Requested: Evaluation of freezer compartment of refrigerator working inconsistently. Bottom line was that Kevin Grace personally conducted himself in a sketchy manner, gave suggestions for me to "try" to fix it (all of which I had already tried & had already told him), used my bathroom for a LONG span of time, told me to defrost freezer ( with "piles & piles of towels on floor in front to catch all the water runoff.") I'm very disappointed with this company. One of my colleagues AND a very close friend of mine BOTH had inexcusable experiences with owner/ technician Kevin Grace. In one incident Kevin came to my friend's home for no more than 5 minutes, only to say "you need to call a plumber" then without hesitation left a bill for over $139! --exponentially more expensive than the market rate of $50-80 for an appliance diagnostic. Also he is working under two different company names "The Appliance Doctor" and "Kevin Grace Appliance Repair"? While I urge people to seek out other companies for appliance repair, I also hope that Kevin might shift his focus from making fast money to giving honest work at a fair cost. --those two things are simple yet necessary to gaining long term customers. read more

Just had Kevin Grace out to my house to repair a 1.5 yo LG fridge, First thing was he trashed LG refrigerators - "bottom of the barrel" I believe were his words. Second, he told me I needed to defrost it it after I told him I had already done so for +16 hrs. Lastly, he quoted me $700 for a part he said was out of stock that I can I can find available online $183.16. I wish we had taken the time to check out this company before we asked him to fix our washing machine. His service call is $139.00 which is much higher than most reputable appliance repair companies. He told me that fee would be applied to the repair if he did the work. The washer needed a spin switch,(I found out after he left this is not an expensive part). He was here less than 30 minutes and charged $279.95. My receipt did not break down his hourly rate or the price of my part - just the total amount due. I called him back to ask for a breakdown on the parts and labor and was told he uses the "flat rate" system, and he didn't know the price of the part.. I won't be calling this company again if we need any appliances fixed. His company name on the truck was Appliance Doctor - We called what was suppose to be a Mt. Technician showed up and the dryer was working so he refused to do anything offering to come back when it repeats. He damanded 80 in cash for the trip even though he didnt put driver to screw. When he returned he tried to charge $400 for a 15 minute repair (that i did myself) and a $130 part that he could have gotten at a discount. He tried to rob me for something i did myself in less than 15 minutes time... drive to the parts shop took longer. I needed a stove heating element replaced. KGAAR arrived in several hours and di the work quickly, shoes covered etc....no problem. We called a number that we thought was a sears repair number. Apparently he pays google so that the call directs to him. I wouldn't give any stars but I think you have to at least put one. We had an error code on our washing machine so I called and someone came out, basically told me the part wasn't available anymore and it would be about $400. The service call was $100 and then estimate of $280 to repair but since the machine was 4 years old the part was probably not available. He said we should go buy a new machine. We went out, bought one but delivery would take a week. In the meantime, I looked up the part, bought the part, installed the part myself for $100 and cancelled the new machine. My advice it to look at YouTube videos first they seem to be my best bet! read more

My refrigerator was leaking and the repairman said the filter we'd installed a few years ago was now leaking. He said it would be $80 to fix it (basically to remove filter and reattach line to the wall.) We probably could've done this ourselves but I went ahead and asked him to do it because the service fee we would have had to pay was $50 and I figured at least he would do it right. Wrong! When he pulled out the fridge, there was gross stuff behind it (dust, etc.) that he asked me to clean before he proceeded. I did so, though I would've thought he would have done that. After he was done, he was in such an allfired hurry to get out of there that he left the refrigerator pulled out! He said maybe I'd want it that way so the floor could have a chance to dry, but I had told him I'd use a box fan at night to do that because I couldn't open the doors (and, you know, feed my young children) when the fridge was pulled out. So I struggled to push the fridge back toward the wall (he had already left at this point.) I then noticed that the light wasn't turning on and I called him and he said maybe he had forgotten to plug it back in and that he was already far from my house and wouldn't be able to come back for quite some time. Lovely. So I got a friend to help me pull it out again, then I plugged it back in, and together we pushed it back into place. By the way, the reason it was so hard to move in and out of place was because the leak had done damage to the wood floor below and the floor buckled so the wheels were unable to go smoothly over the floor. He of course knew this as he was the one who told me it. So it was all the more egregious that he left it pulled out in the first place with NO way to open the doors. I will, needless to say, never call this business again. read more

