Stopped in for a birthday night out and lucked up on a Cyrus Chestnut set...say less Venue was cozy and not too crowded - room to walk and turn without bumping into some thing or body. Big screens filled the void for seats that didn't have direct view. Food 4/5 - we didn't eat much but truffle fries were tasty Drinks 5/5 - decent pour for the price and very tasty Service 3.5/ - our server was GREAT but the hostess was a little stingy with the seats - there we're definitely a few open seats closer to the front but not in the reserved section but she wouldn't let us have them. read more

Clarence "Dat Feel Good" Ward was bomb and he rip this jazz club a nice one. I randomly found this jazz club on a Thursday night and decided to take myself on a date. Brown and sexy atmosphere , great location, and a chill vibe. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable and will damn near convince you to spend it up! The dinner and dessert menu is very nice. I got the catch of the day and boy was it tasty! I clean my plate and made room for dessert. You are going to have to be ready to drop between the ## to $$$ range, but it's worth every penny. I sat at the bar and I was still able to enjoy the music with a great view . The main part of the club is of course the music! The acoustics are great. I really enjoyed it. Oh yea, the pricing for show tickets is great. I refer that you go for the premium seating, so, you can get a great, up close view of the band/ act! But get there early! read more

We have been to Keystone at least 10 times since they opened prior to the pandemic. The music is often good, although only a small fraction of the seats have a good view of the stage, as it is tucked away (actually recessed) near a corner. From more than half the seats you actually have to watch on one of several screens. The food is fair and a bit over priced. The service is often poor. Last time (two weeks ago), the server bought me the wrong beer. However, they automatically add 20% to you bill for service. Hence, there is no motivation to provide good service. So, why such a poor rating? Keystone is supposed to be a "listening room". The owner, Todd Barkan, a very knowledgeable music person with a long history in jazz, gets up near the beginning of each show, introduces the band and lets the audience know that it is a listening room and briefly explains the noise policy. He requests that people keep their talking to a minimum so that everyone can enjoy the music. Unfortunately, many people at Keystone do not abide by this rule. We believe that it has gotten worse over the past year. (We have been there 3 times since the spring of 2023.) Worse yet, the staff do not enforce the rule. Two weeks ago, it was beyond belief, made worse by the fact that the performers did a lot of soft vocals. They even brought up a 94 year old (I kid you not - it was sweet) woman to play piano on one song. However, we could barely hear her due to the loud banter around us. All the while, staff and manager(s) were oblivious to this as the walked back and forth. I finally approached a manager and small group of servers and asked why they were not enforcing the quiet rule. A server replied, they don't listen to us. My response, well do you think it is the patrons' responsibility? The manager's only response was "do you want to speak with Todd?" Clearly a future leader. Todd did come to our table and said that people don't listen, they are terrible in Baltimore (he has run clubs in San Francisco and NYC) and that they throw food at the servers. Again, my response was to ask whether it was the customer's job to tell people to keep quiet? Could you imagine the fights? He eventually came back to our table, handed me his card and asked me to call him to discuss this. I did the next day. He was driving and offered to call me back. He asked for my number (why we were on cell phones?). I told him that I would send him an email. I wrote a lengthy email (like this review), reminding him of the interaction and making some constructive suggestions to help the staff remind people of the noise policy. I provided him with my cell number. It has been two weeks now. After one week I sent him the email again and asked if he planned to respond. I have yet to receive a response. Why he gave me his card is a curious question. However, the lack of a response is disappointing and I feel that I should share with others the "vibe" at Keystone. If you want to hear music without people behaving like they are at a cocktail lounge or a sporting event, this is not the place for you. read more

Visited Keystone Korner a few weeks ago for my mom's birthday, to see Mariah Bonner perform. It was a wonderful venue with a delightful food and bar menu. I really appreciated that they put a big emphasis on SILENCE during the performance, so that everyone could enjoy the show. Of course, Mariah and her band were incredible, and put on a really wonderful show. We enjoyed it so much, we decided to purchase New Year's Eve tickets. I highly recommend Keystone Korner as your local jazz club, for great music, food, and drink! read more

