Key has been our service provider for almost six years. We have several ant colonies in our yard, so they come spray the perimeter of our house every quarter to keep the ants and other pests out of our home. Our service provider is Mike and he always sends me a reminder text the night before to give me a heads up. He will even let me know when he is not available and someone else will be providing the service. Last night we had an issue with ants coming into our dining room from an outside wall. I woke up at six this morning and sent Mike a text to schedule an out of cycle service. He arrived less than two hours later and sprayed our perimeter. My wife and I have been using Key Pest Control for several years now. They provide service to one of our properties on the Central Coast. Our tenants would alert us to minor insect problems and call Key for service. We would rely on the tenants for notification of an issue and John from Key would handle it. After our tenants moved out so that we could renovate and start using the property as a second home, I spoke with John on the phone about regular service and it has been great. Each month John arrives at the property and does an inspection of rodent bait stations, refills them if necessary and then sprays for ants and spiders. I know this because John calls me after each visit and when we have visited the property, there have been zero pests or evidence of pests. I had a termite fumigation scheduled for my rental house this morning. Key Termite just called me to let me know the gas meter to the separate house on the back property would need to be turned off. I have tenants in both of these homes. My tenants in the front home are in a motel. Their kids are at the grandmothers in Turlock. She drove all the way over to get the kids. The food is out of the house and all there belongings are bagged up. The fumigation had to be cancelled because I couldn't turn off the gas to the back house without notifying the tenant and having them stay some where else for three days. Key Termite SUCKS. The lady on the phone said there inspector did not make note of the meter situation. I certainly will not being using them in the future. read more

I hired Key Termite and Pest Control in 2019 to Tent my house and take care of all my Termite Issues. I 2022 I hired them and found I had $19000 in new termite damage. I called them out to do some of the repair work and they would not warrant there work. I paid another company to complete the work properly. Key Termite may be a good company, but unfortunately, they have a subsidiary that is horrible! M & M Fumigation is rude, and dangerous in their lack of honesty. They showed up three HOURS early to an appointment where the occupant had made it clear she worked from home. My daughter had just begun teaching online when this man came in and told her she had to leave! She tried to explain he needed to come back at the time agreed because she was working, but he would not leave her alone. She went to work in her car, where she could not get good reception and she was in the hot sun. She could not leave and go somewhere else because they had completely blocked the driveway with their trucks. I went in to get the last of the things from her refrigerator while she was trying to teach, and the man said it was empty and I had to leave. A whole drawer of lunch meat and cheeses was destroyed. That is expensive, but he didn't care. They told her they were going to release tear gas inside the house to keep people from going back in, but it would be fine by the time she planned to return. TOTAL LIE!!! It was a full week after they were told it was safe to return before the headaches stopped and they could close the windows on the house. The tear gas was trapped between pillows and blankets. The tear gas was trapped in the couch cushions. The tear gas was trapped between the hanging clothes in the closets. The tear gas was trapped between stacks of folded towels. Every time anyone, including children, in the family moved or sat on anything cloth, a vapor of tear gas floated up. They felt sick for a full week, but had to try to function with work and school. NO consideration for their health, work schedules, or personal property was given. I have never seen such complete disregard for the health or property of the people who paid for this "service." They lost work on literally dozens of properties because of this. The owners of this property have multiple properties in this county, as do some of the family members. None of us or our contacts will EVER use M & M Fumigation, and that is who Key Termite uses. They have always backed up their inspections. Should there be something that was missed just a call to the office and a re inspection in done in a timely manner without charge. Their service schedule is flexible and we have chosen the On Demand option meaning that we call them once or twice a year for service. The man providing the service is Bryan. He is knowledgeable, experienced, thorough and punctual. He is careful and mindful where and what kind of pesticide he uses. We have used this pest control company for two separate houses out in the Independence Ranch area and have had nothing but a great experience. We had a literal earwig infestation initially in a rental and, boy, what a night and day difference! Similarly in our second rental, which had been vacant for a few months, we needed to get the bugs under control. Same great outcome. If you think you can buy Home Defense and do what this company does you're wrong. We tried it- just called the "bug guy"! Lisa, who does the coordinating of schedules, has always accommodated our needs, using the service on and off as needed, and even fit someone in to do our move-out spray that was required within a week's notice. She's also a gem who has helped me calculated prices out to fit our financial needs as well. Lastly, every guy that's come out to spray has been very friendly. Lisa was very helpful and called me back first thing in the morning after I left a message on a Sunday night. Scam artists. Had house reinspected, they said there were problems, I fixed them, they didn't reinspect until I made them. That's a scam to charge you a reinspect fee. The house was inspected twice in the 3 years prior and they didn't find these issues. Regarding the response from Key: No, the problem was that you wouldn't come out for the re-inspection but charged me for it. You only came out after I argued with you. And if you're not charging enough for inspections and re-inspections, that's your fault/problem, not mine. read more