Kevin Grace provided the most horrible experience I have ever had with a service person. He charged an outrageous amount and did not fix the problem. Although he claims his work is covered by a warranty, he has refused to return and fix the problem with out refrigerator. Out refrigerator had a leak and he supposedly replaced the water system; it was still leaking. The ice maker worked before he showed up but did not work after her left. Reported to the Nashville Better Business Bureau. He refused to respond to them as well. Reported to the Tennessee Dept. of Consumer Affairs. They are investigating. Absolutely horrible experience! This man is rude, condescending, offers no assistance and just complained. Told me to call Jenn Air's customer service and get one of their authorized dealers to work in the fridge/freezer (this is after he got frustrated because I asked him if he was an authorized Jenn Air service and he said, "Of course, I've been doing this for over 20 years...blah blah blah). After taking the fridge apart, he put it all back together when I asked if it could be a condenser, thermostat, or could I buy a new drain pan assembly. I had an AWFUL experience with this vendor and would NOT recommend him. Initially, he called me back promptly and came out to evaluate my problem (broken disposal). He didn't have a new disposal on hand to do the replacement on that visit so I paid him a deposit and scheduled his return visit for the following week. He stood me up. I had to call him and track him down and remind him I had paid a deposit. We played phone tag for weeks -- and only because I kept calling. It took a month and four days to get him back out. He doesn't give time windows of when he's coming (he quoted me late morning/early afternoon and THEN showed up at 5 o'clock expecting me to be there). He didn't offer to discount the service after I had waited a month for him to perform the repair, not to mention waited around on him for two days when he said he was coming. Overall, this guy was unprofessional, untimely and difficult to deal with. Plus, really socially awkward. Even my dog who loves everyone didn't like him. My best advice: call someone else. read more

I also had an awful experience with Kevin Grace Appliance Repair. My dryer was stopping and displayed an error message. He was able to come over the next day but he misdiagnosed the problem as being a plugged vent. Something they don't handle. I was charged 59.95 for him to come out which would have gone toward the cost of repair. I had a vent specialist clean the vent but my dryer still shut off with same error message. I called and explained this to Kevin and he had me unhook the vent to see if it still shut off and it did. After texting him the model number and getting no response back to my calls and texts I asked for a refund. He never got back or responded at all. Very dissapointed! read more

