We usually go to uchi so that is our benchmark standard (which is really very high). the fish was really fresh. the creativity was banging. the atmosphere was so cute. the prices were really in line. service was great. presentation was beautiful. i really liked that everythign was small plates so we could try so many different things. even some of the hot dishes were on the small side so we could try that too. i woudl skip the uni pasta- kind of too one note. the sushi was my lesser favorite, but still tasty. the maki dishes were my most favorite. so creative with the fruit and fish together. hand rolls were good, but pretty small for the pricing. i'll def be back! read more

Cute date night or GNO spot. We ordered the kichi signature tasting for 2 which is 6 courses. It included miso soup, 4 pieces sashimi, 4 sushi pieces (sea bream and trout), 2 handrolls, choice of wagyu or lamb (we got wagyu), and dessert (ice cream). After this we were already full, but also ordered the black cod and uni pasta from hot menu. Everything tasted really good and not too fishy. However some items were really salty - the skin of the black cod, some of the vegetables, the Wagyu. Prices were as expected for the type of cuisine. $85 for the tasting, $25 for the cod and pasta each. They have lots of signature cocktails which were refreshing as well - I ordered the sake martini and my husband ordered the ginger old fashioned. Service was attentive and did explain the dishes well. They do take reservations via open table but we walked in on a Friday night at 7pm without one and had no issues getting seated immediately. Tucked away behind a dental office I believe. Can be easy to miss. read more

