I cannot complain about Dr. Khuu since I never met him. However, my conclusion is: AWFUL...... WORST customer service ever & INCONSISTENT treatments. SUPERVISION or RE-TRAIN for the RN or tech is highly recommended. l purchased 6 laser hair removal treatments for $558 via groupon. 1st VISIT: BAD ATTITUDE: I was ~20min late, but waited at the reception for 15min. The 1st thing the RN came out and said was if you were ever late again, I'll reschedule your appointment. Feeling ASSAULTED: My treatment on was for my lower legs. The RN said something like TAKE YOUR PANT OFF and go lay down. I totally IGNORE her and just rolled up my pants. First, I didn't think it was necessary. Second, there was nothing to cover up. Normally, if seeing a dermatologist, at a minimum, a mid size tissue paper would be provided. 1st TREATMENT: The laser head is approx. 1inch. The RN hover the laser head ~EVERY OTHER 3 INCHES for ~1sec. The whole treatment for 2 lower legs area was ~10min. After 2 weeks, I could see circles with no hair every other 3 inches. $$$: I had 2 groupons and only gave them one. The RN said, "If you don't bring your 2nd groupon along with you next time, we would NOT provide you the service." I went home and looked through all the groupon policy and fine prints. NO word says that I need to redeem all groupons during the first visit. I was going to argue this with her, but she didn't ask for it during my 2nd visit. 2nd VISIT: The RN's attitude changed, she wasn't as COLD, and seem to be nicer. 2nd TREATMENT: THIS TIME, ROLLOVER only, CONTACT TIME ~0.1sec. The RN simply rolled the laser head along my legs. She finished 2 LARGE AREAs, both lower legs, within 5MIN. No pain, no smell, and ZERO hair fall off after 2 weeks. ps. I had been to other place for laser treatments, which was also close to pain free. I suppose there would be a tiny smell of burning hair and the contact time was at least 1sec. 3rd APPOINTMENT IT'S ALL ABOUT THEIR TIME, NOT YOURS. On a Friday afternoon, I suddenly receive a phone call saying I missed my appointment, but my appointment is wed 6:30 in the following week. !?!?!?! They said they couldn't reach me, but went ahead to re-schedule my appt. I asked them should I come now, she said I missed it for an hr, so I had to wait for another month. This is so ridiculous. They made another appt for me at Apr 10 even if I clearly told them I cannot make it. I told them I only can make it after 6pm. When I brought the groupon, I specifically asked if they would open on Wed until 8pm, and they said Yes. Now, they told me they change their closing time to 5:30pm. The lady that I spoke to said if you cannot make it, there's nothing she can do....... I am so glad that I brought this from Groupon , and love their customer satisfaction guarantee policy. I told groupon about their poor service. Also, they change their operation time, and no long can offer the time that was offered during my purchase. I'm usually the first one to listen to Yelp reviews but I was desperate to see a dermatologist quickly and through ZocDoc, Dr. Khuu had availability. I braced myself thinking, "how bad can it be, really?" only to find out that every negative review before me had been correct. I found Dr. Khuu himself to be extremely rude and almost demeaning. STAY AWAY!!! Horrible Clinic, Staff and DOCTOR!!! Would not recommend to anyone!! First time seeing Dr. Khuu. Don't even want to mention about their messed up schedule and the long wait. We arrived there half hour before our appointment and he didn't see us until 20 minutes passed our appointment time. After he finished with his previous patients in the next room, he came in to our room without knocking and introducing himself. Then he barely used 1 minute (literally!!) to explain what he thought it was after a 30 second examination. Then he started taking an injection out from his drawer and preparing for injection without even trying to explain what is inside the injection and whether it is necessary to apply!? We tried to ask for an explanation on the cause of the inflammation and what is inside the injection. But he just kept repeating "you know, it (the inflammation) is like a ballon, and I need to inject this inside it, so it could be flattened out and maybe normal again." WTH does that even mean!!! How do you inject something into a ballon to flatten a ballon!!?? That doesn't make any sense at all, it is a very bad analogy!! So we tried to ask him in other ways using different questions and see if he could better explain what is happening biologically/chemically under the hood. But he was like a broken "cassette player" and just kept repeating the stupid non-sense ballon analogy... Long story short, we walked out of the clinic without knowing what he injected and he charged us an additional $1xx for the injection without letting us know that there will be an additional charge, after we have already paid our co-pay when we checked in for the appointment!! I would give 0 stars If Yelp allowed it; unfortunately I have to generously give 1 star. Dr. Khuu himself is great, it's the staff that seems to be lacking in common sense, listening skills, and empathy. We