What a wonderful experience!!!! After missing the sound of live music, we decided to venture out and see Mumu Fresh perform at Keystone Corner. The live jazz was excellent! If you're familiar with Mumu, she's multitalented in different genres of music. Last night she didn't disappoint. We arrived early and was seated promptly with a great view of the stage. Our server Corey was excellent!!!!! He provided top notch service throughout the night. The food arrived quickly fresh and hot. Everything we ordered was superb, I have no complaints! You must try the butter cake....what a treat! Yes, they add a 20% gratuity to your check but good service deserves to be properly compensated. I will definitely return!!!!! read more

Great food!! I was drawn to this place because they had a live harpist playing outside. The owner, Todd, came by and we had some great convo with him. He told us his story & his passion for jazz, which made me love this place even more. Good guy, with his heart in the right place, trying to bring Jazz & great musicians to Baltimore with great food. Last Saturday I got the chance to check out Baltimore's newest jazz club @keystonekorner in Harbor East. Special thanks to my friend "M" from NYC for getting me in for free! I was sitting in the premium section and the tickets can vary in price depending on who's paying that night. On average premium seating can cost between $25-55 plus fees and taxes. The show I went to featured Steve Turre, James Carter, Vincent Herring and few other amazing musicians. The show was terrific, and each musician got a chance to display their awe-inspiring talents. The club itself has such a nice vibe to it too, especially in the premium seating area! For food, I just tried their "Ultimate Deviled Eggs" which featured beet-pickled quail eggs, remoulade sauce, and crispy magalista pork. It's a very tasty appetizer, and I will definitely get it again when I go back next month. I also got a Moscow mule, but I wasn't impressed by the drink. Maybe the ginger beer they used was old or something, but it was pretty weak in my opinion. Next time I go back I will try some their entrees and give you guys a review of them. If I could give a higher rating, I would. I went there to see Eddie Palmieri on 6/30/19 and I think I've found my new favorite intimate venue! Every aspect of my visit was outstanding from my initial encounter with the hostess (who was so pleasant and welcoming) to our waiter Joshua (who had a great sense of humor) to the food (pan-seared scollops and jumbo lump crab cake sandwich...just awesome) to the sound (crystal clear)! This is an overall nice place to enjoy a great evening. I will definitely visit again. read more

Awesome live jazz music and great food with great service! There is a cover charge of $15 or $25 depending where you chose to sit. The staff is extremely and accommodating to sit you where you like to view the band. The food is reasonably priced for this type of entertainment. The oysters on half shell was the bomb. I REALLY want this place to succeed! Pros: A stellar lineup of national jazz acts. Reasonable ticket prices and inducements for regular patrons. Well-prepared tasty food and libations at good prices. A capable and pleasant staff. Cons: The layout of the performance space (as others have noted) is far from optimal. My table was in front of a large pillar that obscured the stage from much of the room. The massive HVAC system, whose ductwork is fully exposed, was so loud as to detract from the performance and noise from the bar and a repeatedly slammed exit door to the left of the stage were jarring. During an intimate performance (I heard a singer, pianist and bassist - no drummer) this was particularly bad. KK's weaknesses can be easily fixed and it's strengths are formidable. In a city where there is a scarcity of places to hear jazz I was so excited that Keystone Korner, originally located in San Francisco, was being resurrected in Baltimore by the original owner, Todd Barkan as a jazz/restaurant space. There are two tiers of ticket pricing: general seating and premium. (Beware: if you purchase general seating tickets you will not be able to see the stage. This is a huge negative! When I go to hear jazz, I want to see the musicians as that is a huge part of the experience. Hence 4 stars rather than 5.) We went for opening night to see the Ron Carter trio and there was an electric buzz in the room! We had premium tickets and got there early enough to be seated at a table right next to the stage with one gentleman who had driven up from the Shenandoah Valley, and another who had flown in from Atlanta. We ordered dinner. I had the scallops appetizer which was very good, but a little salty. This actually would have been enough food for me, but I had also ordered the Crawford Grill Soul Chicken - tasty, but did not wow me and again too salty. Good portions and I ended up taking half of it home. My husband had the Vegan Tacos and did not care for them. The music, which of course was the main attraction was great! As jazz lovers we will definitely go back as they are bringing some heavy hitters in the jazz world! read more

Great club! Has an atmosphere that is both elegant and casual. The club is booking the best of Baltimore's jazz as well as national acts. Mark N. is right - the stage is not ideally located. But except when there is a big national name playing, you can usually get a table in the "premier" section for a modest price and be right in front of the stage to hear some absolutely world-class musicians from Charm City. But even if you have to sit farther away and can't see the stage, there are closed-circuit TVs showing the stage, visible from anywhere in the restaurant. The things I've tried on the menu include: a hamburger - nothing spectacular; about what you'd expect. From the starter menu, nicely browned fingerling potatoes (in the starter menu), which are served with a perfectly delicious creamy sauce -- a generous portion that is almost a meal in itself, great as a side order instead of french fries. The starter asparagus - very plentiful. The first time I had it, it was wonderful. The second time (7/11) it came with a grilled tomato (nice) -- and some sort of goopy sauce that wasn't very flavorful but drowned out the flavor of the asparagus itself. Please go back to the first recipe!! Dessert: The bread pudding, with apricots-- to DIE FOR!!! Even if you just come for drinks, be sure and get the bread pudding. Servers are very gracious and friendly. But sometimes if you come to the 9 pm show, you might have to wait a bit before they notice you and come to take your order. read more

I love the atmosphere. It intimate, relaxing and mature. And the selection of musicians who grace the stage is beyond approach.