Located in a white building off to the side across from Popeyes and connected to Pacific Lending. The interior was very well decorated, a mixture of modern with warm masculine. The service here was really great, the girls who served me last night were wonderful. They were super friendly and attentive. Their service is why I gave the extra star. The food however was more of a 3.5/5 stars. The Kampachi Crudo was probably one of my favorites, also recommended by my server. The Hamachi Crudo was good as well. The Chu Toro and Gyu Toro were good. Unfortunately they were out of oysters for the night. The Botan Ebi was good, not many handroll type bars do the fried head anymore so it was nice. The corn appetizer was sweet and crisp, nicely grilled. I'm usually a big fan of Brussels at sushi spots, and though I loved that they had each layer individually peeled, the fry time was a bit too well done. I had more burnt ones than well cooked ones. And when they're burnt they're very bitter. If it was just taken out the fryer a minute sooner or 45 seconds sooner it probably would have been better. The handrolls were also one of my least favorite. I had the chili scallop handroll, the xo sauce completely overwhelmed the scallop. Scallops have a very mild and delicate flavor profile therefore more simple flavors would accommodate it best to enhance the scallop and not overwhelm the scallop. I probably would have just had it without the xo sauce and it would have been more enjoyable. The lemon and tobiko were enough. I also tried the negihama roll this was also alright, the flavors didn't really mix well. The garlic chips were nice, but something was either overdoing it or under doing it. Something just didn't make me go wow this is great. (Unlike the Crudos, those were perfectly executed in flavor balance and complimenting sauces and pairings to enhance the flavors of the fish.) And as an uni lover, this was the most sad for me. The uni wasn't very fresh unfortunately. It had a very fishy flavor. Maybe I caught them in the wrong day and they had a new delivery coming soon, but I wasn't happy with the taste of this uni. It didn't taste fresh at all, I was expecting a nice sweet ocean brine flavor, but it did not deliver. I do appreciate that they offered non caffeinated tea here because most places don't. They only offer green tea. So that was nice. Would I be back again? Hmm maybe if they updated their menu a tad bit or maybe just for a small few plates. Would I recommend? Kichi Bar is such a great hidden gem in Carrollton! The space feels modern, intimate, and perfect for a date night, while still being relaxed and welcoming. We tried a variety of nigiri, including O-toro, hotate, botan ebi, kinmedai, salmon, and uni, and everything tasted fresh and beautifully prepared. The Uni Pasta was rich and creamy, and the Uni + Botan Ebi hand roll and Chili Scallop hand roll were also standouts. We also enjoyed the Wagyu Burger, Soft Shell Crab Maki, and Matcha Latte Martini. I had been wanting to try this spot out for a while and I finally decided to go one Sunday night for their late night happy hour. Their late night happy hour is fro 9pm to close and they have discounted sushi and other items. Our server was great and he recommended alot of great items. The inside of the restaurant is cute as well and it gives date night vibes. We ordered several different things. We got the chicken boa bun, the shishito peppers, different types of nigiris, two different hand rolls and the wagyu. Everything tasted great but my favorites were the wagyu and the tuna handroll. An absolutely stunning dining experience -- both visually and flavor-wise. The oysters were incredibly fresh and beautifully presented on ice, paired with ponzu and bonito flakes sauce that added the perfect umami depth and citrus brightness. I'll admit -- I was initially a little disappointed to learn the uni was cooked rather than served raw. However, the creativity completely won me over. The fish cuts were buttery and precise, and you can tell they use high-quality ingredients. The wasabi had that real, clean heat -- not overly harsh -- and truly brought out the natural sweetness of the fish instead of overpowering it. Even the pickled ginger was perfectly balanced: not too sweet, lightly sour, and pleasantly crisp, which is rare and very appreciated. The pork belly was another standout -- crispy exterior, tender and juicy inside -- paired with apple slices and a vibrant purée that added brightness and contrast. The textures and balance were spot on. From plating to flavor composition, everything felt intentional and refined without being pretentious. The restaurant is tucked away in the plaza behind the PNC Bank, so I'm hoping no one misses it! Vibes alone is what this area has been needing. This place has been missing some upscale vibes. But it's not so upscale that you'd feel uncomfortable coming in casual. Def date night, friends night gathering with great food and yummy cocktails. We enjoyed the food. We opted for the Kichi Sashimi Set, recommended by our lovely server. This was a good choice to get a variety of the restaurant's offering. I loooved the Maitake - tasty for mushroom enthusiasts and will change those "partial" opinions too. The sashimi was nice and we added the Uni Pasta which was really good especially when paired with the Waygu steak that they cook to what I call perfection. Each items plating was beautifully done, leveling up the elegance of the place and the price was really reasonable for what you get. Took my family from out of town and everything was wonderful. Jolie was a very great server and answered all the questions I had to ask. The spicy edamame was very flavorful and the soft shell crab with the seasonal relish was to die for. Also the sweet shrimp and the scallop was also one of the best we've ever had. You have to try the cinnamon flavor - soo yummy! They also have an ice cream made from ube and coconut which made my whole mouth purple! Such a fun experience! I would say that you would have to order more food on top of it to feel full. I think the sushi here is quite pricey, we spent a little over 100$ for two and didn't feel satisfied. Maybe I went on a bad night but the fish at Kichi wasn't good... I love sushi and I love strong tasting fish but I don't think the fish at Kichi was prepared to the optimum level... it tasted "fishy" (not in a good way) and not flavorful. I ordered ALL of the "Kichi Hand Roll" (all 7 of them at the time of this review) to try. The best tasting one to me was the "Maitake Cripy Enoki" because it's the one without any fish in it. One of the chefs gave me a free handroll to try and while this one was slightly better... it's still not what I'm expecting. Usually at a handroll restaurant I can eat it without any soy sauce but at Kichi I feel like I have to go heavy on the sauce in order to get flavor and mask the fishy taste... My friend ordered some traditional nigiri and he thought it was good. So maybe it's just the hand roll quality. The service was great. Every staff member was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was nice as well. I thought the restaurant itself was kinda hard to find as it's behind the bank building. read more

This is probably full stop one of the best sushi restaurants I've been to at a super reasonable price for premium nigiri (happy hour is maybe 25-50% discount 9pm to close). I'll be the first to say that the BF and I are definitely sushi foodies, but we really appreciate checking out new places and this restaurant has only been open for maybe two months. For a random Tuesday night, the place was almost entirely empty and service was definitely on point. Anecdotally I'll say the temperature on the thermostat is set to at least 5° below where it should probably be, so maybe take a sweater? The value for the price of the Nigiri set menu is definitely on point, fish quality taste wise I would compare this to Hush in Keller. Worth a try for sure! read more

