    Watch the surf

Had a chance to stay at this beautiful resort for a few days and really appreciated the pretty grounds. Not sure the price point met the experience, but nonetheless, we had a sweeping view of the beach from our hotel room. The hotel room was okay. I could tell the rooms were a bit older. The couch became a pull out bed, so that was convenient. Not a lot of food choices around the resort which was a bit tough, but luckily there were some food trucks down the road in a couple of areas. The pools were great and the kids had a blast on the slide. The adults did too! There's a great spot from the poolside to watch the surf and enjoy the sunset. Pretty views and definitely must check out!

I came to Oahu and stayed 2 weeks - amazing experience and highly recommend. The sunset views from my balcony was insane!

This the view during our nighttime walk.

The perfect place to have a Hawaiian vacation. It's hard to describe a place as close to perfect as this hotel. My wife and I stayed there for 2 nights and we wanted to stay longer! Service is great, the food was delicious and tasty - an expensive! No matter, this is luxury at its best! Our night time walk was magical. The trade winds were epic and it just made it that much more enjoyable! What a place!

Filet mignon..... salmon.... And then the most wonderful dessert..... beautiful night... service was spectacular....met all of our needs and then some.....

Feeling of country, nature, intertwined with modern ambience meets serenity. Awesome to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Fell asleep in chaise lounge chairs on lana'i and woke up to waves crashing on the reef. A private airplane flew by. Spotted two mongooses running across the lawn into the shrubs. Caught a glimpse of partial rainbow. Surrounded by 360 degrees stunning views of the ocean. Surfers catching and riding the waves. Coola sunscreen available for those that need to apply some before suntanning or taking a dip in the pool. Infinity pool, swimming pool, jacuzzi, and water slide are smaller in size. Cool to have pool loungers, cabanas, palapa, and spacious beach. I love how there's an abundance of indoor and outdoor areas to relax on the property. Lots of locals attended a company Christmas party at one of the ballrooms. A familiar, local bruddah asked, "Are you here for the Christmas party?" I responded, "No, how about you?" Another local gal struck up a conversation and told me, "My parents are here for their company Christmas party and pointed to the ballroom." There's an ice maker, hydration station, and packets of laundry detergent dispensing machine, washers and dryers on all floors. Employees are outgoing and very customer service oriented. Food and beverages are offered at pool side. You're able to charge it to your room. Concierge was available to assist us when we had questions. Anticipate paying higher prices for indoor and outdoor activities, food and beverages. Devoured tasty appetizers at Off The Lip. Later, whisked away in a golf cart with others by one of the workers to a tent with hot cocoa, few complimentary alcohol that complements hot cocoa, games, and make your own smores at the fire pit. Transported in a covered wagon with two horses, a few workers, and a few other families for Christmas lights and music for an hour. We also participated in a Scavenger Hunt which is free for registered guests. Yet, very surprised to score a bowl of Cheerios on sale for 99 cents at The Shop. Bathroom is spacious. Double sinks with lights around the mirrors. Curiosity peaked my interest. Is there a bidet? None. Where's the microwave? Not here. Awww! Shux! Let me know if a room on the property offers it. There's a lot more amenities, products, services provided by the resort. Must see and experience. I'm grateful that parking is spacious. Would love to return at my leisure.

Wait a minute..... since when did Turtle Bay become The Ritz Carlton?! If I am not mistaken it happened sometime this year per talking with one of the staff at the pool. This is even better, staying at a Ritz property, a bonus during my recent weekend staycation. This is when I found out I made Titanium status, can you tell that I LOVE staycations, either here or on the other islands. While doing a last minute search, I got a great rate. Happy dance... woohoo! I have not been or stayed at Turtle Bay before Ritz, I cannot compare what the difference would be but let's start with checking in at the front desk, wow! it was a busy weekend, the line was long but good thing the staff worked quick and there were 3 front desk staff. Merlina ( Spelling ?) was awesome & friendly, she checked us, we got our bracelet keys, parking pass, resort info. & even welcome leis, yes even though we are Kama'aina. It showed up nice in our tons of photos we took in the room & lanai, hehe. Thank you for the ocean view and Wow! We got high floors (5th), being a first timer & newbie I was amazed by the view even walking to our room from the elevator, the property is stunning & omg breathtaking ocean views for sure! We got the pool side view along with ocean. I was attached to the view on our balcony and didn't want to leave. I could sit out there forever, we did finally leave the room for exploring the trails and then pool, jacuzzi after. I had the most pool & jacuzzi time here. This property offers a range of amenities and activities including, multiple dining options, Nalu Spa, fitness center, Pickle ball, tennis courts, biking, hiking trails, bike tours, and golf course. We didn't dine on property but picked up food instead, If you didn't make a stop for food, drinks, or need last minute goods, check out the Holoholo market. Our room was nice and it looks & feel like Ritz Standard, the only complaint that I have in room #506 is one of the Queen beds near the lanai, wooden part is sticking out, we kicked in to this a few times. ( see photos) We had the bestest, amazing, magical stays, wish we could stay longer than a day, but it was sad to leave, we said our goodbyes to our room! Hope to be back again, maybe for future special occasion. #GratefulThankfulBlessed, always.