I had a great time. Its definitely for grown folks. Saw Benny Golson. Sat at a booth. The ribs were amazing with an excellent presentation. The view was great. Its the perfect size venue. My waiter was not as attentive as I had hoped. Just average. But the food made up for it. I believe if you sit at the bar you can get in for free with an obstructive view. Would definitely go again even though I'm not a Jazz fan. Its a sexy date night for sure If over 45. read more

Nice jazz restaurant lounge. There is general seating at bar or reserve seating at tables. I was solo, so I purchase the General admission ticket. I had a good seat at the bar. The bartender (Joseph) was very nice. The food was good and the drinks are nice. It's a nice place to listen to jazz. I love jazz music and I'm happy I found out about Keystone Korner. Eat before you come!!! The music is amazing. Service is poor. Very poor. Gratuity is mandatory which makes the waitstaff not deliver good service. Andy T (our waiter) was abrupt and brash. This is an absolute gem in Baltimore! I am so thrilled that my husband and I can see this exceptional caliber of current and relevant jazz musicians in this wonderful venue! This is and excellent club for couples, groups, celebrations, families with teens. The food is top notch and reasonably priced as are the drinks. The staff are welcoming and very professional. The restaurant is exceptionally clean with a variety of seating; tables, high tops, booths. The line up of musicians is incredible and my husband and friends will be coming at least twice a month to enjoy these musicians and food again. Also the cover charge is more than fair and the neighborhood is very clean, well lit and parking is within a block, $4, clean and well lit. The crowd there was respectful of the musicians, friendly and obviously live jazz music lovers. read more

I hate to write a negative review, but hopefully these comments will be constructive. Keystone Korner is a new jazz venue in Inner Harbor East. They are booking amazing national acts and it an incredible opportunity to hear this level of artistry. The main problem is the venue. It is a very large room and they chose to set the stage in an alcove so only a small fraction of attendees can see the performance directly. The majority of patrons only experience the performance indirectly on flat screen t.v.s The level of background noise during performances is off the charts and an insult to the performers. This is a venue that jazz musicians will suffer but not enjoy. The other night I heard Kenny Burrell. He was clearly insulted by the level of distraction and noise and chose to play as his closing number "Hush Now" by Billy Holliday with a snarky comment about the venue. Owners- please reconfigure this place before you fail and close. Put the bandstand out on the floor. Right now Keystone Korner is very disappointing. read more

My wife and I went here to see Ron Carter play with his trio. Of course the music was great. The club itself, however, is a very special place. Having a warm atmosphere with a staff that places the music first (which is clearly a club philosophy for this organization) makes this an outstanding venue for jazz. I had read some of the reviews discussing mediocre service. My sense is that the folks at Keystone Korner must have read and addressed those reviews, as the service was fast, polite, and accurate when we visited. You do want to consult a seating layout before you go, as not all tables allow a view of the stage. I noticed also that the sound is a little better directly in front of the stage than it is for the tables positioned about halfway back, but the sound anywhere in the club is excellent. Food is great! Drink selection is superb! Kids are allowed too, which is nice as sometimes it can be tough to find jazz venues where kids are allowed at all. If you are near the Baltimore area and love jazz, patronize this place often! It deserves a long, prosperous tenure, and we should work to help it thrive! read more

We drove from DC to see the Loston Harris Trio w/Mark Whitfield and Paul Gill - they were each terrific and collectively fantastic. Sadly, the astounding amount of noise from other customers was hugely distracting in addition to showing an embarrassing amount of disrespect for these top-class musicians. Despite an attempt to explain the bar's noise policy, it was not enforced Saturday night. There were several times when a very young child was allowed to scream at the top of their lungs during the performance. Perhaps the multiple flat screen monitors throughout the club crate too much distance from the performers and that causes customers who cannot see the stage to behave as though they are watching music videos and not an actual live show. Keystone Korner is bringing in renowned jazz artists and it is a great location. The staff was very helpful and attentive. We will return for the Roy Haynes show in September in the hope that the noise issue is improved - but if it is not that will be our last visit. read more