This was from a visit in August of 2025, so it was very on for this restaurant, and I'm assuming it's due to growing pains. There was a server mixup I think, or some sort of ordering mistake for us, where we ended up waiting for about 2 hours for most of the meal. It seems the front and back of the kitchen needs better communication. That said, after learning of this, the staff compensated us with our wait by apologizing professionally and offering a discount on the total bill. Now for the quality- the food was really good, and the presentation was beautiful. Even the scallop handroll (which I personally don't like scallop usually) was so juicy and fresh! Salmon and yellowtail taste was exceptional as well. I could really see this scaling in this area if they can iron out some of the kinks in food preparation pipelines. I will update my review with 5 stars if the next visit is as good- but at least the staff handled our situation professionally and the food (albeit late) was excellent. read more

It was a little confusing to find this place because it's located in the same building as other restaurants. Do not be deceived. The inside is so cute and has a nice aesthetic (very different from the outside). All the oysters, nigiri, and hand rolls I had were pretty good. This spot is an absolute must go to! The staff here is friendly and attentive. They give great explanations on what each dish is which is great. I love to hear about exactly what I'm trying. The ambience is very quiet and romantic. Perfect spot for a date or casual girls night out for a crowd of 2-4. The pricing on everything is very fair and worth the price. The best bang for your buck in terms of portion and options is the hand rolls they serve here. Absolutely chefs kiss these were well portioned and super yummy! It's upscale food and vibe with relatively affordable price. We opted for Kichi signature tasting for 2 for $85 which comes with 6 courses (appetizers, cold dish, warm dish, nigiris, handroll, dessert), and we ordered uni pasta in addition. They currently have grand opening set menu available as well that's also a great deal! The courses and set menu + one additional item makes a perfectly sized meal in my opinion. Kampachi (8.5/10) Plum Leche de Tigre, yuzu foam. This was such a refreshing and well balanced dish perfect for the summer. loved all the little details in crafting this. Kara-Age (8/10) The chicken was good and crispy, and that shishito aioli was excellent. KichiBar does such an excellent job in creating unique sauces. Kinki Nigiri (9/10) This was on the house! One of the best sushi I had recently! It was incredible how fresh and not-fishy it was and the texture was similar to a dry aged fish. They dress up their sushi so you don't need soy sauce. Rice is a tiny bit al dante than I would like. Wagyu Beef (7.5/10) Potato pave, cilantro puree, herb butter. The beef was chewy for a Wagyu, but everything else that came with it was great. That potato pave is the best I have had. Perfectly crispy in layers. Uni Pasta (8.5/10) Shiso pesto, Uni cream foam, shiso oil. This was my first time having a proper Uni pasta and it did not disappoint. The pasta had a texture of fresh pasta, and it lusciously tastes like Uni. It is suuuuper rich, but that shiso pesto helps to balance it. Banana Ice Cream (10/10) Hands down the best banana ice cream ever!! No artificial color and tastes literallly like they took a banana and turned it in to an icecream in the most simple and natural way as possible. Must order. We tried the uni pasta based on yelp recommendations and it is, in fact, a delectable dish. Pasta is perfectly al dente and the sauce is to die for. The sushi is super fresh and I tried amber jack for the first time. It's like a next level yellowtail. It was so good. The ube ice cream was good but the banana ice cream stole the show at our table. Tastes like banana bread in the most delicious way. The outside of the restaurant leaves much to be desired but the inside is very polished and welcoming. I have a new favorite sushi spot. Went here with my girlfriend and loved it. This was a Wed at just after open, so it wasnt busy, but the service was excellent. Not overly in your face (which can happen without many other patrons) and just overall good service. normally, my girlfriend actually doesnt love sushi (I do) so we like to find places that offer enough choices of the non-fish options to keep her happy. For this purpose, I like the menu here - we had the brussels sprouts appetizer, which was great. Think of this as more like flash fried brussels sprouts chips (almost). Light, good flavor. sushi-wise - I had the O-toro nigiri (amazing), the wagyu nigiri (also amazing), and the softshell handroll, which were wonderful. Of course, the high end cuts you expect to be good, but they did a great job of seasoning on these (just a light touch of salt/etc). The softshell crab was just rich enough. My favorite part was probably the uni pasta. I put a picture - the pasta itself was perfect aldente and the flavor just had a great richness to it. I dont always love uni and this was more my girlfriend's dish, but ended up maybe being my favorite. They have other non-sushi options I would try.
