I think we found our new favorite place for seafood. My hubs got the Cioppino and some oysters and I got the fish and chips. The fish was fresh and flakey and the chips were hot and crispy. Paired with their in-house tartar sauce it was spectacular. I snuck a taste (ok more than a little taste) of their cocktail sauce and I'm pretty sure it's the best cocktail sauce I've had in a long time. My hubby absolutely LOVED the Cioppino. Amazing flavor and the temperature was perfect. The oysters were excellent! He only wishes they had oyster shooters! Hands down, delicious. We'll be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

Solid 3 stars total. The food was a 4 - 4 1/2 stars, fish and chips were good, fish was fried properly, the shrimp, oysters and clam strips were likewise very good. The fries lack seasoning but you can always add salt. The one disappointment was the coleslaw dressing, it was very bland Overall a tasty lunch though Now, what drags down that score? Two two-piece fish and chips, a captains plate, two clam chowders and two coleslaws--- $65.40. This is significantly more expensive than comparable nearby restaurants for fish and chips. The second factor is that today, the young man who was working behind the counter wasn't wearing a mask except for when he came to the register to take payment and hand the food over. All the time he spent preparing our lunch was sans mask. We have high risk individuals in our group and given the times we live in, we would have been more comfortable had he been wearing a mask all the time he was handling our food. read more

What a wonderful find! The clam chowder was AMAZING and gluten free! The right balance of herbs and clams! We also had the fish. If you want beer battered fish this is not your place but if you want quality fish in a wonderful light breading then you have to try this. Come have a beer and some great food! read more

I had the bouillabaisse and hubby had the cod & chips. Both were fantastic and cooked just right. I was surprised and pleased to see that my stew wasn't just sitting in a pot getting old. No, it was assembled freshly while I waited and hubby's fish was fresh cooked too. We enjoyed a rare sunny December day outside while waiting for our food which the owner delivered himself. As we were finishing our lunch, the owner came out to check on us and asked if we'd been in before. We we said we were first timers, he said "wait right here" and came back with a free cup of chowder for us to share. It was really delicious- full of clams and potatoes and flavored just right. Shortly after that, a man walked by with a cup of chowder and hollered over "I would beat someone up over this chowder - it is THE BEST." Exactly. What he said. My family's one Christmas tradition is "seafood on Christmas Eve." We were in Silverdale running errands on Christmas Eve morning and were so pleased to find this place and keep up our Christmas Eve tradition. This place is just amazing! I'm visiting from San Diego & wanted to try some seafood from the PNW and let me tell you, Kettlefish didn't disappoint. The atmosphere is adorable (located in Old Town Silverdale if I'm not mistaken) and the restaurant was very clean with a nice design to it as well. In the week I stayed here, I went twice because it was that good! And every time I got wonderful service from their hospitable staff. Very knowledgable on all the local beers/ciders I was curious to try along with my meal & so kind to me the entire time. When the food came out, I was in heaven. Delicious cod & chips, and the fried clams were my absolute favorite! The cod was tender, the breading was flakey and the fries were cooked to perfection instead of the usual oilness that usually turns me away from fish and chips. It's also worth noting* on my second visit I got the clam chowder & it was also great. I wish they had a location in SoCal but should I ever visit again this place is 100% on my To Do List. read more

One of the best things about the Silverdale Waterfront is THIS gem! Love the food and the causal atmosphere. We dined al fresco. It was bright blue skies, just the right temp. kind of day. Reasonably priced, high quality and super friendly and accommodating staff. Went above expectations of a typical order at the counter atmosphere. We had the Alaskan cod fish and chips and they were a-maz-ing! Light and crispy and delicate with some really subtle but fantastic seasoning. I completely understand why this is a favorite here! I'm pretty sure it was the best fish and chips I've ever had. We also split the Cioppino which came with a nice sourdough (I believe) dinner roll, perfect for dipping. High quality fresh, local, delicate fish including shrimp, mussels, clams, crab and cod. It was enough to satisfy our hunger! The broth was perfect with just the right amount of seasoning; not too salty and not too bland. Perfectly cooked tomato, fresh herbs and celery and an ample variety of seafood; Piacevole! Kettlefish offers several exciting bowls of soup and that is what we focused on. Each bowl comes with a lovely hard roll and butter. You place your order at the counter and then seat yourself. Your order is delivered to your table when it is ready. Both soups we ordered were terrific, we had the bouillabaisse and the chowder. Each was full of flavor and seafood. I was super excited to try this place for the cioppino, it is my favorite food and I will order it whenever offered on a menu, so I have an idea of what a good cioppino should taste like. Going to a restaurant named Kettlefish I had high expectations and sadly they were not meet at all. The soup was bland and the fish was extremely chewy. It seemed as if the soup was sitting out all day, possibly for multiple days. Additionally the roll provide with the soup was extremely stale. In all I probably took three bites and ended up throwing away the rest of the food. If you are in Kitsap county I would highly recommend avoiding Kettlefish and trying one of the many other seafood restaurants that offer a better atmosphere, better service, and way better food. read more

Anyway, I paid $8 ($10.90 w/ tax) for one piece of cod and chips (French fries) for my lunch. I had my eye on other dish that seems healthier, but my meal is the cheapest meal I can find in the menu. The cod batter, and French fries just okay, no special spices added to it. Same goes with their tartar sauce. I've had better tasted satisfying lunch many times at a lesser price. This place was an epic failure for my wife and I. It started out with an undrinkable coke, asked for another and they said the machine is broke and didn't offer any alternative. Waited over 20 minutes, and it wasn't even busy. Worst clam chowder I've ever had, more like bland soup. Food finally showed and the portion size was kid size. I sampled everything on my plate and was very unimpressed, while I glanced at my wife spitting hers out. We both looked at each other and walked out with 80% of our 40 dollar meal on the table. But at $18, not something I'd order again. Didn't care for the breading which seemed...manufactured I guess. I little too consistent and even. But, the server gave me a sample of clam chowder and that was GREAT, and only $5/cup. Would go back for the chowder, and will. Skippers is better and I am not a big Skippers fan. Shrimp was just OK. Clam chowder seemed watery and not much flavor. The coleslaw is not good, we had two bites. What really ruined the experience was when the staff asked what I thought and the lady with purple hair started arguing with me about the items I disliked. Don't ask if you don't want to know. If you like fresh, high-quality local seafood, without the fussyness of a fancy restaurant, Kettlefish should be your next stop. We live in Spokane and regularly visit Silverdale to visit family. Every time we are in town, we eat one or two meals at Kettlefish. We have been here probably a dozen times and were never disappointed. Their fish and chips and Captain's Platter are very tasty, but the amazing flavors are found in their seafood stews and soups: Bouillabaisse, Cioppino and Pacific Pan Roast. Theses are packed with excellent seafood and the broths are delicious. Local seafood, friendly staff, super clean with indoor and outdoor eating areas, as well as takeout. Enjoy! read more
