I hadnt been to this place in a little while and decided to go back. It looked different to me on the inside however everyone was so inviting. I was asked if was picking up which I wasnt. I didnt catch the young lady's name who helped me but she was amazing. I asked her recommendations on everything. She was super sweet. I ordered the Australian lamb chops with fries and chatpatay wings. The wings are spicy so if thats not your thing, do not get them. I will definitely be back.
Medium sized venue in a strip mall area, so plenty of free parking. You can order at the kiosk or with the staff. Fast & friendly service, happy to answer any menu or cultural questions you may have. They also do have a prayer area on site. The space has a nice clean & modern look with darker tones & green accents, so it's oddly relaxing. They have an area with complimentary water, Yemonade (not a typo), & Masala fries. I didn't try the fries from there, cause while they do have tongs, I saw someone just pick some up by hand. I had the Smash burger, New Zealand lamb chops, & [ordered] Masala Fries (seasoned fries). All were very good and enjoyable. I would definitely come back. Hope you like it hot. I needed a quick bite for lunch while working in the area and came across Khokha. The burger place with a Pakistani flavor profile intrigued me way too much to pass it up. I got the Crispy Chicken Burger at the recommendation of the staff, calling it their House Special. They asked my spice preference, and knowing this would likely skew spicy, I opted low. This was the correct decision. Even on low spice levels, the spice is apparent. It was flavorful and a good amount of heat without the heat drowning out the profile of the burger. The burger itself was crispy as advertised and what you would expect from a quick bite burger. The sauce and spice is what carries it. I also got the burger with a side of Masala fries. These also have a good amount of kick to them and we're actually spicier than the burger. I did enjoy them quite a lot though. Washing it down with a Mango Lemonade, which was sweet and refreshing. If you enjoy heat and burgers, Khokha is a great change of pace.
Everything is so so so good and made fresh to order. Nice eating area inside and very clean. Definitely recommend the chicken sandwich and loaded fries.
Our second time. This time, I want to taste again how good this place is. I brought my eldest this time coz she is another foodie. This place didn't disappoint. The place is cute and clean. The food: The wagyu beef patty is good. My husband ordered the pulled beef in homemade paratha and it is so delicious and really spicy. I ordered the Australian lamb and once again I'm in love with it. Lastly, we each have those delicious drinks that are hard to say but gets into your brain as it is so milky and delicious. Like the Falooda kulfi with rose, pistachio, basil seeds, tapioca and noodles which is every bit worthy to drive all the way from VA. Thanks for the great experience Khokha. And thanks Nydia for making the magic happen.
Open airy dining hall bright and colorful ambiance Tasty fresh food & quick service This spot checks off all boxes for me . Fluffy fried poori , mild yet flavorful chick peas curry and a lightly sweetened halwa was a hit pair . The fried chicken wrap with a mild Khoka sauce was an explosion in my mouth . I couldn't resist this wrap . It was the marriage of a great crispy fried chicken with a delicious sauce all wrapped up in a paratha bread . A great fast food option the area to try . There is something for everyone. You have chicken, Beef and Egg as protein options , served as a Burger Paratha wrap , sandwich. Wings , Bowl or platter and Poori plate .
I came to Khokha several times before I began writing reviews and would have given them a 5/5....however service today was beyond poor. First is the obvious excuse they gave for making us wait 45 minutes for their chicken paratha roll. No problem if it was backed up but 10-15 people after my friend who ordered got all sorts of orders delivered to them....some had the chicken paratha roll too. They just gave the excuse without checking the back "they are making the order" how would they know if you didn't ask the back or check the receipts anywhere?? Blatant lie. Turns out they might have forgotten her order and couldn't find our table. Another issue is how they cut the cheese melt. Who cuts it the LONG way? I was embarrassed I recommended this to my friends. Final issue is that their spice levels have changed entirely. Before a three would be intense but I had the four and it was extremely weak... The spice Khokha provided when they first opened made them stand out. I hope they bring it back. The place does have great food, it's amazing. Despite all the problems. The food is King. Spice is something they can bring back but the flavors are authentic and flavorful. No where else will you get the flavors but an establishment needs to have standards of service in other departments.
This was my first time trying Khokha. Khokha is a Pakistani American street style food restaurant and it is zabiha halal. When you first enter the restaurant you can either order at the counter or at the kiosk. I placed my order at the kiosk and took a number and once my food was ready it was brought to my table. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Burger which came with pickles, coleslaw, and their signature sauce. I also got to try a bite of their Wagyu Burger which came with chimichurri, jalapeño aioi and romaine lettuce. Both were super good and super messy. I don't know about ya'll but something about a messy burger hits the spot for me. I also ordered some loaded fries to share. The loaded fries I got this time around was the loaded fries jalapeño smash. All I can say is I definitely threw down. Overall, it was easy to order. The food came out at a reasonable time. My food was nice and hot. The overall appearance of the inside of the restaurant was clean. The only area in the restaurant that needed a little more attention was the restrooms.
Ordered the smash burger, husband got the chicken sandwich, we shared the Halwa Puri and a small masala fries! All for takeout. Hey! I was hungry haha. It was delicious! The burger was a bit on the saltier side but I would say the star is the Halwa Puri, comes with three dips and 2 of which are a bit spicer and the 3rd one is sweet. The puri was nice and crunchy. I loved the flavor. Great quick service. They have a well run operation of someone at the front, someone to check the orders coming out from the kitchen before they go to the tables or for to go, and the kitchen staff. It's chill, can get kinda crowded. We've been here once before and couldn't find a table but were able to sit at the small bar by the register. Very friendly.
Definitely a place worth trying! It was so clean and simple inside. Plenty of tables for anyone who comes and eats in. I do wish they had smaller menus by the register to look at while ordering instead of the one big screen to the side. It was cool to see the big screens though with the food they serve. I got the crispy chicken loaded fries hold their special sauce. I enjoyed my dish but did wish the fries were a bit crispier. Towards the end, the fries did get soggy with all the cheese and chutney sauce sitting on them. It did have a nice kick to them still without the special sauce. My two other friends enjoyed their meals as well. For their special sauce you can change the spice level. My friend got the medium level and thought that was very spicy so beware.
I typically breakdown each food item I get but will skip this time around because EVERYTHING was fantastic! I was so impressed! The wings, the pulled beef, the chicken sandwhich, the beef burger, the fries- everything was so scrumptious! Chai was perfect. You can also get a slider for smaller portions or a burger for a standard portion. Prices are cheap! Combo options are awesome for those who can't decide. The service was great, they let us bring in a birthday cake for post dinner. The food came out relatively fast! It's a super clean restaurant with cool art work in frames on the wall. Wish I lived closer, I'd definitely come more often. If I am in the area, I'll swing by again. Amazing!