I have to say I'm ecstatic about this addition of a Jazz spot in Baltimore. This place gives me slight Bethesda Blues & Jazz vibes, with far less space, of course. The jazz musicians were stellar. I brought my mom and aunt for mother's day and they enjoyed it. Bit of confusion upon arrival, as I bought tickets for the show but quickly realized that I could patronize the restaurant without buying a ticket if I didn't want to see the musicians up close and personal. Luckily, my guests wanted to see the musicians up close & personal so the tickets were not for naught. MENU: I was a bit taken aback by the menu. I expected to at least see the usual appetizers (wings, calamari, maybe a crab dip of some sort) but no. We ordered the fingerling potatoes, which were okay. Nothing special. For entrees, we ordered the grilled chicken, the baby back ribs, and the battered sea bass. Each tasted good. Beware though, the main meals don't all come with some sort of veggie and carb. My chicken didn't come with any carbs (like a mashed potato or rice) so I ordered a side of fries. The baby back ribs come with the most sides (fries, beans, and Cole slaw). Real southern. The sea bass was seasoned very well and the Brussel sprout side it comes with tasted great. All that was missing was some rice or potatoes. DRINKS: there were typical offerings. I ordered an Old Fashioned. Classic. My guests ordered a Cosmopolitan, Honeysuckle, and some kind of whiskey blend that was excellent. SERVICE: it was fine. Again, a bit of confusion. We were asked to sit at the bar to wait for the 7pm show. We ordered at the bar. After transferring to our show seats, we got a different server who brought the drinks we ordered at the bar. And then we didn't see him again until I called his attention to complain that our side order of fries hadn't arrived. I had once glass of water because, of course, our server didn't return. It's fine. I get it. It's week three or so I expect growing pains. I hope this place survives, I really do! Bringing my husband next! read more

Every thing tasted good - although it was pricey. Music was good - but too mellow for a Friday night. Crowd was very respectful - staying quiet during the performance. Our bartender was very attentive and the atmosphere was upscale but relaxed. When the jazz band started playing you couldn't help but tap along with the music. Loved every minute of being here. Came on their very first brunch, that had a pianist, who played very beautifully( his name is Johnathan Espinoza). I ordered the Breakfast Buritto, very good (request salsa if you order this. It included steak, scrambled eggs, rice, beans and other veggies. Very well made, the steak was cooked to tender, the ingredients blended well together and the salsa brought it all home. The dish came with a side of home fries, which were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, which is how i like my home fries. To top it off, I had a Mango Mimosa, which was light and refreshing. The atmosphere was nice, the staff was awesome and the location is perfect. What a great place to see a jazz performance! The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming but quiet enough to focus on the music. The food is priced a little higher than bar food, but it's not your usual bar food. The chef knows what he's doing. Last night I had the most tender beef brisket topped with melted smoked mozzarella and homemade slaw. My wife had vegan tacos with shells made from cashew flour and a cashew hummus inside. There are higher end items on the menu. Beer and wine prices were normal. read more

I loved this spot when it was formerly known as Townhouse Kitchen. I miss the asparagus crab soup the most. Later on, it was called Mussels Bar & Grille now it's Keystone Korner. I wanted some good dessert to end my night so I stopped here. As soon as I entered, it was "Do you have a ticket?" and no greeting or information. I didn't have a ticket, but was allowed to sit at the bar facing away from the show being held. It didn't matter because I just wanted dessert. The bartender was extremely nice and great customer service (hence the 1 star). I ordered the butter cake and water. It was a major let down because it didn't taste anywhere as good as it use to. Nice presentation though. I was informed you have to have tickets to patronize this establishment so I won't be returning. read more

What a wonderful experience!!!! After missing the sound of live music, we decided to venture out and see Mumu Fresh perform at Keystone Corner. The live jazz was excellent! If you're familiar with Mumu, she's multitalented in different genres of music. Last night she didn't disappoint. We arrived early and was seated promptly with a great view of the stage. Our server Corey was excellent!!!!! He provided top notch service throughout the night. The food arrived quickly fresh and hot. Everything we ordered was superb, I have no complaints! You must try the butter cake....what a treat! Yes, they add a 20% gratuity to your check but good service deserves to be properly compensated. I will definitely return!!!!! read more

