Beet and goat cheese salad add chicken
    Sophie B.

I've been here a few times in the past and thought it was tasty which is why I'm skewing towards 4stars . Can't remember what I got previously but this time I got Beet and goat cheese salad with chicken - simple, fresh and tasty. Didn't love the chicken, it was a little rubbery and was under seasoned. But there's a good amount of it and it's not unpalatable, just not super good. Thai chicken soup - tasty basic soup, nothing super interesting but again fresh and tasty. Raspberry bar - rather underwhelming didn't have a strong raspberry taste nor did the bar part have any good texture or flavor. Generally very mid experience this time but I know I've enjoyed their sandwiches in the past.

Conveniently situated right along the Minutemen Trail, Kickstand is a great option if you need some fuel before/after/during your bike ride (they have bike stands right outside). We came on the early side of a rainy Sunday morning and was pleased to find only a small line - though the place started filling up quickly as soon as we finished. My cousin and I split the smoked salmon breakfast bagel and the Deluxe egg sandwich. - The salmon bagel: 7.5/10. Everything bagel was better than expected and I loved the top and bottom coverage, as well as the additions of tomato and cucumber. My only gripe was not a lot of smoked salmon but overall, not bad. - Deluxe egg sandwich: 10/10. Absolute must-order!! The egg was a frittata with spinach, mushrooms, and onions, and had this silky, tender, almost pudding texture. Loved the brioche bread they used, which held everything together well, and the addition of the thin sausage patty. Next time, I'd get this with bacon. The other pastries looked great. They provide an assortment of sauces to add to your food but I didn't see those until too late. Service was super friendly, and our food came out fast.

Grossest, saddest, over $5 avocado toast I've ever encountered. This is probably half an avocado! Don't get me started on the 7-grain bread--it was cold and soggy-- and I love multigrain. Staff was friendly and chai was OK, but it sucks to open your order down the road and see this :/

I adore this place and the availability with outdoor seating! The baked goods are amazing and the service was quick!

Awesome cafe for a nice coffee break or a pit stop while biking. They have a wide variety of things : coffee, tea, sandwiches, other lunch foods, pastries, muffins, cookies. They also have vegan items in each category that are well indicated. They have plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating is well shaded from trees and parasols. Would definitely recommend to others!!!

This was my first time at Kickstand and I found it while running an errand in Arlington. Breakfast was yummy. We had breakfast sandwiches and shared a chocolate chunk scone.

The quiche was rich, custardy and denser than I expected, and the small salad helped balance the richness (wish it was a bit bigger), but I was full by the end. Got the pineapple passionfruit matcha bombe for a dessert - while I liked the fruity filling I didn't care much for how dominant the white chocolate flavor was, so that was a miss for me, especially given it was a couple bucks less than my lunch. Regardless it has a huge menu and it's a decent quick cafe option in the neighborhood.

The layout is great- an oversized island buzzing with hot and iced drink orders, cozy seating as you walk in and even more space on the far side with a perfect view of their pastry display. We kicked off my daughter's 7:30 birthday breakfast here and it couldn't have been better. She picked the shakshuka that had perfectly runny poached eggs- it was hearty and satisfying. My scrambled egg+fontina grilled cheese hit the spot too. But the real magic was their insanely rich Valrhona hot chocolate that reminded me of my favorite cup from a spot in White Plains, NY. I mean....it was pure bliss. So were the decadent chocolate mousse cup my daughter has raved about the few times she's come here. Coming here was hands-down an unforgettable start to the day. Service is great and Tatte is the kind of place I'd come back to anytime I'm in town. This is an Israeli bakery-café that knows how to make every detail count.

I only say this because it was raining and would have made us drier and more comfortable at the bar. Staff were welcoming and attentive, we got our food and drink quickly. The kale brussels sprouts caesar was delicious, and we enjoyed our drinks- however he expected his to be a bit sweeter and I expected mine to be a bit saltier. These are personal preferences but I asked for some olives since my cocktail leaned red pepper more than the briney drink I anticipated.

We were seated 35 minutes after our reservation (which was 12:30 pm) and no one came to our table with water or silverware until 1:30 (a full hour after our reservation and 25 minutes after we were seated). We ordered cocktails, one of them being a flight of 4 mimosas. When brought to the table there was no description of what the ingredients/flavors were in each - which is customary to share/explain so you know what you're drinking. The server didn't know, but did bring the answers back a little while later...thank you! They were out of one of the first course items on a two-course prix fixe menu (which unfortunately 3 of the four in our party had originally selected). For the second choice/back-up course (avocado toast) it was not accompanied by smoked salmon as stated on the menu but instead shrimp and cucumbers had been added - with no heads up from the server that they were also out of the smoked salmon....the dishes were brought to the table with no explanation or apologies whatsoever. In a very odd twist that I haven't experienced before, our original server said they were leaving for the day during the midst of our service and a new server worked with our table for the balance of the meal. The second course meals were fine - the steak in the steak eggs was delicious per the two people in our party who ordered that dish; the egg dishes the remaining two of us had were ok, nothing to write home about. Sitting at our table we witnessed the table next to us experience the same issues we had...and a friend of theirs swung by their table and shared even more egregious examples like never receiving their drinks at all, among others. As another reviewer wrote about their experience today, it was shocking that nothing was comped off of a $250 bill, discounted, or some future offer made to make up for our utterly unacceptable experience - never mind that we were there for 2.5+ hours! We are grateful to have restaurants like Tryst in Arlington but we will not return (we have dined there many times for special occasions over the years) and will no longer recommend it to friends either (which I have also done many times).

I got inspired by watching youtube to make a jambon buerre sandwich - supposedly a popular quick sandwich for Parisians. The sandwich is half a baguette with butter and French bistro ham. I tried searching all over for the French bistro ham with no luck. The only options were online sources with expensive shipping and/or expensive minimum order sizes. Somehow I stumbled upon MA-France nearby in Arlington and they sell jambon-buerre sandwiches. It's a small shop that sells sandwiches, pastries, and a small offering of French food products. Lots of pastries and baked goods like quiche, tarts, cookies, croissants, etc. The cheese offerings were very limited and basic. I can imagine that the cheeses that they sell are the same types and brands that they use for making sandwiches. For example, they sell President brand Brie - that you can also buy at Costco and market basket. Disappointing, but understandable because they can't afford to buy more variety and more expensive offerings without a big enough client base to buy those cheeses before they go bad. Getting back to the sandwich - it was half a baguette with some thick slices of butter and two pieces of French bistro ham. The bread was kind of dense and the crust was more chewy than crispy. I was disappointed that they didn't bother to spread the butter, but if they're not selling enough sandwiches then they're probably keeping the butter in the refrigerator - making it too difficult to spread. When I got home I fixed up the sandwich to my liking. Overall, the sandwich was okay, but not good enough to make me want to go back. At least I was able to solve my hunger for the jambon buerre sandwich.

Now it's quite underwhelming. The apricot croissant is now some smaller glorified danish that has no richness or personality. The plain croissant is quite "bready" now, whereas it used to be light and buttery. I have a sneaking suspicion that they have a different croissant supplier now. What saved this spot from a lower grade is that the pain au raisin and chausson aux pommes are passable. Also a save is that they still offer various French products, from soaps to cheeses to canned goods. I have to find a new French bakery in the area.
