Living in Florida, the first time that I was introduced to Kent Falls beer was through another CT transplant who just so happened to share a bottle of their beer that he brought back with him. There hasn't been a single brew that I've had that hasn't been absolutely delicious or hasn't been given the utmost care from mash-in to bottle. From that day, it was my mission to make sure that I got up to Kent Falls on my next trip back home. They've been on my must-stop rounds when visiting ever since and with good reason. On one trip, my cousin and I took a little hike up the trail at the waterfall and had some lunch in Kent center before heading over to the brewery. On this day, it was rather overcast and off & on rainy day, but felt rather perfect outside. The hop yard was blooming in all its glory and you can feel that you're standing on historic land (because it has, in fact, been in continuous use for farming for 250+ years). All the buildings that house the brewery and taproom are barns and truly lend to the farmhouse atmosphere. You can buy plenty of package beer (both cans and bottles), as well as merch, on site. One thing that immediately drew me to Kent Falls are their sustainable and green strategies. The brewery uses a solar thermal array to supply pre-heated hot water to the brewery, solar panels to reduce/offset electrical usage throughout the year, a well for clean water, and (as seen in my pictures) the use of goats to help clear through brush. Kent Falls also composts all their spent grain, yeast, used hops, and spent fruit to make fertilizer which then is used to grow their own hops on site. Many breweries throughout the country could learn from their example. The only holdback, and this really is for folks who may try to access the brewery at the height of winter, would be getting there in the snow. You will need a 4x4 to get out there. I would safely assume that the brewery communicates when roads are passable or impassable.

So if you live in the Hartford area and want some of the best craft beer in the State from Kent Falls Brewing, there's no reason why you have to drive to the brewery. You can buy cans at a number of different places in the Hartford area. But I drive there a couple of times a year anyway. It's a nice drive through scenic areas of the State. Lots of trees. Lots of hills. Lots of colors and water. You can stop at other great places (Arethusa ice cream and coffee in Bantam and Bantam Bread) along the way. You can check out the Falls while you're in the area (additional drive required). And if you drive there, check out the website before you go and you'll know exactly which craft beers you can get that day. My favorites include Shruggie and Line Aversion. You can also get a few groceries like local roasted coffee and farm fresh eggs.

Unicorns, foxes, galaxies, hipster, beer fantasies. That's exactly what I could sum this place up with. Small tasting room at the Kent Falls Brewing in this cool, vibey, barn. All local beer. They sell even exclusives that aren't even bottled yet such as "Lillian", heirloom tomato sour! Also, my favorite has got to be the "Buddy Sprinkles" that you can get on tap and also take to go in their cool cans. I love the art and design on these guys! The first time I saw and heard of Kent Falls Brewing Co was at the Warehouse Wines & Liquors in Danbury. What got me was Unicorn cans: "what dreams are made of". I haven't tried this one yet but I definitely will! Their art and beer tells a story and takes you there. They have on site tours at 2pm on Saturdays (too bad we JUST missed it). Will definitely be back for that! Bring your kids leave your pups (I know, sad but they can't be here. Service animals are accepted, however, no emotional nor therapy dogs). Just a heads up! Staff is very knowledgeable and knows their stuff. They'll let you try what you want and are very patient and friendly. Can't wait to come back, so happy to have taken home some buddy sprinkles to hold us up until the next time we're in Kent! Also, they sell some local Farm Raised Meats from Camps Road Farm (in case you want!) Cool spot, awesome beers, beautiful art!

A few thoughts on the economics of brewery tasting rooms. Three days ago, I went with some gents from work to a big gorgeous tasting room at a brewery in the Hartford suburbs. If you really want to know where that was, just go back five reviews. That tasting room was huge- it was bigger and fancier than the dining rooms in a lot of restaurants I've been to. There were televisions up on the walls, fancy drop light fixtures everywhere, scores of nice wood tables and chairs, a spiffy hardwood floor, and even fancy ceramic tiles on the bathroom floor. But a glass of their beer cost twice as much as what I paid yesterday at Kent Falls Brewing. The tasting room at Kent Falls is about as Spartan as I have ever seen. They had two big picnic tables and benches inside, and a few smaller ones outside. The floor was wide old wood planks, that looked to have been there at least since Dwight Eisenhower was president. The fanciest feature in the room was the psychedelic blue, black, and gray swirls of the paint on the walls. So if you go to a tasting room to be dazzled by its ambience, and are OK paying $6 or $7 for a full pour, there are breweries to visit to that do that very well. But if you go to a tasting room, let's just say for arguments sake "Kent Falls Brewing", and are OK sitting in what looks like an old barn without a lot of frills, even less pretension, and want to pay $4 for a full pour, you will enjoy yourself here. We sure enjoyed ourselves here. They offered six beers on draft for full pours, or growler fills. They also had a nice selection of bottles and cans to go. Their website says they have 139 different products in their repertoire, so you can see what is available on draft, in cans, in bottles, etc. I saw they had a beer on tap called Danny Boy, so how could I resist that? It was a German style lager/pilsner with 4.9% ABV. It was very good- super refreshing and not very hoppy. I picked up a four pack to take home. We sat at the far end of one of their picnic tables and saw some "Trivial Pursuit"-like card games there, except all of the questions were about beer. Later, we were joined at our table by a couple of beer aficionados from Naugatuck, and we had a nice time shooting the breeze with them. Why not take a drive out to beautiful Litchfield County and have a pint or two in the barn on the farm? Cheers !

