    Mahi mahi tacos

My husband and I decided to spend our morning down in Poulsbo today to go look at boats and then shop around before lunch. We had planned on going to Sogno Di Vino but they were unfortunately closed today so we headed to JJ's Fish House for some fish and chips and mahi mahi tacos. Both were splendid! We got there before they got the lunch time rush so we had the best view on the patio and food was quick and hot! I love their fish tacos and I know it's no secret how good they are but I really always forget how much I love a good corn and pineapple slaw on a taco! So delicious and not too sweet.

Gluten, free, and dairy free review: We decided to take a little trip to Poulsbo Washington and we found this one restaurant we brought our dog and she got to sit outside while we eat. They were so kind and gave her treats and water. We definitely have gluten-free and dairy free absolutely delicious. If you have trouble with spice, you might want to double check with that. We had the fish delicious my daughter loved the tacos. If you're in Poulsbo Washington, go ahead and stop in here. The ambience is great. The service is great.

(8/7/26) We sat quickly, our server was attentive and kind, drinks were yummy, and our food was served piping hot! What more could we ask for? We sat on the patio and the weather was great. I love how the employees didn't seem upset by customers bringing their pets while they dine on the patio. My friend has a legitimate service animal and some restaurants have been extremely rude to accommodate us, so it gives me confidence that they will be welcome here!

The Seafood here was really good. We started off with the Calamari and for entrees my wife and I had the Fish and chips and the Cioppino. Service was great and very attentive. Food came out fast. Definitely love the vibe of the restaurant.

We went here for lunch on a gorgeous day in Poulsbo. The 3 star rating is somewhat curious given the fact that we had an excellent experience. We sat outside because the weather was perfect. I had the fish and chips with cod and onions rings. The cod was fresh and had no fishy taste or smell. The fish was not overly battered. it was cooked perfectly. The onion rings used real onions, not minced. They were excellent. The Cole slaw was sweet with raisins and was excellent. The portion was very generous and I was absolutely stuffed by the time I finished everything. The wife had fish tacos with halibut and loved them. The halibut was fresh and had no fishy smell or taste. She got 3 large tacos in flour tortillas. She could eat only 2. The kid had kid's version of fish and chips and liked it! She ate all her cod and most of the chips (fries). My Alaska Amber was perfect pairing with cod. Our server Angelli was professional and friendly. Prices were reasonable for our fish dishes. I mean, fresh good quality fish is not cheap. Overall, we had a great experience and it was an easy 5 stars.

Yesterday, while in Algona, hubby wanted Fish & Chips for dinner. Instead, we had ribs! So, while in Poulsbo, I said: let's have some seafood for lunch. As we drove around for parking, I spotted that looks appealing, places to eat outside. We parked. We walked. Then we spotted: somewhere in a busy construction site-sidewalk, JJ's Fish House. We didn't know exactly how to get inside. Hubby did checked them out on YELP first, and it was 4 stars. We went for it! I found a shaded seat, outside, since the inside was packed. Usually, I would have picked the inside, since we're having heat wave, but this time "shaded, with a touch of wind' is more my kind of environment! We were shaded all through our meal! Our waiter was quite prompt and friendly and took our order right away and came back out and checked how we're doing. For our 51st Anniversary, surprised us with a slice of Tiramisu, with a 'touch of Norway!' Thank you! We ordered a Salmon Rice Bowl, which came with a plate of spinach and sides of cucumber slices, brown rice, and nicely cooked salmon. Very very good, it was even better for my lunch the next day. (We have a cooler, that kept cold even hours later). We also ordered Lobster Roll, Onion Rings & Clam Chowder. The chowder, was thick and full of clams. In my life, I think this is the BEST ever clam chowder, even the Oregon Coast can't have it this good! Hubby agrees with me! I'm talking 5 decades of know-how on clams! The lobster roll was 'excellent', almost as good as something you'd buy in New England or Maine. The restroom could be improved, a bit dirty! Construction was going on, it spoiled the view, but we didn't care. Our parked car was just over there, and we were able to go back, put our leftovers and venture on. All in all, I didn't mind the view, and people watched, and I'm not complaining about the heat, hubby got me his 'neck cooler' using my leftover water, wet it, wrapped around my neck, and my umbrella kept me happy and cool the rest of the day, plus my neck fan. Happy as a clam, indeedy! BTW: I influenced two female (my age and older?) to sit in the shade, across from us. It's pleasant out here! After going inside and see how packed it was, they DID came back, to sit where I pointed out. We were conversing from across tables. When I went to use the restroom, I stopped to converse more, but I think . . . they wanted to ask more about my neck fan. I think, since today's my mom's 7th year anniversary of going to heaven, she's the miracle lady that showed up today, of all days! No matter, it was a pleasant conversation.

