My daughters were so excited about their first haircut appointment at the Oakbrook location. This exciment was quickly tarnished by poor costumer service. When we walked in, the salon was empty and the stylist were loudly complaining. Once their attention was given to us, my daughter coughed. We were rudley told we should reschedule due to illness. I explained to them that my daughters were symptom free and that we had just made our way through the mall quickly on a chilly December evening. The rude hairstylist insisted that that my daughters were sick. I quickly knew this salon didn't deserve our business. In addition, as I was waiting for the elevator, I saw the another hairstylist Lysol the room. The most heart breaking part of this experience was trying to explain to two little girls why they couldn't get a haircut. Our son had his first haircut here, and the stylist (whose name is Joann) was very kind and patient. Our 15 month old did not like the clippers, but otherwise made it through the ordeal ok! And mom and dad were very pleased with the cut, the store and the stylist. The store is very cool, lots of bright colorful things to look at (and buy). Kids barber chairs come with ipads to watch while getting styled. I would definitely recommended this place to you. Joann even offered to cut my hair. Price was $22, which is reasonable, I think, for the delightful environment and lovely demeanor of the stylist. Definitely make an appointment though. read more

I love KidSnips but the last visit was why I am giving them 3 stars. I went there 10 am they said no walk in til 1 pm. (the door says walk ins welcome)so made appt at 4 I was 10 min late but I did try to call it didn't go thru. When I got there they had given my spot away. Told me next appt is at 5 I went to ask my mom if she could stay with son and when I went back to confirm they said oh I'm sorry I just have 5 away we have 545 UGH. I took my daughter there for a routine hair cut and the stylist, Debbie, notice a small dime size bald spot. She recommended I see a doctor, as she may have alopecia arrata. She printed out information for me to read about. I took her advice and took my daughter to dermatologist. Debbie was correct! we treated it and it is now resolved!!!!!!!!! My son has been getting his hair cut by Miss Keisha for 3 years now and she has done an excellent job every time. My son has special needs and she's great at knowing what he likes (and what he doesn't like). I had my son's hair cut at another saloon one time and the stylist was so horrible and made me feel like it was my fault my son was special needs. Miss Keisha is very patience, kind and knows how to sooth a child if they start to get uncomfortable and this is why I will continue to have her as my son's stylist. I can't complain about the haircut. They always do a great job! BUT... I had a groupon which I knew had expired. But every business should know that even if the groupon expires, the value of the groupon never does. So I should have gotten the amount that I paid for the groupon discounted off the price of the haircut. NOPE. All the lady at the register kept telling me is, "So sorry...we were told that we can't accept groupons anymore because they are expired." YES I know...but I tried to explain that I don't want the deal on the groupon, I just want the value as I know that it never expires. She wouldn't do it! So I called the store later and asked to speak to a a manager. The lady at the register WAS THE MANAGER! I mean...really....if you are going to do a Groupon you need to be aware of how it works. Again I explained to her how it works. She then called somewhere (their headquarters maybe) and called me back to say that oh yes she can take the value of the groupon off my next visit. No apology or anything...acted like she was doing me a favor. I wouldn't have gone in at all had I known that I couldn't use the groupon because they are way overpriced. Don't be fooled, you can get a great haircut for much cheaper. Yes even for a toddler. I didn't think it was possible with my first child, but now I know better and take my others to Great Clips. They do just as well for half the price! I tried to give them one more chance. Called on a Tuesday morning. Receptionist seemed distracted but I made my appointment for Thursday of that week. Go in on Thursday and find out that we did not have an appt. Oh wait- we did! She had put us down for the Tuesday that passed- the day I called. So that was it for me. I was very impressed with this location. I like the idea of entertaining the children with movies and games while they receive a cut! What happened???? I used a groupon on my first visit with my 3 year old daughter and she loved it. Thought I would take the rest of my kids in for their first haircut and pay full price for all three. It was not a good experience for any of us. The guy who cut my 3 year olds hair could not have been less interested and actually was very rude. My other kids had a very nice woman that was patient with my 1 year olds but when I got home realized the haircut looked horrible. the girl at the check out was not very nice either. Next time I am taking my girls back to sweet and sassy where it is cheaper and the people who work there seem like they actually like kids. read more

Have had mixed experiences here with my boys. Had a not-so-good experience with one of the stylists that didn't seem interested or happy to give my twins haircuts. One was fine but one was just bad. We took our 15 month old son for his very first haircut yesterday, and we couldn't have been happier with our experience! Our son is quite the "wiggle-worm" and he was easily entertained with an Elmo movie while Miss Debbie cut his hair (they offer a wide selection of movies for your child to watch while receiving their haircut). She was very sweet and patient with him when he started to fuss. His haircut came out exactly the way we had hoped and it's adorable. Yesterday i took my 7 month old baby for his first haircut, i was there with my husband mother in law and brother in law.. i honestly enjoyed every second of it. It was a great experience. My baby was so calm he also enjoyed it specially bc he was able to watch mickey mouse while he got his haircut and Ms. Bobby did a great job.. There was only one problem i know it might not be a big deal for yous but to me it was. When my baby was done getting his haircut i seen Ms. Bobby walking towards my MIL and handed her a little bag with some of my sons hair. In this world you cannot trust certain people and to me it was a big issue that she now has some of my sons hair and specially bc she lives in a house were there is people i dnt trust at all. My 6 year old son has been getting his hair cut at Kidsnips Oakbrook for a year or two now. We love, love, LOVE Miss Shauna! She was recommended by a friend, after we were fed up with getting bad haircut after bad haircut at other places we had tried in the area. We loved the first haircut she gave him and have not gone anywhere else since! She's also cut our 2 year old daughter's hair a couple times and it has always been an easy, enjoyable experience. She is so friendly, so patient, works quickly and is always so nice about accommodating any annoying hair cut adjustment requests we might have (ie. I have been going for over two years now and feel that my trip to Oakbrook is well worth the effort the cost of the haircut is well worth the value. The customer service has always been consistently great. I like that they have a great variety of movies for the kids to choose from and the movies always work and are current. Toys and gifts are unique and fairly prices as well as hair products that the stylists can provide advice on. Lastly, they have a terrific variety of headbands reasonably priced and unique too. We have gone there twice in the past and the experience has been good. Today my mom took our son to get his haircut. She was told that there was no openings until 1030 so she told them that she would be back. When she went back at 10:30 they kept taking other children and not them. Hair cuts can be very stressful for children and their parents. Lesson learned that walk-ins are not welcome and you need an appointment. We showed up early for our appt and waited almost 45 mins to be seen all the while a stylist(who was available for 30 mins with out taking a client) and the desk girl were laughing and our two year old was crying. Rashell is an absolute GEM! We have been taking our 3.5 year old daughter to Rashell since her first haircut and she is just incredible. We now take our 1 year old son to her as well. Not only does she give them great haircuts but she makes the experience easy on our kids as well as us as parents. Her patience and kindness with my children does not go unnoticed and I feel confident she genuinely cares about how the kids are feeling. She is kind, gentle, patient, safe and efficient. Without sounding arrogant, people always ask where our daughter get her haircut and make a point of saying how cute and stylish her hair looks. Although this does not necessarily matter, the fact t that she makes the experience so great in addition to a great haircut makes her a can't miss!
