First visit on a busy Wednesday at 12:15 . Opened the door to a roar of a full house with a short wait to sit. Very pretty place but could use some type of sound deadening decor. Despite being slammed the wait staff was fast and good. The food was not. My gyro was small, meat was dry and actually crispy and maybe a teaspoon of tzatziki sauce. My friend said her soup was good but the half chicken salad was nothing special. We were very disappointed. I may go one more time and try a breakfast. read more

Very clean with fresh flowers at breakfast time. Full selection of condiments at each table. Had the corned beef and hash with poached eggs. There was more corned beef than potatoes and cooked just enough. The eggs were either large or extra large and poached lightly as I ordered. Residual water in the bowl which I guess is almost impossible to void. Only negative was it appeared that when wiping down a table top, the same towel is used for the seat cushion. read more

I came here for brunch with my family the weekend before Thanksgiving. My dad moved to a new town in the Detroit area. This spot is real hopping. In the sense that it gets super busy so expect a little bit of a wait. It's a cute old school diner serving traditional and some non-traditional items. I ended up ordering the salmon eggs benedict that surprisingly comes with avocado spread, tomato, and red onion as well on the english muffin. I really liked eating it all as a composed bite. The poached eggs were surprisingly cooked perfectly. Salmon lox on its own was a bit overwhelmingly salty. The side of hash potatoes were pretty good and I sure accompanied that with their collection of hot sauces on the table. My brother got a breakfast wrap, my sister got the same thing as me, my dad's wife got something simple with eggs, potatoes, and toast, and my dad got probably the most interesting thing: a breakfast crepe. I was seriously debating ordering it and I'm kind of glad I didn't. I love me a crepe. It was stuffed with the usual goods: eggs, cheese, ham and peppers I think but was slathered with hollandaise. For some reason that didn't work for me. He said it was the best part. I guess it's a matter of opinion. I think it would be great if it was either less or on the side. They also have sweet crepes which looked divine. Fresh pies and interesting specials. They refilled our coffees promptly. It's a decent spot. Wife & I went there at 2:15 Sunday. Girl cleaning the front door told us to sit anywhere so we picked a booth front & center. We watched 4 girls doing "busy work ". One was putting together silverware the other three just kind of standing around and talking. We waited around 10 minutes and just got up to leave. THEN a waitress asked what we were doing and I told her that they obviously didn't want to wait on us so we were going elsewhere. The restaurants around us close at 3:00 and we were there before 2:30 and just wanted a simple brunch. They probably lost a potential good customer as we do brunch most Sundays and are quiet, clean and good tippers. Typically don't require anything extra. The place looks freshly remodeled and clean and has outdoor seating in the nice weather. It's sad and we're bummed as we were hoping that we found a good option for our Sunday brunch. read more

The stars are for the clean, bright atmosphere and the coffee, which is very good here. The food was nothing to brag about...it wasn't bad, it's just something I could throw together at home with sub-par ingredients. This place is usually packed and I now know why! We came on a Monday, so we didn't have to wait for a table. Husband ordered and coffee and eggs Benedict and I ordered the veggie omelet. The omelet was huge! I also have breakfast for tomorrow now. It was cooked perfectly and stuffed full of veggies. The potatoes were also slightly crispy but soft on the inside. I was on this side of town going grocery shopping and was starving before I went. I wanted to eat some place new, and I spotted it from the road. I am glad I did because the food was fabulous. Walking in, the place isn't huge but well decorated and busy. I sat at the bar and was handed a menu which had a ton of items to choose from. The selection was great and I had a hard time deciding. While the price point is closer (and above) $10 a person, the food was delicious and I enjoyed my visit. I ended up getting the corned beef eggs benedict and it was pretty good. The hollandaise sauce they put on top was a bit different and had some spice to it, but it was good. No pork on their eggs benedict which I was grateful for since I do not eat it. Service was quick and I was impressed with the other dishes that I saw coming out of the kitchen as well. Place was busy even with the 50% restriction placed on restaurants for Covid. Been here twice in the last month and the service and food has gone down hill. Was a great place to go for a good meal and great service but now you have to wait for someone to wait on you and the food is not good. Waited over 15 minutes for someone to take our order today and another 25 minutes for our food and it was overdone. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. My sister-in-law and mother-in-law went for lunch here two weeks ago. My sister-in-law found a false eyelash in her food called the owner over showed him and he said to her very rudely "how do I know it's not yours? "My sister-in-law whom is very calm said to him ,"sir look at my eyes I don't wear any make up at all."( she doesn't)The owner then told her "it's not my problem "and walked away. Food it was okay, BUT the Service it's horrible I was there with a friend who has a walker (he's going through cancer ). We were seated by a waitress but we were asked to move two more times because his walker was in the way , restaurant was empty!. I wasn't sure who's way. You can see in pictures there is only one more customer. We comply every time and we moved. At one point the waitress comes and folds the walker because it's still in the way. We didn't wanted to be folded but she did it anyway. When we finally were served the owner, Tony( he says is the owner ) comes to the table and in a very rude way he ask if there is a problem, we ask him if he is knowledgeable of the American disability act, to my surprise he responds: yeah, what about it!? He also states that he doesn't need our business, we can leave if we are not happy. . Discriminating a bit? One star it's too much for this place. I've been consistently going to Ken's for the past two years or so and I think it's finally time to talk about how awesome this place is. I'm amazed that this place only has 3.5 stars on yelp because it is the best food around for the best price. The interior has recently been remodeled and looks excellent and updated. Not to mention very clean as well. We are always seated quickly even when the place is packed. The eggs Benedict here is amazing and my wife's favorite. We've tried to enjoy eggs Benedict elsewhere but everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE falls short of the eggs Benedict at Kens. The owner never fails to greet us with a smile, friendly conversation and fill our coffee. Kens Cozy Cafe is our favorite Sunday brunch restaurant and we will continue to be back again and again. Because their hash browns are not very good, I'm posting the worlds best 'diner style' recipe here for all to enjoy! Best Hash Brown recipe: Wash and peel the potato. Grate or shred on a box grater or food processor. Do so into a bowl of water to prevent oxidation. Drain and rinse until water runs clear. Spread shredded potato out onto paper towels or a clean kitchen towel. Pat dry and let air dry for 5-10 minutes. In a small frying pan, add oil and butter. Heat over medium-medium high heat. When butter solids start to brown, add shredded potatoes. Cover with a lid and cook for 5 minutes without lifting the lid. When time is up, remove the lid, season with salt and pepper, and flip. Continue cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes. read more

First time here and it was a Sunday which means they only serve off the breakfast menu. I got my usual vegetarian egg white omelette with tomato slices and dry rye toast. The toast was great and not burnt (you have no idea how often I get served burnt rye toast!!) the omelette was full of veggies and really tasty. My friend got a western omelette the American fries and rye toast and he really liked his food too. They have Franks Red Hot sauce on all the tables but I'm a Tabasco girl and they did have that for me behind the counter so I was very happy. I would definitely come here again. Great food, great prices and great service! Today was our first visit to Kens. The restaurant is very clean and newly remodeled, or it looks like it was just remodeled. The service was friendly and fast. Such large portions of food, and it is really tasty. My one wish is that they offered gluten free pancakes or gf waffles.....but not many places do.
