Came here to get my pants tailored. A hack I like to do is buy cheap Costco pants and get them tailored to they look good and they fit good and they are good bang for buck. We did some light tailoring here hemmed one pant and trimmed three of the waist lines and it was about $117 for three pairs. So a bit pricey but near Valley Fair so expected. Staff are nice. The pants took a week to get finished. They do not text you when it's finished. You have to remember yourself. read more

The scout pants I liked are no longer produced, and the best I could find were some that were 3 sizes too big. I love the cargo pockets so I bought them anyway. I took them to Forest Tailoring to be altered because my husband had a good experience getting a suit altered here years ago. For $60, they did a fantastic job taking my measurements, seeing what I liked about how my previous pants fit, and altering the new ones to fit. I am delighted with the quality of service and reasonable prices. The first place I went to couldn't do this job, but I'm happy to find someplace that could. read more

Even though I ended up not getting my tailoring done here, I still had a very positive experience. They showed me what alterations needed to be done. I needed to have a leather motorcycle jacket altered since it was bit too big on me. The price was a little high for me, but they helped direct me to someone else who could maybe help me. I can't say enough about Forest Tailoring! My daughter's cheer uniform was delayed by the company and when it finally arrived it was way too big. The first tailor we talked to couldn't make the alterations we needed, but Forest Tailoring said they could do everything we needed done. The measurements for a suit I ordered for an upcoming wedding was way off and my pants were too long. I dropped into forest tailoring without an appointment and they took measurements and I was in and out within minutes. They asked when I needed the pants and I told them I needed the pants in 2 weeks which they said that'll be plenty of time. I received a call 2 days later saying my pants were done. This review is a little late, but I really wanted to take a moment to recognize the team at Forest Tailoring for their high-quality work, close attention to detail, and outstanding service. I had a wedding to attend and, of course, I waited until the last minute to get my dress. I called on a Thursday right before closing (I know, not ideal), and thankfully they were kind enough to take on the project. Not only was the price very fair, especially compared to another place that quoted me $170. They also had my dress ready by 1 p.m. on Saturday, the day of the wedding. As an ex-Bonobos employee, I was constantly referring this place to my customers. Although I have never actually been here myself. Yesterday my husband and I came in for the first time. He needed a pair of pants hemmed, as well as some work done on a jacket for a wedding were attending in August. The process was super simple. He put everything on they measured them out asked us if we liked what we see and then got to work. The staff are so friendly and helpful especially because it was our first time and we didn't really know what we were doing. The parking is super conveniently located right outside. Our pick up time is literally in a week which I think is pretty quick. We are so excited to see how everything turns out but based on everything we've heard, we expect nothing less than perfection and plan to become a regular customer here. read more

My father-in-law and I were recommended Forest Tailoring by Bonobos when we bought our suits. It is just across from Valley Fair is a small strip mall. It is not the most aesthetically pleasing place. We went separately, and both had imperfect experiences, his worse than mine. He and my mother-in-law had to tell their tailor what needed to be done both to his suit and to the pants she brought. Upon pickup, his suit was still wrinkled, and her pants only had one side done. So they got to make another trip. I had a better start, my guy did a great job sizing my suit. Also, because of my in-laws experience I asked ahead of time for them to steam my suit. Upon my arrival they couldn't find my suit for about 20 minutes. When they did, it still wasn't steamed (but the work was all good). Overall, it just isn't a well run business and I wouldn't return. read more

Buyer beware!!! This placed charged my son $220 to shorten his suit jacket from the top. I called 3 other alteration shop and they each said $95 for the same service. I bought a dress pretty last minute and only had 4 days to get the length shortened before I had to fly out of town for a wedding. I called a bunch of tailors who all told me it was impossible to get it done within such a short time frame. Forest Tailoring to the rescue! They told me they'd be able to get it done within 4 days, so I brought my dress in. There were a few changing rooms for me to put on the dress so they they could measure how much they needed to cut off. They were so quick with the measurements and seemed quite experienced. The only part I was kind of surprised by was how expensive it was. It ended up being around $75-80 just to get the bottom of my dress shortened. The dress itself was $70 so I paid more to get it tailored, which didn't sit well even though I know that was a reasonable price for a dress alteration. I cannot believe I paid over $50 for this. I should have left it there and refused to pay- I genuinely feel stupid for paying for it. It was brand new but too tight when I brought it in for alterations. I got it back worse fitting and a ton of beads are gone. I specifically said when I dropped it off if they could take out the seams without messing up the beading. The sides are different heights and look at all the weird baggy extra fabric in the armpits. It was not like that when I dropped it off! I get my clothes altered all the time and have never seen such a bad job. read more