Great food!! I was drawn to this place because they had a live harpist playing outside. The owner, Todd, came by and we had some great convo with him. He told us his story & his passion for jazz, which made me love this place even more. Good guy, with his heart in the right place, trying to bring Jazz & great musicians to Baltimore with great food. Last Saturday I got the chance to check out Baltimore's newest jazz club @keystonekorner in Harbor East. Special thanks to my friend "M" from NYC for getting me in for free! I was sitting in the premium section and the tickets can vary in price depending on who's paying that night. On average premium seating can cost between $25-55 plus fees and taxes. The show I went to featured Steve Turre, James Carter, Vincent Herring and few other amazing musicians. The show was terrific, and each musician got a chance to display their awe-inspiring talents. The club itself has such a nice vibe to it too, especially in the premium seating area! For food, I just tried their "Ultimate Deviled Eggs" which featured beet-pickled quail eggs, remoulade sauce, and crispy magalista pork. It's a very tasty appetizer, and I will definitely get it again when I go back next month. I also got a Moscow mule, but I wasn't impressed by the drink. Maybe the ginger beer they used was old or something, but it was pretty weak in my opinion. Next time I go back I will try some their entrees and give you guys a review of them. Nevertheless I had an amazing time and I can't wait to go back again! read more

If I could give a higher rating, I would. I went there to see Eddie Palmieri on 6/30/19 and I think I've found my new favorite intimate venue! Every aspect of my visit was outstanding from my initial encounter with the hostess (who was so pleasant and welcoming) to our waiter Joshua (who had a great sense of humor) to the food (pan-seared scollops and jumbo lump crab cake sandwich...just awesome) to the sound (crystal clear)! This is an overall nice place to enjoy a great evening. I will definitely visit again. read more

Awesome live jazz music and great food with great service! There is a cover charge of $15 or $25 depending where you chose to sit. The staff is extremely and accommodating to sit you where you like to view the band. The food is reasonably priced for this type of entertainment. The oysters on half shell was the bomb. In a city where there is a scarcity of places to hear jazz I was so excited that Keystone Korner, originally located in San Francisco, was being resurrected in Baltimore by the original owner, Todd Barkan as a jazz/restaurant space. There are two tiers of ticket pricing: general seating and premium. (Beware: if you purchase general seating tickets you will not be able to see the stage. This is a huge negative! When I go to hear jazz, I want to see the musicians as that is a huge part of the experience. Hence 4 stars rather than 5.) We went for opening night to see the Ron Carter trio and there was an electric buzz in the room! We had premium tickets and got there early enough to be seated at a table right next to the stage with one gentleman who had driven up from the Shenandoah Valley, and another who had flown in from Atlanta. We ordered dinner. I had the scallops appetizer which was very good, but a little salty. This actually would have been enough food for me, but I had also ordered the Crawford Grill Soul Chicken - tasty, but did not wow me and again too salty. Good portions and I ended up taking half of it home. My husband had the Vegan Tacos and did not care for them. The music, which of course was the main attraction was great! As jazz lovers we will definitely go back as they are bringing some heavy hitters in the jazz world! read more

I REALLY want this place to succeed! Pros: A stellar lineup of national jazz acts. Reasonable ticket prices and inducements for regular patrons. Well-prepared tasty food and libations at good prices. A capable and pleasant staff. Cons: The layout of the performance space (as others have noted) is far from optimal. My table was in front of a large pillar that obscured the stage from much of the room. The massive HVAC system, whose ductwork is fully exposed, was so loud as to detract from the performance and noise from the bar and a repeatedly slammed exit door to the left of the stage were jarring. During an intimate performance (I heard a singer, pianist and bassist - no drummer) this was particularly bad. KK's weaknesses can be easily fixed and it's strengths are formidable. I'll be returning. read more