This is a review of the jazz club only. The club is beautiful and spacious with great acoustics, good seating and excellent drinks. I attended a 10 PM show last night, with Big Chief Donald Harrison on sax and a quartet noted on the programming. To my great delight a surprise guest joined them; Sean Jones on the trumpet.I'd heard him play two weeks ago at the Jazz Standard in NY with his own quartet and he blew me away there. Last night's concert with two fabulous horn players was one of my favorite jazz performances I've heard, ever, in my 40 year history of listening to live jazz, mostly in NY. The staff at Keystone Korner were also terrific. I highly recommend this wonderful new jazz venue in Baltimore, and hope to return as often as possible! read more

Pros: 1) Lovely venue - cozy and intimate, especially nice setting for a first date or any date night 2) Great jazz - performances by up-and-coming local talent as well as nationally renown jazz musicians 3) Very reasonable ticket prices - At the Lonnie Liston Smith show (EXCELLENT SHOW), premium seats were only $35. Cheap seats were $25. 4) Friendly environment - easy to meet and chat with others attending the show Cons: 1) Wait time to get into the venue is a real issue - I went to the 7 pm show on a Sunday night and the line of people waiting to go in extended outside the building. Despite having pre-purchased tickets online, there was only one ticket taker and the movement of the line was way too slow. Luckily, the weather was good on the night I went. Inclement weather would have been disastrous. 2) The club offers a limited menu but the food is not always up to par. My corn and crab bisque was terrible, but the caesar salad was good. Others at my table complained about the short ribs but said the deviled eggs appetizer and the scallops with potatoes were good. 3) Parking can be challenging - Meters around the facility have a 2 hour time limit and are active 24x7. Valet parking appeared to be available, but on Sunday night I couldn't find/identify a person manning valet parking. Free parking on the street is limited, but might be found. Always research nearby parking lots before you leave home. Overall, the things I like about Keystone Korner outweigh the things I dislike. Keystone may be unable to help the parking issues, but I hope they do address the wait-time standing in line. I especially hope that Keystone brings their food up to par with the higher standards set by the other, more favorable aspects of the club. read more

I love the idea of a real jazz club! If this place makes it, I will be there at least once a month. I was in attendance on July 6th and the show was excellent, the talent was absolutely first rate; tremendous musicianship. There are not enough superlatives to describe the talent that was on display. However, management does need to work out some kinks, principally the quiet policy. Many of the patrons did not get that you are there for the music. They treated the venue as though they were there for dinner and the music was just part of the ambiance. The table behind me talked throughout the entire performance! Note, they were not talking about the performance but Hamilton, their children, just a regular dinner conversation! One gentleman at the table on the other side of mine was actually humming along during a piano solo. Putting aside how distracting and rude this behavior is to those of us who are there for the music, this behavior is insulting to the musicians. These patrons demonstrated how little appreciation they had for the talent that was presented and music that was played. There are signs on each table documenting the quiet policy. For some reason, these people did not seem to think that it applied to them. Management may want to consider providing less table service during the actual performance. The miscellaneous noises during the performance are distracting and I suspect that they annoy the musicians as well. read more

