At orientation, the camp owner saw my pre k child feeling nervous. My son hadn't even met his counselors before the camp owner decided it would be mandatory for me to hire a babysitter to babysit my son in order for him to attend camp. I calmly explained that my son can be shy especially in new surroundings. My suggestions for success for my child were completely dismissed and were met with smug comments and complete lack of empathy. It was shocking and disappointing to see Coleman heading in this direction. If you are considering Camp Coleman, I strongly advise going elsewhere, where ownership cares about your children and not just your check. What kind of camp is this!?

I got a chance to visit them last summer when my family took my little cousin there for a day tour. I was blown away by how much they've grown both in sheer size of the property and all of the cool features they've built. Walking from the parking lot brought back so many memories. It's kind of wild how your brain can instantly bring you back to specific moments from over 20 years ago. The wildest thing that I saw they had built was their new American Ninja Warrior Course. It wasn't any rinky dink diy job either... it felt like I was on the set of the actual show! All of the staff members I met were outstanding young men and women. They were all professional, polite, and enthusiastic about their job. I remember my counselors back in the day having those same qualities and it's clear that Coleman really hires good people. I accredit my current skills in swimming and archery to the wonderful instructions that I received day in and day out when I went. Looking at the prices, they've certainly gone up since I was little but everything sure has. I'm sure if you ask my parents, they'd tell you that it was worth the cost because when the bus dropped me off in the evening each day, I was very happy but also completely exhausted. I would eat dinner, head to my room, and knock out immediately. Prior to my camp days, getting a kid like me to bed was darn near impossible. If you're looking for a phenomenal camp for your child, I'd give them a call to explore your options or to simply learn more.

Below expectations. Customer service left me wanting. UPDATE (several semesters later): At the price I paid, I expect the trainers to be in excellent physical condition. They weren't. I also expect the trainer(s) to instruct and ensure each child gets a turn. They didn't. Fell way below expectations. Go watch a class or two before you sign up. You be the judge. We won't be back. EDIT: I recently received a compliment on my review. Here's what was shared with me: "Totally hit the nail on the head. I actually went there in the late 90s and early 2000s and I can tell you that barely anything has changed since then. They are also quite cheap and you will never get Wifi or any improvements and if there are I would be very surprised. I was a competitive gymnast there when we realized they had no idea what they were talking about we moved to another gym. Best decision we had made. "

At the other -top of the art- places we would see that year after year they did the same routines and the groups were by age instead of skill level. At NGC, children are grouped by level and work on specific skills until they master them. Also, safety is the gym's primary concern. The gym itself might not be flashy, but they have great equipment and in terms of technique they are very on point. The owners have been very accessible and willing to work with me with any concerns I've had regarding my children which I really appreciate. After my other experiences I have been impressed with my girls' improvement and their excitement and willingness to learn. Highly recommended.

The entire Goodman family (owners/directors) are all hands on deck, involved in the day to day, and always engaging with campers, staff, and families. There's an incredible culture and camaraderie between everyone, from the group leaders who attended Rolling River decades ago as campers, all the way to the new counselors. Most important of all, everyone we've met at orientation, meet the matey's, reunion events, etc. are patient and nurturing, and truly enjoy working with children. The leadership team and head counselors are educators and it really shows throughout each camp day. Yes, the kids are here to have the time of their lives, but beneath all the fun, there's real substance and intentionality throughout the day. In the STEAM lab, there's a weekly theme and age appropriate lessons for each group. Sports/athletic blocks promote participation and teamwork. And instructional swim lessons use every square inch of the pools to maximize practice and repetitions. Between the waterfront with boating. kayaking and paddleboarding, a great mix of outside vendors/instructors, and included field trips, there's a ton of variety day to day. And we can't forget the always over-the-top special days (e.g. carnival day) and end of summer color war! It may seem cliche but we really noticed both of our kids "come out of their shells" after each camp season. They were more confident in playing sports and participating, noticeably more comfortable in the pool, and the biggest win of all was conquering their stage fright. I can attribute that last one to song and plaque day and the theatrical performance each group works on with the great team at "To The Stage" in Oceanside. We so appreciate everyone at the RIVA and recommend Rolling River without hesitation. We're already counting down the days until summer and just another two years before our little guy is old enough to join his two sisters in the fun. Thank you!

this camp is full of bully's and mean spirited people the counselors and camp does absolutely…read morenothing about bullying and allows kids to assault harm Intimidate and bully other campers I felt so unsafe and didn't want to return to the camp I was repeatedly treated like trash by campers who I had told on but they never got in trouble the campers are also known for acting wildly dangerously and harmfully to other campers I was kicked by a camper and threatened with bodily harm which the camp did nothing about when I told The counselors about it I could never have felt more scared in my life to go to rolling river day camp every day I was in fear for my safety and the safety of other campers who also delt with bullying problems so please don't let your kids go to this camp they will be bullied campers are known for doing dangerous and harmful things to each other highly don't recommend bringing your kids here I was constantly bullied and treated poorly by fellow campers Definitely don't recommend sending your kids here unless you want your kids to be bullied or come home with black and blue marks my parents sending me to rolling river was the biggest mistake of their and my life I was bullied humiliated made fun of laughed at and assaulted threatened and in constant Fear every single day and I couldn't go to the camp without fearing of being bullied harassed or picked on I felt sick to my stomach going to a place where I was bullied constantly with out any consequences for those who picked on bullied or assaulted me even though I told the camp counselors about what happened Nothing was done about it I was brushed Aside when I told counselors about the bullying problem and the bully's where free to retaliate when ever a bully was told on or reported and nothing was done to stop it So in conclusion don't let your kids suffer the safe fate I did don't let your kids go to this camp unless you want your kid to be bullied made fun of reticuled harrased, assaulted, threatened , and scared for their life

My children went for 6 weeks and participated in multi sport, basketball, magic camp, two of their STEM programs, volleyball and lacrosse. The programs are well planned with little downtime. They had lunch for purchase and offered lots of kid friendly foods that my kids enjoyed. After lunch the kids would have some free time to go on the water slides, bounce houses or just play a game of gaga ball. There was something for everyone. A monthly calendar of fun events was posted including Tye Dye week, Olympics, etc. And a t-shirt is given out each week. Counselors were all helpful, patient, and professional. Very happy with our overall experience and my kids can't wait to go back again. Looking forward to trying their Adventure Camp this year, we heard soooo many good things about it from last years crew.

He is now in fencing and it has been so good for him to do a physical activity and he loves it. My younger son is sports oriented and does soccer and basketball and also loves the program. They provide lunch for an extra fee and busing. I cant say enough about the summer program.