went to Dr' Khuu twice to date, for an annual routine check-up. Last year, we got charged a $30 co-pay, this time around however - we got charged $150. It was not explained to us initially why we got charged $120 more this time around, despite the fact that the procedures done from last year and this year, were IDENTICAL. Insurance coverage has not changed either, so I knew there was something slightly shady going on. I called the office immediately and attempted to explain to Dr. Khuu's Billing person, Jamie, that both procedures from 2013 and 2014 are exactly the same, insurance coverage is the same, and that perhaps they should check with the insurance first PRIOR to charging us the $120 out-of-pocket deductible immediately. She explained the entire process, which she probably thought was foreign to me not knowing that I used to work in my family's medical billing business, and had more than sufficient understanding on medical billing processes. She INSISTED that it was the insurance's fault for not providing more specific guidelines; HOWEVER, WHAT SHE BADLY NEEDS TO BE TRAINED ON, IS THAT IT IS THE PROVIDER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CALL THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND RECONFIRM COVERAGE FIRST, so they don't end up submitting an incorrect claim and over-charging the patient. Her comment, "We will submit the claim in two days, and if the insurance thinks it's wrong, then you'll get your refund in a few weeks." I mean, REALLY?! Why not be proactive and check the insurance yourself and make sure that you're doing your job right? Just immensely lazy, irresponsible, inefficient, and lacking a more proactive thought process. Upon speaking with the insurance company ourselves, we were validated and Jamie was indeed WRONG and credited us the $120 that we got over-charged. If she claims that the insurance does not provide more accurate guidelines, this would've been more reason for her to have due diligence to make the phone call and double-check, prior to over-charging and ripping off patients. Me and my husband both went to Dr.Khuu because we needed a new skin doctor in the area. We have a great insurance and Dr.Khuu made sure to take an advantage of it. My husband had an allergic reaction, doc Khuu took the scalpel out, took a sample and charged our insurance thousands of dollars for...SURGERY! We of course had to still pay like 500 dol out of pocket which was like 10%. It was an allergy hives! We gave him the benefit of a doubt, but it happened multiple times and we had enough when I called and asked for the refill of my mounth cold sore medication and they told me that I have to come and be seen by a doctor! There was nothing to be seen! Cold sore that he knows I suffer from and I needed medication refil for! I needed it right away, it was painful and embarrasing. They do not care... Sometimes Khuu can be pleasant if in a good mood but hopefully you have money to spend. Found really nice helpful doctors in Campbell. Don't have to pay anything but 20dol co-pay... P.s. Beware: Bite and switch payment tactics I found Dr. Khuu listed as in-network on ZocDoc and provided my insurance information to the front desk before appointment. When I checked in to see Dr. Khuu his front desk asked me to wait while they're calling my insurance to verify my eligibility for benefits. After 30 min. I was told that my member id was invalid and therefore I had to pay an out-of-network price before treatment. In the presence of the front desk staff I logged into my insurance website to proof that my member id was valid and active. I showed the front desk an option to log into my insurance website as "service provider" to verify my coverage online. I offered to get coverage confirmation in writing and return later for treatment. The front desk still insisted on payment of an out-of-network price before treatment and refused to accept my co-payment AFTER their bill was processed by my insurance. I left without seeing dr. Khuu under the impression that the front desk only pretended to "verify my eligibility" while in reality trying to manipulate me into paying up front a higher than contractual in-network price. I have a major insurance accepted for example by the Stanford University Clinic and most medical providers in Silicon Valley. IMO the verification of coverage should be done BEFORE appointment and not started AFTER patient arrived for consultation. read more