Convenient location with great food. We ordered the pulled beef burger, a impossible roti wrap and chai. I did not try the wrap ( it was someone else who did not want to share ) but the pulled beef burger was good. The bun was slightly toasted and the pulled beef was nicely seasoned. I thoroughly enjoyed the chai as well. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I loved how the restaurant was set up with their cool artwork on the walls. I would come back and try other things when in the area again. read more

I was already looking forward to eating here, but actually having tried it blew my expectations out of the water. A couple friends of mine and I came here after hiking for food and we all collectively agreed the meal was an 11/10. The food was spicy, juicy, colorful, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We tried the 1) classic chicken burger (thick, juicy, and had this spicy orange sauce) 2) the classic burger (thick cut of meat with a chutney and orange sauce) 3) pulled beef paratha roll (similar taste to pulled pork if not better, amazingly flavorful 4) pulled beef big cheese sandwich (similar to a grilled cheese with that wonderful pulled beef inside) 5) new zealand lambs (didnt try it myself but my friends said it was bangin ) 6) masala fries (pakistani seasoned fries with a good crisp) My favorite thing was the pulled beef, 100% did not expect it to be so good. I have been meaning to try Khoka for a while after hearing good things from many friends, so my boyfriend and I finally tried it on a Sunday night! The place was pretty filled, but there are plenty of seats and we ended up sitting at the counter. It is a trendy and casual Pakistani restaurant where you order at the counter, pick up a number, and the food is brought out to you. We got the australian lamb chops, crispy chicken paratha roll, big cheese chicken, chocolate shake, and vanilla shake. The food came out pretty quickly and smelled amazing. The lamb chops were surprisingly really good and it was my first experience eating lamb outside of hot pot. Even though it was cooked well done, the meat was tender and very well seasoned. As a lover of grilled cheese, the big cheese chicken was also delicious and I loved the crispy chicken inside of the grilled cheese along with the khoka sauce (naked due to my low spice tolerance). The paratha was interestingly rolled up with the fried chicken which was a fun concept and had a good amount of spice (the khoka sauce was mild). The milkshakes were your typical milkshake and the staff consistently made sure that we didn't need anything and that we were alright. Khoka exceeded my expectations and I had an amazing time here. Khokha lives up to the hype. I've had it a few times at home, I was underwhelmed. You gotta eat it FRESH in the restaurant. Plus, you'll get to enjoy the understated but tasteful and spunky decoration. The staff are all kind and laid back. Your food will come fast, hot and delicious. Ranking of Entrees Tried: 1. "Pulled Beef Loaded Fries": get ready for an incredible rush of flavors. That green chutney is the perfect touch for the saucy, sweet and hearty mix of potatoes and meat. 2. "Crispy Chicken Burger": not too greasy, freshly prepared, toppings are impeccable. Best halal fried chicken spot in Jersey hands down 3. "Anda Shami": honestly equally as delicious as the chicken burger, with a tangy punch of flavors. 4. "Smokin Wings": texture is amazing, but tastes like you're licking a campfire. Not a fan. We tried a little bit of everything at khokha today and it was all delicious, and the best part was the service that was super quick and on point. Lamb chops, hot chicken burger, grilled cheese and burger, chai and kulfi - all top notch! Highly recommended! read more