We came to JJ's Fish House as a party of six over a holiday weekend and had such a great experience. Even with the crowds, we were seated right away and the service was on point the entire time--friendly, attentive, and always checking in without hovering. Everyone at our table loved their meal, and my clam chowder in a bread bowl was absolutely to die for--rich, creamy, packed with flavor, and the bread bowl was perfectly toasted. Exactly what you want from a seaside spot like this. Will absolutely be back next time we're in town!

    Shrimp tacos
    Melissa V.

It just wasn't great. We ordered shrimp tacos, and the fish and chips. The tacos were super stuffed, and were eating lettuce. The shrimp was a decent size but was lost in the taco. I thought they were spicy so that's a turn off for me. I believe it was a spicy mayo or chipotle mayo. Fish and chips was just okay from the person who ate it. Share the portions are huge! Server was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Stars are not based on her service. We came close to closing so the ambiance was quiet. Especially for a Friday night in Poulsbo.

Fish and Chips, Cod was nicely battered and moist inside. The portion size was good. French fries were nice and crispy. The mussels were okay, a little under seasoned. But mussel meat weee tender and broth briny and clean tasting. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. Space is airy And a nice view looking out onto the waterfront. Solid food and great restaurant vibe.

JJ's Fish House is located at the Historic downtown waterfront. The restaurant is facing the water, lots of table to choose from, from outdoor to indoor. There are lots of food to choose from. We ordered 3 piece cod fish and chips. Also ordered the mussels in broth with fries and garlic bread. They were good and generous servings. Fish was big and cooked well. The mussels were good but a little more flavor would have made it excellent. But it was cooked well not gummy at all. Very good size and texture. It was a very busy lunch because weather was perfect. Lots of people yet the servers were good and able to take care of all the tables Perfect ambiance. Would come back anytime.

JJ's Fish House Review -- Soup-seeker edition I came into JJ's Fish House absolutely dying for some soup -- the kind you wrap your hands around and instantly feel revived. What I got was... good, flavorful, and very robust, but it definitely leaned more "seafood stew" than "cioppino." It was thick, almost too thick, and missing the broth I was craving. And just to be honest, what arrived at my table looked nothing like the cioppino photo featured on their website. Don't get me wrong: the taste was solid, the seafood was fresh, and I still ate every bite. I just wanted that warm, soupy comfort I'd been dreaming of, especially on a cold day. What really threw me off, though, was the customer service. For the prices here, I expected a bit more warmth -- maybe even a smile that traveled all the way to the eyes. Instead, walking in felt like I'd interrupted a group of friends mid-hangout. They offered water and did the basics, but there was no genuine greeting, no eye contact, and no real engagement when taking my order. The kind of stuff that makes a meal feel welcoming was noticeably absent. Bottom line: The food tasted good, but the experience could be so much better with a little more hospitality... and a lot more broth.

This is exactly how I imagined a local fish house should be--laid-back, welcoming, and right on the water. Tucked in the heart of downtown Poulsbo, WA--a charming little "Viking" town--this spot nails the coastal vibe with friendly service and plenty of patio seating overlooking the marina. The seafood here is clearly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Nothing was over-seasoned or masked--just simple, clean flavors that let the ingredients shine. The fish and chips were a standout: thick, crispy pieces of halibut, perfectly golden and generously portioned. The mussels were another highlight--tender, not rubbery, and served in a rich, flavorful broth that was good enough to drink. And of course, local oysters--super fresh and briny. How can anyone say no? If you're in town and craving seafood with a view, this place is a must. Casual, cozy, and exactly what a good fish house should be.

While it has always been a great spot, they have managed to improve even since our last visit - great food, lovely ambiance, and outstanding service. We were a little worried about getting a table as you cannot make reservations for parties fewer than 5, but we were seated immediately and greeted warmly by the staff as we walked in. Dinner was reasonably priced, and each dish we had was wonderful. Our waitress was incredibly attentive without being hovering - an art form if you ask me - and even made sure to wish my wife a happy birthday. We left happy, well fed, and unanimously determined to get back there soon. Many thanks to the Bistro Team for a great evening.

