This review is difficult to write because The Ritz-Carlton Turtle Bay has held a special place in our hearts for years. We got engaged here and have returned multiple times over the years, making countless memories. As a loyal Marriott member, I always looked forward to coming back. Unfortunately, this most recent stay left us feeling like the resort has lost the charm and hospitality that once made it so special. For the price guests pay to stay here, the experience simply does not match the cost. What stood out most was the apparent difference in how guests are treated compared to locals utilizing the pool and resort amenities. As paying resort guests, we often felt like an afterthought rather than valued customers. The pool and food service experience was particularly disappointing. The wait staff consistently came across as rude, rushed, and uninterested in providing the level of service you would expect from a luxury resort. While I don't place all the blame on the employees themselves, they appeared overworked, understaffed, and unsupported by management. When employees are not set up for success, it inevitably impacts the guest experience--and unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. Another odd aspect of the property is the collection of independent shops operating within the resort. Multiple times we were reminded that they were not affiliated with the hotel, which created a fragmented and somewhat uncomfortable experience. Rather than feeling like part of a cohesive luxury resort, it often felt like a collection of separate businesses sharing the same property. What makes this so disappointing is knowing what Turtle Bay used to be. It once had a unique, relaxed Hawaiian charm that made it worth returning to year after year. Today, it feels more like a tourist-focused revenue machine than the welcoming destination we remembered. For a resort carrying the Ritz-Carlton name and commanding premium prices, we expected much more. Sadly, after this visit, we don't feel any desire to return. It's unfortunate to say, but the memories we have from previous visits are far better than the experience we had this time around. I truly hope management takes a hard look at the guest experience and works to bring back the hospitality and character that made Turtle Bay such a special place in the first place. read more

it's the 4th of July, I love this bar, have been there multiple times. I was waiting on appetizers after being served only one drink since I had walked in an hour previous, when I went to order another after my food came out they refused to serve me again "until I had something to eat" after getting off their resort beach without food all day, the previous part of the day; but could not tell me why other than, "that's what i was told" "I don't know"... as to why? Had a chance to stay at this beautiful resort for a few days and really appreciated the pretty grounds. Not sure the price point met the experience, but nonetheless, we had a sweeping view of the beach from our hotel room. The hotel room was okay. I could tell the rooms were a bit older. The couch became a pull out bed, so that was convenient. Not a lot of food choices around the resort which was a bit tough, but luckily there were some food trucks down the road in a couple of areas. The pools were great and the kids had a blast on the slide. The adults did too! There's a great spot from the poolside to watch the surf and enjoy the sunset. The Magical place for any occasion, This is by far the best place in the north shore of Oahu in my personal opinion and comes with a pricy bill but is worth every penny. I been in so many of The Ritz Carlton properties around the world but when In in Hawaii and don't want to be in Honolulu I stay here away from the crowds and with the best sunsets in Oahu. I must give a shout out to the ballet parking folks because they are helpful and awesome always there if you need anything. Caught a glimpse of partial rainbow. Surrounded by 360 degrees stunning views of the ocean. Surfers catching and riding the waves. Coola sunscreen available for those that need to apply some before suntanning or taking a dip in the pool. Infinity pool, swimming pool, jacuzzi, and water slide are smaller in size. Cool to have pool loungers, cabanas, palapa, and spacious beach. I love how there's an abundance of indoor and outdoor areas to relax on the property. Lots of locals attended a company Christmas party at one of the ballrooms. A familiar, local bruddah asked, "Are you here for the Christmas party?" I responded, "No, how about you?" Another local gal struck up a conversation and told me, "My parents are here for their company Christmas party and pointed to the ballroom." There's an ice maker, hydration station, and packets of laundry detergent dispensing machine, washers and dryers on all floors. Employees are outgoing and very customer service oriented. Food and beverages are offered at pool side. You're able to charge it to your room. Concierge was available to assist us when we had questions. Anticipate paying higher prices for indoor and outdoor activities, food and beverages. Devoured tasty appetizers at Off The Lip. Later, whisked away in a golf cart with others by one of the workers to a tent with hot cocoa, few complimentary alcohol that complements hot cocoa, games, and make your own smores at the fire pit. Transported in a covered wagon with two horses, a few workers, and a few other families for Christmas lights and music for an hour. We also participated in a Scavenger