi and have to keep re-logging in. The staff is friendly and helpful, they always make sure to greet us, especially the maintenance man! Hopefully this helps! read more

We booked this hotel for a 12hour stay the day prior to an early flight out of ANC. This was by far the best value in the Anchorage area. The hotel was opened in March 2016, and is still fresh as of September 2016. Front end staff is very hospitable. Great kitchenette with full fridge. Laundry facility was a wonderful surprise. This is our first stay at an "extended stay". Pets are welcome also. If the rates stay similar(or at least competitive) we will return on future trips to Alaska. read more