We stayed overnight at Turtle Bay to celebrate my husband's birthday. He's been wanting to check this place out for a long time, and I'm so glad we finally did! The resort is so exclusive, and it feels like a true escape that lets you connect with nature. We had a great time hiking the short trails in the area, spotting sea turtles, petting the horses, and watching the big waves and beautiful sunset. We were able to check in early at 11:30 am and we were greeted with leis at the reception. Mahalo nui to Melina at the front desk, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable! She welcomed us with such kindness and aloha from the moment we arrived. We were also lucky enough to get an upgrade to an ocean-view room with a bigger lanai, plus we were gifted with a complimentary bottle of champagne to enjoy. The lobby has a great ambiance. There were still some renovations in progress since some parts of the hotel are a bit dated. However, I noticed the hotel was well-maintained and clean, especially the elevators, and all the staff we encountered were so nice, helpful and friendly. Aside from being close to nature, the friendly staff and great amenities and activities at the resort, another great part of this hotel is its location because it is just a couple of minutes away from the Sugarmill plantation, where you'll find delicious food trucks serving Hawaiian ono grindz. We really enjoyed our brief stay and we'll definitely be back! Highly recommend Turtle Bay for anyone looking to relax, connect with nature, and be treated like a valued guest.

Thank you everyone for making our dreams come true! I chose Turtle Bay to be the place where I proposed to my girlfriend, now fiancé. EVERYONE was extremely welcoming and made us feel at home. Kawena was my primary contact for the big day and she was very responsive and did her very best to make sure our day was perfection. Mefi filled in here and there, and was fantastic. Seya had a great positive attitude to get the moment started as she picked us up with the shuttle cart. It started to pour rain, but she reminded us that it was actually a blessing, liquid sunshine, and after the quick downpour the sky opened up and never rained again! Josh and Robert executed our photos and videos to perfection for our engagement. They were extremely creative with getting the right angles for capturing our special moment. All in all a phenomenal time here that will be with us forever. Thank you so much everyone!

Beautiful as it can get , this place is amazing. Many restaurants to choose from . Sunset is amazing view. Price is the highest on the island but this is what you get when you stay at the best .

Tanner gave us a warm greeting and even congratulated us on our wedding anniversary! When we got to our room, the manager, Alfonso, delivered a beautiful charcuterie board to our room with a warm welcome and well wishes for our wedding anniversary. "D" took great care of us at the beach, giving us towels and seating area with an umbrella. He made us feel so welcome. Finally, Cherae was the one who helped us confirm our reservation. Her aloha spirit, along with her peers, supersedes our expectations - and we're humble, simple people. Everyone here is so friendly. They set the Ritz-Carlton Turtle Bay Kahuku's standards higher than most hotel properties. Love the room and views!

Didn't stay here but spent some time walking around the lobby and out at their bar by the water. The hotel is situated on a peninsula with predominately ocean views. The decor emphasizes a high end natural setting with neutral tones and spaces that seamlessly transition out into its environment. Obviously, there are beaches steps from the hotel. Hung out at their outdoor bar, Sunset at Turtle Bay, and ordered an appetizer with a few cocktails & beers. The vibe was relaxing and the food/drinks were great. Would highly consider staying at this hotel the next time we travel to Hawaii.

Ask the Community - The Ritz Carlton

Would this resort be considered on the more quiet side? After staying right in Waikiki, all the honking from trucks/cars and the screaming from drunk people made me not want to stay there again. Looking for a quieter home base?

Absolutely! We also spent a few days in Waikiki and loved the luxurious peaceful ambiance at the Turtle Bay Resort.

Is it get sunny enough? It's my first time in Hawaii and I really want to enjoy a sunny beach day with hubby 🫶 thanks

Certainly depends on the weather, but the day we were there there was a short spirt of rain within and overall gorgeous sunny day.

Do they have day pass for pool?

No. But it's a public beach.

How would you recommend getting to and from HNL to the resort?

