Great store full of clothes... Just had a really weird experience though. I bought a bag that I noticed after I paid had stains all over it. I then said never mind I didn't see the stains. They then asked who I assume was the manager if it was okay to return. Mind you this item was 2.99$. She gave me such a hard time about her being able to only do this once because she has to get approval from corporate yada yada yada. I wasn't making a big deal, just simply wanted to see if it was returnable after seeing the stains. She was loudish and on the hostile side. Like she was doing me a favor that was inconceivable. For 2.99! I was perfectly happy with just a store credit. I left feeling like a kid getting scolded my my kindergarten teacher. read more

Love shopping here but after my seller experience, I may stop. People aren't friendly at all for the most part and I gave them a bag of brand new shoes. Nearly 12-15 pairs. And because there was a long line (over an hour) to get the quote, I had to leave because I had my kids with me. They email me back telling me that they bought all of my items and will be $8 in cash. $8?!?!?!?? There were like $150 worth of shoes. Learned the hard way. Do not sell your stuff here. What a rip off and rude customer service. PASS. I understand that they can't take certain items and the only way to survive is to basically lowball you. I didn't expect it on brand new stuff that hadn't been worn. Know what you're getting into prior to selling here. You can shop here but know that the prices aren't super cheap so it's basically a lose lose situation. Go across the street to another kid consignment store which is much better. read more

LOVE this place! We'd been to one other kids consignment store in Austin, and wasn't pleased with their selection or prices. At Kid to Kid we were pleased with both! We were shopping for our baby girl on the way and saw LOTS of cute items. They also have a great selection of maternity clothes for reasonable prices (the pants I was looking at were all around $6- cheaper than Goodwill and much nicer!). The baby clothes ranged in price from $2 on up- but they had a great selection of clearance items that were 50% off. The day we went in the guy let us know they were having a special sale that night- $8 a bag for anything on clearance you could stuff into a small bag or $25 for a large bag. We went back that night and got a large bag. Ended up fitting 40 items in it-- all for $25. It was NICE stuff too- 5 of the outfits were Ralph Lauren, we also ended up with some French brands we'd never heard of that are normally very pricey, and then several regular brands like Gymboree, baby Gap, Carter's, etc. Bought at the regular prices at the consignment store it would have been over $200 worth of clothes. Bought brand new from the stores that the items came from, it was well over $800 worth of clothes! Be sure to go to their website and sign up for the mailing list- they send out coupons regularly and let you know about sales as well. This will definitely be one of our top go to places for baby clothes from now on. read more

So, I read all the reviews here. Of course everybody thinks their stuff is worth more than they get paid for it. You have to come in as a SELLER. Display stuff as much as you can, dig out the manual and bring it in. Clean things up, fold or lay them out. The best things to try and sell are truly gently used, not barfed on 20 times. Donate those to goodwill. I sold some new clothes I got as gifts that were too small and I was paid fairly. I took store credit since you get an additional 20% (I think). I was told it could take awhile so I went and had lunch and they called me in about half an hour. I thought it'd be a hassle but it wasn't. I just got there at a good time, which happened to be like 2 pm on a Wednesday. No way to know for sure. I went today and got a great deal: a Chicco Cortina stroller for $60 (minus my credit). It's a bit dirty but works great. I'm thrilled. This stroller gets great reviews on amazon and retails for $180. I know ALL the deals aren't this great, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I also checked out Once Upon a Child and it had much less stuff and higher prices. Just not as nice of an experience. read more

Cute store, chock-full of baby/kid clothes and toys. It's a colorful fantasy land to explore, and hopefully to find an armload of stuff to take back home. Stuff doesn't seem to last long here. The sign on the door says to come early if you're planning to sell items, because they only take 35 sellers per day and stop buying at 3PM. Every time I've stepped inside, the store is full of clothes, toys and customers and the employees are busy, so they must do a lot of business. They take up to size 10 in kids' clothing, so it's focused on really young kids. My kids are past the age where I'd buy here, but I did bring in a small load of toys, furniture, and jeans one morning recently. The system works like this: you bring your stuff off hanger in a bin/box/laundry hamper, you fill out a form, they call you when they're finished deciding on an offer, and you come pick up your cash or take store credit for 20% more if you plan to shop there. They say they pay what the computerized algorithm allows them to offer, which in my case was about $40. Seemed fair. You have to come back the same day to pick up your money and items they don't want, or you can have them donate the latter to a charity. The employees were friendly and efficient, and the store is clean and smells nice. Can't beat that. read more

