    Pant hems

I really, really wanted to like this place. And I'm not complaining, I'm doing this to warn others. I'm short, so I needed to find a tailor to hem lots of pants. They have very good rating on Yelp. I had 5 pairs of pants hemmed for $10 each and the result was terrible. The hems are crooked and the stitching is not smooth. She stretched out the jean and stitched so when you let go of it, the seam is bumpy and crooked. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I would be very careful if you go there and explain in detail what you want and the result you're looking for. Sadly, I won't return.

Had a quick alteration done for a couple holes in a crewneck, and it was quick, easy, and only $5. Definitely happy to not get overcharged.

I've brought in plenty of pants for tapering, shortening, taking in the waist, etc. Last winter I brought in pants that were off the rack and a little long with a 32 length. As usual, I tried them on with shoes and Kim helped measured the length to shorten and I picked them up a week later. Super quick process. I didn't try them on at pickup since I had a lot of work done by her previously so I had no reason to doubt her work. Unfortunately I went 3 months without wearing them but when I did, they were still far too long so I had to bring them in again. I explained the situation and when she examined the pants, she told me it was still the factory stitching so there wasn't any work done by her or any other tailor. I was surprised by that, and that she didn't recognize her own work. I assured her I brought them in just a few months prior. When she remeasured the length, she marked to pants to shorten another 1 1/8 in. She said that she always cuts the length requested by customers and so it was my fault and had to pay again for work on the pants. I have all my pants around 29 inseam so this obviously was not accurate and rather annoying she tried to blame me for the incorrect length since she was the one who previously measured. I needed them done so I went ahead. I didn't want to leave a review about this but the following experience was embarrassing and needed to share. I recommended her shop to a friend who needed to shorten the length of 2 curtains but had a horrible experience. At pickup, Kim casually mentioned that 1 of the curtains were already damaged at drop-off and that she decided to do a free patching for the damage. My friend was not notified of any damage prior to pickup, and furious there wasn't any sort of communication. She couldn't even return the "already damaged" curtains because of Kim's unilateral decision to patch the hole. I felt responsible so I sent my friend $600 to cover the cost of curtains. If there was truly damage already, why wouldn't you inform the customer first to decide options?! This used to be my go to tailor but it's now on my blacklist.

She worked so hard to make it fit right but when she gave me the quote, I had to be honest and say it wasn't worth it to me because I was only wearing it for half an hour. She didn't get mad, but instead she worked with me to figure out what we could do instead to make it within my budget. After showing me her expertise in knowing what to do to still make it look good, I knew I could trust her with my wedding dress. Things I never considered, she knew and could advise. For example, I honestly thought my wedding dress was good enough, but after her comment about the hip area for my red dress, I knew I just had to have her look at the white dress as well. I didn't even wait for her to finish the red dress before I came back with the white one, but she worked fast! She actually finished it early. She even took the time to help me extra secure the clasps for both dresses. Can't express how much I appreciate her!!! In the pictures below, you can see how my red dress went from poor fit/low quality to wowza!

I was immediately greeted by Ali who treated me kindly, professionally, and guided me through the process with the immense range of clothes I brought from pea coats to jeans to suede jackets. Everything he did was fantastic and looks like it was hand-crafted for me. All prices were more than reasonable and I got all sorts of new things to wear. I should have posted a review then but I absolutely had to after my latest. On Tuesday, I tried on a dress I was intending to wear at a wedding that I leave for on Thursday and noticed to my dismay it did not fit how I wanted and was too low-cut. I immediately ran over in a complete panic to see if it was even possible to fix in... one day. It's a silk/satin fabric with a unique cut so I wasn't optimistic. Ali took it in stride and finished it IN ONE NIGHT. He did an incredible job, was super respectful and considerate when trying to figure out what adjustments to make, and I'm so grateful! Any time I ever have tailoring, I know who to go to and can't recommend him enough. THANK YOU!!!
