I love this place. It's quick, affordable, and they have a kids menu! My five year old loves it here and has had many of the choices from the kids menu. They have dinner on Friday and Saturday, and we've gone then too. I had the biggest crepe one Friday at dinner and it was amazing! Everyone here is super nice too. The hummus is good and they warm up the pita bread. We've had the falafel gyro, chicken gyro, Greek salad, fries and the chicken rice lemon soup. All very well made! This place is so good it's almost always busy! I took my daughter and my aunt here recently and we loved it. We had a Sunday breakfast for lunch (NOTE: On Sunday's they close early at 1:30 p.m. and thus only have their breakfast menu, not the dinner one). I've loved Arlington Restaurant & Diner since I found it over two decades ago. I just adore their breakfast selections, which are always cooked to perfection! You wouldn't know it by the name, but this is a stealth purveyor of Greek food! They are owned by the same family that owns Greek Corner down the road in Cambridge. I popped in one day recently to grab a meal to go, and the friendly server at the counter helped me finesse my falafel gyro order to my tastes. It's definitely a diner. Don't come with higher expectations, and you'll be fine. Luckily when me and my boyfriend went, there was no wait. We went on a Sunday morning, and the place was packed. Our waitress was definitely more of the no-frills attitude, but still friendly. I think the place is always pretty busy, especially during weekends, which is where I can see service becoming subpar. We ordered the waffle with strawberries and whipped cream, florentine omelette, and corned beef hash. Honestly, nothing was particularly special, but I think that's the beauty (or detriment?) of eating at diners. Filling portions and cheap prices for food that I could probably make for myself but am too lazy to actually do. Only real negative I have was that the hash was too salty for me, although I don't think that's unusual for this dish. Come hungry, leave averagely satisfied but without making too much of a dent in your wallet. read more

The chicken Caesar wrap I ordered yesterday was literally nothing more than chopped lettuce, croutons and a few small cubes of chicken poorly wrapped in a fragment of pita bread and encased in torn aluminum foil. It was also delivered on a tiny plate by a 'who cares?' - style waitress. Meh! Blah! Breakfast is ok here but only because an egg is an egg and there are only a few ways to screw up an English muffin-- though I will guess they have probably found a few. I've been here many times and over the past year the quality has nosedived. I'm really not hard to please but aw jee whiz c'mon! this was a flagrant insult . And oh jes I had to spit out some hard- as -a -pebble chunks of chicken that were not chewable. I haven't had a sandwich this bad since I went to a diner in Newton for a pastrami sandwich that had one thin slice of pastrami on two thin pieces of white bread. YUM! I understand the negative reviews of this place-- it's a diner and people are clearly being thrown by the name "restaurant." But one look at it and you can see that it's a 1960's diner. It even has patterned formica tabletops. (And it was with some difficulty that I did not squeal when I walked in, but few things are open and I was really hungry). There was just one young woman waiting on everyone and dealing with the takeout orders, but she was fabulous. Sweet and obliging and informative. It's pretty clearly a family run place and you can see the kitchen, which I found really reassuringly charming. I get why people who are more used to the hipster type food might object to food items like frozen spinach, but these guys make really superb hollandaise sauce. The food was scrumptious and the portion size was good. So if you're not fastidious about organic farm-to-table and elite dining, this is an excellent place for breakfast. read more

This place seems like they've realized they can provide mediocre food and service and still be acceptable enough to be crowded for a weekend breakfast. However it was pretty disappointing from the get go. Walked in and probably 4 teenagers were at the wait stand, every single one of them looking down. We stood there awkwardly for about five minutes just waiting for someone to acknowledge us. Finally get someone's attention and sit down. And wait. And wait, and wait. Finally a waitress comes over and asks "if we want to order". When telling her yes, she disappears for another ten minutes before we finally actually get to order. Never got asked or offered a refill on coffee, so forget that. French toast was obviously frozen and half cooked at that (No real French toast is yellow on the inside, or in my case, cold, mushy, and half white because it was still half frozen). Eggs tasted fake, potatoes were barely cooked. Nothing on my plate was even remotely warm. So many cheap shortcuts taken here and it's a shame because I would have loved to come back and try lunch, but I certainly won't be now. It wasn't even worth the effort to send back as we maybe saw the waitress twice and an entirely different person brought our food and picked up our check. read more

It's not a great value. 8 dollars for a BLT with coleslaw and 11 dollars for a Tuna club. The baklava was good and the service was friendly and good. I had to ask for a refill a couple times but it was fine. The main problem is that the lettuce was moderately fresh and the tomato was mushy and the bacon was very chewy even though thoroughly cooked. The tuna club overwhelmed the bread and fell apart. The fries were excellent and the coleslaw was very good. The issue here is that Boston area restaurants hold a very high bar and this diner doesn't quite make the mark. read more
