Key pharmacy has recently changed ownership and it is all sparkly and brand new. I've been going there for years and loved Ira and the personal attention you get from a small business. (And if you go to Studio City Urgent Care next-door, it makes the whole thing one stop shop a total breeze) But I'm delighted to say that the new ownership still has that same personal vibe. They are so sweet. They were kind enough to even lend me a dollar to get out of the parking lot when I forgot to bring my ATM card, I'd like to see. Rite Aid do that. read more

I think this is my second review of Ira's pharmacy, Key. I remember the days when going to the pharmacy was a headache. I don't have much more to add that still isn't true from my glowing review the other day. I want to share a story that happened on my last monthly fill. J thought I lost my medication and so I rushed back and told him that I think I left my bag of all my medications sitting on my hood. He asked me where I parked and said he would look. I didn't park in the garage. The man works all day long and gets up and does it the next day, day after day. I would think he has been doing this long enough tbat he could retire if he wanted to. Over the years, he's off had a "not accepting new patients" sign because he doesn't want to leave his patients waiting and there is always a steady flow BUT I don't think I've ever waited more than 15 minutes. His business is run to perfection from my perspective and back to the leaving my meds on the cat story, when I get there he is looking around the area across the street where I told him I parked on Riverside. I got there and took over but I couldn't believe when I saw the man after whither very bad days work looking for my screw up. Turns out it somehow got hidden at my house (no doubt a symptom of the medications I need to stay sane). Trade off I suppose but I just love him. I think of hIm as family. Sort of ab uncle or something. Have no mistake about it. His kindness, and heart is understated by his personality which on first glance might lead you to believe he's cold and a little flippant even. It's a rouse. He's one of the nicest men in the business of life and importantly since he runs a pharmacy , he's the best pharmacist I know. In case it's not clear, I adore and love him. Truly. This is my second review. Mg last one was in 2014 and I had said then, "I can't believe I wanted nearly a decade to say how awesome this place is (Key)". He doesn't charge what the chains charge when there is no insurance coverage almost ever and I mean not even close. My 2014 review still stands strong but I wanted to say that if you count that decade and the time until now I've been coming here for over 15 years and I think closer to 20 so I'm an expert on all things Key. If you want a good pharmacy and you hate chains, you can't beat this place. Thank you Ira for the amazing service. I, with very little exception, give bad reviews because I hate Yelp. I don't like ruining businesses because maybe they have a bad day. I don't think in all my time coming here that has happened once. If my review seems over the top, it's because my feelings about this pharmacy are. I never knew I could like a place where I get my medication so much but it's beyond reasonable and Ira is the icing on the cake. Ira sold the pharmacy. The new owners are absolutely careless. They are going to lose all their customers the way they lost me today. Not only did they fail to call me to tell me that they don't have my medication, when the doc called the Rx in, but they did so on the Friday before the New Year's holiday weekend, at 5PM, with an attitude to boost. I asked if they can transfer my Rx to another phamacy, since now my doc's office is closed (along with most mom & pop pharmacies) and the response was "no". I asked when will you get my meds she said "maybe we can order it next month sometime". Ive gone to Ira for a decade. He always made sure i had my meds, even during the supply problems during covid. These women there are useless. Find a place that cares for you as a patent so you don't end up without your medicine for a week or more, like me. read more

Very unprofessional, discriminated against my meds and said they can't order it at all . Asked for iva / the owner for his state board license number so I can make a report to the Ada for lack of accessibility & discrimination as well as state board of pharmacy and ira freeman #23208 hung up . Future litigation will inevitably follow. If you guys have any problems with discrimination make sure you report it to appropriate agencies , they are not allowed to wrongfully deny valid prescriptions . read more

Key Pharmacy has consistently exceeded my expectations in every dimension. Having no insurance and an expensive prescription to fill, I called around -- of all the major pharmacies, including Costco, CVS, and Walgreens -- Key Pharmacy, an independent, offered the lowest price. CVS quoted me almost twice as much. And the service is outstanding -- prescriptions are filled quickly; if you call ahead, don't expect to wait longer than five minutes. Further, when I was running late, Ira stayed open a full thirty minutes past closing to ensure I received my medication. There are few business I could recommend more strongly. read more