Kent Falls Brewing is one of the best breweries in Connecticut. They're known for a wide variety of beers, often with fun names, and doing stuff that's just ... different. Awkward Hug, A Vague Reassurance That Everything's Going to be Alright, and ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. These are all names of beers that Kent puts out. Anyway, their brewery is also a working farm, so unfortunately they're not dog friendly, but the times we visited were during cooler months, so we were able to leave our pup in the car comfortably. They've got a barn for a tasting room, and there's lots of room inside and out. No food service (typical of most CT breweries) but we usually come with a packed lunch, so this is no problem for us. It's a nice, chill, relaxed vibe here. Highly recommend!

Had a really nice experience here stopping after a hike. Nice indoor and outdoor spaces to enjoy a low key beer on tap. They have delicious selections and great quality; they also sell microbrews in their shop you can't get anywhere else. I really loved both IPAs on tap as well as a new one with gin botanicals. Very drinkable. Two minor complaints; the whole place smelled like manure because...it's on a farm. They also don't sell food to stay, so after 1-2 beers you'll want to leave.

Great beer. Nice brewery location in the Kent outskirts. They grow the hops right near the brewery and you can walk through the gardens. Bring snacks, Family friendly, picnic tables outside. It's a little hard to get to and no service so be careful not to depend on the gps to get home!

I've always been a fan of Kent Falls' beers as they're my default local hometown brewery. Maybe it's cuz I grew up in the area but the drive isn't so far out of the way to me? Either way it's a great scenic drive so no one should complain especially since your destination has awesome beer once you arrive. Their taproom has most of the beers you can get throughout the state but has a few brewery exclusives that make the drive worth it. They do growler fills along with bottles & cans for sale. They have a great social media presence that has updated offerings. You can get half or full pours of beers on tap & the tap room is spacious. There is room outside with a small playground which makes bringing your kids an option. They are definitely one of my favorite breweries in the state & worth checking out if you're in the area for sure!

But with the Progeny at camp and the pup walked to somnolence, the Pardner and I finally had a chance to check this place out. Pros: - There's often live music -- without a cover! We saw the talented Eran Troy Danner perform. - The house-brewed beers are varied and delicious. We tried the Amarillo Sky Double IPA, Sacred Grounds Coffee Porter, and the Pirates and Parrots Island Lager, made in three very distinct styles. The Amarillo Sky reminded me of Lawson's Sip o' Sunshine, though a bit less hoppy. Pirates and Parrots would be a perfect session beer. It's fantastically refreshing in the heat. I have to wonder whether the Sacred Grounds Coffee Porter has anything to do with the excellent Sacred Grounds Coffee in Sherman, CT -- but either way, it's very tasty. - The bathrooms are clean!!! They're probably the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen in a drinking establishment of any kind in the US. - The staff are really nice and friendly, affirmatively helpful. - There's a nice looking food menu. It was a little early for dinner, for us, but we'd love to head back... someday when we are again sans Progeny. - There is an air conditioned indoor space one can retreat to if it's really, really hot out. But the expansive outdoor area out back is where most of the action seems to be when weather permits. Cons: - No dogs allowed - No humans allowed under 21 I am tempted to ding a star because those are big fat cons for us. But... given those delicious beers, the clean bathrooms, the great live music... I can't. This place is sweet.

With brewery experience dating back to the 1980s, Littlefield had owned and operated Harbor Lights Brewing Company in Dana Point, California during the 1990s. A couple of non-brewery jobs later, Littlefield had relocated to Connecticut and looked to open a new brewery. He purchased a 7-acre property along the banks of the Housatonic River in New Milford. In addition to brewing good beer, Littlefield's goal was to create a venue that the community would appreciate and enjoy. The brewery features a large rustic taproom, a stage for live musical acts to perform, and a large seasonal beer garden under a pavilion. In addition to the housemade beer, HRB also serves wine, cider, craft cocktails, and a large menu of delicious food from their in-house kitchen. In May 2024, Littlefield purchased the former Quirk Works Brewing & Blendery space in Danbury for HRB to use as a secondary production facility. I recently visited Housatonic River Brewing for the first time. I had heard that they host a lot of live music acts and I purchased a ticket to see NYC-based Rush tribute band "Moving Pictures". I'm a HUGE Rush fan, so I was really excited to see the group perform. I arrived over an hour before the show started and grabbed a table close to the stage. There was a modest crowd when I first arrived, but the whole taproom was packed by the time the show started. After looking over the menu, I started off with a plate of "Smoked Macaroni & Cheese" (smoked bacon jalapeño macaroni & cheese) and "Cornbread" (w/ cinnamon honey butter). Afterwards, I moved onto a "Gourmet Brisket Grilled Cheese" (three cheeses between perfectly grilled rustic sourdough toast w/ bacon & jalapeños & fries). Everything was fantastic, especially that heavenly grilled cheese! Throughout my visit, I enjoyed pours of "Uncle Bock" (Doppelbock), "Less Gentle On My Mind" (Double New England IPA), and "Remedy" (Imperial Stout). They were all good, especially the latter two. Moving Pictures also gave an excellent performance to the very energetic crowd. Overall, I had quite an enjoyable evening and I hope to return to HRB!

They are nestled near some trees and has a very nice outdoor area. We went on a Saturday night when it was busy, but the service was excellent. There was enough outdoor seating on the patio and front of the building. They had live music and a food truck which was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. I really enjoyed that they had table service outside rather than having to go back into the bar. The server was very attentive. He made some small talk, which was nice and not too over bearing. Now the important part- the beer! We decided to get flights since we only find ourselves in the north west part of the state a few times of the year. I tried the fruited Shandy, an IPA, the black IPA and the porter. I am throughly impressed by all. The shandy was so refreshing- nice for a summer day. The IPA was hoppy (as always) and a little sweet so it was refreshing also. The Black IPA tasted more like a coffee porter but I was a fan! The porter was also very good, I liked it more than the Black IPA. Had a little more body. I definitely look forward to visiting this place again!
