Wow. Just had a terrible interaction with a worker (the owner?) at this place. We walked in the door at 2:15pm. We rang the bell at the counter, only to be met by a women saying, "uh, we're closed. How did you get in?" We pointed to the side door. Her response? "Well, I can escort you out". (Wow, rude). We then asked, "do you know of another coffee house open?" Her response, "I wouldn't know" (w/ a look and tone that MORE than implied "you can go now"). Then, as we're walking out, my brother comments to her, "I like the (vintage) stereo (in the side room) where an older couple was sitting. My brother asked if they were the owners. The woman curtly replied, "That's my Dad" (with a tone that MORE than implied "what's it to you?) and with a look at the door that was so cold and rude it's hard to relay on this post. The irony? The have a HUGE mural inside that says: SERVING EVERY SIP WITH A SMILE (or something to that affect). But, maybe that's only during hours of operation. Definitely NOT the customer service that would entice anyone to come back. So sad. read more

Let me begin by saying the customer service was great. The shop was clean with tons of space to hang out. It was the coffee that was disappointing. The housemade syrups are definitely a plus but the espresso didn't impress me. As a coffee lover, I guess I just expected to be wowed by the bean quality and taste (given they take the time to make their own flavors). I don't think I'll be back. read more

Today I went in to Kettle to get some of their toast. I was talking with the barista and I told her that I got a matcha right before elsewhere and it was so bad She was so kind and made me a matcha to try theirs! It made my day. I will give it two stars for the excellent service. I came in prior to yoga and needed something light to eat, s I decided on avocado toast. It's only 9:30 in the morning yet they are already out of avocado. The shock in my face was very clear as I said but we're in the avocado capital!! I mean I could go pick one off a tree and bring it back. LOL anyways, I decided on a basic egg on bagel. My friend got a latte. The egg and bagel came out and I only wanted to eat half due to going to yoga next so I gave the other half to my friend who took a bite and made a face. First off the egg looks like it is a microwaved pancake. It's super thick and square like a piece of tofu. It also tasted like tofu as there is absolutely no salt or pepper. There is nothing on the bagel but egg so it tastes like nothing on a sweet bagel. The melted wax cheese on top was nasty too. What was the worst is when we took a bite and the egg itself was still cold in the middle. So not only was it tasteless it was freezing and the bagel was burnt. I'm pretty shy about making a deal about bad food but I did not want any more then one bite. My friend was about to throw it in the trash and I said let me go ask the girl. So I took my bagel up to her and told her I cannot eat this. It's cold and nasty. I don't feel like I'm the first person to ever tell them that because without a beat she said no problem I'll give you your refund or something else which automatically went from a one-star experience to a two star. Thank you for being understanding! I asked my friend about the latte and she said it wasn't that great for the price. Will I ever come here again probably not. I thoroughly enjoy Kettle Such a perfect vibe. I am new-ish to Fallbrook, and have truly missed my short cruise to my fav coffee shop down by the beach. Finding a new spot here in Fallbrook was tough, but Kettle has definitely made the cut! Great bevs, I love their food options, epic pastries, music is always on point, aesthetically pleasing, and prime location. Sage really makes this place special. I have noticed a significant improvement since she became manager. Seeing her is an extra special treat on my early morning pop-ins before yoga. Sage is so friendly to her customers, she always seems to be so kind to her staff, and she's just an overall flipping VIBE!!!! I really hope Kettle recognizes her as an asset to the team. The atmosphere is nice, the staff is friendly but the prices are absurd. They charge you .50¢ to have an iced drink because of the size difference but don't offer a size smaller? It's 80°, I don't want a hot drink but on top of my already +$1 for my dairy intolerance I'm paying some more just for it to be cold. Robbery. I've been about 10 times. They need to hire more staff. The staff is very friendly but ridiculously slow. I ordered online and waited over 35 minutes to be asked again what I had ordered once I checked twice. The male barista seems to be off in space moving slow as hell. Don't go if you're in a rush. First of all, Kettle on Grand in Escondido is great. I have been going there for years. They own this joint too. When this place was still called "Hearth" I started going here knowing how great the other Kettle cafe is and it was exactly the same. Great breakfast sandwiches and nice people working there. I've gone about 6 times since it changed hands. I went there Sunday, ordered my usual breakfast sandwich and it was different. The egg was gross! Pre-cooked, reheated scrambled egg patty with terrible seasoning. My daughter and I both did not care for it. I asked the woman behind a counter about it and she lied to me telling me that they did not change the egg and that they have always served this sandwich this way. I told her that I have been eating at Kettle for years and this was not the same fried egg, is a flat scrambled egg patty and that wanted them to know that I did not like it. She called me a Liar and said that was the same egg that they have always used. This young woman was very rude and horrible. There are so many great cafes in the area with coffee and breakfast. I will NEVER go back to this one! My daughter went to the Kettle in Escondido the next day and the sandwich was the same as always with a fried egg. Go figure. Avoid Kettle in Fallbrook. What an amazing little gem! We needed a coffee break while on a trip away from home. This coffee house fit the bill perfectly. Nice strong coffee, mostly sweet fare for nibbles if needed, very relaxing music, chill setting. The way the place is designed is a very effective combination of private corners and open spaces. Terrible unfortunately. A long wait because the espresso machine was broken (the employee nice came over eventually and said the espresso machine was acting up). The latte itself was entirely milk, absolutely no coffee in it, it was terrible. I haven't been here since the change of new ownership. I will say I am very pleased with the renovations and the aesthetic. I love trying different coffee shops and this has to be a favorite of mine now. My experience was great, food does take awhile, but it's worth it. My food was delicious and everything was packaged nicely. I order a matcha and a latte, both were delicious. This is the perfect spot to study or have a coffee date. Service was not great, coffee was cold. Not like the original business that was there.