Hunt which is free for registered guests. Yet, very surprised to score a bowl of Cheerios on sale for 99 cents at The Shop. Bathroom is spacious. Double sinks with lights around the mirrors. Curiosity peaked my interest. Is there a bidet? None. Where's the microwave? Not here. Awww! Shux! Let me know if a room on the property offers it. My family and I just recently had the best time at RC Turtle Bay and we can't wait to go back!! We hadn't been to Oahu in almost 15 years and this time decided to stay up in the North Shore, and so very glad we did! Rented a jeep and made the just over an hour drive from airport in Honolulu to RC Turtle Bay. What a gorgeous drive, especially the east side of island route where you get amazing views of the coastline. We were lucky enough to get to stay in the Ocean Bungalows. They are epic. Private check in and private self parking right near the Bungalows. Bungalow is huge!! Very recently renovated and look stunning! Very comfortable king bed and large sleeper sofa. Huge bathroom with giant soaking tub and large shower. Lanai has lounging areas and a big dining table. Bungalows have their own tranquility pool. It's a nice sized infinity pool that is heated perfected and exclusive to bungalow guests. This pool is serviced by its own bartender!! Short jaunt over the bridge to the main resort with several pools including large kids pool with two water slides but also a separate adults only pool. Restaurants are fantastic! Definitely recommend getting Club Lounge access on your room if possible. It was clutch! Guaranteed good breakfast and lunch if your on resort and includes alcohol (beer/wine). Food in the Club Lounge was excellent. Across from Lounge is the beautiful fitness center which beyond having everything you need, has the best views in the world!! Several cool retail shops and nice general store to pick up items and small bites/drinks you may need. Great spot on North Shore to then head out to explore other amazing locations (e.g. Kawela Bay, Haleiwa, etc). Definitely will be back with the whole family!! read more

Wait a minute..... since when did Turtle Bay become The Ritz Carlton?! If I am not mistaken it happened sometime this year per talking with one of the staff at the pool. This is even better, staying at a Ritz property, a bonus during my recent weekend staycation. This is when I found out I made Titanium status, can you tell that I LOVE staycations, either here or on the other islands. While doing a last minute search, I got a great rate. Happy dance... woohoo! I have not been or stayed at Turtle Bay before Ritz, I cannot compare what the difference would be but let's start with checking in at the front desk, wow! it was a busy weekend, the line was long but good thing the staff worked quick and there were 3 front desk staff. Merlina ( Spelling ?) was awesome & friendly, she checked us, we got our bracelet keys, parking pass, resort info. & even welcome leis, yes even though we are Kama'aina. It showed up nice in our tons of photos we took in the room & lanai, hehe. Thank you for the ocean view and Wow! We got high floors (5th), being a first timer & newbie I was amazed by the view even walking to our room from the elevator, the property is stunning & omg breathtaking ocean views for sure! We got the pool side view along with ocean. I was attached to the view on our balcony and didn't want to leave. I could sit out there forever, we did finally leave the room for exploring the trails and then pool, jacuzzi after. I had the most pool & jacuzzi time here. This property offers a range of amenities and activities including, multiple dining options, Nalu Spa, fitness center, Pickle ball, tennis courts, biking, hiking trails, bike tours, and golf course. We didn't dine on property but picked up food instead, If you didn't make a stop for food, drinks, or need last minute goods, check out the Holoholo market. Our room was nice and it looks & feel like Ritz Standard, the only complaint that I have in room #506 is one of the Queen beds near the lanai, wooden part is sticking out, we kicked in to this a few times. ( see photos) We had the bestest, amazing, magical stays, wish we could stay longer than a day, but it was sad to leave, we said our goodbyes to our room! This is a review for the outdoor venue space at Turtle Bay. I recently went for the Palm Tree festival and it was a super organized festival and overall the vibes were great all around! Parking was $25 and by the time we showed up, about an hour after the doors opened -- we were one of the first one's in the second lot that they had opened up. It was pretty cool being able to drive and park on the golf course. There was very clear signage and tons of staff to help you get to where you needed to go. We did have a bit of a walk from our parking spot to th main entrance but the walk was either paved or really nice grass. Not like some other music festivals where you are walking miles in the dirt and dust. It was super easy to walk into will-call and get our wristbands, we barely had to wait in any lines from getting our tickets, security, and even drinks! I don't think we ever waited longer than 2 minutes-- and the day we went tickets were actually sold out! For our safety and experience, I'm so glad that they limited the tickets and capacity. We had ate before we got there but the food selections looked really good-- we thought about getting these calamansi fried chicken wings but was having too much fun that we didn't end up eating until we got home. I was so happy to get home before midnight, the festival wrapped up at 11 pm but we headed out around 10:45 and didn't get caught up in any traffic getting out of the parking lot or driving out of the North Shore. I'll be keeping an eye out for the next music festival hosted here! read more