A few of my friends had told me about this place. I have quite a few items I need to get rid of from my 10 month old daughters things. We are moving soon so I figured I'd go try this place out for selling a few of the bigger items. I brought in a bassinet in perfect condition my daughter used for 2 weeks. A gently used bumbo with tray. A fisher price vibrating bouncer, and I was going to donate a gently used baby bath tub. The staff wasn't the nicest. As someone who works in customer service you should know to always greet your customers and ask what you can help them with. Not tell your associate "oh hey here's another one. " another what? They wouldn't take my vibrating bouncer because it had the smallest stain on it which when I looked at it had to hold it up to the light and search for it, whatever. They right off the bat didn't want the bath yet when walking around for 20 mins for my quote they have potty training toilets and seats, um because someone's kid didn't use the bathroom in that? Hmm ok So long story short they offered me $37 for what was originally a $140 bassinet and a bumbo. I needed it out of my apartment and had already made the drive from bee cave to cedar park. As a seller, never again. As a buyer... Not unless I'm desperate. read more

As someone who has taken a lot of things to resale stores for men, women and kids both in Austin and elsewhere, it's pretty obvious to me that a lot of first-timers are disappointed when they get their first payout. The reality is that it's pretty standard to price about 70-75% off the retail price and unless you're in a high-end consignment shop where they don't pay you until it sells and then you might get a little more. So when Gina (below) is disappointed at her offer, she probably doesn't realize that's routine. On $200 worth of stuff I'd expect them to be priced around $50-75 and pay me $15-25. This store is picky about what they buy and as a result, the stuff they have to sell is not like junk you find in a thrift store. It's clean and in good condition and very reasonably priced, so if I were still buying for my kids I would definitely shop here. Overall, this is a great store compared to the competition. It's very clean and organized, even though sometimes kids come in and make a mess. I've seen them when they are totally slammed and yet, the next time it's back in ship shape. You're never going to get rich selling your kids' old stuff but if you're shopping or just need to trade up, this is the best place in town to do it. read more

I buy here frequently and have sold here once, but plan to do it again. Even though they are very selective about what they take (which is a good thing IMHO), they pay pretty well. I had told my daughter that she could have the $ she got from what we sold, not realizing that it would be about $20! Boy, was she thrilled! Great prices, good bargains. I've saved money here for years, and don't worry about the kids getting dirty since I didn't pay a fortune for the clothes in the first place. I do wish they had more for the older kids as my daughter is 8 and their selection starts to dwindle at that age. read more

When it comes to saving a buck or ten, Kid to Kid's got you covered. The best deals to be found are in the clothes. On a recent trip, I found a pair of Burberry pants, tags still on, for $7. I also bought a ton of Ralph Lauren sleepers for $5 each. Kids grow out of clothes so quickly, and this is the place to capitalize on it. You can also find baby gear here, but it's hit or miss. They also have a good selection of maternity clothes, ranging from jeans (tons of jeans) to dresses. Again, a great selection of clothes and a terrific price. As far as selling stuff to them, I can't say. Thus far, I've only been a consumer. But as soon as my kid outgrows his stuff, you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be there to pay it forward. read more

I've always had friendly customer service interactions; someone is always available to lend a helping hand since I have a toddler and a newborn and they're (two) handfuls. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is very helpful I don't have kids so I need all the help I can get when choosing gifts. I've bought here and attempted to sell here. The buying experience varies depending on what I'm looking for. I found a decent selection of maternity clothes in good shape and fairly priced. I have 3 boys that I also shop for and I have found them a few pairs of shorts and jeans here. I can't ever seem to find good shirts though - the shirts are always faded and worn out looking. Overall the buying experience was decent but now that im not pregnant and in need of maternity clothes I won't be coming back often, the boys clothing selection alone just doesn't compel me to return. As far as selling goes - don't even bother. Really. Out of a large box of clothing, they buy on average 1- 2 items, the 2 times that I've attempted to sell clothes to them. And the "offer" was hardly worth the time and effort I spent washing, folding, driving there. On 1 occasion I took in a VERY nice Leapfrog Train Set. It retailed for over $100, was in Excellent working condition and had all the pieces - they offered me $8. They easily would have sold it for $50, they could have at least offered me $20. It's a shame because if I could actually benefit from selling here I'd shop here more but what-ev. The employees are always super friendly and seem happy. Also the kid play area is great. read more

I came here to look for dance shoes for my 3 yr old and the total lack of customer service just becomes a bit comical after awhile. It's like they all suffered from the RBF. I was there for about 30 minutes and the manager/owner and 4 other employees just looked at me and walked on. I had to physical move a huge empty display thing that they left right in front of the dance shoes wall. Again, no one stopped to help. Seriously...I wasn't even asking for friendly service...just ANY kind of customer service would be great! I took my money over to Target instead. read more