    Car

Can you purchase a day-pass to utilize the pool?

I don't believe so. The beach to the east of the resort is available for free... way better I think. Pool is small and slides are tiny. No big deal.

I purchased tickets for the upcoming Easter brunch would me and my family be able to use the pool or is that not included?

    Not included

    Do they offer free parking?

Self parking is $15 daily, valet is $20. A reserved spot comes with the Ocean Villas.

    Is this hotel all inclusive?

No, this hotel is not all inclusive. Towels, beach chairs, and fitness classes are all charged extra.

Do they serve food / drinks at the beach, or do you need to bring your own?

They do not. You need to bring your own. I always purchse drinks at the pool bar then bring them to the beach.

    Is there bbq grills?

No unless you are staying in the Condominium section of the property. They are at the pool.

Is there still a Sunday Luau on property?

I was there on a Sunday in November. They had a performance but I wouldn't consider it an luau. Just a few guys from Samoa performing and dancing with fire on stage.

Does every room have a bathtub?

No, it depends on which room you choose. Most of the rooms in the hotel are showers but if you choose one of their rooms closer to the beach, those have bathtubs. Best to check with Concierge Service for more details

Where are you allowed to smoke?

Smoking is only allowed in designated areas outside of the resort. They will charge you a few hundred dollars as a housekeeping fee if there is any evidence if smoking either in the room or on the lanai.

Can you smoke on the vista level balcony?

Smoking is only allowed in designated areas outside of the resort. They will charge you a few hundred dollars as a housekeeping fee if there is any evidence of smoking either in the room or on the lanai on any floor.

Different restaurants in turtle Bay resort?

I believe there are 3 around the resort, the buffet is great for breakfast, there is a spot at the golf course also.

I wrote in the time that I wanted to start which was 1230 pm. I show up at 1230 exactly and go to check in at the outpost Hut. The 2 guys inside the Hut tell me they didn't see my reservation and they rented out all their balls to a group that just came in..... So...we had to WAIT until the group was finished to get the balls to play.... On top of that, I paid $10 per person to play, and the guy in the hut tells me there's only 6 or 7 holes available since they use the course to pop fireworks off of. New years was about a week ago!! You're telling me, you're too lazy to put back the holes for a whole week?! Cmon man..... Then, I ask for a cart to put all our stuff in and he tells me that they don't rent out carts but that I could get one at the golf hut. So my mom walks all the way over to the golf hut for them to tell her that they don't rent out golf carts for soccer golf......?! So then after all of this, the guy in the outpost hut tells me he will refund me the balls we rented as a way to make up the unfinished course and the time we had to wait for the balls to come back. That was nice of them.....except for the fact that he didn't do it!!! He was straight up lying. Bc i kept checking my account and I didn't see no refund pending from them.... So I waited 2-3 days then I finally call them back checking up on the refund. Explain the whole thing and I'm pretty sure the guy who answered the phone was the same guy who told me he would refund it to me the day of my reservation! So he puts me on hold and tells me that a manager has to be the one to refund me. So why did that guy in the outpost hut tell me he was refunding me if he really wasn't?!?! To top it all off, the course looks like crap. And they don't even have a score card to give you. Good thing I took a picture of their somewhat course layout so I knew where the heck I was going. The course is literally just grass that is so overgrown and bumpy that you cannot even call it foot golf. Save yourself time and don't go here.

There's really no hotels on the north shore of Oahu, which is nice because it preserves the…read morenatural-ness of the place (unlike Waikiki), but it's also difficult to find a place to stay. But... problem solved! The Estates at Turtle Bay is a series of condos on the northern tip of the island (on Kuilima Dr.), next to the Kuilima Golf Course. Each unit is owned individually, but managed by a company located at 56-565 Kamehameha Highway in Kahuku --- just five minutes down the road. All communications go through this office. Through the Estates at Turtle Bay website http://turtlebay-rentals.com/ you are able to view each individual unit, see how they are priced, and take your pick on the unit depending on the availability for the dates you picked. Because the price is determined by each individual owner of the condo, potentially you could see two condos of equal quality but stay at one for much cheaper than the other. Sometimes the "cleaning fee" set by the owner could also make what would've been a good deal a not so good one. So be careful about the extra fees before you book it. For example, our unit was priced at $95 a night, and we stayed for two nights = $190. But after the cleaning fee of $115!!! and taxes, the total was $327.73 for two nights. However, I love the idea that you can choose which unit you get to stay in. Every unit is decorated differently depending on the owner's taste, but they do provide a sufficient number of pictures on the website so you can see what the condition of the condo is. The one we picked turned out to be much better than expected! The place was newly renovated with a marble-counter kitchen, which was fully stocked with everything you need to cook for yourself (not a whole lot of restaurants around on the north shore other than the shrimp trucks). You also get to pick which room and which bed you get to sleep on (or rotate every night if you want) since you have the whole unit to yourself! If you arrive during office hours, you have to go pick up the key at the office down the street. If you arrive after office hours, they'll drop off the key at the entrance of the estates. There's a guard there working and you just tell him which unit you're staying in and he hands you the reservation materials. However, when we arrived, there was nobody there and he didn't come back to his post until 20 minutes later. This was the only part that was sucky, but otherwise our experience here was really awesome! Also, if you're traveling through Hawaii for two weeks like us, you'll be thankful for the washer and dryer in these condos! (Our condo was 060 West in case you want to book the same one).