We stayed overnight at Turtle Bay to celebrate my husband's birthday. He's been wanting to check this place out for a long time, and I'm so glad we finally did! The resort is so exclusive, and it feels like a true escape that lets you connect with nature. We had a great time hiking the short trails in the area, spotting sea turtles,petting the horses, and watching the big waves and beautiful sunset. We were able to check in early at 11:30 am and we were greeted with leis at the reception. Mahalo nui to Melina at the front desk, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable! She welcomed us with such kindness and aloha from the moment we arrived. We were also lucky enough to get an upgrade to an ocean-view room with a bigger lanai, plus we were gifted with a complimentary bottle of champagne to enjoy. The lobby has a great ambiance. There were still some renovations in progress since some parts of the hotel are a bit dated. However, I noticed the hotel was well-maintained and clean, especially the elevators, and all the staff we encountered were so nice, helpful and friendly. Aside from being close to nature, the friendly staff and great amenities and activities at the resort, another great part of this hotel is its location because it is just a couple of minutes away from the Sugarmill plantation, where you'll find delicious food trucks serving Hawaiian ono grindz. We really enjoyed our brief stay and we'll definitely be back! Highly recommend Turtle Bay for anyone looking to relax, connect with nature, and be treated like a valued guest. read more

Thank you everyone for making our dreams come true! I chose Turtle Bay to be the place where I proposed to my girlfriend, now fiancé. EVERYONE was extremely welcoming and made us feel at home. Kawena was my primary contact for the big day and she was very responsive and did her very best to make sure our day was perfection. Mefi filled in here and there, and was fantastic. Seya had a great positive attitude to get the moment started as she picked us up with the shuttle cart. It started to pour rain, but she reminded us that it was actually a blessing, liquid sunshine, and after the quick downpour the sky opened up and never rained again! Josh and Robert executed our photos and videos to perfection for our engagement. They were extremely creative with getting the right angles for capturing our special moment. Truly an amazing resort! Everything about Turtle Bay is designed for the ultimate in fun and relaxation. There are a variety of housing options, depending on your group size and price point. There are standard hotel rooms and of course upgraded hotel rooms. There are townhouses on the property which about the golf course... I'm not sure if these are technically owned by turtle Bay or if they are independently owned and operated, but they certainly provide a cheaper option for families and large groups to share space. And of course, there are the beachside cabanas, which are worth the splitter for special occasions! The dining options are wonderful. There are two sit down restaurants, the poolside bar and grill, and of course room service. In addition, if you stay in certain courses of rooms and purchase club level access, Thursday club lounge with snacks and drinks available all day and prepared grab and go food three times a day. There are multiple pools and beaches to explore. There are plenty of activities both on site and nearby. If you are considering a trip here... do it!! read more

"D" took great care of us at the beach, giving us towels and seating area with an umbrella. He made us feel so welcome. Finally, Cherae was the one who helped us confirm our reservation. Her aloha spirit, along with her peers, supersedes our expectations - and we're humble, simple people. Everyone here is so friendly. Didn't stay here but spent some time walking around the lobby and out at their bar by the water. The hotel is situated on a peninsula with predominately ocean views. The decor emphasizes a high end natural setting with neutral tones and spaces that seamlessly transition out into its environment. Obviously, there are beaches steps from the hotel. Hung out at their outdoor bar, Sunset at Turtle Bay, and ordered an appetizer with a few cocktails & beers. The vibe was relaxing and the food/drinks were great. Just spent 6 nights at the Ritz-Carlton Turtle Bay. The experience was top notch. From the moment we checked in we felt the attention to detail and genuine compassion from staff. Angel at the front desk was super accommodating and even upgraded our room. Snacks in the room, flowers from a friend made our space feel like home. The experience at the pool was great, shoutout to Shaun for giving us the best service and recommendations for things to do on and off property. Devin who was working the pool almost everyday made sure we were taken care of and even located a very important item I lost poolside. He found me hours later and made sure it was returned to me! The restaurant on the beach was great, drinks were delicious and we shared a few different dishes. The resort is huge and as two very active people my wife and I enjoyed the runs along miles of trails and beach. You're able to feel like you're getting more of a genuine experience as you run or walk