Do not go here. Seriously. I went for a regular mole check. They found something that looked odd and took a sample, which turned into having to take some off. Then turned into having to take more out. Then, when I went into get the stitches out - they informed me that had to take even more out (there was no communication regarding this prior to the appointment and I felt really kept out of the loop). The nurse stayed in the room while I changed and when I asked her if she was going to stay she responded "well I'm comfortable with it". Really? Not about your comfort. I did not find Dr. Khuu to be rude as others mentioned, but I wish there had been more communication regarding my treatment. BUT, what is driving me the most crazy at the moment is the billing. I'm due a refund and have been trying to get my money back for over 5 months. The billing staff is really hard to get in contact with and all I hear is "I'll look into this and get back to you on Monday" -- many many Mondays have come and gone with nothing. I purchased laser hair removal for $600 through LivingSocial. The sessions did not work. I left with the same amount of facial hair as when I started. I was understandably upset but wasn't worried because I figured; obviously a mistake was made but they will correct it. Or so I thought. I did not at all expect to get the reaction I did from him. Instead of admitting a mistake had been made and doing the right thing and redoing the sessions on the "correct" settings Dr. Khuu would not allow my sessions to be redone. Stating that the lady who did my session is "highly trained" and did what she is "supposed" to do and that since I "only" paid $600 when his regular price is $1,008 he won't be able to "justify" it (important to note here that each of my sessions only took 5 minutes to complete). This obviously was very upsetting and I called and emailed trying to speak to Dr. Khuu directly convinced that he is a rational understanding person and perhaps he just didn't hear the whole story. Well to my surprise he refused to speak to me directly, instead having his assistant email me stating he has nothing more to say to me. Pretty much a BIG "F-OFF"! What he has done is extremely rude, dishonest, and unfair. I say dishonest because I learned later that the "highly trained" lady who did my sessions was not experienced at all but was actually new. So far I am feeling uncomfortable with this office. It takes my time and $$$ and finally my skin does not become better. The assistant asked my any medical history for my third time visit, it means that she never has a look at my file in the computer while she keeps clicking the mouse. I came to see Dr. Khuu for my bug bits that got infected. He prescribed some medicines. Unfortunately, there was some allergic reaction to the medicine(s). I had to go back there two times to see him. Dr. Khuu didn't listen and he didn't pay attention at all. There was only two medicines and he assumed one medicine caused the issue and asked me to keep using the other ones plus the creams. It turned out that the other medicine caused the allergic skin reaction. When asked why he thought the other medicine caused the allergic skin reaction, he didn't have any answer at all. If I can get no star, I would but there's no option to not select a star. This is the worst dermatology I've been to and it gives me nightmares. First the lady doesn't tell me the estimation of the amount, the bill turns out to be huge. Then they force me to have facials, in facials they cut my skins so many little holes, it hurts like crazy and they use some kind of electric shot to shot my face!! After each facial my face is full of bumps and bleeding on the small holes. Very very violent facial!!! And each visit costs me hundreds of dollars. Even the short 10 minute talking to doctor. If I was rating his spiffy outfit - 5 stars. Unfortunately as an MD I cannot recommend. He biopsied my 8 year old son's mole - he seemed extremely concerned. When I called with a question regarding the results I was told I needed to make an appt before he would discuss because he has a very strict policy about charging for this. I was told to take the results to our PCP for interpretation. WHAT?!!! The dermatologist who cuts out the mole can't spend 10 minutes on the phone explaining the results. WHAT. A. RACKET. Though the Nurse that did the procedure was very pleasant and professional, the laser hair removal didn't work well. I had it done on 2 body parts both of which, after 6 sessions each, still have ample hair on them. Maybe it reduces it 50%, which for the price, even with groupon, it completely unsatisfactory. If you read the Mountain View reviews, it's pretty much the same except the fact that at this office, Khuu is never there. I have a horrible skin condition (Psoriasis) and I found this doctor through ZocDoc. Oh boy, was that a mistake. I came here over several months and my condition just got worse. They told me to come in multiples times a week for a light treatment and prescribed me 3 different creams that didn't do anything. I work and have a busy schedule but they refused to compromise with me and told me I still had to come in multiple times a week. Out of all the months, I only saw Khuu once and for less than 5 minutes (I timed it.) He just came in, looked at me for a bit, and prescribed me a bunch of ointments. Then he left. I understand doctors don't have much time, but 5 minutes... really? The guy at the front who charges you is total scam. He tried to charge me for an office visit and a light treatment SEPARATELY even though it was on the same day, at the same time. And when I told him I couldn't afford to spew out $100 cash in one day, he said that it was too bad. So without an office visit, I couldn't get prescribed a refill (they don't give refills with the prescriptions. An office visit for one is just another