We are staying at Condo #093 East. I don't know if the condos on the West side are better, but my husband stayed on that side before, which is why we stayed here as we needed temporary lodging for the next 21 days. This review is being written at the beginning of the 21 days. We arrived this past Sunday night tired after a hellish flight and rental car experience of nearly 20 hours. We arrive to walk into the condo and immediately I crinkled my nose. Yes, I admit it, I can pick up scents like a blood hound, BUT I KNOW when I don't like the smell of something. And this was the same. But again, we were locked in, we had gotten a key out of the box ourselves and there was no front desk to complain to. Had this been a hotel, I would have been all over this problem. So we walk in, bring in our one too many bags of luggage and try to get settled. Only we're too tired and just decide we'd rather just sleep. At first glance the bed looked ok. But as I got nearer and actually into the bed, I realized there was a rank odor. The best way to describe it? A mixture of human urine and wet dirty rag smell. We're both tired, but no way in hell I'm sleeping in that. I insist we change the sheets. So my cranky husband helps me change the sheets out. But the comforter, UGH that is just wreaking too. So off comes the comforter.... and the pillows... and damn.... nothing smells clean or fresh. SO, out comes our temporary pillows and blankets from home. Even though all that travel it smells 100 times better. ((ARGHHHH!!!! - and at the time of this writing, next door there is the incessant repeating high pitched grinding sound of a saw going off. ALL day this saw has been going off... and its after 4pm now. How long do you think he's going to keep this noise up? I have to work inside the condo all dang day... this is just so much fun! )))) Anyway, I digress - got distracted by the saw noise. So on Monday, we're tired and hot and sneezing. Why are we sneezing you ask? Well... looks like we were blowing dust at ourselves because we were using a portable fan the night before and didn't realize what it looked like....-massive dust covered nastiness. Not only did they not clean the fan, the ceiling fan, and who knows what else... the air conditioner just doesn't seem to work. This review could go on and so instead - lets just recap in a nutshell the pros and cons of this place. Cons - Dirty, unkempt and needs remodeling, DESPERATELY Had a dead roach waiting for us - because again, they don't know how to clean Smelly sheets, comforter, pillows, throw pillows. Nasty dirty grout and floors Disgusting showers Construction going on right next to me Soap suds left on counter, not rinsed Dirty fans Nastiest carpet in the bedroom. I refuse to go barefoot. Loud ass fans, ceiling fan, and subpar lighting - if the lights work at all. We're paying almost $200 a night here - so not worth the $200 a night. For 21 nights we are paying over $4,000! Pros- Free parking Clean refrigerator I've been cleaning since i got here, and they want to charge me $115 departure cleaning fee. Honestly they should be PAYING ME for the cleaning I've done so far. DISGUSTING!!!! I'd give this place a negative rating if I could. Waiting to hear from Office Manager. So stay tuned.

