My wife used this service during a trip from LGA to UES. The car was clean, the driver (Alexander) was delightful. They had my wife's flight info and despite the flight arriving 30 minutes early, she only had to wait about 90 seconds for Alexander to show up. It's important to note that this firm has found a niche where it can charge a hefty premium compared to other ride services like Uber or Lyft. A trip from LGA to UES was $119. UberX is $35-45. Was the service great? Yes. Is the premium charged worth it? That's debatable, but when you need a trip with a car seat you don't have many options in NYC. read more

Promise they are not worth the money. They are already overpriced for the fact that you need a carseat on top of that there are additional charges that they do not tell you about or make it clear from the beginning. Also the drivers do not have adequate well known safe car seats. This company is just up-charging to make a profit on the fact that you did not travel with your carseat. Also you have to order the drive way ahead so you are going to be waiting for hours for an overpriced carseat. When I asked to speak with customer service the actual owner of the company spoke to me. He had absolutely no clue how to speak to a customer. He shouted over me and did not hear my concerns then went ahead and laughed at me when I called him out on his poor customer service. We tried it again once on the way back from the airport and the car smelled like smoke. It was our first time flying to New York and we brought young kids with us so we'd like to choose the safest and most comfortable transportation from the airport to our lodging. The driver was on time, communicative and polite. The vehicle was good and the car seats for my kids were very, very clean and perfectly fit for our children. The owner is also very communicative and easy to reach. There's apparently a glitch in the system and our trip takes longer than usual so the final bill was higher than estimated but it was fixed with clear explanation post-trip. This is probably one of the worst, if not worst, service experiences I have had in New York City. My wife and I had our first baby at NYU last week. We spent a lot of time beforehand thinking about the ride home from the hospital, bought a car seat but ultimately decided to reduce our stress level by using Kid Car NY. Our son was in ICU but we were ultimately discharged Saturday evening. 1) Kid Car took 2-hours (7:35pm - 9:35pm) that evening and at that point the message on the app still read 'searching for your driver'. My wife was sitting at the hospital reception area waiting while I had to hustle home to get a car seat and ultimate an Uber. 2) Kid Car has zero contact details on their site. If there is a critical emergency (which this was), there is absolutely no one to speak to and on contact numbers anywhere on the site. 3) I wrote to Kid Car - Topher - on Saturday Sept 14th evening at 8:29pm asking about the whereabouts of my car. I cancelled at 9:35pm after 2-hours. I got a message from Topher at 9:42pm apologizing but saying I should have booked before 5pm. I sent him a long reply on my utter dissatisfaction with their service. As I write this it is Mon Sept 16th. I have heard zero from Kid Car or Topher. Admittedly, this was my fault. I trusted this app / service to be present and available at one of the most critical junctures of our life. I thought (assumed) as a professional service they would deliver. I would not want any other parent to go through the same experience. Please look elsewhere reliability and consistency. read more

Based on good reviews I decided to use kid Car for the first time. I booked a ride over a month ago for this past Sat. Night. I even called 2 weeks prior to reconfirm. Driver never showed up. I tried calling them, leaving voicemails and emailing. Finally they replied with a text message saying sorry the driver couldn't make it and offered me a credit towards a future ride. This is obviously useless to me as I would never use them again. Luckily Uber showed up very quickly with a car seat. Normally I don't sweat the small stuff but this was for an important event and I was really relying on the car service to come through. Service was fine and communication was good, but the driver had car seat improperly adjusted for my child and then argued with me when I tried to correct it. He tried to tell me that harness slots should be selected based on a child's weight, rather than their height, which makes no sense and is VERY UNSAFE. I realize that car seat installation is complicated, but I worry that other parents might not notice the improper installation and correct it. DO NOT USE. If I could give zero stars, or even negative stars, I would. If someone holds a gun to your head and demands you use this service, tell them to shoot you. We called significantly in advance, only to find that it would cost $100 ($15 extra over the advertised price) to bring our daughter home from the hospital to LIC, even though that is closer than other neighborhoods that receive the "normal" charge. Fine. We were willing to pay extra for the peace of mind of having a car service that "specializes" in providing families rides home from the hospital after birth. We followed all their detailed instructions, calling a day in advance of discharge, then when we called on the morning of the day of discharge as soon as we found out that we would be leaving the hospital at 8pm instead of the typical 2pm, suddenly they decided that we would need to find alternate arrangements. The whole point of a car service is to provide cars and service. This embarrassment of a business provided us with neither. According to the owner, Topher McGibbon, "their clientele" only uses the service around mid-day, so he left us stranded and suggested hailing a cab. He was happy to desert us for no legitimate reason whatsoever in our time of need, and was rude in doing so. This is not only no way to run a business, it is no way to treat any human being, let alone parents of a newborn who are clearly in need of assistance. I can only hope this review contributes to the failure of this sorry joke of a business that preys on parents. BTW, we managed to make it home using a legitimate car service that was safe, professional, friendly, and punctual, and cost $35. read more