way to get more $$$). I almost cried and was on the phone with my insurance provider for an hour (because the guy told ME to call) but they gave no sympathy. They just tried to guilt trip me, saying I had no way out and this was the only way I could get better. They charged me on days I didn't even go in for light treatment and even for days they said my insurance was still acceptable. Then it turns out, their office is "out of system" for my insurance and that they couldn't accept it? Wow. Thanks for telling me after months of treatment. My bill was over $800. Absurd. I found another doctor and he's much better. I told him about my experience with Khuu and he understood my need to get better but still provide an affordable experience. Booked through Atena. Arrived 15 minutes before my appointment, but was left waiting for 1hour minutes after I had completed all of the forms. I was told to pay $50 as co-pay , and I asked them if this is all I need to pay today , they said yes. Then they sent me $487 bill for some biopsy he did , which I asked initially and was told is covered in co-pay. I did called them and they agreed to not charge me The doctor told me that everything would be covered by my insurance, but then I received an additional bill for $200 from a lab in San Francisco. I called them again and was asked will not be charged. But now I saw they reported that 200 to my credit score ,and my score just dropped by 80 points Also he wrote an $130 ointment as prescription, which he asked me use for 1 week and see if it work ????? BEWARE!! This office is terrible! They are very unorganized and keep poor records. Dr. Khuu pushes products that he makes the most profit from, via his sales reps, not what is best for the clients. I spent nearly $800 on 'in office products' at an out-of-pocket expense that didn't work for me. After 4 months, Dr Khuu finally wrote me a script for a product that cost me $10 and worked within 48 hours. I have been seeing Dr Khuu for nearly 2 years. He is a good dermatologist, with good experience. I have read some of the reviews here, and I think most patients have a misconception of what makes a good doctor. Doctors see lots of patients everyday. Doctors are not magicians, and they can't remember every single patient. I believe in being an active patient i.e. the patient should monitor your own progress, and always feedback to the doctor what has been done previously, what you have observed during treatment, what you think is troubling you this time. If you sit there like a starfish, don't expect miracles. You have to participate in your own health and well-being. In doing so, the doctor can then better assess the next course of action to resolve your issue based on his/her experience. That being said, I have always had cystic acne issue, and I once had severe breakout of a weird kind of skin rash on the insides of my elbows. With patience, and a few sessions later, we were able to rule out different kind of infections, and narrowed down on the cause of my skin problems. Once the cause was nailed down, the rashes recovered very quickly. I do not find any fault if the nurses or PA do not do small talk. I'm here for my skin treatment, and I want to be professionally treated as soon as I can, and get on to my other work. We do not go to the doctor's office to do small talk. First of all, this is my very fist Yelp review. I am not one to ever do reviews but this experience was so awful and handled so poorly with no customer service. I had purchased a facial Peel on Livingsocial and called Khuu Dermatolgy and told them it had expired. Asked if they would honor it. The reception said that she needed to check with management and called me back later that day. I would of totally understood if not. She said no problem and booked me a time. Showed up for the appt. and the doctor came out himself and would not honor it . I had explained to him who I spoke too and he said that she had only worked a few days and that she did not matter. Who does that... and then he spent 20 minutes of his own time calling Livingsocial to find out the policy. I had told him that Livingsocial had said it still holds the value and the actual value purchased does not expire. You should be able to use it for product or anything else. Kind of odd that the actual doctor would not honor his management and then took his own time at the front to stay on hold. Never had this kind of customer service before. I had already done the leg work and called his office, they honored it and then I even called Livingsocial to find out the policy. Needless to say, you could not pay me to have him do any kind of treatment on my face. I had to question his professionalism to not back his own employee and to take the time like that. I deeply regret not reading the Yelp reviews before I began with Dr. Khuu. His "treatments" resulted in minimal improvement from my skin conditions, yet they included very painful injections - absolute torture. The computer billing statements - sent by regular mail - are always at a much lower amount than what they will inform you via telephone. Their telephone manner is consistently cold and rude.
