Spent copious amount of time looking up where to buy food and things to do. Sadly, talking to some of the locals and further reading some of these things weren't available. Part of the reason to go to Molokai was to visit the leper colony, Kalaupapa but it was still not open to tourists. We did go to the lookout for a view. Absolutely stunning.... Got sidetracked back to the condo. It was very affordable at $124/night, staying 4 nights. It was also clean and well supplied for beach items, bedding and towels. The kitchen was a bit short on supplies but we made it work. The condo was very quiet, which was incredible, listening to the wings, which never seemed to let up. Each morning we were greeted by the rooster walking around, welcoming the first rays of light. Along with the rosters, there were hens, turkeys, peacocks and a few cats that stopped by during the week. Grocery shopping was done in Kaunakakai, 20 miles away at Friendly Market or Misaki's. Prices were expensive but that was to be expected. We also got some local food from people selling on the street. The laulau was amazing. The bread from Kanemitsu's Bakery was amazing and affordable. The beach at the resort wasn't bad, but the surf was very rough, crashing right at the beach making our tough to get in and out. The beach itself was nice, quiet with very few people. Some nice trails to walk, including the now defunct and overgrown golf course, carts paths are still intact. This isn't glitzy and glamorous. No 5 star hotels or restaurants to eat at. Still sold good local island food can be found at the poke trucks in town and at Mana'e Goods & Grindz! Can never go warring with a moco! It was my speed, enjoying every moment of it, more than Maui, five days later. No commercialization and very few tourists. Rental car was cheap, and the flight runs trip on Mokulele was fun. You want retro Hawaii, this is it! Great time, friendly people. This is Hawaii!

They did an excellent job of keeping the place clean! The grounds were well landscaped with large grassy areas and lots of native flowering plants. We also enjoyed seeing the wild turkeys, peacocks and deers. There were wonderful trails to walk on along the road and previous golf course. It is located along a beach that has amazing sunsets. You can walk to the beach from your room and walk along the beach but the water is not for swimming. It is too rough and rocky. The pool is great and even has a hot tub. We also enjoyed the various grills and trash cans across the grounds. They also had a tennis court and library! We will be interested in returning again!

I was not able to play tourist as this party had to end by 2pm and I had commitments thereafter. But for future hotel guests information, they also have dolphins for you to see. The food here was incredible and of good quality. Good for any type of gatherings of any size breakfast, lunch or dinner. Bartenders and service at the bar was even better! The amount of attention every table was receiving was amazing, glasses were never empty and always started with a full pour. Self parking was completely full, although valet parking service was a better idea. Keep in mind this is a full service 5 star property located in Kahala/Waialae. Would love to be a hotel guest one of these days just to say I've stayed at The Kahala Resort.

I was simply on my way to pick up my drink from the seating area and then head to the bar to pay. He told me I was "going the wrong way" when the way I was going would have led to me to the bar... The way this team handles tabs in this bar is abysmal. Right when I sat down, I was attempting to give my bartender my credit card to start a tab. They refused to accept my card and said don't worry about it, and that they'll take it after I'm done. I explicitly told the bartender that I was going over to the lawn right next to the bar (still in the restaurant area) to get a better view of the musical performance, drink in hand. We got engaged here and have returned multiple times over the years, making countless memories. As a loyal Marriott member, I always looked forward to coming back. Unfortunately, this most recent stay left us feeling like the resort has lost the charm and hospitality that once made it so special. For the price guests pay to stay here, the experience simply does not match the cost. What stood out most was the apparent difference in how guests are treated compared to locals utilizing the pool and resort amenities. As paying resort guests, we often felt like an afterthought rather than valued customers. The pool and food service experience was particularly disappointing. The wait staff consistently came across as rude, rushed, and uninterested in providing the level of service you would expect from a luxury resort. While I don't place all the blame on the employees themselves, they appeared overworked, understaffed, and unsupported by management. When employees are not set up for success, it inevitably impacts the guest experience--and unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. Another odd aspect of the property is the collection of independent shops operating within the resort. Multiple times we were reminded that they were not affiliated with the hotel, which created a fragmented and somewhat uncomfortable experience. Rather than feeling like part of a cohesive luxury resort, it often felt like a collection of separate businesses sharing the same property. What makes this so disappointing is knowing what Turtle Bay used to be. It once had a unique, relaxed Hawaiian charm that made it worth returning to year after year. Today, it feels more like a tourist-focused revenue machine than the welcoming destination we remembered. For a resort carrying the Ritz-Carlton name and commanding premium prices, we expected much more. Sadly, after this visit, we don't feel any desire to return. It's unfortunate to say, but the memories we have from previous visits are far better than the experience we had this time around. I truly hope management takes a hard look at the guest experience and works to bring back the hospitality and character that made Turtle Bay such a special place in the first place.

If you're a couple and you are there for more than two days you'll appreciate the ability of the early riser to get up, make some coffee and hang on the lanai without disturbing the one of you who likes to sleep in. The bathroom was large and luxurious and supplied with really nice Le Labo soaps, shampoos and lotions. In addition, the property is immaculate and the public spaces are beautiful. There are three attractive pools -- one of which is adult only and there's a beach with attended lounge chairs at the bottom edge of the property. Our stay included the breakfast buffet, which had a wide assortment of choices that were nicely prepared. A downside of the hotel is that they host a number of corporate events and it can sometimes feel a bit crowded. Many mornings during our stay, there was a good size line at the host's station to be seated for breakfast. And once we were seated, navigating the buffet stations was a bit hectic. Similarly, the lounge chairs on the beach are within inches of each other. When sitting on your lanai, the music from one corporate cocktail event or another provides the soundtrack for the evenings. And one final nit -- the Nespresso capsules in the room were very nice, but the coffee served at breakfast was abysmal. So don't get me wrong. This is a very nice place and we had an enjoyable stay. But if you're sensitive to having your own space most of the time, this might not work for you.

We stayed on-property in the Protea bungalow which is set back from the beach on this property and pretty close to Kamehameha Highway. Great unit - more space than the two of us needed; two day-beds on the deck were awesome for relaxing. It is noteworthy that you hear traffic out the windows and on the deck of this unit, so if you're a light sleeper, you may need to close windows at night. You will hear music booming frequently on your deck as some of the cars passing by love to share their tunes at hi-volume. For some reason during our stay we heard a rumbling noise from the adjacent unit at night and told Carly in management about it, but she never followed -up. The unit became occupied after a couple more days and the noise stopped probably because the new tenant shut off whatever was making the noise (maybe a ceiling fan with bad bearings?). There's a handful of restaurants, a grocery store, a new retro-themed bowling alley, and movie theater. There are also a couple of hiking trails by the hotel. If you walk towards the beach, towards the left there's a short hike, and on the right is a longer hike along the water. The hike on the right is much harder--I'd describe it as an ankle breaker. It's mostly hiking over a lot of rocks, so you'll want to have the appropriate shoes, plenty of water, and go early in the morning to try to avoid the sun.
