They sent Tyler to my house to check out a bug infestation that I thought was termites. There were no termites in the house and Tyler clearly explained what I was seeing, even calling later to provide me with additional information about the pests we have. There were some termites in isolated areas near our barn and he explained where and why, and what changes we needed to make to prevent and eliminate future problems with them. Brian took time out of his busy schedule to come to San Luis Obispo prior to the fumigation dates to help me with bagging food items, tying the bags with tape and putting them in the refrigerator and freezer. He also discarded my unopened Vitamin C bottles. I read in the company handouts that it is ok to leave sealed bottles in the cupboards, but Brian discarded the bottles to ensure that there would be no contamination whatsoever. Also, the front office was very helpful. They answered all my questions to help me prepare effectively for the fumigation process. read more

Started out I thought this organization was friendly and thorough. That opinion changed rapidly when the day came this week to have our house tented for fumigation. Key showed up to tent about the same time the property management company did. There was an issue with our deck coming up to the house. Evidently there was a disconnect with Key and the prop mgmt company but there also was no regard for our landlord's property and Key took a skill saw to our deck and cut off a 6" × 8' section right outside our dining room that is now unsafe. In addition we were told we would receive a call that it was clear to return. This did not happen. I have an autistic daughter that has to process everything. One phone call would have prevented a huge amount of unnecessary stress for her. This may not seen like a lot to these people but when a household is up rooted for 2 1/2 days you would think that a little more customer service would be afforded. I will NEVER use this company nor will I recommend them. read more

I was doing some work in my attic about a year after another termite company tented our home when I found previously unmarked termite activity. I called Key Termite and they sent Mike B (sp?) out to inspect. He did a very thorough inspection of our home from top to bottom. Turned out that what I thought was termite activity was something completely unrelated. Mike was very professional and explained everything to us very well. Best of all, the inspection was free. My house was completely overrun with ants. I'd been battling them for months, thinking they'd eventually just go away. Nope. I finally gave in and decided to call a professional to take care of the problem once and for all. I called Key based on the advice from several friends, and they did a great job! John did the outside perimeter of the house, told me about a few issues I could take care of myself to close off some potential entry points, and I happily signed a bi-monthly service contract. John had told me that it could take several days for the ants to be entirely gone. A week later, they hadn't gone away, so I called Key again. I figured I needed to have the interior sprayed as well, and assumed that I would pay for the interior work as a new order. John came out again, re-sprayed the outside, and told me that there was no charge for spraying the interior. That was a pleasant surprise! The outside work was of course under warranty, so no charge there either. The upshot of all of this - the ants are GONE! It is so nice to look at my kitchen counters and not see even one ant. John is very thorough, easy to deal with, and a nice guy. I look forward to working with him in the future to keep this house ant-free. read more

I scheduled a pest inspection for a house that was in escrow on a Thursday and provided a lockbox code and instructions for the inspector. Friday rolls around and I hear nothing from the company so I call them, speak to the secretary, and am told that the secretary won't be able to get the report out until Monday. OK that's fine, though I am in escrow and have a limited amount of time for due diligence. It would have been nice if the company would have told me when I scheduled the inspection that the report would get to me 4 days after the actual inspection. Had I known that I would have scheduled another company. Well Monday rolls around and no word from Key, Tuesday, nothing.... long story short I never heard back from them, they ghosted me! Fortunately they collect payment when you receive your report so I'm not out money but I certainly wasted a lot of time waiting for their non-existent report. I'm glad I learned how poorly run this company was before I booked them for any actual work. read more

Make sure they give you enough bags. They were really stingy on bags even after I requested more, causing me to throw glass things in a bag all hap hazard and bathroom with kitchen. NO STAR RATING FOR THIS COMPANY! I have used them for years for Quarterly maintenance on my home. The last year they have gone through at least 3 guys to service my home. These guys call me at 9:00pm the night before to tell me they will be there the next day to spray. I have pets, this is very short notice and affects my ability to get to work on time when I can not plan ahead. One guy, sprayed my 10 hedge while walking into the back yard and killed a 4ft section of it. Of course never admitting he did it. It was so obvious. Recently was forced to used them in order to sell my home and get a termite inspection. They found dry wrought on corner of eave, offered to repair for a price, then did a very poor carpentry job in replacing the boards. I was told I had to accept the work to close escrow. Possibly if the only thing they do is fight pests. Maybe. Sadly my work which was dry rot, was done horribly by their 'wood guy'. Had to have another company, Frank Barajas, who was wonderful, fix all the messes their guy caused. Would not trust Key with anything ever again. read more

We had our house sprayed about two years ago for ants and we didn't have to call them back for a year and a half. We were so happy! Then we called and had them come back when the ants started showing up again. They came in Late July and I requested the gentleman only spray outside since this is what they did last time and it worked well. He said that was fine and he sprayed the house. A few weeks later my husband found ants in our laundry room so he called and the guy came back and put two small bait traps around my dryer. The past week or two I have been working in the backyard and have found ants several places and now they are coming into my kitchen. My husband called back and was told they only guarantee for 30 day from the initial application. Well in my opinion, if your initial application did not work the business should come back out and spray fully. I am extremely disappointed in the service here and they have lost me as a customer. I believe they don't use strong enough chemicals so the ants keep coming back and they can con you into a monthly contract. Don't use them. read more

Just a dishonest company. The whole notion of a termite/pest company inspecting a property and then basically forcing you to do unnecessary work that will be conveniently "provided" by them is outrageous. But this company padded bills, would not work with a contractor we asked to competitively quote the work on the property and was out right rude when we challenged them. I will be writing the California Pest Control Board to formally complain. read more

For the past year, Pete has done a terrific job with an initial treatment and then regular maintenance to keep my property pest free. Communication has been excellent with the main office and with Pete; he is great about arranging his visit to fit my schedule. He has resolved the dangerous black widow problem so my little dog has had no more bites. I so much appreciate his courteous manner. We got quotes from 4 different Termite companies. Key Termite was the only one who noticed how thick our beams were and suggested we keep the tent on one day extra day just to make sure and they had the cheapest quote. They were great from beginning to end. Debbie was so wonderful to work with and their guys were all very professional and nice as well. They came everyday to check and make sure everything was in order. They did not push us to replace any of the needed repair when my husband said he could do it.