Want to stay on the North Shore but don't want to spend an arm and a leg at Turtle Bay Resort!?…read moreThis place is a great alternative right outside Turtle Bay's property! Each condo has different amenities and it's a bit difficult to choose one but my parents chose a fully stoked condo that had EVERYTHING you need! 2 air conditioners (one in the living room, one in the master bedroom), a GIANT sofa that literally fit 6 adults comfortably, a King sized bed in the master bedroom, a Queen size bed as well as a pull out couch in the second bedroom, a fully stoked bathroom complete with shampoo bottles, hairspray bottles, a blow dryer, even a curling iron(!), a dishwasher, tons of dishes, tons of extra blankets, pillows, and bath towels, even beach towels and beach bags! It was such a cute beach condo. Whoever owns this place seriously thought of EVERYTHING one would need to have a completely relaxing, worry-free stay! We got 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath condo with the view of pool. There were 4 of staying there and there was more than enough room for everyone. At the particular condo we were at, I loved how secure everything was. Everything was keyless! There was a key fob to get onto the property and we were able to create our own unique passcode to get in the house. There was a welcome letter explaining everything we needed to know about the condo and they even provided a binder with what to do in the area! They even provided a GIANT book of 5 minute bed time stories! How cute! There was also free wi-fi and they even attached a Maikai Card for discounts at Foodland! (For those from out of town, of course!) My dad had requested we have 3 stalls because my family all came in separate cars due to needing to transport lots of stuff for the wedding and Jean, the manager was very accommodating. We were allowed 3 parking passes and took 2 guest stalls as well as the assigned stall to our condo. Sorry for all those condos around us for taking up so many stalls! There is a walkway to Turtle Bay and the beach and it was a quick 5 minute walk away from our condo. We were able to explore the resort without paying any resort fees or high room rates. Hehe. Back on the property, the pool area was super cute with grills and a covered area to sit. We took FULL advantage of the pool and grilling area. In fact, our first night, we took over the whoooole area! We had a BBQ with 30+ people and it was a blast!! The pool does close at 9pm so we needed to be out by then but that was no problem because we started BBQ-ing early. Overall, I would definitely stay here again if I needed to stay on the North Shore! Just need to really do your research on picking a good one.. I'm not sure how my mom booked this place but it was definitely on the nicer, more modernized condos. My family was staying here for a wedding, therefore extended family rented out the 2 condos next door to the one I was staying at and theirs was nice but didn't have as much included (i.e. 2 air conditioners, a fully stoked bathroom, beach towels with beach bags, etc). Looking at other reviews, it's hit or miss at this place so ask a lot of questions and look at the pictures and read the description on the condos before committing!

The one I stayed in had able sleeping areas, plenty of kitchen appliances and comfortable furniture. The condos are within a gated community and have 24 hour security. I did not speak with the reservation staff but from what I gathered they were very accommodating and helpful. The only complaint from most in our group was the difficulty at times getting through the community gates. C & C reality only allowed us ONE gate key card per condo. In one unit we had 3 cars and had to share the key card. We had to do a lot of walking to give someone the key card who is at the gate waiting to come in. A gate access key punch code would be much easier. (ONE STAR WAS TAKEN AWAY DUE TO THIS ISSUE)

We recently stayed in #160 West - Upon arrival at our condo, the bathrooms had not been cleaned…read more(urine pooled up on the side of the toilet), there was a used dental pick on the floor in the bedroom, a pile of red (jelly?) on the carpet in the downstairs bedroom, the pillowcase still had smeared makeup on it & stunk like body odor, and all of the counters seemed like they hadn't been wiped down at all. Also, the sliding door in the lanai was completely off track & we were constantly having to fix it. We paid a $250 cleaning fee, but it didn't seem like the unit had even been cleaned prior to our arrival & we had to clean up the prior guests' mess. They wouldn't refund any portion of this $250 charge because I hadn't complained earlier. They stated that "because the first mention of this was after your check out date, there will be no refund". Additionally, my credit card was charged an additional $1,350 that I didn't owe - we found out later that they had charged my credit card as payment for someone that was staying in the condo next door. (we got it refunded about 2 weeks later). I hate to complain, but all of these problems just kept piling up...

It's a holiday weekend and they demanded a response the same day. We replied the following morning but were told they already cancelled our reservation. Wouldn't we just book again at their new price that's $1,500 more? Talking to them to try and resolve, it was clear they just wanted more money. There was no urgent issue, they never called, they just decided they could get more money than our reservation. So be warned if you reserve with them... they may leave you hanging. EDIT: The owner left a response citing verification processes. We completed everything asked for on booking and NEVER received any communications on August 28 or 29. I have the message receipts and can gladly share. Our only message was Aug. 30 and we responded within a day, despite the holiday weekend! The property was still available. They just wanted to jack the price over $1k.

The staff could not have been kinder or more accommodating. They immediately set us up with everything we needed for a relaxing day by the water and even offered us a discount, which was such a thoughtful touch. They delivered everything right to our resort and later came back to pick it all up, making the experience effortless from beginning to end. The owner was especially wonderful--warm, genuine, and full of great recommendations for local spots to eat and explore. It was such a beautiful reminder of the true aloha spirit we love so much. As someone who grew up on the island of Guam--another beautiful but farther-to-reach Pacific gem--returning to Hawaii always fills my spirit with that same island way of life: generous, easygoing, deeply rooted in community and kindness. I'm so grateful for places and people like this who make you feel right at home, wherever you are in the world.