through old trails and along the coastline . Arguably the highlight of the trip came in an unexpected place as Jackie from the hospitality and room service team blew us away. We took time to chat and get to know her and she's one of the kindest most attentive people I've ever encountered, not just in the hotel industry but life! I know people nitpick some of the very small details and compare it to other Ritz Carlton locations but whatever this hotel may lack in thread count more than makes up for in service. Terrible experience as a result of a Ritz Carlton employee. I accidentally dropped my rental car key in the parking lot when I left my car and one of the employees picked up my car key on her way to her car and decided to not turn it in and just go home!! I looked for about 2-3 hours for my key, from around 1:30-4am... I had to cover the distance from Roy's all the way to both hot tubs several times, and my phone died because I was using my flashlight. The Front Desk called Security to help me after I couldn't find it and Security didn't even have flashlights to use, they use the flashlights on their phones! I found out later that they do have flashlights available. Since my phone died I asked the front desk employees who told me there were no iPhone chargers available which I found out later was also incorrect and they had chargers in room service. So I couldn't call anyone to pick me up for a ride to where I was staying in Pupukea because all my numbers were stored in my phone, and I couldn't call a taxi from the front desk because they would come from Honolulu and needed payment prior to coming to the north shore. My debit card was locked in my car and I couldn't use apple pay on my dead phone. I called AAA using the front desk phone but they couldn't come until 8-9am so my only option was to walk home 7 miles to Pupukea. After about 20 min of walking it started to rain heavily and i was only wearing sandals, boardshorts and a button up short sleeve shirt. Took me about 2 hours to get home and that was with intermittent jogging which wasn't easy in the pitch dark and wearing sandals. My ankles were so sore the next few days because of running in sandals and I was limping in the airport. It definitely hurt to walk. I didn't get a call from the front desk until 2pm the next day from the lady Lee (not sure how to spell her name) who basically stole my car key FOB and she gave the dumbest excuse saying, "I didn't know what it was so I just put it in my purse." How could she not know what a key Fob is that has the Honda Logo on it? By the time she had called me I had already gone back to turtle Bay in the morning to try to find my key during daylight, obviously to no success because she was a possession of it, and the owner of the car didn't want me to get a new key fob made because it would deactivate his spare, so I had already driven down to Honolulu to meet the owner of the car (from Turo) to get his spare key FOB and was halfway back to north shore when I got the call from Lee. What makes matters worse is when I called a week later to complain because I was mildly traumatized from this entire experience and I realized how messed up the situation was that she put me in, on my last night and day in Hawaii no less, I call and talk to the front desk Manager, Gi Campos, who wouldn't even apologize and had the audacity to tell me it was my fault that I dropped it in the first place and that I should be GRATEFUL that she found it because someone else may have taken it or it may not have worked if it got wet. I would much rather anyone else have found it because they would've done the right thing and actually turned it in. Absolutely horrendous customer service. If I could press charges on her or the company I would for putting me in a dangerous situation stranding me and forcing me to walk home. I actually should talk to a lawyer. After I got off the phone with Gi I realized I didn't get the contact info of his manager, and when I called back guess who picked up? It was Lee so i said "hey we actually spoke last week you're the one who found my key fob." And she replied "oh you had the Honda right?" So she knew it was a key fob to a car! Then she gave a different excuse saying she stepped on it and thought she dropped it so she just picked it up and put it in her purse. Also, she lied and said that it was pouring down rain, but I was outside the entire time and it was barely sprinkling at the time. She said she found it around 130. It didn't start pouring until after I started walking back to Pupukea where I was staying. I reach out to corporate and sent an email describing what happened and they responded in a few days apologizing for the inconvenience and hardship I had to endure because of the actions of their employee, and said: "I'm truly sorry for the stress, discomfort, and safety concerns you endured that night. What should have been a simple visit turned into a difficult and exhausting situation, and I completely understand how upsetting that must have been. I want to assure you that your concerns, especially regarding the handling of lost items and the availability of basic guest-support tools, are being taken seriously. The hotel will be reviewing your experience in detail, and a response and resolution will be provided within three to five business days." Sent by Mel G. Our first visit under the Ritz flag, our 3rd visit to the property. We had been reticent to visit, as the room prices now are in the stratosphere. Our previous visits were nice but not much better than