definitely do not order the clam chowder... There's no way this is like it came out of a can and I'm pretty sure it did. Don't even try to find clam in this chowder... The color is even off. is terrible! There's absolutely salads and only fried food if that's what you're looking for. It's not cheap... Tried the halibut fish and chips and the shrimp along with my chowder. Halibut wasn't terrible but nothing was great. I heard there are a few left. Inside the restaurant it was spotless clean a friendly staff member took my order. I asked what type of fish. Personally I like cod and haddock this was pollock. I've not had it generally so I was going to see what's up. The clam chowder was hot, for me a bit salty and didn't taste clams. For me was very starchy but it is what it is. Not for me. The chips were typical food service type but hot and crispy. Cole Slaw was good. Nice flavour and crispy cabbage etc I was pleasantly impressed with two traditional tartar sauce. One sweet and one with dill. Personally the dill is original not a fan of sweet but glad the gave that option. Let's face it, most of what has been left of skippers gets by on nostalgia. The only other open restaurant is old and while it's a time capsule, it frankly isn't appealing anymore. Chowder was tasty but the cod fish was as way too thick with breading! Was not good at all. For paying close to 50 dollars the fish should have been better quality. Look you should do better! Talk about a childhood throwback! Today my husband and I decided to stop by Skippers Seafood & Chowder in Silverdale, Washington for the first time in over 15 years for myself. Not only was the food delicious and hot still by the time we got home, but the service was so pleasant, and the supervisor that was working and training his new hire was doing such a great job instructing while keeping up with all of the customers. My husband got halibut and chips, I got chowder and a few scallops - yum! Also to note, this location is so much more modern and bright than I remembered it from growing up!! Let me start this review by saying I have been dining at and loving Skipper's for nearly 50 years. I have dined at Skipper's locations all over the PNW in all their iterations (full-service restaurants and the tiny 'Go Fleet' locations embedded in other businesses). After dining at the Silverdale location, I wish to award them the distinction of GOAT (Greatest Of All Time). This includes all Skipper's I've visited in the past. THE ROSES: Ample parking. Easy to find. Reasonably good location (if you live in west Puget Sound). Spooky clean. Nicely appointed with large screen TVs if you want to watch news or sports while you dine. All foods executed perfectly. It is clear they filter their frying oil regularly, and pay careful attention while they're cooking; nothing is overdone. A real standout is the staff. They are uniformly pleasant, efficient, and professional. They appreciate your business and it clearly shows. They make what is already a pleasant visit downright special. THE THORNS: Nothing. THE VERDICT: I honestly don't know why the Skipper's chain fell into decline. It could be that fish and chips simply wasn't cheap fast food (note that in the PNW, all the casual seafood restaurants like H. Salt and others folded up). It is great to see a few Skipper's still around; it is a shame that there are none in the Seattle area. I suppose it's all for the best that this Silverdale Skippers is not convenient for me; if it was I'd probably weigh 400lbs! Totally recommend; it's even worth making a pilgrimage to! read more

Coming from out of town. Pretty surprised when we walked in. Haven't stepped foot in a Skippers in many many years. Place was clean, nice dining environment and up to date music. The Food was Fresh. Yay! The Service was Stupendous. Yay! The Floor is Clean! Yay! The Atmosphere is Awful. Boo... Boo. Minus 2 Stars. My wife and I are sensitive. We had to leave the restaurant as the music was Too Loud, Full of "explicit" lyrics, and the Bass was turned Way Up. That music would be appropriate to a dance club. Mr. Owner, you made the music how You like it. But not how we like it. Your choice is not for us. We had to leave. The Manager was extremely polite, and changed our order "to go" and he threw in some extras as an apology. That man was awesome. I didn't get his name. All the employees were really nice. People aren't coming there to listen to music, but to satisfy their hunger. We will visit again, and hope that in the next time, 1. Turn the volume down. 2. Turn the bass down. 3. Put on the least offensive music you can find. Not the Most Offensive. 4. If you spent money on TV's and Music System then sell it. The Skipper's Restaurant used to be very nasty in terms of not clean and awful service, before Mike took over and revamped everything. I really give him credit for having a dream and following through. He takes good care of his customers. Skippers is what Skippers is, it's fried food all the way across the board for the most part. There are a couple of other items but you're going to get fried food. I do like that he serves fresh and tasty food plenty of sides to season up whatever he might have missed while cooking it in the pot. My only complaint is his chowder is over-salted. read more

I previously rated this place 5 stars for their food and service. But I have to reduce this down to a one star. They unfortunately got rid of the two things that I would get there which is unfortunate but moreso I have to reduce it down because of their lack of care during this covid pandemic. None of them wear masks even though it's state mandated, no one was even wearing gloves or any kind of safety precautions at all. After a customer called them out on their lack of masks and the customer left, they continued to loudly make fun of them and say that this is all like the flu, will go away after the election , etc etc etc. Even if this is something the owner personally believes he should be enforcing his business to follow the mandates and not only use proper safety precautions but also should never ever criticize guests in front of others. By far the BEST Skippers left around! We live about an hour southeast of Silverdale and when we make our day trip to Silverdale, Skippers is ALWAYS on the list for lunch or dinner. The staff is always so friendly and the food is always on point. I loved the food as always. The manager was doing an amazing job making sure the people were separated and the tables and booth was done regularly. The problem that I did have was that one of the workers came in to eat before her shift, went to the back to cook her food while the manager was preoccupied doing tables and helping customers and cooked her own food without wearing a mask. I told the manager, and he said he didn't see her do it, which was true. She got angry because I told him. She kicked the door to the kitchen and started banging stuff around in the back. Location: the location is easy to find right off the main street next to highway. Cleanliness: The outside was nice and clean as was the inside. All the tables were clean and neat. It smelled fresh and clean in there. They were cleaning as they were making food. That's insanely good. View/ambience: There wasn't a a great view of any sort. The ambience was nice tho. There was good music and relaxed atmosphere. Nice and comfortable. Taste: I tried the clam strips and OMG they were not heavily breaded and actually had a good taste to them. They were the perfect amount of crispness and shrimp. Ifnyoi add the garlic vinegar it's even better! Fries: the fries were not greasy and nicely fried. And I actually liked how They were seasoned. Not heavy or to light. Garlic Vinegar: is amazing!!it has a good taste to it, especially if you like vinegar or garlic. It had that nice garlicky taste that mixed well with the vinegar and gave my food a nice strong taste as I ate it. Service: The service was great. They were attentive, did not rush me and helped me with anything I had a question about. The owner was there and was super polite and courteous. Overall: I think they are a good place to go to in silverdale if you want good seafood. They were as fresh as you can get for a fast food place. The flavor was very good for fried food. It wasn't greasy as can be and it was nice and hot. I've been here a few times and so far has not disappointed. Looking forward to trying more food. I know you think Skippers and you think fast food. But it is much more! This is the third time I've been here and each time it was great. I am allergic to shellfish and the gal at the front was great and made sure the cook understood he couldn't cook my fish with the shrimp. Hubby enjoyed his chowder and we both loved the fish.