Whoa! What an incredible experience! Based on several local news article, my wife and I decided to check out Keystone Korner as a new idea for date night. It was awesome! It was affordable! The live music was INCREDIBLE (we saw the Johnny O'Neal Trio the night we went) and the crowd was so much fun. It was more interactive than a movie, but not so loud or crowded as a rock show. If you get premium seats, you can really see what makes the musicians so special; fingers dancing on the keys, reacting to the audience, and oh what a show! If you choose to sit further away from the stage the music becomes a back drop in the coolest of cool bars. The food is unfussy but solid and excellently prepared. The drinks are mild variations on classic cocktails. Everything serves as a foundation for the music and a really cool bar and setting. It's a PERFECT date place. Love it love it love it. We'll go back often and we already discussed it'll be our new favorite place to take out-of-town guests to show off our great city. I don't write reviews often, but I feel compelled to help this great and unique business succeed. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this new addition to the harbor. I am in love with live music and have been so sad that music isn't what it used to be, especially in the DMV. I was able to check this place out on homecoming weekend and I was not disappointed. They had a tribute to Stevie Wonder and the band that perform didn't disappoint. The space is large and inviting, the service is friendly, and the food looked good although I didn't have a chance to taste. the drinks were definitely also on point. We decided to purchase the premier tickets which are only five dollars more than the general seating tickets in allows you to set a lot closer to the stage which I thought was great. I was really excited about visiting Keystone. The entertainment lineup on their website was always so exciting and the menu looked great. I will start with the entertainment. It was awesome. Marc Staggers was amazing. His sound is that of Luther Vandross, Jeffrey Osborne and Will Downing. I highly recommend him, you will not be disappointed!! However, the noise was so loud sometimes it was a strain to hear him. And the seating near the stage is extremely limited. The location of the stage prevents a large portion of people that are spending money for tickets from being able to see it. So beware, you may be paying just to hear and not to see. The food was just ok to me. Maybe it was just what I ordered, the crab cake sandwich which came with old bay fries. The crab cake was EXTREMELY soft and messy. I gave up trying to eat it as a sandwich and used my hands because it kept falling apart. It was just too wet and sloppy for me. And I could barely taste the crab in it. My biggest complaint is the ridiculously overpriced drinks! $15 for 1/3 of a glass of Merlot is insane! I know it seems like I don't like this place, but I really do. I think the concept is wonderful, and it really has the potential to be a great entertainment venue. But they are still fairly new and have some work to do. I would go back, but I will wait a few months and follow the reviews. read more

We live in the neighborhood and had a decent experience prior to tonight. We walked in, bought tickets, and the host sat us at two seats at the bar. We were then approached by a staff member named Gregory who proceeded to interrogate us by asking how we were sat here and who told us to sit in these seats. (Apparently there was a double seating mistake made by the host) his hostile manor made us very uncomfortable and somewhat embarrassed considering we were just told to sit in these seats by the host. We asked to speak with the manager and all he did was comp our $60 bottle of wine and say "I'm sorry he used to be a correctional officer". We decided to stay and have dinner only because of the bartender Martin. He was extremely professional and hospitable. He expressed a continuous concern for our overall experience and the establishment. please if you'd like to enjoy jazz here, do not go anywhere near Gregory as he can immediately ruin your night and will racially profile you at any given moment. read more

Show started at 7:30p,Website said to get there early, I arrived at 6, they didn't let us in until 7:45p, So if you arrive early wear flat shoes, your feet will thank you! Server named Katrina, gets mad & storms off bc I wasn't ready to order, waiting outside all that long time I lost my appetite, after my drink arrives, they sit 2 strangers at my table as if the table was not small enough, I said good thing I'm fully vaccinated bc this place cares nothing about Covid, I also didn't read anywhere on the website about shared seating, another server dropped a champagne bottle & it splattered all over my new boots, glass & all, instead of him apologizing he said "don't worry it's only water!" No. How about checking to see if a piece of glass was logged in my ankle, not to mention new bday suede boots ruined. The stranger who sat at my table appetizers & main course came out before any of my food and we ordered the same thing. 10/14/2019 I went to see the 7PM Justin Taylor Quintet with a close friend at Keystone Korner Baltimore. Worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Had to asked the server to please bring the soft drink that was ordered. Went to ask the server for a straw and was given a short dissertation about trying to save the planet. Had to go find someone to get condiments for my food. The appetizer came out after the main course, which made the main course cold when I ate it. Had to go fine someone to get the check. At no time did anyone ever stop to check on my table throughout the whole evening. Then was given a check with the 18% added in. I paid something but not 18%. A good tip. Give better service. It over shadowed a good jazz performance. I didn't want to give any stars. I had to give one just to post this. K Mack. read more

I have absolutely enjoyed the artists/performances every time I've been. Thank you for bringing this caliber of talent and entertainment to downtown Baltimore. Regretfully, I have also been absolutely disappointed with the service every time I have come. First was the five roasted oysters I received after specifically asking how many came with the order and the server responding "six." She did get another one after my bringing it to her attention. On my second visit, I again asked how many roasted oysters come in an order (yes, I love roasted oysters) and the bartender/server responded initially with "it depends," followed by, "I don't know." I stared in disbelief as he just stood there waiting to take my order, until I asked him to find out, for sure. The next time, I took a friend for her birthday. We got there early and snagged two great seats at the bar, only to be told that those seats were reserved. We moved down, only to be told that our new seats were now considered "premium" bar seats. I informed them that I had just looked at their website earlier that day and there was nothing about reserving seats at the bar or about there being an upcharge for the really nice seats at the bar. They let us stay! This past weekend, seated at a table, the guy next to me ordered the roasted oysters (they are really good at KK, by the way) and got six. BUT, in addition to the inordinate amount of time it took to get our food (we actually thought that they had forgotten to put the order in), I only got four oysters! What! I'm sitting right next to the guy who got six. Crazy, man. Soooo, I guess the server who told me "it depends," was kinda right. I'm looking forward to Keystone Korner being a total entertainment experience. I think its well on the way...just pay attention to the details. read more
