Okay. Because I am a masochist, and a big guy who likes KFC Buffets, I decided to give this another chance. Well, my first review was on spot. The selection is meager. Of the 8 feet of buffet space half is dedicated to salad (factor in half of that is various types of dressings, and 2 large containers of Chocolate and Butterscotch pudding, there isn't much room for any real salad toppings.) The other half is where the "Good Stuff" is. You have 4 types of chicken; regular, extra crispy, grilled and barbecue. There was also Mashed Potatoes, gravies, baked beans and Mac&Cheese. All were.... Edible. The BBQ Chicken was kinda gross in the fact that it looked like a giant blob of red goo with chicken pieces suspended in it. The grilled and Regular chicken were both adequate. Nothing great, they just seemed off. There was an Apple dessert that had crumbled biscuit over it. I almost choked to death because of how dry and hard those pieces were. The place WAS cleaner this time, and the employees were nicer, but still no darn biscuits on the Buffet. There are 3 things a KFC Buffet should have. Original Recipe Chicken, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy and Biscuits!

Biscuits put ins the same bucket as our Nashville Hot chicken.

This KFC is a lot closer to us than Altoona. The staff is always nice, the chicken good, always fresh tasting.

So we went out of our way to visit Mount Union to get some Bricktown Kickn' Chicken takeout. We had to try their huge chicken pies, and we also got some fresh fried chicken and potato wedges. I'm a big pot pie fan, and this one did not disappoint! It fed three of us and we still had half as leftovers! We got out pot pie frozen, so if you do so, give it plenty of time to thaw in advance, then bake it as instructed. It is so thick, you'll need a good thermometer to make sure it cooked all the way through. But the seasoning was great, and the crust is so hearty on top and bottom! The fried chicken was so fresh with really good seasoning. So much better than what you get at the chain restaurants! We had to park around the block, but they also have takeout window so you can just pull up to pick up your order. Also, there is no dining in, just take out. Give this place a try if you're in Mount Union. Or do what I did and go out of your way to visit and pick up some fantastic homemade comfort food while supporting a small business! It's worth it!

Oh well, we ordered the 12 pc and large fries. Chicken was average, I've had better and I've had worse. But the Fries were disgusting, they were soggy just barely warm and disgusting! When they brought them out front and put them in a warmer while we waited for our chicken to cook maybe 3-4 minutes after we placed our order. No ketchup, no napkins, no salt or pepper no nothing in the bag. What a way to run a take out business! Next time I'm passing thru the area I know where I won't be stopping at!

If you haven't been before, the vibe at Raising Cains is fun - think disco balls and Elvis art with a crown on top. The counter folks were all friendly, and I wasn't expecting that they would deliver food to our table, but they did. The food at Raising Cains was good, but didn't live up to all the hype for me. No complaints about the food, it was good. But my expectations were fairly high after hearing lots of folks talk about it. The chicken was crispy and not greasy as fried food can be. The fries were good -not soggy and not overcooked. I'm still assessing my thoughts about the sauce. I didn't feel like I was overwhelmed by the taste, but I did keep going back to it and dipping my fries and chicken in it until it was all gone. So maybe I liked it more than I realized? I'd give it a solid 3.5 stars. This was a 35 minute drive for me, so I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to do this again because of the distance. But we had a good meal here and a pleasant experience.