I went to grab coffee and a bite this morning and found that the coffee shop changed. I was hopeful that it was going to be a nice new experience, they gave the place a new look First thing I noticed was their lack of customer service skills. No manners. It almost seemed like we were inconveniencing them for being there. No smiles, nothing. Just a transaction. A customer before me ordered coffee and food to have there. They received their coffees and sat down, when their food was called out it was in a bag and the woman said "it was suppose to be for here" the employee did not say anything to the customer but shrugged and looked so irritated and took the food to the back to plate it. I was shocked that he had such poor manners. I really hope they take this feedback to heart and either train or hire employees that want to be there. The three employees all seemed like they did not want to be there. This could be a great spot for the community of Fallbrook if they just dial it in. Update: Their food was okay. The mocha was terrible. I tried two sips and couldn't finish it. Tastes like watered down cheap hot chocolate. Very disappointed. read more

I used to really like this place. The coffee was fine and it was usually pretty busy. While the ambiance is much nicer now with new ownership, the coffee is pretty bland and unpleasant. I wanted to like it and try a dirty chai, but it tasted like nothing. I tried the Vietnamese coffee as well and it was unlike any Vietnamese coffee I've had before. I loved this coffee shop when it was the Hearth. There was a cozy warmth that the name implied that I experienced when I went there - which I did often. All the comfy chairs and couches have been replaced with plastic and metal chairs. Last time I will be going here. It is WWAAYY over priced and the quality basically just isnt there. The change of ownership has definitely put this place down the tube like most typical fallbrook establishments which seem to come here to die along with some of its residents. No offense i appreciate the effort but when im pahing $30 dollars for a yogurt and a bagel and the bagel is not only cold but with some added poorly cooked bacon​ on it along with us-melted cheese idk you tell me. The coffee tasted like water with a hint of coffee another $5 a piece right there and I didnt even enjoy it. Im not one to complain but if you ask me, go to the coffee stand on mission near the old pizza hut or better yet, Starbucks, at least you get what you pay for there. Here you ask the staff a question about the coffee and they look at you like you just asked them the square root of something. Sorry not sorry.
