I had a wisdom tooth extracted. They were able to see me in 2 days and the office staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I was concerned with having to make multiple trips down the hill from Tehachapi but they were able to do the consult and the removal on the same day. Worst experience I have ever had and will never recommend them for any kind of dental procedure...had a consultation on June 12th...waited for pre authorization, nothing, called numerous times, always left messages no return call.....finally July 29th I finally spoke to someone and she said they had not received anything from Delta...I said I would call and sure enough delta had approved the procedure the end of June, so they made appointment at 12:50, on August 3rd,,,I received a call that morning informing me that their 10:00 and 11:00 canceled and would I be interesting in taking one or the other...I took the 11:00, put in a room at 12:10..then the dentist who I believe just graduated from dental school, came in we talked about my issue...bad infection on the previous root canal..he told me that the procedure may not work but they would know in 6 months...my other option would be to pull the tooth...I said let's pull it...his response was "it's not that easy, we have to try and correct the infection first and give it a chance to work......not being a dentist, I wasn't happy about it but I guess all we can do is try..well it didn't work, and he had the nerve to lie about it when he sent a report to my dentist...the report stated that I knew it wasn't going to work, but wanted it anyway to save my tooth...lies, lies, what person in their right mind would have such an evasive procedure knowing it wasn't going to work......what he didn't know was that I had already been in touch with my dentist and explained that I may need a new bridge because the procedure may not work...then to add fuel to the fire, I went in with an estimate, after both Delta insurances paid, of ZERO out of pocket expense....left the treatment room, went to the front desk and now I owe $400.00....I laughed, showed them my paperwork, and walked out..THEN, they were supposed to call in pain meds that same day(Tuesday) Thursday I called and asked what happened, they said we called it in, WRONG PHARMACY,....plus I explained that I was getting and infection so they just added an antibiotic,, ,,,think twice people before having work done....( on a positive note office staff was pretty friendly,! I was referred to this office from my primary because they were able to get me in quicker than another office. I needed a root canal as soon as possible. My initial exam was scheduled for 11 AM, I didn't get in until about 12 PM, just to be looked at for maybe a minute then I could schedule my actual root canal. The day of my root canal, my appointment is at 1 PM, I get in around 1:13. The dental hygienist who led me to the back (do not remember their name but they had 3 stars in place of their eyebrows) was incredibly kind and friendly. They told me what was going to happen and when. In the procedure, they made sure to pay attention to if I was in pain and generally if it was all going well. The Endodontist who was doing my procedure (also don't recall his name) didn't really speak to me. I asked before the procedure about how long it would be, and was given an estimate of about 30-60 minutes. I was there for 2 hours without any knowledge as to why it was taking so long. Mid-way through the procedure, the dental hygienist had to go on lunch so another took their place. This hygienist seemed in a bad mood from the start. Throughout the rest of the procedure, they were distracted, not paying attention, and seemed to not even be assisting the endodontist that well. A hook on the side that the hygienist was sitting on was falling out of my mouth, and I had to point it out. They didn't even fix it, the Endodontist did. At one point, he seemed to be fed up enough that he started to get the instruments and attachments he needed himself. The other hygienists and/or assistants seemed just as annoyed to help me. The chair for the procedure was incredibly uncomfortable, making the back of my head throb about an hour in. Even 20 minutes after I had gotten up, my head still hurt. Beyond all of that, the people at the front desk were kind and helpful both times I came in. The one hygienist with my star eyebrows took care of me incredibly well. If I were to need an Endodontists for another procedure, I would not go here. read more

I don't know if it was the assistant that blew my call out of proportion but all I remember saying was "I would like to be seen because it has been over a week and my gums are still sore, especially when I brush my teeth" when I called for an appointment. I choose to wear a mask but was ostracized by the people in the waiting room for wearing a mask. I felt the doctor talked to me like I was dumb & he was doing me a favor. My daughter had an abscess tooth and her primary doctor could not get it pulled until 2 weeks later, after calling 12 different dental office in Kern County, Kern Dental got her in that day with an emergency referral from our insurance and was able to pull the tooth that day. My daughter was in extreme pain to the point she had been vomiting for the last 24 hours. The staff and surgeon were great with her and our primary recommended that she have a bone graph and implant put in costing me over 5K, he said none of that was necessary considering her age and wisdom teeth already growing in. I've been to this practice on two separate occasions for root canals... Different teeth... two different practitioners First time was either in 2013 or 2014 and then had a root canal done recently. Both of the Endo's were absolutely fabulous. They were kind they made sure I was medicated sufficiently. The experience I had in 2013 was pretty rough because I was commuting from Southern California to Bakersfield when I didn't live here and found myself an extreme pain on the way home... The block had worn off, of course, and I really turned down pain medication because normally I can handle it, but this was really rough and they took care of it and I was able to get my prescription picked up when I got home. they did such a nice job in terms of work and all-around care for the front office and the folks in the back that I returned for this procedure that I had today. Different doctor, younger guy real knowledgeable really great at explaining things staff in the back part of the office. Also, fabulous it's never changed. It's always been top-notch... The problem rest with the front office people and I'm sure it doesn't happen all the time... But I'm in a different place in my life and my needs are different... I'm in my 70s. I've had multiple medical issues in the last 18 months I live on my own. I have no children who live close by so I have to take care of all of my own problems and needs on my own... I always explain this upfront and it's not for a sympathy deal. Rather it's for the purpose of making sure that the care gets consolidated as much as can