I came into NYC with my 2 year old for a business trip. Since we had he stroller and a ton of stuff, and it was only me, I could not bring a car seat. When I IIved in NYC I had bad experiences with Uber and not getting the correct kind of car with the correct kind of car seat. KidCar solves all that bc the app is much better. We also used KidCar to bring baby home from Lenox Hill hospital and it was sooooo nice not having To think about bringing a car seat while I was in labor. This company was great! We rode from Essex County, NJ to Newark Airport a couple of weeks ago: two adults and two children. They use Diono Radian car seats and arrived on-time with seats properly fitted. The app works really well and allows you to text back and forth with the driver. We had a different driver for each leg of the trip but both were really nice and responsive. Two things to keep in mind: -The cost for a family of four for a 17 mile airport trip was more than $200 each way. This is of course considerably more expensive than the non-car-seat-providing alternatives -The gratuity gets automatically added on to you fare. So if you tip your driver in cash, you're going to end up tipping twice. The tip that automatically gets added looked about 10% of the total fare before the fees. The timeliness and quality of the service is what gets this five stars! read more

Booking was easy and car was clean. Our driver was professional and drove safely. But the cost is just too expensive! $160 from JFK to Manhattan not including tax and tip. It was my first time traveling to NY with my baby, so it gave me piece of mind. During my stay in NY, I got more and more comfortable traveling in short cab rides & public transportation with my son sitting on my lap, so when it was time to take the ride back to JFK, we just cabbed it. This was my go-to car service from my son's infancy in 2010 until recently (he's now big enough for a booster & we have a great travel one). Yes Kid Car is a bit pricey. But your other options are: lug around a large, cumbersome car seat at your travel destination or take a chance that a traditional car service will have the car seat you need, in the size & condition you need it. Kid Car NY provides a stellar service - they bring precisely the seat your child needs, properly installed & the drivers are all trained & courteous. The seats and vehicles are spotless. Having become a single mom when my son was 2, this service was a godsend when I traveled to the airport or similar locations. (When my son was large enough to handle Uber Car Seat's seats, I used them for weekend day trips but given that I had many Uber drivers cancel on us en route to us when they saw I needed a car seat, i continued to use Kid Car for crucial travel trips eg to the airport). I do have to say that our last use of Kid Car NY was a bit frustrating because of their (new to us) app. It had been a while since we booked them & we needed a car to the cruise terminal for a family trip. Since the site said all non-airport trips must use the app, I did so for the first time. I never got a notification text/email that the driver had arrived, nor did he call/text me once he had (he parked down the street & waited, assuming I got a text re his arrival from the app). I couldn't reach anyone at the office to verify his whereabouts. We finally connected with the driver & received the same outstanding service I've come to expect. However, upon pickup after our trip, when it came time pay, I ended up tipping, because nowhere was it stated that the tip would be included (the way non-app trips used to do). Sure enough, when I got my receipt, an additional tip had been added. Not that I thought the driver didn't deserve it but again the app was not clear - the amount I was charged on my phone differed from the receipt that was emailed to me. So while I highly recommend this service, I suggest if you are taking a non-airport trip & using the app, that you verify EVERYTHING in advance - what to do if you don't get a notification or hear from your driver, exactly how much you pay, etc! Yes I am not a fan of their app. However, I am a fan of the company. If I had a friend who was transporting an infant/toddler/small child in this hectic city with its crazy drivers, I would assure them that Kid Car's rates are well worth paying for what you get - safe travel with your kid (without having to bring your own car seat)! read more

No complaints and generally happy with the multiple options available to me. Used it with a newborn (no more than 6 months old) and it provided me a service that I couldn't find elsewhere. My only concern is that it's a bit pricey. To the point that depending on how much you plan to use it you should just buy a car seat instead and use it with other car services. Sure, it's more convenient to not have to worry about the car seat, but the difference between this and Uber/Lyft practically pays for a car seat after 2 rides in Manhattan. Still quite useful for situations like airports when carrying your own car seat is not an option. But less so for, say, moving within the city. read more

We brought our new born baby home from the hospital with Kids Car NY. You can imagine how important this decision was. We researched all possible ways to achieve this. After communicating with the folks at Kid Car, we felt very comfortable with our decision. A young, respectful man arrived in an immaculate SUV. He was fully alert to having a new born baby and her tired parents in his care. His vehicle smelled clean and fresh. No bad cologne smells. He brought with him a brand new, infant car seat and set it up for us. He waited patiently as we tucked our baby in. She cried all the way home, he drove calm and smooth the entire time. He was kind and considerate. I can't think of any better recommendation than that. One consideration when using the service is to plan ahead. At the time we used them, it was suggested to call for the service thirty minutes ahead of time. Our baby is one year now. read more

Topher the owner is very responsive via email in general within 24 hours. Good service overall and would definitely recommend and use again. One caveat: a driver picked us up and dropped us off from Roslyn Heights to Oheka Castle but then we were unable to get a ride back between the two destinations. There would've been no logical way for us to come to that conclusion since kid car took us there one way. We were stranded without a ride back.. I emailed them and their response was: sometimes our drivers find themselves outside of NYC and accept requests like the ones you made on 8/10 and 11. As a customer, the only guidance I can provide is that when you are requesting point-to-point service outside of NYC, that you have a backup in mind in case a driver is not available. read more