We went to Khokha for the first time today. As the first time walking in, cashier/order taker doesn't explain anything. Either menu or other ways to order. We were bit of lost. We did find afterwards that you can order on the table and be served at the table although you need to go pick your own cutlery and napkins etc. Restaurant is clean and spacious. And at 6 pm on Sunday, we were the only one. Spicy wings were a dud unless you like sweet wings. Ugh. Cheese sandwich was actually good. Fries with crispy chicken is ok as well. Mint margarita was, well, strange. Overall، I don't think we will drive 45 minutes for the food. But if we are in the area we may drop by. They do serve halwa puri at 6 pm which is a differentiator, but wish the order taker had somehow either showed us the menu or explained. read more

Stopped by to try to the latest new halal joint because I'm a huge fan of spicy chicken sandwiches. This place was pretty packed for a weekday, I stopped by on Thursday after work and there were lots of people. You can order at the counter and then a waiter will bring the food out to you. Servers and counter people are also very friendly This sandwich definitely passed the mark, I got the HOT and it definitely had my mouth tingling but it had flavor and tasted good. My favorite was the loaded fries! It was almost like a chaat but with French fries, it has a mint chutney and Tamarind chutney making for such an interesting mix of flavors, I loved it! read more

SO. GOOD. A perfect indo-western treat for your tastebuds. I literally crave the mint mocktail almost everyday. I cannot pick my fave between the loaded fries, sandwich, and grilled cheese -- they are ALL SO GOOD!! I usually stick to mild for the spice levels, medium on days I'm feeling up for the challenge so definitely think twice when choosing yours. The inside is very spacious and great place to visit with friends, especially because it's right off campus. And the workers there are really nice too and never make fun of me for picking mild All in all, khokha is definitely one of my favorite piscataway eats read more

Ambience was industrial chic with tables lined up. You can smell the aroma of the spices heavily wafting and permeating the room. Menu board behind the cashier. A little difficult to read for people with visual acuity issues like me so I have to squint. The cashier was friendly and helpful. The hamburger was done to perfection as ordered. It has a nice kick to it. He explained that the heat is Pakistani/ Indian Scoville scale for heat (lol). Very much appreciated information. It has a very nuanced taste from the chutney house sauce and other condiments - delicious! The Masala fries were well seasoned not heavy on the Masala (I would not have minded if it was). It is the type of fries that you have to eat right on the spot and NOT take them home or it will get totally soggy and limp. The Mango ice tea was ok, not very strong on the mango taste and too sweet for my taste. It is still better than soda. Given the chance, I will be coming back. read more

One of the best chicken sandwiches and lamb chops that I've had. Delicious variety of American Paskistani fusion. Many choices of food from Burgers to chicken , lamb chops and Paratha Rolls, milkshakes and drinks. The chicken sandwich(chicken burger) was amazingly crispy and juicy , with fresh crunchy coleslaw , pickles and khoka sauce. The classic burger was a huge 1/2lb grass fed beef patty , khoka sauce , mint chutney , Khoka chutney , grilled tomato and carmalized onions and was cooked perfectly as I asked (medium rare). I tried a chicken Paratha roll which was the same as the chicken sandwich rolled up in a wrap and just as delicious. Lamb chops were absolutely cooked perfectly and seasoned just right and so tender. French fries were crispy , milk shakes and malt drinks were just as delicious as everything else. Fast friendly service. I would 100% go back for more menu items like the loaded fries and a grilled cheese. read more