a Marriott stay. Happy to report that the Ritz and the improvements have made this one of the nicest stays on Oahu! Of particular note are all the listed activities that are now available. Some of the activity offerings are an addition cost. I took the $40 Pilates class and was delighted by the quality of instruction. The rooms and expansive space has been bespokenly appointed and now feels sophisticated and hip. We were genuinely excited when we heard that Turtle Bay had been taken over by Ritz-Carlton. We had stayed here before--loved the beautiful surroundings, but the service was average, which we understood since it wasn't previously managed by a top luxury brand. Because we always enjoy Ritz-Carlton during our vacations--especially my husband, who insists on returning to Ritz Waikiki almost every year because of its consistent excellence--we expected the same high standard here. We spent our first three nights at Ritz-Carlton Waikiki, and as always, the experience was outstanding: warm greetings, smiles, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality. Sadly, none of that existed at Turtle Bay. From parking to check-in, there was no sense of welcome. The front desk associate didn't smile, didn't offer a map, and didn't explain where the elevators or club lounge were. She even yawned multiple times during check-in, which set the tone for what felt more like a three-star hotel experience. My kids even asked why we "downgraded" hotels--and were shocked when I told them this was supposed to be Ritz-Carlton. Throughout the property, employees rarely greeted us, and many seemed irritated or uninterested. It felt nothing like the warm, polished service we expect from Ritz. Although the hotel offers many activities, most were fully booked. When we asked for help, they told us to call at 7:00 AM and wait in line for possible openings. We came here for vacation, not to stress about waitlists. When we arrived at the room, the floor was sandy, and despite having four guests, only two sets of amenities were provided. At the beach, staff questioned my kids in a rude manner, asking if they were actually hotel guests. Even after verifying their stay, they didn't offer towels or help set up chairs--so my kids just left. The club lounge was the only place that felt like true Ritz-quality service. But overall, there was no "wow" factor--especially since we have stayed here before. Another disappointment--when my 11-year-old wanted to use the treadmill, we were told she could not use the gym because she was under 15, even though the posted rules didn't mention this. She felt completely left out while her older sister and dad were allowed in. We truly love Ritz-Carlton properties, but this location did not meet the brand's standards. Sadly, we would not return. I want to start off by saying the views from the hotel are amazing. We got a room facing the beach. The resort itself is also beautiful. Now the problem I have is that being labeled a ritz Carlton should come with certain expectations. Nice bed, nice bedding, comfortable pillows, soft towels. The bed was dated, every time my husband moved in the bed, I bounced with him. The sheets were a bit scratchy and the pillows were so lumpy. The bath towel were also very low quality. I usually stay at the Hilton brands and actually expected it to be better quality than the Hilton garden inn. They must save those for the elite customers. If you don't care about the small stuff then this is an excellent place to go If I'm paying ritz Carlton prices I expect ritz Carlton luxury. Or am I delusional?!? read more

I really like the remodel that has been done at Turtle Bay Resort. Everything from the entry to the lobby to the rooms has a refined look, and of course the water views and sunsets are amazing. The pool isn't the largest, so I recommend heading to the beach which has calm waves and lots of room. Or if you prefer relaxing at the pool there are a good number of chairs, both at the regular pool and the adult one. The restaurant on site (Alaia) is pretty good, and there is also a coffee bar, but I recommend walking down to Roy's Beach House for the best meals. One minor gripe I had was the bath doors have those blinds where all sounds go through, including actions at the toilet if you know what I mean. I wish they had remodeled with doors that were more solid. And the shower configuration practically ensures you'll splash water all over the floor, so that design was questionable too. But overall we enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning! read more

We just finished checking out of our 9 day 8 night stay and there many pros as some cons. It just depends on your preferences and your attention to details. The pros: The common areas of the grounds are absolutely stunning and clean. The layout, design and decor accord perfectly to capture the beauty of the island and the essence of relaxation, a real getaway. They have multiple pools, an ok gym good for an essential workout but not for a leg day if you wanted to have one, multiple activities and some dining - there's something here for everyone. They have a cove conveniently located next to the resort which you can access through the back doors but you will need water shoes because it's quite rocky. The staff is overall friendly, well mannered and kind. The cons: The price tag one is paying for a Ritz Cartlon experience comes with Ritz Carlton expectations for their living quarters to be as pristine as the common grounds. The first room we were given (412 - king bed with