I almost exclusively buy used baby toys, clothes, and gear. Kid to Kid is one of my primary go-tos. They have frequent sales have, a good selection, offer maternity gear & clothes, buy back gently used items (so I often sell outgrown items and get store credit for new-to-me items). After reading the other negative reviews, and also understanding this is a bit of a scummy business, I thought "how bad could it really be?" Well I found out. They took about 15 childrens books and i got... $2.82! She commented how they sell all books at a low price of .99, but the books I looked at were a bit more than that. Even at that price, that's, what, a less-than 20% consignment rate. I walked out in a bit of shock. I also brought in a selection of clean, nice looking, current style, some high end maternity clothes that they entirely passed on. How do I know if they actually took some and didnt tell me? I went there for the second time this week and there were new employees that greeted me when i walked in. the store looks so clean and is very welcoming. i would recommend this to anyone near the area or having kids. they had new and used clothing and toys that were in really good condition. now i understand why people have been telling me such great things about i just never had a chance to go back but now i will be going back more often! thank you kid to kid read more

I came in to find a diaper bag and did a full circle around the store, located their "diaper bags" (pssst.....guys. You were selling a wipe holder that's given away for free with having an Amazon registry. Yeah. I have one too and you're selling it for a profit) and left. The entire adventure took me maybe 5 minutes and I don't think it's necessary to go back. The store smelled....dirty. I hate to be that judgey lady, but when you're buying baby sh*t, that place needs to smell like sunshine and rainbows- because I'm definitely not buying my kid USED items of questionable origin. The employees were.....I don't know honestly. Chatting? I couldn't tell who was working and who was buying because the customers seemed to be looking around for people, too. Unless those were the workers? It all just seemed like a clusterf*ck. Overall, this store just seemed unclean, dingy, disorganized, overpriced and just.....no. Aren't babies stores- even of the used variety- supposed to be like bright and cheery with bright and cheery workers? I don't know. I have two kids, 9 and 18 months Kid to Kid is always my #1 go- to when getting cloths for our kids. The quality is always amazing and the prices are reasonable. I went to kid to kid a few weeks ago and got a whole bunch of spring/summer outfits for my daughter for only 56$!! They also have a play area for little ones to play while you shop! Kid to Kid is getting a big thumbs down!!! I brought stuff to trade in for store credit... a huge box and not a single employee offered to help or even seemed interested in helping to clear space for me to set it down, despite my being obviously very pregnant. I then left to run errands, came back an hour later (after being told about a half hour) and my box is still sitting there. The employees seem to be more interested in chatting and taking their time despite the large line of customers waiting to sell/trade items. The owner and employees even had the nerve to argue w/ a lady who politely pointed out that she had been waiting over an hour and that they had been taking customers ahead of her, and that she really needed to be on her way. The owner and employees were very rude to her, despite her being extremely polite and non-confrontational. I browsed for items for about another 30 minutes and then went to the checkout and my box of items for appraisal was still sitting there untouched. The same woman who had "greeted" me when I first arrived, asked if I was ready to check out... to which I reminded her of the box of trade-in items that I was still waiting to have appraised. They told me they were very busy and would get to it... I apparently didn't learn my lesson from watching their response to the previous customer who raised concerns, because I mentioned that I had already left and returned... and waited a lot longer then expected. At which point several of the employees began to rudely yell at me and give me attitude... I then decided to leave and the owner handed me the large box. I pointed out that this was another area of customer service that they could improve upon as a "family-friendly" business and at least offer to carry the large, heavy box out to the car for me as I am 37+ weeks pregnant... One of the employees then started yelling at me again and told me she didn't care if I was pregnant or not. For a children's store, I was in shock that employees would behave in that manner and yell/scream at customers. For a business that has been open less than two weeks, I was in disbelief that an owner would stand there while his staff treated not one but several customers that way. After mentioning this incident to other mother's I know, I heard a number of other stories about rude encounters in the store and over the phone w/ the employees. Very unimpressed! read more

Do not go there. I saw a Fisher Price highchair that was 1/2 off and decided to purchase it. I got it down the aisle and then realized it was absolutely disgusting. Filthy with food all over it!!! It is obvious these people didn't even look at it (or worse, didn't care) before slapping a sticker on it. I said to the girl there how awful it was and she begrudgingly took a filthy rag and sort of wiped it down. All attitude towards me like I put her out. I will not go back there. I felt like taking a shower after I got home and wanted to spray down my car after I took the highchair out. read more

I have bought Items at kid to kid periodically (on and off). Some good buys. However, more than once I have had an issue with their "sales" and pricing. Items with be on "sale" then ring up full price if you are not checking your receipt. I've had enough. It's not worth the gas money to return and only be told you can get store credit for a mistake they made. It's unfair but mostly unprofessional. No one needs that hassle. Be fair to your customers. Also, I always had a problem with their pricing new items. For example: They had a kids lunch box with TAGS from target with a clearance price of $1.50, but the kid to kid price tag attached was $5.99 Wow. Really?! No thank you. read more

