This school has a real curriculum and my daughter was absolutely prepared for kindergarten after attending this school for many years. Ms. Alison is just a wonderful teacher and truly cares about all the kids. She is the Pre-K 4 teacher. She is so passionate about teaching the kids not only how to read and count but also about the world (travel, theatre, arts, NYC, books). I can't say enough great things about this school. The administrators are very involved and responsive to any requests made by the parents. I was so lucky to find this school and really believe this has given my daughter a massive advantage in life. As a parent, I felt really good about dropping off my kids here as I knew they were taken care of very well. The place is very clean and the curriculum is engaging. I can tell how much my children enjoy it as they do a great job of sending daily updates and photos which really help us get a good grasp of what they do all day. Also, my kids always left with a big smile on their faces. This only happens when the people who operate this place truly care about the children. I can say my experience was about as good as it gets and we absolutely plan on bringing the kids back very soon. I noticed there were some legacy negative reviews that were tied to the previous ownership - but speaking from experience I can say unequivocally that this daycare is absolutely pristine and the right place to send my kids to. We've had some good and not so good experiences with other options and Genesis is without doubt on top of the list as I feel confident they take great care of the kids and keep parents regularly updated with their daily communication. The schools true colors showed during this time, and I would urge anyone considering RMS, or any Twin Parks locations to do their research. The "teachers" my son had were great, but great caregivers can be found elsewhere. My review is not of the care, but the administration and their dishonest business practices. As a parent, of course finding loving caregivers is essential. What you don't consider is how inflexible and uncaring administrators will affect your experience. I have a gripe with the school. I am no longer sending my sons there (toddler and infant) due to circumstances from the pandemic lockdown, and had requested my enrollment fees back, but the school has decided to keep it. They had refunded other families, but continue to deny mine. I can go on, but will give you a pros and cons list instead, and hope that you learn from my very expensive mistake. Pros -Infant program starts at 3 months, many programs don't start this young -Columbia affiliated, which means you get dibs if you have a connection to the university Cons -Facilities are located in the basement of a residential building, lack of natural light, shared entrance with residents. -School schedule has MANY days off for "professional development", holidays, weeks for winter break and spring break -Make parents fundraise for holiday bonus for teachers and staff, and a staff luncheon---as if parents won't do nice gestures on their own accord -Make parents fundraise for a spring charity -Very strict pick-up time policy for late care -Early closing on Fridays -Expensive tuition, strict contract, no flexibility should you need to leave school. You will have to pay the entire years tuition anyway. They require your SS# to hunt you down if you don't pay. -Administration makes you fee like they are doing you a favor, as if you are not contributing to their livelihood. -Small space, limits the types of strollers they will allow you to store at the school during drop off. If you've made it this far and want to ask me questions, send me a dm and I will be happy to share my honest experience. I know one review won't stop them from securing families to attend, but I hope that this will save some families from throwing their money away. There are much better options around the UWS.

The students were sitting quietly and fully engaged with their projects when we attended a school visit. A student had made a mess and was in the process of getting a broom and sweeping it up when we arrived. No screens, no screaming, no fancy live streams or eye scanner locks like other schools we went to. Just a philosophy that work builds character, children should be allowed to be children, and learning should be hands on, not digital. Loving staff, fantastic teachers, great facilities and location. We could not be more grateful to have found this school. I truly believe it is one of the best pre-k schools in Manhattan.

