BEST A/C experience since I've lived in Florida (38 years:) Like so many others, I had contacted another company who came out and diagnosed the problem - I had no AC. They said they would see if the part was under warranty, get me an estimate for the job and get back to me tomorrow. So tomorrow came and at noon I still had no call from them. I saw Khoolex's reviews on Yelp and said this is too good to be true so I figured I would try them. Gustavo came out at 10 a.m. and by 2:45 p.m. the part was replaced (under warranty) and the AC was working perfect. He cleaned up the AC and fixed a few other things and I still did not hear back from the original company. Such a nice guy - so honest and straightforward. What an amazing experience. I found Gustavo here in YELP with a lot of good reviews and decided to give it a try. My AC keeps having a leak somewhere just to give u a history i hired a guy before him this guy was just keep adding freon and a month later the AC was not cooling again because its low on freon because there's a leak somewhere. So I called Gustavo to check my AC and he run a test and found where the leak is and its coming from the coil with his leak detector . He seems to be trust worthy and honest guy. This guy is a stand up guy! Hard to find in business today. He could've easily told me he would come out and charge me for a service call but he didn't. My AC is brand new. Today while working, I noticed it was getting hot in my house. I always have my AC set to 75 or 76. All of sudden my thermostat is reading 81 and the the air coming out is warm. I panicked!!! Went on to yelp and found this company. Gustavo was awesome. He told me he would come out and check out it out and give me a free assessment. But what he told me to try first was to turn off the breaker to the AC and wait 30 min then try turning it back on. Sure enough I did what he said and it's back to normal and blowing out cold air!!!! Gustavo, your response is a well crafted and lengthy fantasy. But a long response does not make it a credible one. When someone goes to such great lengths to defend their position, there is always a reason. Here is my response to your response, which is a more complete review. My conversation with your representative lasted for 1 minute. I had no "complex questions," nor did I ask about an hourly rate or how you bill. I asked if your service fee to show up is taken off the final bill if I hire you, and work was complete. The conversation never got past my question: "Can you provide proof of insurance and a copy of your business license. The answer was "No." Your explanation of why a property owner is not entitled to have a copy of your insurance is that, "in the past, we have had problems with customers when we provide what you are asking for. " I never asked for or demanded that copies be emailed to me immediately or before I had hired your company. It is customary to get copies of both documents before any work is done. Any lawyer will tell you that before you let someone work on your property you must have a copy of their liability insurance. After you told me that you would treat me like a child by providing only the association with what I asked for, I asked if you could give both me and the association copies of your business license and your insurance to protect me and them from liability and you said basically that your concern was that if THAT was my concern, I may not be a "good fit" for you. I am the property owner, not the association. Ladies and gentlemen, if you hire this company, BE CERTAIN TO REQUIRE 1. PROOf OF LIABILITY INSURANCE AND 2. A COPY OF THEIR LICENSE TO PRACTICE. Note: That same day, I hired a company that emailed me a copy of their liability insurance and business license. They diagnosed the problem with no "fee to show up" since the fee came off the final bill. The company I hired installed a new HVac system at a cost that was reasonable and did the highest quality of work. Best of all, no one insulted me, made anything difficult, or tried to slander me online with fantasy nonsense about how I am a difficult customer with "complex questions." In fact, I asked a lot of questions of the owner of the company I chose to do business with who was present on sight, and he was patient, friendly, and ultimately, I was able to choose the right unit for my house and to understand the installation process. I learned a lot and felt comfortable with my choice because of his and his workers' professionalism and patience. When I am about to spend thousands of dollars potentially (I knew my A/C unit was on its last legs), all I ask for is credible information, courtesy, and a decent price. In South Florida, any one of these things is easy to come by. I have learned from experience to require all three. While it is obvious from their reviews that they do a great job and customers are happy with their work, most people do not realize how important it is to protect yourself financially in case of mishaps which can cause liability claims so they get away with not providing the necessary documents directly to the property owner. In the event of injury on my property, it is more likely that a claimant will sue me, the property owner directly as opposed to suing the association or management company. To be clear: There was no misunderstanding. Never did Gustavo or any representative of Khoolex tell me that I could be provided with a copy of their insurance other than that I should request a copy from my association. While it is the right of the company to refuse business to any customer, it is also the right of the customer to refuse to hire a company that will not provide required documents directly to the customer. read more
