They have worked on a big tree in our front yard two different times now and have done a great job. Not one of the hack jobs offered by our local gardeners. And they are not significantly more expensive than the guys who don't know what they're doing. We were very happy with them and they were very responsive to our requests and cleaned up and left a minimal footprint while they were here. We'll be using them again! PS: The guy who left the bad review here wasn't -- as far as the post indicates -- even a customer of Kerry's. I can tell you that we live next to Notre Dame High School and they managed to not impede traffic at all. So, if the incident happened as he says, it was a lesson learned. Price can competitive and the job was done as expected, however: 1- I have nothing against lunch breaks, but when the crew decided to take theirs laying down and having an hour long picnic in my neighbour's lawn, without their knowledge or consent, well it is not very nice, and definitely not very professional. 2- Word of advice, make sure you ask if they take credit cards. After receiving the invoice I was told they didn't, then the owner said they would. Today I received a call telling me they were finally able to take credit cards, so I returned the call and the same nice lady that left the message immediately said they don't take credit cards....but she took mine anyway. Perhaps they are in the process of implementing it? I don't know, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt in the rating and hopefully a big step in the right direction. read more

We have used Kerry's a number of times and are always happy, very happy with the result. First of all, they know what they do. This company knows how to trim a tree professionally. It always looks absolutely fantastic. Secondly, you don't have to worry about your plants and other vegetation. They cover plants and make sure that nothing is damaged. Perfect. Our yard is not your usual yard. We don't have grass but many plants currently in bloom. We were a bit concerned about potential damage, especially those delicate ones, but nothing, absolutely nothing was damaged. I highly recommend Kerry's. Excellent tree service! I have been through several and these guys do a very good job. They're not inexpensive, but I've tried others and then paid in ways I didn't expect: badly pruned trees, damage, etc. Mike is very thorough and unlike other companies, not just tree services, but other kinds of businesses where you give instructions and get a quote from one guy and then never see him again, Mike not only gives you the quote, but he shows up with the crew and makes sure everything is done the way you had discussed with him. I will state, right from the beginning, that the service the workers gave when removing our trees was very good. The communication from the office was not up to the same level. While they did confirm our appointment for service, there was NEVER any mention of payment and HOW we could pay. I will say that I pay for almost nothing with cash or check (who pays with checks anymore anyway) and use credit cards for almost everything. I come to find out that I am unable to pay with my card and need to use cash or check. I find this, in a day and age where everything is automated, quite unfortunate and unappealing. Had I known prior, I would most definitely have used another of the companies I got estimates from. Again, this is not about servicing the trees. This is about an antiquated way of being able to pay. read more

I have used there services 3-4 times over the past few years. They removed a very large tree that was only a foot away from the garage. It was amazing how they could do that without causing and damage to the building they are true masters of their craft. Although I hate the way any tree looks when it's first trimmed I have to admit that afterwards it grew back looking much better than before. Kerry's confirmed my guess that my front yard tree was dead dead dead. They recommended a different kind of tree to replace it with (Crape Myrtle) that would do very well here in Simi Valley. Actually, they are all over the place in town, and they ARE beautiful!! So I researched which variety I wanted (and the LA Times had an article about them, too!)-it was a "Pecos"-multi-trunk. They removed the old tree with no problem-took about half an hour. Well, Kerry's cared enough for their customer and told me that the nursery didn't have good enough specimens at that time, and could I wait a few more days? I've used kerry's tree service twice. Last june they came by and trimmed my gigantic walnut tree and removed 9 stumps along my fence line. They came back yesterday to trim down some trees on the other fence line. They showed up each time at 7am with a huge crew and multiple trucks. Both visits were very professional. They were considerate of my property and of my neighbors during the process and during cleaning up. They finished quicker than I would of expected and have made my backyard great again! Excellent from the start. I chose Kerry's Tree Service based on the reviews here, visiting their website and talking to Mike and Susan on the phone. Mike came by and examined my trees with a recommendation for service. One dead Luquidamber tree and a Yucca tree that had probably not been trimmed in twenty years. I spoke with Susan about logistics, my neighbor has a toddler who sleeps until 7:30am and naps around 3pm. Susan politely took these concerns into consideration when scheduling the service. Tony and his crew showed up promptly at 7:30am and we walked through the work that would be done. Mike came to the worksite some time later to follow up and see that I was completely satisfied with the work going on. The crew were very polite and hustled to get wrapped up by 11:30am. They even pulled my pool cover off, cleaned the leaves off and rolled it up for me while one of the guys grabbed the pool net and fished all the leaves out of the pool. Nice touch I am very happy with the work they did for me, their great customer service and I also learned a few details about the other trees in my backyard. These guys are artists. Thanks to Mike and his great crew, our front and back yards finally look like the way I'd envisioned when we made our landscaping plan. Over the decades we've lived in our home, we've had experiences with at least a half dozen tree trimming companies - some better than others. However these guys are in a whole different league. I was less than satisfied with our last tree trimming. Our trees are very important to us and we work with a great arborist on a regular basis and asked him if he could recommend a tree service. Without hesitation he told us that we should call Kerry's, he said that he's referred people to them for years with complete confidence. I'm so very glad that I took his suggestion and called Kerry's for an estimate. Mike came out and gave us a very detailed estimate. We were immediately impressed with Mike's knowledge of trees(we didn't know he was an arborist) and his thoroughness. He looked at every tree and pointed out things we hadn't noticed. Kerry's found it appropriate to block the street by my daughter's school during drop off time at 7:40AM. I found the drivers and asked if they could move for 20 minutes (cars were stacked 11 deep and not moving) since they hadn't started working yet. The foreman rudely said no and told me to move on. He did not charge me and just asked that we use his service for any trimming or removal of trees in the future (another Arborist wanted $175 to visit my property). Martin W. I was recently faced with the problem of replacing my Jacaranda tree, along with three others smaller trees. The extensive root system from my 22-year-old Jacaranda dramatically uplifted my driveway and walkway. Approximately 20 years ago I had the Jacaranda transported and replanted from its original West Los Angeles home from friends that did not want the tree. Since that time it has flourished, maybe a bit too much. Because it was necessary to extensively cut the roots of the Jacaranda, I needed professional guidance to determine if the Jacaranda could sustain the extensive root modifications required after replacing the driveway and walkway. I connected with Corey, the certified arborist with Kerry's Tree Service, after searching the website of the International Society of Arboriculture. After discussing the situation with Corey, we developed a plan that would best ensure the Jacaranda's survival and flourishment. During the construction phase of the driveway, Corey met with the contractor, and advised him how best to cut the roots and install the recommended root barrier. After the new driveway was completed Corey and his crew then trimmed and re-strapped the Jacaranda and removed three other trees. The job was completed efficiently, timely and carefully. My property was left even cleaner than when they arrived. The work crew was very respectful and considerate. My emails and phone calls with Corey were facilitated very professionally by Susan in the main office. Based on my experience with Kerry's Tree Service I feel comfortable rating them a "10."