lanai) was absolutely beautiful, amazing view, clean and well designed however, the bath area had a double sink, small closet, steamer, iron & safe however it did not have slippers or bathrobe, the shower area had one floor to ceiling glass panel covering half of the shower but did not have a door and all of the water pooled outside of the ledge on the floor. Also, the hardware for the shower needs changing - it had significant water buildup, mildew and goop on it. The small fridge in the room didn't refrigerate much. I called guest services to mention the issues and was dismissed. We later received a phone survey asking about our experience to which we said we were not experiencing great service which is when we were contacted by management and we were able to receive a solution. We were moved to a room 2 floors above -612 and the room layout was similar, we preferred the previous layout but at least the new room had a walk in shower with a door and a tub. This shower heads also had significant water, mildew and goop buildup - so it seems that this is their standard. Lastly, our room was not serviced by housekeeping on our last night. We did not receive fresh towels, coffee mugs as we used them earlier, body wash refill or have our bed refreshed which is also this particular hotel's standard apparently as I've never experienced paying for a night and not having my room serviced. We showered before heading out and there was no body wash because they hadn't serviced the room - we used shampoo instead. Other Key details: - the resort takes a $1600 deposit upon check in for fees and room charges that may be accrued. We asked for an itemized printout of the charges as they were charging over $800 from the deposit taken and noted they were overcharging approx $200 for multiple valet transactions that had not taken place. They did remove them when we brought it to their attention so keep an eye on your charges while there. - Everything as far as activities is at least 50 minutes or longer of a drive to arrive. Beaches are close by but not walkable outside of the cove. Next to the hotel. - Someone knocked our door at about 9am on checkout morning to ask if we "needed anything before heading out" but the general gesture made us feel rushed, prematurely kicked out. I did not like this at all, it was tacky and rude. Overall: the location and common grounds are a getaway and quiet for the most part but the resort is overpriced for the key details that they neglect. I don't think we will return or recommend this to anyone. For that price tag you can try the four seasons or look for something less expensive that will have the same or better level of detail in their living quarter upkeep. read more

A 2-star hotel with a Ritz-Carlton name slapped on it. Don't be fooled. Let me start with the one positive: the setting is beautiful. That's where the good news ends. And I want to preface this by saying I stayed here in 2010 and 2017 before it got bought by ritz Carlton so I was very much looking forward to seeing the changes (or lack thereof). The lobby is gorgeous and definitely has the wow factor. It seems like this is where they spent the bulk of the money in renovations. The rooms are flat-out gross. Urine stains around the toilet. Mold on the ceiling. Mold in the shower. A tattered shower curtain that had no business being in any hotel room, let alone one charging luxury rates. Water pressure barely functional. Mattresses old and sunken in, bouncing with the slightest movement. Worn out bedding with yellowed pillowcases. Lumpy old pillows. An overall grungy feel that made you not want to touch anything. This is not what the Ritz-Carlton name should represent -- period. The beach is a scam. They advertise it as an exclusive amenity justifying the resort fee of $55 per night. What they don't mention is that literal busloads of outside visitors get dropped off daily -- loud, disruptive, setting up speakers, completely taking over the space. It's chaotic and absolutely not what you'd expect from a luxury resort. Management does nothing. Beach chairs and umbrellas sit unregulated, freely used by non-guests while paying customers compete for space. You are paying a resort fee for an amenity the general public has essentially commandeered. The staff? Largely unpleasant. Bad attitudes, indifferent service, and zero attention to the details that define the Ritz-Carlton brand. The hallmark of this company is supposed to be anticipating guest needs and caring about the particulars. These staff simply do not care. And here's the thing -- it shows in everything. This is an older property that was not built by Ritz-Carlton. It was rebranded. And you can feel it the moment you walk in. The finishes, the feel, the quality -- it reads more like a 2-star hotel than a luxury resort. The Ritz name is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, and the property cannot back it up. I escalated my concerns formally after checkout. I'd encourage anyone with a similar experience to do the same -- and more importantly, to book elsewhere. There are luxury properties in Hawaii that actually deliver on their promise. This is not one of them. read more

