I am leaving another review - different site--of owner Nicole- whose poor manners and poor service are the topic. As another (past client) stated in her review- poor haircut- not layered well. Paid extra for an 'In depth' consultation- which I did not receive. I have never had someone so rough in simply brushing my hair and later blow drying, along with being so sullen in interactions. When the owner of a salon treats you, as a new client ( or any time period client) in such a derogatory manner- while I remained pleasant and polite- which was not easy - it leaves such a negative impression- honestly one that I have never had from any hair salon I have been to. I moved recently from ATL (40 yr resident ) and never had to pay a deposit- and certainly never had such rude treatment. She didn't tell me what products she used or recommended, she didn't even give me a mirror to look at the back and sides of my new cut. I was then charged extra at checkout for long hair- when that was not presented up front and my hair is barely to the shoulders --NOT long, or thick or difficult. No receipt was provided either. I rightfully disputed this service with my credit card - after the service charge processed- - to then be awakened this morning at 7:24am by 7 phone calls in rapid succession & VM from Nicole- this is beyond comprehension. If you were really interested in understanding my salon experience - you would have called during your ( and my) normal business hours and at 'one' - unanswered phone call- left a professional courteous VM- read more

Really enjoy this salon, especially my stylist, Christie! I'm not able to comment on color service but have had a great experience with getting a layered cut and style. Christie's prices are very reasonable and I feel like she really listens to my hair concerns and questions! Do NOT recommend. Left this salon with unblended layers and a bad shape. I went back in and paid to have them fixed, but this only made it more pronounced. They have a great website, that I now feel is false advertising. I cannot speak for the other stylist there, but I would not book with Nicole if you're looking for a blended cut and hair color gloss. I'm overly excited to find these two amazing ladies. I've never been one to do a lot to my hair. I got it cut about once a year and did a few at home highlights. Well that was until now. I never loved my hair so much. I got the best cute and style from Nicole. The layers are perfection. About a month later I went back and got my balayage done by Christie....AMAZING!!!! Recently around 2015, Creative Layers move next door from where they originally located. They were inside Lenox Salons so now they located in a bigger, more airy location. Yet Nicole'a services is still impeccable!! I always need a quick shave from her and my son gets his cuts.. And as usual, I'm horrible with planning ahead. I would text her literally last min. But it was never a problem with getting in.. She works with my schedule and bam! I get a text for the confirm appt!Done. I must admit. I do love the new layout at the current salon.. She now can display more varieties of paintings and a larger shelf for retail products! Parking can be sucky depending the timing of the day but her services won't disappoint! read more

While Christmas shopping at the South Park Ann Tailor store I noticed a pretty red head store consultant with a great cut. That lead to a last minute hair cut appointment with Nichole. Since moving two yrs ago to Charlotte from TN I've been unlucky to find a stylist to give me long layers cut that allowed to look good with a minimum styling effort in the evening and during the day. I was very disappointed with my experience. Nicole seems talented and knowledgeable, however I paid almost $300 + tip and essentially just got a toner. I came in for balayage and did not receive the look we discussed. For reference, the top row of the attached pics are my before and after, and the bottom row are the goal pics I showed her that we were going off of. Prior to leaving the salon I expressed some concerns and she assured me it would lighten and become more visible. She even said to text her in a few days if I had any concerns, so I felt confident leaving the salon even though I wasn't satisfied. Well a few days later I texted her and explained that while I loved the color of the toner she had put on, I couldn't really see the balayage I had gotten from her. Aside from the bottom half where the old balayage was, there wasn't any noticeable color on the top half of my hair. She insisted I pay full price for a new service to add color to the top of my hair and after a few back and forth text messages she eventually just stopped responding. If she wouldn't have been able to achieve the look I showed her with the balayage I requested, isn't it her job as a stylist to tell me that before providing the service? Instead of scamming me by saying you can do it and then insisting I pay more to get the results. Additionally, the second goal pic is from a local salon. I didn't go to that stylist because she had a three month waiting list and Nicole was free immediately but I spoke with her and confirmed only balayage was done on the model in that picture. I guess lesson learned, stylists have wait lists for a reason and it's worth the wait to get what you want. It was just overall a very disappointing experience for the amount of money I spent. I don't mind spending the money if I am getting what I am paying for but I had to go to someone else and pay another $300 to achieve the look I was going for the first time. read more

