Best kettle corn ever! Perfectly made, the person who sold it to me was a total gentleman. I'd give em 6 stars if I could!

Note that this is a food stand with no seating; for to-go only…read more Bini's has become one of my go-to lunch spots on a work day whenever I want something clean, hearty, and filling. I also love how quick the service is - I never have to wait more than a minute for my order! The food is also always pipping hot. My regular orders on rotation (I'd give them all 5 stars!): Chicken Momos ($14) - Comes in 8 pieces. The dumplings are large, flavorful, with the perfect skin-to-meat ratio. It is served with Bini's spicy tomato cilantro sauce on top; the sauce is delicious with just a slight/mild kick. Vegetarian Momos ($12) - Comes in 8 pieces. Vegan dumplings filled with tofu, carrots, & cabbage. Also served with the spicy tomato cilantro sauce on top. I love how clean yet tasty this is! Vegetarian Combo ($18) - Comes with 4 vegetarian momos and one veggie side served on top of fragrant basmati rice. For the sides, I love the Baigun Bharta, a tomato-based braised eggplant. It's saucey and pairs extremely well with the rice. The only reason I'd dock off half a star for this combo is the price. You can also mix and match the momos. For a more balanced meal, I request half chicken and half vegetarian ($14). Bini's also has a stand outside the Ferry Building every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I'd like to give a shoutout to the Bini's servers at the Ferry Building - they're very generous & usually give me 9 pieces of momos whenever I ask for half chicken and half vegetarian (usually 4 chicken & 5 vegetarian).

I like to call their platters "homemade meals prepared by a loving grandmother." Trust me, I spent a summer in New Delhi and ate a lot of home cooked meals by my host, and Munch manages to exceed those standards. Every time I come here, I get the Vegetarian Combo for $14. It comes with three different veggie sides - today, there was potato, okra, and chickpeas. (The sides rotate. I've also had eggplant, tomatoes, and zucchini here, though chickpeas seem to be a staple.) I'm not a vegetarian, but if I could eat this every day, I gladly would become one. Tips: - COME HERE FOR LUNCH. DO IT. - Munch India has a twitter account where they post updates - they'll usually post whether they'll be at a particular location, so check the page first (@munchindia) before coming. (I've had sad Fridays where I walked here without checking and no purple truck was in sight )

Self-important suits come to the FiDi trucks, and for heaven's sake, don't talk to them because they are too busy multi-tasking on their smartphones. And yes, I'm talking about women as much as men. They represent an equal-opportunity species of smug entitlement. Such is the case whenever I see this familiar navy blue Indian food truck parked on California at lunchtime during the week (photo: http://bit.ly/1QJi5Ln). The menu is surprisingly diverse for a food truck given the space constraints. I had the $10 Vegetarian Combo, which provides three veggie dishes, dal, rice and naan. The veggie dishes that day were Chana Masala (savory chick peas), Okra Bhaji (fried and curried okra) and boiled carrots from Riverdog Farms (photo: http://bit.ly/1MxBtY7). The okra was the best of the bunch with a spicy edge that cut through the sauce. I like how the owner makes a special point of using organic ingredients in his various stews. There was plenty of basmati rice to sop it up though the naan was a bit skimpy crumbled in the aluminium foil. It all came in an easily transportable covered tray that allowed me to avoid the suits. Ah, the suits. FOOD - 4 stars...good family food cart Indian off a truck, espeically the veggie options AMBIANCE - 3 stars...uhhh, it's a truck SERVICE - 3.5 stars...pretty quick with no frills TOTAL - 4 stars...bring on the dal, take out the suits

There are apparently several of these parked around downtown, but my go-to spot is the cart parked right next to the Amazon Go store on California. It's a bit of a walk from my office, but the radiating heat from the cart and aroma of sweet chicken juice makes the trip all the more worth it. I usually get the half chicken with 1/2 brussel sprouts and 1/2 potatoes, because how can you turn down potatoes roasted in chicken fat? This alone is enough to be split into two servings (and/or feed a small family for sure). Such a cool concept and the portions are totally worth it for the price. If are times when you find yourself hungry at lunch hour in FiDi and a $15 tossed-to-order salad just won't cut it, definitely keep this in mind.

To the brussel sprouts and potatoes at the bottom for that full chicken immersion! Crispy skin and tender flesh, the chicken was cooked to perfection with a light touch of seasoning.