He came out on 12/11/2018 to give us an estimate and figure out what was wrong with our refrigerator. Told us it was the compressor, charged us $89.95 for the service and said he'd order it in and be back next week. He never came back. Ever. We went through my child's first Christmas and first birthday without a working refrigerator. I called every day for two weeks, then called every week. He would never call me back, and if I happened to catch him on the phone, he would say he's waiting to hear from his distributor. It is April 16. Nothing. I call Kevin Grace's Authorized Appliance Repair because I was having problems with my 2 year old Maytag Bravos Washing Machine. I was getting the uL code, the F51 Code and the sd code. I was told by both Kevin and the person he sent out that most likely it needed a new senor board. Then when the repair person came out he first said it's the senor, then he said it needed a new motor and then called someone who told him it needed new springs. He replaced the springs on a Tuesday and by Monday it was doing the same codes again. I called back and talk to Kevin, he said again it's most likely the senor and that he would have the repair person come back out. I ask him what guaranteed he could give me if it still did not work with the same codes, you see I had already paid $159.00 for the springs. He told me no guaranteed, they would have to keep replacing what they though was wrong untill it is repaired. So he scheduled the repair person to come back out on Friday Afternoon. And guess what, he called me at noon on Friday and told me he did not carry the senor's and would have to order it that he would call me back. HMMMM guess what he never called. I went all weekend with no washer so by Monday I needed it repaired. I called AE Factory Service, the service guy came out on Tuesday and guess what, it did not need a senor or a motor or springs. Surprise Surprise Several items of small clothing had gotten in between the basket and sides of the washer and were keeping it from spining which was causing the error codes. So the $159.00 for new springs was a waste of money. I don't believe this company or it employees have the knowledge needed to work on Appliances. I've used these guys twice and the only negative thing I can say about them is I wish they could be a little more specific about your "appointment" time. I guess that's just the nature of the business. With that said, they were willing to work with me on the appointment and in the end, they showed up faster than the other guys. Their service fee is lower too. (I called 3 other places including one of the big nationwide guys) Final cost is never pleasant but it was fair. I called a complete week ahead of time on a Saturday to get someone to come look at my dishwasher. I called again on that Thursday to see if I could get an estimated time they would show and was told there was no way to do that, but I was on the schedule. I waited around all day on Saturday, (my day off) for someone to show. Finally around 2:30 I called and asked when someone was coming and was told, "Derick is your technician and he will call when he's on the way". I never got a call, nobody showed up. Kevin Grace and his repair services have reaffirmed to me why you CANNOT trust people. He is a very rude and unprofessional individual. He claims to have been in business for 22 years and that he has a legitimate buisness, however, He is the Owner/Driver/Repairman/ Secretary and it would appear to me that he is a one-man show. His ad claims " Fast Same Day Service, 24/7 Emergency calls, FULLY STOCKED radio dispatched trucks." He claimed to have to order a "RARE part that he has never needed before.... " on a dryer we purchased locally and is a name brand. A brand that is even listed as a brand IN HIS AD! He takes money before he has done the work, he does not keep his scheduled appointments, he does not return phone calls, he robs people by promising to provide a service that may never be fufilled. If it is fufilled it will be at his leisure. He had no problem RUSHING our deposit "for our part" to the bank moments after he left our house, but has yet to place that part in our broken dryer. This is the only rushing I have seen this man do. We called him in plenty of time to fix our appliances and based on his word and the money we invested we were hopeful that we would have working appliances over Thanksgiving. We are out money and he left us hanging high and dry through the holiday when we could not even call someone else. When we expressed our frustration towards the whole situation he became more rude and essentially told us that we owed him even more money ! This company really is something else. He came with one of the most unprofessional attitudes I have ever seen. He was demanding and disrespectful. After ringing the doorbell at least twenty times, he finally came in to look at the refrigerator. He even went as far as saying "I'm gonna need you to move your car so I can park in your driveway. I don't feel like walking back and forth from the car because the parking space was too far." I could not believe it. Then he walked in and asked what was wrong with the refrigerator? Do not use this company! We had Kevin Grace out for a quote/repair on an appliance. The first weird thing I noticed was that he would not say hello. Just walked on in the house after I answered the door. Okay...maybe he was having a bad day. We've all had one of those, right? However, for some reason he was obviously in an extreme hurry. Then we noticed he wouldn't talk at all...I mean no small talk whatsoever. You know the stuff you do to be polite to others so they don't feel stupid... (like me apologizing for the mess under the fridge for one...) Then after looking our appliance over, he gave us an unreal high quote and then proceeded to answer ALL our questions with the same 3 word monotone answer. Even when the question my husband asked had nothing to do with the.... (insert 3 word answer here). Since he was asking such a high repair price you would have thought he would've been more willing to explain what was going on. Now, all that being said, after having to deal with the inconvenience of a faulty appliance for more than 3 days, we were more than willing to pay the high price, if he had just been a LITTLE nice. As it was, we couldn't get him out of here fast enough. Thankfully, the thing fixed itself after another 3 days, no high repair price needed. read more