The ragu had incredible depth of flavor with just the right amount of saltiness, and the ossobuco was beautifully cooked and super tender. * Burrata Caprese: Fresh, creamy, and made even better by a unique pistachio pesto. * Starters: A bit of a mixed bag. We had a couple of other starters that were really good, though the roasted potatoes with spicy tomato sauce/aioli and goat cheese stuffed dates were just okay. The Miss & Service Notes: * Seafood Paella: The biggest letdown of the night since it was the dish I was most excited for. Very bland and lacking depth--I actually ended up mixing leftover ragu sauce into it just to give it some flavor! * 30-Min Chicken Warning: A friend wanted the half chicken, but we had to pass because the server mentioned a 30-minute cook time after we asked. It would be super helpful if that wait time was explicitly noted on the menu! * Menu Wish: Was secretly hoping for an octopus/polpo dish given their tapas focus, but no luck this time. Verdict: Great prices and awesome value overall. Stick to the rich pastas, braised meats, and pick your starters carefully!

This review will be a bit long, but I feel it's important to acknowledge when businesses go well above and beyond... into orbit in this case. Not only did they work to exceed expectations, but to set the ultimate standard for customer service and to demonstrate a commitment to caring for people beyond the customer-business relationship. This post is also a message both as an endorsement for diners, but also an advisory to every other business in this county. Take note - this is a roadmap for how you win forever customers: Last Saturday, my daughter got married in Poulsbo, in a ceremony that involved guests from Alaska, California, and Colorado. On the Sunday morning afterward, my wife Gayle and I threw a brunch celebration for our out of town guests as a thank you for making the journey for our daughter's special day. We made the reservation back in February in order to ensure they would have room for 20+ guests. At some point between then and now, Sully's decided to stop serving brunch. We didn't need to be their problem. It would have been easy to call or email us and let us know that our plans would have to change... with sincere apologies and an explanation as to why - blah blah blah, and with enough notice to get a reservation elsewhere, maybe. They didn't. In fact, they didn't even tell us they'd stopped brunch service. Some of our guests were calling us and asking: "Hey, Google says they're closed. Are you sure about this?" We didn't know, but figured we'd show up and find out. Instead, Sully's made sure to have enough staff a few hours early on Sunday, enough food, broke out the old brunch recipe book and dusted it off, and cleared the patio and set it up. All of that work just to ensure our guests had brunch. And a fabulous time. This was solely for our benefit. They weren't going to make a lot of money on just our party. Truth be told, they might have even lost some on it. They could have just shrugged us off. But they honored their commitment, even though it was a hassle, and a lot of extra work. Even though it meant knowing they'd have to special order food just for us, even though it meant more expense. And - not to belabor the point - they trusted US to honor *our* agreement to come. They hadn't taken a deposit. We could have ghosted them, especially if we'd believed Google's page saying they were closed. After all, we were strangers to them. But they treated us like family. And then... ...they crushed it with the food, the drinks, the service. They setup a special U-shaped table, complete with linens and flowers, and showcased a view of the Duwamish Sea that is unmatched in Kitsap County dining. I'd list all the food items and give a review - each one a culinary gem. But that would be cruel. I'd be bragging about food we had that won't be available to the community at large again (unless they bring back brunch... pretty please). No, what I wanted to call out was how deeply touched my wife and I were at their willingness to honor their promise, our reservation, and then go the extra mile to make it special. They didn't have to. But they did. And our guests were incredibly impressed, both with the food and the service. Thank you, with our whole heart, to the people of Sully's... from the owner on down to the staff. You made our day so very special. And while they may not serve brunch anymore... I urge you to go there for lunch or dinner. Support a restaurant that demonstrates loves for its community through its actions, not just words or fancy FB posts. And get the wings! (My personal fave) You won't regret it. Cheers to you, Sully's! We'll be diners with you for life.