As others have said- the store layout and cleanliness is great. What was not so great is the service and the experience of selling your things. The reason these businesses are so great, IMO is that you only need some things for a short while, but when your little one grows out of it and it's still in great condition, you can get some of that money back to buy the even more expensive stuff at the next level! My experience bringing my things in here was terrible. Their selling prices are too high to justify such insulting offers on 'new' merchandise. And if that's not enough, as others have commented, the staff (even the management) can be rude and indifferent. Things seem to have gotten worse since one of the managers, Chris I think his name was, left. I can no longer recommend this store. read more

From a seller's perspective, this company does not value us. They may love their customers who purchase the items and have great items for sale, but they treat sellers poorly (never mind they depend on us for their business). Their policy over the phone is that they take buys until 6pm, but after driving across town and arriving by 5:15pm (spending $5/gal), they refused to look at my items. Looking to be a problem solver, I asked if they could update their phone message to indicate that you must be there by 5 or your items would not be looked at. After hand-waving about how the message could not be updated on a daily basis, the owner revealed quite condescendingly that it was her expectation that sellers "should be able to figure it out" that that would be the case since it takes time for buyers to look at items. I told her that she's open until 7pm, so I made the assumption that buying takes time but figured an hour would be enough. If it should be obvious to sellers, why not make it so just to be sure you're not putting us out? For those of us crossing t's and dotting i's, taking time to call in advance so we aren't wasting our time and money while keeping your business afloat, please just take the extra measure to avoid making assumptions or being condescending when we draw the wrong conclusion and just reveal the seemingly hidden to us but "obvious" to you information we are calling to find out. It would certainly be more courteous to those looking to sell items, especially since the price the store is willing to compensate sellers is so poor (as previously indicated by other reviewers). They have a great variety of new-looking clothing AND they actually sell boys pants that aren't "skinny" or banded at the ankle. Lots of UT gear. They also have great, new Melissa and Doug toys. First off, I USED to be a loyal client of this store. Secondly, BRITNEY is the ONLY reason I will never step foot in this store again. IF she gets fired, I'll reconsider. She is rude, inconsiderate, disrespectful, spiteful, and doesn't belong anywhere near customers. She obviously doesn't like to work because every single time I've brought stuff in to sell when she is here, she's turned me away saying that they're done for the day. The store now has a sign (which was NOT there before her) saying they stop after a certain volume. I guess that volume is reached whenever she doesn't feel like doing her job anymore, and must be fluid to how lazy she's feeling that day. She doesn't even apologize when she turns people away either--she simply snaps at you that they're no longer buying and today she added to come back tomorrow at 9am because *that* is when they'll start buying again. Her snarky attitude is completely unnecessary. I have complained on her before with the owner, and I was left with the impression that her attitude would be dealt with and it wouldn't happen again. Obviously, that was me putting too much faith in the owner to actually care how her clientele gets treated. The ONLY nice person in that entire establishment is Sylvia. She's consistently sweet, helpful, kind, understanding, and provides assistance whenever necessary. I've also donated car seats, toys, and almost $500 dollars worth of clothes--so I'm not just here to sell stuff to make money. And even if I were, to be treated in such a manner regardless is despicable. Anna Greene should be ashamed of her staff and how she allows them to treat people. It's abhorrent, and I know that unless it's rectified ASAP, it's cost her a customer permanently. read more

They never have more than like 8 pairs of little boy pants in each size, and even then some are girls- and they turn away PERFECTLY good clothing... not to mention the pricing! Hasn't anyone gotten the memo that this is a thrift store? If I wanted to spend $12 on a pair of pants or $60 for a jacket I'd be at Target. One cashier for everyone too! Ok, these people are seriously greedy and I'm annoyed it has taken me this long to catch on. I've spent way too much money here. Today I went in to browse and saw them selling tiny cheap looking plastic dinosaurs for $6. An infant backseat mirror-used- for the same price new at Target. An Ergo-used- for more then on Ergo's website. I would suggest Savers, right across the way if you are looking for deals. At the very least, compare prices before you purchase because it's a total rip off! read more

I love Kid to Kid for buying clothes for my sons. I can also get great prices on coats for the winter season. They had a large selection of snow boots too which was awesome for an upcoming trip. I pad 10$ for snowboots - great price for probably a one time use! I also got a pair of gloves that I asked if I could have an extra discount since they were damaged slightly. She gladly gave me 50% off. It never hurts to ask here if they'll give you a discount. I get all my sons' pants and shorts here. My sons go through pants so fast so it's nice to spend half the price. I will say they are a little high on name brand stuff like Nike and Underarmour. I can go to another discount store and get brand new brand names for the same price. But overall, the pricing of their items is decent and fair. And if in doubt, ask for discount if you see a flaw in the clothes. read more