I would NOT recommend this salon. I went in with a picture of myself from my last cut and color at another salon and I asked for the same. (I'm here out of town) I understand that color can be a little different stylist to stylist but this wasn't even in the same ballpark. I wanted a cool trendy look and wound up with a very ashy, outdated blonde with PINK highlights. I get highlights to blend gray and I left looking like I have more gray that I went in with! She put in a toner to correct the error and then offered for more color correction, but at that point I didn't want to add any more mistakes and did not feel comfortable with her level of expertise to do what I went in for in the first place. She knew I was very upset and unhappy and still charged me FULL PRICE!! I was shocked. I paid for a look that was totally wrong and nothing that I asked for and now I have to go for corrective coloring elsewhere. I asked if she'd do anything and she gave me $40 off for the toner. She is the owner and should have done better to make it right as far as final payment went. This is not the place to go to if you're looking for trendy hairstyling. Haircut is fine, although I specially went in showing her that I don't like my hair looking blown under like a rounded bob, but wanted textured like the photo. She literally styled it in a outdated, bowl shaped bob. I'm not sure if she didn't take the time to listen or if she just has a limited ability when it comes to hip cuts/coloring. She argued with me and stood firm on having me pay $210 insisting that all she would do is try again. I would have said yes if I felt she understood what I wanted but she clearly didn't and I didn't want to mess with it anymore. read more

I honestly don't understand how people could give Nicole 1 star - did she accidentally cut your or something? I've been going to her consistently for nearly 3 years. Not only is she amazing to talk to and a genuinely kind and creative person, but she's a true professional at what she does - keep in mind I can only judge for men's cuts of traditional length hair. Before I came across her studio, I was going to SportsClips, paying the same amount for a significantly inferior cut. I love going to her studio because she's always prompt with appointment times, offers a beverage of choice (alcoholic options for those of age), and the environment is clean and inviting with the walls covered in her personal paintings. The straight razor shave is also pretty unique - the first time I was a bit nervous since I had never experienced it before, but like I said, she's a pro. She styles based on your individual hair characteristics and preferences and keeps meticulous style notes. She works hard, very hard, and has built her business from the ground up. Set up a haircut, the same week that I contacted Creative Layers, with Cassie. They are currently offering a Groupon deal for a wash, cut and style ($70 value) for $31. When I arrived, Cassie was ready for me and talked me through the style. I'm pretty terrible when it comes to knowing what I want {indecisive by nature}, but she was up on current trends, gave me tips with what would look good and was able to guide me in the perfect directly. The wash, cut and blow-out took about 90 minutes, Cassie was meticulous and repeated what we had agreed upon several times before cutting. She offered me water/soda during the cut as well, checked what water temperature I preferred and used the Moroccan hair products they sell there. I love my haircut, couldn't have been happier with the service and would definitely recommend Cassie. I opted out of the style after the blowout because she did such a great job already and I was already pleased. She left everything a little longer initially to make sure I was set on going shorter (with bangs and layers), which I appreciated. I had an amazing experience last week at Creative Layers. I received a haircut with Balayage from Nicole. She is highly educated in her craft & knows what she is doing. True artist. When I first came in I didn't have a clue in what I wanted, but she asked me a lot of questions about my hair & afterwards I knew what I wanted. I get my haircut by Cassie and they are always great haircuts. She is quite skilled in any type of haircut that you want, whether it is an all scissor cut, or with trimmers. I've never had any complaints about my haircuts, she is very good with consultation and understanding what I want. She is also knowledgeable about what products to use as well.