I had another local company come out and just skim thru the bid process. They barely examined the home. But Taylor is amazing at how much he cares and explains to you about this process. He tests every piece of wood and truly cares that they find and get rid of the "bad bugs"! He respects his license to provide this service to our community. We appreciated how hard he worked and the report he produced, We scheduled a tenting and they educated us through that process and I feel they really care about what they do. Tyler from Key Termite recently did a pest inspection for me. I was looking for a second opinion on a pest report that was done by a different company, which I received from a home seller during their disclosures. Tyler did a thorough inspection and spent a lot of time walking me through the various issues he found. He got into the crawlspaces and discovered a potentially serious water accumulation and fungus issue that wasn't in the other company's report. He also found multiple other issues of wood rot and fungus infection and mentioned various potential problems to fix before they caused damage. Almost none of these issues were in the other company's report, which had been done just a few days before Tyler's inspection. I was very pleased with the service I received and would definitely use Key Termite again in the future. read more

I wish I could be writing a better review for Key Termite, and despite their somewhat ungainly attempts to make things right as we encountered several problems along the way, the work they were hired to do is still unfinished and I'm not happy. Firstly the initial inspector, Tim Ridley, did a good job. He quoted me the maximum possible cost to repair the non-termite damage my home was going to need as part of our refinance. Also agreed to re-inspect at no cost. All his numbers looked great and I went with. That's where the problems started. The workers came to do the job, finished in 1.5 hours. They asked my wife for the trim paint upon arrival, which they needed to paint after installing a fascia board. Then they left without announcing they were doing so. Trim unpainted. Strike one. Got billed for this work. The amount was about double the quoted amount. Took me about 15 e-mails to get the folks at the office to invoice me for the agreed-to-amount. Strike two. Paid my invoice, finally got a worker scheduled to come out and finish painting. Informed Debbie in the office that somebody would be home all day. Worker arrived, never checked in, never checked out, did not paint all of the areas that they repaired. Strike three. Its unfortunate that any business plays the blame game when challenged by customers, but Key seems expert in this. "It's the contractors fault. The inspector never told our guys that. I didn't know anybody was going to be home". Unprofessional. Terrible communications. I get the feeling they hoped their overcharge would just sail on through like so many likely do. Not confidence inspiring. I'm telling my realtor and loan-writing folk to recommend another company. Not a happy experience. Avoid. read more

The most disrespectful employees. I would NEVER recommend this company. I returned home after a four-day fumigation and found all my doors wide open..no workers present. Then I found they had helped themselves to my bathroom. I live alone...I'm female..and the seat was up. Gross. They also ripped out the door to my storage unit..without thinking ahead. They didn't have the replacement materials so they left all my belongings exposed to the world and weather..awesome. When the workers returned two and three days later, they had used my restroom AGAIN. Both times. Leaving the seat up. I mean come on!!!! Just plain bad business practices. Not to mention disgusting. We paid $125 for start up service. Came home & found that the tech sprayed a small area & left without removing webs & spiders. (We live in an RV, very small area) When confronting the tech, he made up excuses for his poor work. We spoke with the owner & w/drew our payment as the service had not been done properly. The owner offered to send a tech back out to complete job. After requesting a dif. tech w/ the owner & also two times with the office girls, the same tech showed up & with more excuses. Needless to say we discontinued our service the day we started our service. We just don't need the drama. It shouldn't be that complicated. read more

We hired Key Termite to do an escrow pest inspection. I was very impressed by the professionalism and care that the inspector took when he came to our house. He was thorough, on time (actually even 10 min early!) and quick. Might seem silly, but I was also VERY impressed because he noticed a sign on our door about taking off shoes because we have babies and he knocked very lightly (which was good because it was naptime), not many people put 2 and 2 together and have the courtsey to think about others. I'd give this company a minus rating if I could. We have a home listed for sale in Atascadero and this company did the home inspection for the prospective buyers. We had an inspection by Doolin's Pest Control and his estimate for repairs. He came up with expected and reasonable repairs which we are having done. The report from Key Termite estimates repairs totaling $30,000. and listed outrageous and unnecessary repairs. Doolin just repaired in four hours a job estimated by Key to cost $7,000. This company is ridiculous in their numbers and an insult to anyone who knows anything about not getting taken by crooks. I recommend you NOT hire this company if you want an honest assessment of your home. read more

No one is ever available to take my call, I am now convinced that the girl in the office specifically there to screen calls. I certainly hope you do not get this mistreatment that I have gotten. Although we have had this service for many years with another company and understood the process, John explained all of the details and made sure our understanding was clear.
