It did exactly what Canes is supposed to do. Staff greeted me with a smile at the pay window and the pickup window (points for consistency), the grounds outside were clean, and the location is super convenient--right near North Memorial Hospital and shopping centers. All in all: good service, good food, hot chicken (very hot ), and a smooth, easy experience. Sometimes that's all you need.

I decided to pick up lunch for my dad during my lunch hour and wanted something quick so I opened the CFA app and ordered 2 salads to be picked up through the drive thru. I was a little worried when I arrived because the parking lot was packed as was the drive thru. I pulled into the pick up line and was happy to see only one car ahead of me (Unlike the line of people waiting that were ordering at the window). In just moments, the car in front of me was served and I was now the next car that had preordered. I had my window down and was listening as the man running the drive thru was greeting each person by their first name and used their name at least twice as he gave them their food, asked if they had everything they needed, and wished them a great rest of their day as he thanked them for coming by. Each interaction sounded genuine as he made eye contact and made it feel like you were in his driveway and he was serving you something he personally made just for you. He worked quickly and was getting the customers through the line at record speed but not by sacrificing service. He made each person feel seen. My food came out quickly and I was almost disappointed as I had been so amazed watching how expertly he handled each interaction. My salad was great and my dad also enjoyed his. I went back to the office inspired by the guy in the drive thru and consciously thought about how I was interacting with people. Do I just rush through the work or do people know they matter?