My husband and I came here last evening craving for some tacos. Growing up in the bay area in Cali, tacos are a huge hit and I can definitely say a small place like this in Washington really did their thing. Tacos were good. The birria tacos were okay but definitely were a little dry and definitely could've had more meat and cheese. The consomme was very bland so dipping the birria tacos in it didn't really make the tacos taste any better. Burrito was okay however, it was very flat. Flavor was definitely there and was really tasty. I just wish there were more ingredients added. Honestly it felt like I was eating a quesadilla rather than a burrito. My husband had cocktail which he liked very much and I had horchata. Horchata was good but a tad bit grainy. Our server was very nice! Service definitely was great. We were served our food very fast and even then the food was HOT! This spot is very compact and intimate. Would not recommend for larger parties 4+. All in all tacos were the star of the show. Sogno di Vino - Poulsbo, WA…read more We had an excellent meal at Sogno di Vino on their beautiful outdoor patio! The setting under the big tree with string lights was charming and made for a perfect sunny summer afternoon. We started with the bruschetta, which was fresh, bright, and nicely finished with a balsamic drizzle. For our main dishes, we ordered two versions of the Linguini alla Checca: one loaded with large, perfectly grilled shrimp and the other topped with seared ling cod. Both pastas were light, flavorful, and beautifully executed with sweet cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and generous shaved parmesan. The seafood was cooked just right and really stood out. We also shared a con carne pizza piled with Pepperoni, Fennel Sausage, Salami, Pancetta, Mozzarella, and Goat Cheese. YUM!!! It had a great crust with nice char and tasted fantastic. Everything arrived hot and clearly made with care. The service was friendly and attentive, and dining on the patio was a real highlight. If you're in Poulsbo and looking for solid Italian food in a relaxed outdoor setting, Sogno di Vino is an easy recommendation. We'll definitely be back.

Forgot our waitress' name but she had cute black cat earrings on. She and the man bussing the tables checked up on us and made sure all our orders were correct. But we had to ask the hostess for things because we couldn't find our waitress. It took awhile for our drinks and food to arrive. We waited almost half an hour before our food were brought out to us. In the mean time we were given yummy complimentary focaccia bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. The Salssicia pizza with sausages and mushrooms was a hit with our group. We also ordered the Caleb and Primavera pizzas.

There are plenty of options for most dietary needs and appetites. I don't tend to eat rice, so I like the mix of cabbage and wild greens. I would not eat poke if I had to eat raw fish of any kind, which is what they are all about. I'm super grateful that they have a few cooked items. I get shrimp, tofu, and avocado. I'm not crazy that they charge extra for the very slivers of avocado, but it adds to my bowl. In a good way. I like my sauces put in little containers so I can control the amounts. So they're super accommodating. I've been there three times and i've had a great meal each time. It might not be for everyone, but i will happily introduce my friends to Poke Pop. I really do like it. I think my vegan friends would appreciate that they can make vegan bowls. But I don't think they'll come, because they have to walk past the raw diced seafood.

The person waiting on me (I never got a chance to ask if he was the owner, but something tells me he may have been) graciously and patiently answered all my first-time-visitor questions. The interior was light and bright, with every surface sparkling clean. There are a zillion different choices for what to assemble into your perfect poke bowl, so honestly you can't go wrong. Every single bite of mine was excellent. I can tell I'm going to become a frequent flyer here!

All hard surfaces, so I need to let you know that the place is a bit noisy. It wasn't full and we had trouble hearing each other across the table. They have a full menu for brunch and prices range from around $16 for "the usual" of eggs, bacon, and roasted potatoes to $25-30 for fancier plates. Note that toast was a side with extra charge. Brunch for 3 with coffee (and toast) was $115 including tax and tip. Not cheap, but the food was pretty good. The corned beef hash that I had came with a horseradish sauce that was a bit unusual, but good. My wife had "the usual" eggs, bacon, etc. Our son had the "beef benedict" with shredded beef, which, again, was a little unusual, but he said it was good. Service and staff were attentive and pleasant. It is a very convenient place for a nice brunch. We will be trying it for dinner sometime.

The ambiance is attractive and we were immediately greeted and seated upon our arrival. There is a private lot. I started with an exotic drink with mezcal and fresh blackberries since this is blackberry country. I forget the name but it is on the picture. It was delicious. The wife had Passion Fruit and it was also delicious. For entrees, the wife had chicken mole and did not care for it. The chicken was bone-in which is normally fine, but she did not care for this chicken. The mole was very spicy. There is a difference between flavorful with a kick or slow burn, but this was overtly spicy. She did not eat much and did not take it home. I had an exotic dish which I don't remember the name but it was essentially a chicken stew served in mortar bowl. Rice and black beans came on the side, but I added them to the stew to make it thicker. It was delicious. Very flavorful with a slow burn. If the review were based on this dish alone, it would be 5 stars. Our server was attentive and helpful. I liked the vibe and food more than the wife did, We are in Poulsbo only a couple of days so we probably won't return, but if we were here longer I would lobby for a return.