This property is lovely and very family-oriented. I'm writing this as Ka Maina. Unfortunately, I may have visited at the wrong time--it's much more humid here than in Honolulu. Further, the 90-minute drive added to the discomfort. The staff were friendly, but they didn't quite embody the level of service I've come to expect from other Ritz resorts. Along the check-in line (maybe I came at the wrong time?). At times, I felt more like I was at a Hyatt. This raises the question: is this still a soft opening? Adding to the disappointment, the valet forgot to bring my car to the front and only realized after a 15-minute wait when they finally handed the key to the staff. While they apologized, that signature Ritz-Carlton touch--something that sets it apart--was missing. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what, but the experience didn't quite feel like the Ritz standard. So I keep asking myself, is this worth it? The other reviewer's comment is truly correct. This place is absolutely gorgeous from a non-local perspective. So, please do not get discouraged from visiting this place. But I could only give three stars this time. read more

You'll have to pick your jaw up off the floor the moment you step inside the lobby entrance and take a look around. The VIEWS are bliss -- pure nirvana. The panoramic ocean scenery lit will stop you in your tracks. Besides the beyond gorgeous landscape and location I will share a few thoughts... Pros: * All staff lovely and welcoming. * The BEST SMELLING lobby, lonby bathrooms, and overall grounds (smells like fresh ocean meets freshly laundered clothing). * The BEST SMELLING shampoo/conditioner/body lotion in the bathrooms (it is puakenikeni scent). * The tvs in the room are super easy to cast to, meaning you can easily watch Netflix or Max from off your iPhone. * The Holoholo Market at the resort seemed always open had many convenient items like after-sun lotion, beers and wine, and snacks. * We loved the reusable water bottles and water-fill stations all over the resort. Con's: * Housekeeping was below average. We had to wait until almost 3-4pm one day. On another day a housekeeper left their personal cell phone on our nightstand. And trash was left in our room a few times. * No nice personal touches from housekeepers like placing a cleaning cloth under our sunglasses, or a little cosmetic pad under my toiletries, or folding of miscellaneous clothing laying about. Also, ice buckets weren't filled in the evenings, and there is no turn-down service in the evening either. * Beach and pool servers were also below average. You don't get quick friendly service when laying out at the pool or on the beach. Even after renting a covered beach daybed we weren't serviced with towels, fresh ice water or menus. Also, the adult pool sits directly above the kids pool, so it's not private and you can see/hear kids playing and yelling. Conclusion: I think the surrounding beauty of Turtle Bay is better than Four Seasons Ko'olina. It was so electrifying to look out at the crashing waves and surfers so close to the resort. However, overall, Turtle Bay falls short of all the luxuries that a Four Seasons has. Mostly in small details, but I really like royalty at FS, and I didn't always feel that here. read more

This is not your typical Ritz Carlton brand hotel. While you are paying for the brand the standards are not there as they are still transitioning. Location, view, lobby area and staff are awesome but rooms are run down. Pictures attached of the quality of the linens placed in the rooms. Beddings didn't look clean, rooms looked dirty as they are worn out. TV didn't work most days and very weak wifi signal especially for those trying to work here.We came back from the beach after the room was cleaned and found peanuts in our room which we never carry due to allergies. Reported this to the front desk and were told someone will get back to us and till now, nothing. There are 3 pools, 1 is adult only, a smaller one attached to the water slide. Pool was no fun as it was closed due to some kid throwing up or popping. We stayed mainly at the beach area which was crowded but a better option than the pool. Beach is shared amongst other hotel or airbnb guest. There is no security in place to ensure outsiders are not wondering around the facility's. We had random people sitting in the beach area allocated for guest. There is zero monitoring so you have to be careful when leaving your things behind. Service was good at the sunset and lobby bar. Beach bar area was very slow. There is a coffee shop in the lobby offering breakfast items cheaper than eating at the restaurant. Overall this location is one and done for me unless they revamp and live up to the Ritz Carlton standards. For now not worth your money. read more

Probably top 2 or 3 best hotels I've ever stayed at. The whole experience was relaxing, soul healing, and fun. Food was top notch. Staff was friendly, patient, and helpful. Both pools were really nice especially the slides for the kids. We rented bikes for free and rode around the area. The convenience store was exactly that, convenient. The rooms could have been a bit nicer to Ritz Carlton standards, but that wouldn't stop my family and I from coming every year. Luxurious and beautiful. For some reason the YouTube reviews we watched made it sound like Turtle Bay Resort is gimmicky and that isn't the vibe AT ALL. This is no doubt a luxury resort. It's being bought out by Ritz Carlton (or already is), and that's obvious as soon as you step on site. After a visit to more crowded Waikiki, the country views here are soul-soothing. There's something about the sun and air in Hawaii that is restorative and healing unlike any other place. The sky and water, dazzling shades of "only-Hawaiian-blue." This resort expertly captures on that feeling of serenity and beauty. We started our visit with their bumpin' happy