I recently lost my health insurance when I was laid off from my job and now have to pay cash for my prescriptions. Ira consistently underbids every other pharmacy on cash prices for Rx's and they fill them so quickly - and they validate parking - Ira is wonderful as is the rest of his staff I can't say enough about Key Pharmacy. THE BEST!!! I cannot stress how great this pharmacy is! For all the people that are under the impression that good mom and pop pharmacies no longer exist, I would direct you to Ira and his staff at Key Pharmacy on Riverside Ave in Studio City. There is no reason to keep going to Costco - Key Pharmacy has comparable pricing and infinitely superior customer service. These guys get my highest ratings in all areas: 1. Customer Service - Ira has an angelic smile, which is really emblematic of the way he treats his customers. At Costco, I was constantly barked at by miserable people who clearly hated their jobs and had no concern for the well being of the patient. If I came in one day early on my prescription, the pharmacist would refuse to fill the order, treat me like a degenerate and force me to have them to call the doctor for approval. Eventually they wouldn't even call the doctor, and I would be forced to leave work early another day in order to fill a script. By comparison, Ira and his staff treat you with respect and kindness from the moment you walk in the door. They comprehend that people have lives and work schedules, and it isn't easy to get to the pharmacy on one particular day of the month. I've never had so much as a question about getting a script filled, even when I had to get it a week early because I was going out of town. They are also FAST when it comes to filling a script. At Costco, it would take 15 minutes for them to tell me they wouldn't fill the script, or the meds weren't in stock. In a third the time (seriously - 5 minutes, tops), Ira and crew have my meds ready. Key Pharmacy are true professionals and friendly to boot. Every time I go, Ira asks me if I need validation for parking. It really is the big and little things that they get right. 2. Pricing - My insurance doesn't cover the meds I take, so I ended up going to Costco, as conventional wisdom was that they had the best prices. And then I discovered Key Pharmacy, who charge me at most $5 or $10 more. As compared to the chains or other independents, who quoted anywhere from $75 to $200 more. I don't know how he does it, but Ira definitely has some of the best prices around. 3. Supply Chain Management - As I mentioned above, Costco would routinely not have my meds in stock, and would tell me to come back in a day or two. This wasn't just an inconvenience - it would routinely threaten my health. Key Pharmacy, since I switched over 2 years ago, has always had whatever I need in stock. What more can I say? PLEASE give them your business. I try to support local, independent businesses as much as possible, and Key Pharmacy is truly one of the best pharmacies out there. You will be happy you did. I love Ira and his employees. My family and I used to use chain drug stores and encountered a million issues ranging from tiny and annoying to huge and life threatening. Then we switched to Key. Night and day difference. I was a little concerned about not have 24 hour access as I had with the larger chains (I'm a mom of a child with asthma and I have asthma). The one time we found ourselves in an after-hours emergency situation I called Ira on his cell (which is listed on the answering machine message when you call after hours) and left a message. He called back promptly and was ready to meet me at the store. Amazing. He even apologized for not answering his cell when I called. Aside from stellar service that goes way above what anyone would anticipate, Ira keeps costs to a minimum. He's looked up coupons for me when I didn't know they existed. Even the over the counter stuff is a huge bargain. Do yourself a favor and give Key a try. It's a small, local business that has become a Valley Village institution. read more

After going to 3 different chain pharmacies in search of one medication, I almost gave up hope that my prescription would ever be filled. I decided to try a private pharmacy and went to Keys. This pharmacy took me back to the pharmacies of my childhood when the pharmacist stood on a raised platform and towered over you as if he had some sort of omnipotent power behind the counter. Well, he kind of does if you think about it. After my long search, I was relieved to find out he had the medication in stock and even more relieved that I didn't have to wait 2 hours to have it filled. It took 5 minutes.