be, and then whatever the aftercare happens to be get handled in one action. Sometimes there's miscommunication between the back office in the front office. Sometimes it's newer staff who doesn't know... But I can tell you that I get most of my care out of town because of gatekeepers in the front office who really don't have the experience when it comes to the care. They're not educated to know any better and the doctors rely on these mostly women to handle things well. Today was one of those experiences that didn't go well. When you're discharging a patient from any setting it shouldn't matter the age, but especially an older person who doesn't have the support system at home. You make sure they not only get their instructions. You make sure that whatever prescriptions have been discussed get managed all at one time and that didn't happen today... Most older people and they've had a major procedure. Just wanna go home and take rest. Maybe take a nap if they can before the pain sets in and they don't wanna be agitated and upset. When an older person gets upset, it's for a reason. This type of practice is not the sort of practice you go to on a very routine basis, you have your relationships with your main dentist your main doctor and you develop strong relationships for the most part or you hope to. When you're going into a surgeons office essentially you might only see them once in your Lifetime. So front office doesn't feel like they have to make the investment. It was a choppy experience. I had to go back to the office to insist on getting that medication ordered because the doctor said it needed to get done. It was back office staff or back technical staff who knew that. But it's also up to the front office staff to make sure those prescriptions get sent out. And they were aware and it didn't get handled at first. It took me going back to the office being unhappy to get that accomplished. I would still recommend this practice to anyone because they do a really spectacular surgical job for anybody... For an office could use a littlecompassion and maybe a little training and not just say that they're staying in their lane. I don't understand the influx of negative reviews about long wait times. I was seen within minutes of checking in for my both my wisdom teeth extraction consultation and the extraction itself. I was able to get an appointment right away for both visits. The procedure was a breeze, it's been 8 days and I've had no issues. I was very confident with Dr. Wood and all the staff involved with the procedure. As far as billing, that has been a streamlined process, however I did get a call from my dental insurance saying that even though the office was in network, Dr. Wood was not. So that did double the cost I was expecting. That isn't personally a huge deal for me, as I was initially expecting to pay a lot more up front. Insurances can be so complex so I don't like to place blame on staff for those situations, as codes & procedures can change during the actual surgery itself. Overall I am very pleased with my experience. If you're in need of your wisdom teeth removed, I would recommend Dr. Wood. read more

This place was a nightmare. They have the worst office staff I've ever experienced. They would say they will call back to schedule an extraction on tooth 13 but then wouldn't so we called back, eventually I paid out of pocket to extract it elsewhere. We went there for all 4 wisdom teeth cause I wasn't aware it's the same place as I'd only known by phone. We got there for a huge surgery all 4 wisdom and deep sedation and they are too cheap to run the ac so it's hot and humid in here cause no airflow. They charged us for tooth 13 and a bone graft for it because their office staff we spike to 3 weeks ago to inform we had it removed left no record of it. So we got charged 600 extra dollars on a tooth that DIED waiting for their office to call us and was already gone. So had to get a refund and I am sitting in the waiting room worried how an office so negligent will handle this surgery. It's the most stressful, unprofessional and scary place I've ever had to deal with for dental. As I'm waiting I keep seeing people go to counter and various clerical and money errors. Errors with scheduling and referrals etc. I'm livid. It's one thing to have such negligent staff for the past 8 months not just today... but they were told 3 weeks ago 2x that the tooth was removed because it had been dead from waiting. I was referred by my Denist to him for root canal. to start off let's say they have NO compassion, ZERO. They obviously have to num the area they are working on,but the needle used was super painful I had tears running down my face after he was done he said ok I''ll be back in few he nor his assistant offered me a tissue for my tears. Then after procedure, he said see you in week, I walked out of there got in my car and looked in mirror I had blood all over my teeth,lips. This place is ridiculous!!! I was referred here by my son's dentist to have a consultation about his wisdom teeth. They called me the day before to confirm the appointment & to ask me that the dentist wanted to know if I could come earlier. My appointment was moved from 2pm to 1pm. I pulled my son at 12:15pm from school to ensure we would make it on time. I checked in 2 mins before 1pm. At 1:40pm I asked the lady at the front counter (thin built, long hair, with glasses) if it would be much longer, since my appointment had been changed from 1 to 2 and it was almost 2, and if it was much longer I would need to leave, to what she responded "that's fine", in a very annoyed, kind of way like she was doing me a favor. Never apologize for making me wait so long. Absolutely unacceptable!!! Especially when you do everything possible as a patient to make it on time with two babies a are extremely inconsiderate to the patients. I finally got called in to the back at 1:58pm. The lady that took us back was extremely polite and courteous. She took my son's x-rays and walked us to the room. After a few minutes she informed that the dentist was very behind and she could pretty much do the consultation unless I wanted to wait for the dentist. This place is a scam. My husband came here after being referred by our dental insurance. We were given the estimate and paid the co-pay right before his surgery. A month later the insurance decided to cover more of the expenses, so we were to be reimbursed the difference. This office refused to do so, and told the insurance company we owed them money. They would not say what we owed them for, but followed up with several bills with different amounts and no explanation as to what the charges were for. The bill was literally blank where it should state what the charges were, but there was a random amount at the bottom and each bill said it was "past due". My insurance contacted them multiple times and assured us we owed nothing, but this place continues to harass us with fake bills. The amount they ask for changes each time, but the insurance keeps telling me they have contacted them and not to pay them anything.
