I want to love this place, but the portions have always been quite small especially for the price point. There is a nice seating area in the back, that is usually empty. The staff are very helpful, and the food does taste good. If you are craving Turkish food, I would certainly recommend this place, as there are not many other options, just be prepared to not quite get your bang for your buck (at least for the entrees). I have to admit I have not had the sandwiches, which could be substantial, but just be aware that your entrees may not suffice. read more

Consistently delicious! The lamb Adana and gyro are very flavorful. The mixed grill gives you a wonderful variety of flavors. The guys there are friendly and the place recently underwent a renovation and it looks really nice- so much better than before. I would give this place zero stars if I could. Absolutely waste of money, I literally threw out over 80 percent of my food because it was garbage. This place is a shame to have a gyro in the city. The chicken was flavorless, tasteless and not that warm. I do not know how fresh it was but there seemed like the whole meat was there so I thought it would have been good. No one in the place and the pita is some regular packaged type bread no fresh at all. For 11 dollars I would not recommend this place to anyone. Haven't explored the menu much, but I really like what I've tried so far. The lamb gyro "meat dish" (lamb over tasty rice) and the lamb gyro sandwich (same ingredients, stuffed in a pita) are both great. Owners are nice dudes. I noted to one that the large "meat dish" was 50% more expensive than the small even though it was not even close to 50% bigger. He politely disagreed and gave me some free baklava. One downside: wait time. I think they do a lot of takeout business because I've been in there when it was empty and waited for 10-12 minutes as they prepared other meals. NBD, but just something to keep in mind if you're planning on picking up a quick meal on your way to the G train. read more

this used to be our fave place for delivery. We ordered in average twice a week---sadly, the last 4 times we have ordered it has been AWFUL. It took over an hour this time and the food was inedible. Their babaganoush was something otherworldly but lately has been bland and flavorless. The pita accompanying it was stale and hard. the salad was soggy and included bruised tomatoes. last time we ordered the meat was cold and chewy and again flavorless....we continued ordering after the first few times hoping (praying) it was a fluke but it was not. And the final insult was that all of the sudden they would not bring the order upstairs and then argued with me when I advised that they usually do. Hmm I was hoping for a lot better. I'm honestly confused by this place. I ordered a falafel sandwich and lamb gyro. The falafel doesn't come with hummus which is pretty basic so I added it and now I see why it doesn't come with it, because it tastes like paste. Seriously, I don't know what their "hummus" is but I wouldn't recommend it. So the wrap was super mushy with very small falafel. I just threw hot sauce over it and ate it anyway possibly at 2am after drinking I wouldn't have minded it so much. The gyro I couldn't even eat it was so dry and just not appetizing plus they only give you a tiny plastic container of white sauce and hot sauce, not nearly enough to disguise the quality of the meat..Ok phew done! read more

i really like this place. i LOVE gyros, and i consider myself an expert. there's is really delicious and the portions are grand ... except their pita is a fail. the pita is not delicious. i was disappointed because the pita can make or break a gyro! they give you a RIDICULOUS amount of fries on the large fry, and everyone that works here is super nice and accommodating. i'll be back, and hopefully they'll have a different pita! can't wait to try other things on the menu, too, as they also looked delicious. if i ever moved back to greenpoint, i might be a regular here! read more

Horrible. Sorry to say. I ordered mixed grill combo. Firstly, the entire platter (worth $28) comes in ONE medium round container. Meat was so tough our mouth got tired of chewing. Chicken gyro was undercooked with fat hanging from pieces. Pita Bread as hard as a cracker. All this dry food with 2 tiny dips. We had a sit-down order of lamb gyro-platters, which by the way for only $12, was a feast in itself. Also got some of those lentil-made balls, i have no idea what it was called, but it was good. The rice pudding is AMAZING - the best I have ever had. It's creamy and custardy (I think it's made out of sweetened condensed milk or something - it's probably a zillion calories but WORTH IT!!) and has a delicious firmer top from being baked in the oven. I just ordered a falafel wrap from here and was so disappointed! On Seamless, it says the wrap comes with a bunch of stuff, but mine was missing the cabbage, spicy sauce and white sauce! I really want to like this place, but compared to its closest competitor, Oasis in Williamsburg, it just doesn't stack up. The food isn't as good, it's about twice as expensive, and it takes a lot longer to be served. If I'm starving and too exhausted to make an omelet or something, I occasionally pop in here because it's so close to my apartment (I live on a quiet side street off a glum stretch of Nassau Ave that's probably still four or five years away from being populated with the kinds of businesses you might be legitimately excited to have close to home). Just a few doors down from Kestane Kebab, the owner recently opened Cafe Pistachio, a prime example of the kind of instantly-doomed establishment that's easy to identify, and which as yet isn't represented on Yelp. Pistachio started off OK, offering some interesting sandwiches and other lunch fare, but the menu was soon inexplicably downgraded to "turkish panini with ground meat" and similarly unappealing choices. Oh well! These guys stay in business because of their visibility, but it doesn't change the fact that overall it's just not that great. read more

Food is well put together right seasoning light on salt so if you want more salt just add it. I order a large chicken platter, red lentil soup and falafels.