I had been meaning to come to Khokha for quite some time when I had gotten a pamphlet from them that seemed amazing. I finally got the opportunity to visit and I'm sad that I haven't gone earlier. I was totally blown away with everything they had there. My parents don't usually like to eat out, but I was able to bring them along this time and the first thing that struck them was the decor. Across the restaurant, there were memes written in Urdu and framed. My parents kept laughing at them and I was glad to see them enjoying themselves. It was great to see that there was a sense of home that was piqued within them by being here. At the same time, I loved the lighting and ambiance provided by the darker colors. It seems like the owners did a great job of mediating a sense of culture/tradition with a stylish sense of modernity. I also knew this was going to be a treat of a restaurant once I saw what a constant influx of people there was. But, moving into the food, which was the star of the show, I would say that they really got everything right. I loved seeing the menu right off the bat because it was filled with few dishes that they perfected and that was evidenced by how tough of a time everyone in my family had with making a decision . Everything looked amazing, but I finally decided on the lamb chops and chicken loaded fries. The lamb chops were so good that I was considering ordering more right then and there. They were perfectly cooked and had such a pleasant flavor to them. It was definitely an amalgam of good cooking, seasoning, and meat quality. As for the loaded fries, they were easily the best loaded fries I've ever had. What an interesting assortment of flavors present in it. I loved the mix of the sauces, the crispy chicken, jalapenos, and all. Once I started eating them, I went until I was totally finished. With other loaded fries, I've felt that I get bored of what's there after I'm half way through, but Khokha's variation had me coming back eagerly after each bite. I just always love to see flavors from different countries mixing together and making something special like this. Altogether, Khokha is an absolute must try. There's flavors here that I haven't seen elsewhere and they've really perfected their menu. No matter what you get, you'll enjoy it thoroughly. I know I'll definitely be coming back soon! read more

This looks place is a jewel in the ruff. The service was ok but not the greatest. The food on the other hand was absolutely fantastic. The lamb chops were incredible and the masala fries were spectacular. The pulled beef burger was insanely good. The grilled cheese with chicken was so damn good I got another to go with the pulled beef grilled cheese. The French fries were made fresh to order and could of used more salt but the with Khoka sauce overall they were very good. The pulled beef paratha wrap is my favorite. Everything I ordered at the location and what I got take out was worth the hour drive and I will be returning when I am in the area. read more

I am a regular here with my husband. We come once a week at least. Love the crispy chicken burger!! Really really crispy! I get it with mild spice. Also tried the Big cheese sandwich with pulled beef. What we love the most is the mint margarita. Tried making it at home but didn't turn out as good. Service is really fast. Family owned business. Very friendly people. Can't wait to bring my family and friends to try it out! read more

In all honesty, if I had to describe my experience here in one word, it would be "okay". Unfortunately I felt the food was quite underwhelming (both quantity and quality wise) especially given the prices. The chicken sandwich was decent but was pretty small and didn't have enough flavor (not really too much sauce on it). I also tried the pulled beef sandwich (this felt overpriced) and was not a fan - I think the flavor profile had an identity crisis. It felt like a combination of a desi burger (almost like talava gosht) and an American style pulled bbq burger. Either way, I wasn't a fan (sorry if this is a little harsh!). The cheese on the cheese fries had an odd consistency (tasted like a roux, very floury). Lastly, the mint margarita had way too much mint. The overall ambiance is quite nice but I think I would only go back for the chicken sandwich. It's definitely an interesting concept for a restaurant overall. read more

Stopped in on a rainy December Friday after picking up our car at the IAL. all I can say is WOW!! The photos don't do the food justice. The entry way smells fresh and clean and the food is outstanding. I had the crispy chicken fries and my husband the crispy chicken burger, he didn't share lol. The portion sizes are large and the flavors are so unique and different than anything you'll ever try elsewhere. I wish we were closer so we could go back. read more

Honestly, very overrated. The stars are literally just for the vibes. The inside is very cute and the artwork on the wall is very funny. We tried both the pulled beef and crispy chicken burger. The pulled beef was such a disappointment. It lacked flavor and was weirdly sweet. The menu does not say the burger would be sweet which threw us off. The crispy chicken was okay. It was crispy but it lacked flavor. read more

We had Lamb Chops and Crispy Chicken Burger. Approx. $30 with tip for both. Lamb Chops: Pretty average, did not shave off any fat from the chops, some parts were really fatty, not ideal. It was dry rub marination. Served with Very lil mint chutney. No salad/onions on the side. Taste: average. Crispy Chicken Burger: we ordered Medium Spicy, it was medium spicy (which is great!). The crispy fried chicken inside the burger bun was good. The Cole slaw, pickles and the dressing were on point. The burger bun was dry cold and disappointing af. Tasted better than most crispy chicken sandwiches I hv had. read more