hour by the pool and ocean as we sipped drinks, listened to the DJ spin, and watched the sun sink. This resort has great excursions that seize on the rural area like bird watching, canoeing, horse stables, and a farm tour. We took advantage of the family photo shoot and enjoyed the horse-back riding which takes you along the beach trail. That was unique and a decent price compared to some of the others. Several great dining options. We did a breakfast at Alaia which is pricey but features fresh produce from the nearby farm and the freshness shows. Beach House was great for dinner. Roy Yamaguchi is a flavor artist! Fine Dining within a beachside joint. The staff were so nice and attentive. The rooms are big and contemporarily decorated. The beach here is small and more secluded. There's a little surf beach along the path to the bungalows for those who want to try surf lessons. There was something so chill and not overly "resorty" about their pool so we were drawn there for much of our stay. Considering all of this, Turtle Bay Resort really is great for families but luxurious enough for childless couples to fully enjoy too. (We caught a glimpse...the bungalows have their own bartender by the pool!) Party, relax, adventure. You get it all, perfectly balanced. Cosmopolitan meets coastal-country under the tropical Hawaiian sun. It doesn't get much better than that. read more

We came to the Ritz-Carlton Turtle Bay with very high expectations, especially given the price point and the reputation of the Ritz brand. Unfortunately, during our 6-night stay, there were several cons that really stood out and made it hard to justify the cost. First, the valet experience was extremely inconsistent. For a luxury hotel, we were surprised that no one consistently came to assist us with our car. It was very hit or miss depending on who was working. Most of the time, we were left standing there unsure if we were supposed to approach the valet desk ourselves or wait to be helped. A few of the valet staff would just be chatting at the desk and took quite a while to even acknowledge us. This lack of attentiveness was disappointing for a resort at this level. Another very uncomfortable experience happened at Ho'olana Café. The woman who took my order came across as rude and unwelcoming. When I politely confirmed whether she heard me request almond milk, she hesitated and responded with an irritated half-smile and half-nod. It felt like I was inconveniencing her just by ordering. While waiting for my drink, I then overheard her aggressively scolding several coworkers about an incident from the previous day--right in front of guests. It was uncomfortable to witness and completely inappropriate for a setting that's supposed to reflect luxury, professionalism, and class. That said, the one true highlight of our stay was the waitress at the lobby bar. She was absolutely wonderful--consistently kind, attentive, and helpful every single night we visited. She often seemed to be handling the entire dining area on her own and did so with grace and a great attitude. She is the only person who truly made us feel like we were staying at a luxury hotel. She genuinely deserves recognition (and a raise). Overall, while the property itself is beautiful, the service fell short in key areas. Given the price and expectations associated with the Ritz-Carlton brand, I'm not sure we would choose to stay here again. read more

First- the positives. After staying at Turtle Bay Resort- pre- Covid and pre-Ritz- 100% the new experience is even better. Check in saw Jamie O' Brien (stoked) and got upgraded to a very impressive room (wifey is Titanium Bonvoy) Was presented with lei's and beads and cool scavenger hunt adventure for our daughter (very kid friendly). Got the free chairs and umbrella on the beach Lots of cool fish for our snorkel adventure at the hotel beach/bay and saw a turtle (duh- Turtle Bay) Free 1 hour bike ride with the family and checked a few items off the scavenger hunt list (it's a goat) Dinner at the hotel- the fresh fish entree with potato and Ikura was Umami greatness Had diner at Lei Lei's a couple nights- very cool and friendly vibes and a solid addition to the resort experience (although not officially part of Ritz) Negative next- had a funny experience when trying to take a drive to Pipe and Waimea. Valet lost our rental car. After 30 minutes of the Hawaiian version of "Dude where's my car" the guy pulled up with the wrong Beamer AND THEN tried to tell me it was my car. Eventually took the golf cart and found it and was on my way. Still not sure what happened there? Overall- our family has a bunch of roots in Hawaii and it has been our vacation spot and reprieve from the grind for decades. This trip was the tipping point to help us realize North Shore is the place to be for our family. No more split Waikiki time. My best friend was staying here for her 29th birthday and I wanted to have a few small birthday presents delivered. Not only was Kahau so so so kind and helpful, she also made sure everything was lovingly delivered to my best friend's door with all the love I could've asked for without physically being there (I hope I spelled your name right girl! You were lovely!). She was so professional over the phone as I was calling from Indiana. My girl also said the resort was breathtaking and as a person who loves to visit Hawaii and is always looking for a new destination, this will be my first choice. Staff is lovely, every photograph I've seen has been incredible, and the island speaks for itself.