I wish I found this place before my daughter was born. Rarely do I go anywhere else for her clothes now. There is a huge selection of clothes for her and the prices for an outfit average $5-$10. What more could you want for a 9month old! The only downside is they do not pay much for clothes when you go to sell but if you care that much, sell them elsewhere. read more

Yesterday was my first time in this store and I absolutely loved it!! I am 32 weeks pregnant and they had a lot of stuff that I wanted to purchase. two workers came up to me twice to ask me if they could take the pile of stuff that I had draped over my arms to the counter for me and the gentlemen there were very friendly and chatty and even helped me take a crib mattress as well as a huge bag out to my car and loaded it for me. I am a big consignments shopper. I love to shop for clothing and toys for my children. I frequent a number of local consignment shops. This is one of my least favorites. The layout and space is great! Much roomier than similar consignment shops geared toward children. It is easy to find what I am looking for. My daughter loves the little kids door that they have at the entry. The location is great- the west side of Rochester has fewer consignment shops than other parts of the city. I live in Greece, so the location is perfect. They generally have plenty of baby gear and an overabundance of clothing and a pretty good selection of clothing. The gear tends to show more wear and staining than at other stores. I don't think they wash anything up before they display it. Often the gear shows significant wear, yet the prices do not account for that. I very rarely find clothing at Kid to Kid that I am willing to buy. It is either overpriced or very worn/stianed. I am usually shopping for size 6-7 girls, 3-4 boys and infants boys. I find much better quality clothes for better prices at other consignment stores. The owners also seem to buy out clearance from local stores to resell (Osh Kosh, Janie and Jack, etc). This The prices on these items are higher than would normally be expected for consignment ($24.99 for an Osh Kosh coat, $20 for Janie and Jack rain boots). The prices on their normal consignment items is comparable to slightly higher than other local consignment stores. The toy selection is decent and I usually find a toy or two to purchase. I advise that when shoppers find an item they want to buy, they look around to see if there are others of the same items and compare prices. I've found 3 of the same item, all with different prices even though they were all in comparable condition (the prices ranged by $4). The baby gear is more expensive than it was when the store first opened. The gear is often quite dirty and rarely is perfect condition. The prices are higher than would be expected given the condition of the items. The gear is rarely on sale. The store does sell a large selection of Melissa and Doug items- which is great because those items can be hard to find. The store does have a frequent shopper card. For every $300 you spend, you will get a 20% off coupon. For our area, the amount that needs to be spent to get the coupon is about $100 more than other local children's consignment stores. The coupon cannot be combined with other stores. I don't believe it expires. The staff are not overly helpful or pleasant, in fact I have seen them be quite rude to customers and people bringing items to sell. I think their team could use some training on customer service. I have never sold anything to them because I know I can get more money at other locations, so I cannot comment on that process/experience. Overall, while this is not my favorite children's consignment store in the Rochester area, I do feel that good deals can be found and it is worth a stop every now and then if you are in the area and looking for children's items. read more

My wife went to drop off some excess clothing that our daughter has never worn and/or had outgrown. The staff were extremely unfriendly, accusing my wife of dropping off stained and damaged clothing that was unsellable. My wife pointed out that most of the clothes were unworn and still had the price tags and labels on them. The staff did not acknowledge this, and stated that all the clothes had been overworn and stained. My wife was upset because some of the clothes were in very good condition. My wife also stated that the staff were talking about each other in a negative way in front of customers, which was distasteful. She indicated she will never return to Kid to Kid Rochester, and will bring our daughter's excess clothing elsewhere from this point foward. This business doesn't even deserve a star. read more

Huge huge huge thumbs down!!!! Excited to come being my first time coming I walked out in complete shock n disgust mostly that owner would allow people like that 2 work there period!!! Ive never in my life dealt with such rude employees, you don't even get greeted! You get greeted with a huge attitude problem and treated like you a inconvenience! And in front of CHILDREN! WHAT GOOD ROLE MODELS FOR THEM UGHHH. I own several well established businesses in Rochester and if I ever had my customers treated even alittle of my experience they would be FIRED ON THE SPOT!!! I have purchased there only twice and thought that the selection was extremely lacking for boys especially so when I looked at their website and it said they were looking for boys sized 3 to 8 I decided to bring in my son's outgrown jeans and other pants. All were in very good condition, some barely worn since I bought them this spring and he didn't wear them at all this summer. I dropped my stuff off since I was probably 5th in line to sell and they said they would call me. I get a call a couple of hours later saying they cannot purchase ANYTHING of mine because it was, get this, out of date. What? So I go back to pick up my basket, thinking of donating everything and ask them what exactly was wrong with it. They said the elastic was gone from the jeans. Uh, they weren't elastic waist pants, they were adjustable....obviously they do not understand children's clothing, since that was how they came from the store. All items were either Children's Place, Crazy 8, Carters, and ON. They wouldn't take anything back athletic, even though they were in excellent condition. None of the shirts...nothing. I mentioned the horrible things on display and they said they recently have new owners and new standards, but to bring in anything my son outgrows. So basically you would have to buy brand new and bring it to them immediately. NO! I was not about to donate so they could just put it out and sell it anyway. Not ever shopping there again. I guess I will sell elsewhere or donate to someone who really needs it like a church or goodwill... read more