We were recommended to go to this place by Boss; left the suit coat there for making the sleeves shorter and we were supposed to pick it up 2 days later; Once we got there to pick up the coat, it wasn't ready and they did the change within 5 minutes! My teenage daughter had a horrible experience and a mental breakdown afterward. She went there by herself trying to get her school event party dress altered. After measuring, the tailor took advantage and touched her. She felt offended and ashamed of not fighting back on the scene since she wasn't sure how to handle this situation. Much like another poster on here, I purchased a new suit at Bonobos, and they suggested Forest Tailoring. Unfortunately for me, I made the mistake of believing them. I'll be contacting Bonobos separately to let them know of my experience, they really shouldn't be sending customers to this place. I initially worked with Eduardo, who marked the suit for the alterations. When it came to pay, he just had a list of numbers written on the receipt, and it was almost impossible to get a description of the specific changes - he could have just been adding random numbers, and making me pay them. But I figure this place is suggested by Bonobos, so they probably know what they are doing. Boy was I wrong. I told them when I'd need the suit, which was a few days prior to the event. After the alterations were made, there were some obvious issues! The collar was not even, resulting in a huge, obvious 1-inch gap on one side between my neck and the collar. I pointed this out to Eduardo, and he acted like he couldn't even see it. Like I was making stuff up. He then brushed the suit and said it would go away, which it obviously didn't. The back of the suit collar was also much shorter than usual, so my dress shirt collar was sticking far above this. Again, he said this was nothing, and it looked fine (if you haven't picked up on this yet, Eduardo blanket response is to either (1) never see an issue with their work, or (2) blindly insist it will be fine. His customer service is terrible, and I have no idea why he is employed there). At first he said this is just what happens when you tailor the suit, which he never told me about. He later changed his tune and said it would be another 1-2 weeks to fix and really didn't seem to care, which was not acceptable - I needed this in the next 2 days for an event. I also noticed that the suit and the dress shirt I gave them each had multiple red spots on them - per usual, Eduardo couldn't see this, and didn't care at all. How this happened, I have no idea- both were brand new, and not on them when I dropped them off. This is a brand new suit, and they really screwed it up. Around this time, Ivan came out from the back of the store and tried to help. He took over from Eduardo and said that he'd be able to fix the errors that they made- the collar gap, and the fact that they messed up the back of the collar by making it too short. He would work on it and asked me to come back in about 2 hours. But alas, Eduardo strikes again! One the way out, he asked to see my ticket. He then added another $55 charge TO FIX THE COLLAR THAT FOREST TAILORING SCREWED UP!!! It's their fault that they didn't do the work properly, and they want me to pay for it? Ridiculous. Unacceptable. So after 2 hrs, I had to drive back, and wait for the remaining work to be done. I also had to wait another hour or so for Ivan to get the red spots out of the shirt and suit. I was pissed about the quality of work and customer service, so Ivan gave me a discount. He also said he would get the suit dry cleaned after my event. When I came back, he dry cleaned the suit, but refused to dry clean the shirt- even though his company had gotten spots on that as well. That's pretty poor. Overall, this experience was awful, especially since this was on a brand new ($$$) suit from Bononbos. No one likes to hand over a brand new item to someone else and have them repeatedly screw it up, then try and charge you extra for that. That's what Forest Tailoring did. And I don't know why they keep Eduardo there- he clearly doesn't care about their work or the customers, always charges you extra, and instantaneously becomes blind when customers point out obvious issues with tailoring done by Forest Tailoring. I'm only giving them 2-stars (as opposed to 1) for the extra work that Ivan did- but it honestly shouldn't have come to that. I will not be bringing another item to Forest Tailoring again. read more

They were able to setup a special appointment for me, and Ivan personally fixed it in about 10 minutes, charging a very fair price. Not only did he get the job done quickly and efficiently, but he walked me through the process and explained some alternatives for future treatment, showing professionalism and commitment to quality of work. Walked into this shop with a totally botched and hopeless case of a pair of suit trousers. The first thing impressed me was the guy (hate to say I don't know his name -- will fix it next time I come, but they are a family running this business, so no mistake there) confirmed there's no fixing it conventionally as the people working on it before were butchers, not tailors. I respect honesty and I know one when I see one. Then the owner offers an unconventional (at least, to me and I'm a 61 yo dude, who's been wearing suits all my life) solution, so I'm, like, okay, there's no way to screw it up any worse than it already is, let him have his way with it. On top of that, the guy promises I'm gonna like it -- I'm a sales guy, I like promises. Guess what? I pick it up with a deep resolve I need to buy another pair (and I'm fine with it, things happen, life is life), but I wanna see what they've done with it. Long story short -- not buying another pair of these trousers, the guy is a genius, he's an Einstein of tailoring! LOL I'm happy and I recommend this business with all my heart! They do an okay job. It's a hit or miss. Customer service is also non existant. The owner is nice, but most of the time isn't there. The skinny guy that talks fast is very rude. Oh on top of that they charge 9.75% tax on their services when sales tax is 9.25% in San Jose. Make sure you check your bill after. read more
