The receptionist told me she would let me know if there was a sooner opening, and usually I feel like they just say that and never get back to you. But! I got a text a couple days later asking if I was available for a closer date, which worked out well for me. As anxious as I was about getting teeth removed, Dr. Kat made me feel comfortable and ensured I was numb every step of the way. Everything went smoothly, I didn't feel a thing. Even got to keep my teeth as a souvenir lol. I can't recommend them enough :)

Our friend visiting from out of state had a bad toothache and we were worried it was an infection…read more Upon the recommendation of our friend Echo, one of the staff here, we called Dr Lai's office and the receptionist Shirley got us in for an emergency check at 8:30am the very next morning! When we came the next morning, Shirley was super nice and helpful and got our paperwork all taken care of. Then Dr Lai did a checkup and a round of x-rays. He confirmed it was an abscess tooth and offered to drain it to relieve the pain. Then he gave us an antibiotic prescription to have the infection treated asap and gave a referral to a specialist nearby to do a root canal. He also sent a thorough email diagnosis with the X-rays to my friend's email and a copy to his own dentist. So professional and thorough! And since my friend's insurance wasn't going to cover this and we had to pay ourselves, they gave us a special discount which was very reasonable for all the work Dr Lai did! We loved this whole experience and I'm even switching my dentist to Dr Lai now!

I said i wanted to wait on the X-Rays..she said they were manadatory. And she was snotty.. Then i said I'd pass on the cleaning. She seemed to care less. After submitting a formal complaint to the DMHC (Department of Managed Health Care), they investigated and ruled in my favor. I am now receiving a refund of $2,060. Whenever I previously questioned the billing department about these charges, I was just given the runaround. I was even informed that if this office continues to overcharge patients, they risk being kicked out of the HMO network. They are really good at INVENTING overcharges. I am leaving two stars instead of one only because the female dentist here is truly nice. Unethical billing and patient payment practices…read more They do not disclose, despite requiring you review a LOT of paperwork before your appointment, that they charge a 3% rate on all card transactions until AFTER your appointment. The only sign about this is on the counter behind the door you go through to see the dentist so there is no way to see it before your appt. They'll accept cash, but they don't carry change. I won't be returning to be overcharged, especially in such duplicitous ways. Edit: The dentist and business owner has responded and clarified some things. I'm glad to hear they will be making it clear to patients before they enter for their appts that they will be charged an extra 3% for credit cards. Honestly, because we are charged a deposit for our appointment (I had to give a credit card over the phone when I called to make my first appointment) I hope this is made clear when a patient first makes an appointment or gives over cc information. While this practice may be common at small businesses it is not common at many medical offices. Also, when it was communicated to me at the desk I was told it was for all card transactions (including debit cards) when I attempted to pay for my services, which is why it felt particularly unethical. Not carrying change apparently means the extra is credited to your account. This was also never communicated to me when I expressed frustration with these policies only being shared with me after services already rendered while I was attempting to pay. I appreciate the owner receiving this feedback, but am nonetheless confused why I received such differing information at the desk than is being communicated here.

I have a very pronounced phobia of needles…read moreand so the process was bound to be very traumatic as it required several anesthetic shots in my gums. Dr. K knew this and so he took extra care to make sure I was as comfortable as possible; we talked about the procedure and he was communicative and checked in with me a lot. He told me several stories of his time in Vermont to try and relax+distract me. I have never had such an attentive doctor. As far as super unpleasant dental procedures go, this one was as bearable as possible. I am super grateful for his willingness to put in the extra work to make dental procedures much less scary. In follow-up fillings and similar procedures, he has handed me a mirror so I could have the option to see what was going on, if I wanted, and also always tried to do it without anesthetic shots when possible. In terms of dental hygienist, Mai is great. I like that she is a pleasant conversationalist but also very straight to the point. She lets me pick what toothbrush color I want :)