During our son's "graduation" at Magenta class today, there were many teary eyes (from the parents that is, the kids had no clue). Why I chose Park West two years ago: 1) It started while I was with my son at the local CPW playground, I remembered being impressed with how well behaved the kids from the school were. Seriously, how were they able to get these little 3 year olds to be so good? 2) the administration: exmissions (yes a word you'll come to know as a Manhattan parent), was very thorough. Since the school ends at 6 years old, they are not incentivized to shunt you to their elementary program. During the period when we were applying for elementary schools, I had almost daily updates on deadlines to be aware of. Very helpful when the whole process is ridiculously complicated. Office workers are very approachable 3) Montessori system: My son was shy and not the type that "opens up" if he were pushed/cajoled/bribed to do what the other kids were doing. I needed a place that allowed for him to progress at his own rate with less rigidity (I had to overcome with my tiger mom instincts). 4) Hours- they have a 12 month option, enrichment programs to 6 PM. Given that most parents there have to work, it's nice to know that this school realizes that and works with it. Two years later, it proved the right decision for us. At four years and a half years old, he is reading simple books, dressing himself, and counting to 100 along with his classmates. He's attending a gifted and talented public school program in September. I hope this is helpful. I wish you best of luck on this crazy process.

My husband and I noticed how fast he developed and advanced academically. She was kind, loving, and always kept the kids busy with various activities over the course of the day. Ms. Peralta left suddenly a few months after we started, and things immediately took a turn for the worst. In fact, it seems like many of the experienced teachers had left this year, and the administration chose to promote the assistant teachers, who were highly inexperienced and lacked the proper training and qualifications. During the few months we stayed at the school after Ms. Peralta's departure, my son was moved from the toddler classroom to the preschool classroom. This was a complete disaster. His new teacher had a short temper. It was almost daily when my son would come home and tell me that his teacher was angry. I had heard from other parents in the class that they had noticed her temper as well and addressed it with director. She did not invest in the kids education, and was constantly having them sit on the floor as they passed the time. It had turned into more of a daycare than a school. My son even started forgetting the numbers and alphabet he learned in Ms. Peralta's class. His new teacher did not invest any time in the curriculum or his education. This isn't even the worst of it. A few weeks before our departure, I received a call from the school director reporting an incident that had taken place. Apparently the kids had returned from their daily play on the playground, and my two year old son was forgotten outside and left alone on the playground! Thankfully, another teacher saw him and reported the situation to the director. The director informed me that she had the intention of addressing it with the teacher and other staff. Regardless, I was absolutely livid to hear this. After this incident there continued to be no improvement in the quality of care or education, so we decided to pull him out permanently. I hope this review helps prospective parents make an informed decision on where to send their child. As I mentioned in the beginning, it is all dependent on the proper teachers. It seems like all the experienced teachers left during covid, and the administration made some poor choices with the teachers they hastily hired. I would also like to note that the school director and assistant director genuinely cared and wanted to work with our family on resolving these issues. However, it just got the the point where there were so many issues with the teacher that we could not stay at this school.

My daughter attended the KVU and Camp Kidville programs and had a wonderful experience in both. The teachers and staff are all so fabulous! From day one they were all warm, welcoming, and caring with the parents, caregivers, and children. Thanks to their support, my daughter easily transitioned to the drop off program and was excited to go to KVU and Camp every day. My daughter comes home singing all the new songs she learned, proud of the art she created, and excited to talk about her teachers. The KVU program was a great introduction into the school environment, and really gave my daughter a great foundation to build upon for preschool. I watched her grow and develop so much over the fall and winter semesters. She then attended Camp Kidville over the summer. She looked forward to the fun weekly themes and was so excited to see the fun new way the facility was decorated for each theme. Whether it was playing in the gym, dancing to the music of a live musician, or conducting a science experiment, she always had a great time! I just can't say enough positive things about Kidville. I am so thankful for the experience my daughter had and for the memories we will cherish! read more

I finally had to go introduce myself to her to find out who she is after she was displaying such disdainful attitude toward to me. I'm not too sure who she thinks she is. But with a manager with such a lack of professionalism and communication skills running this place, I think not! Fist time I've been to this place for a birthday party, and what an awful experience. The teachers and supervisor are completely unprofessional. Here are the reasons: - My son came injured 4 days out of 5 day (in a week). One day they called my telling me that my son fell down and hit a chair with the forehead. I asked to to see the video. The supervisor told me that it is impossible to show me the video. She does not know that Division of Child Care Services of New York regulates that video surveillance equipment are for the purpose of allowing parents to view their children in the day care. Anyways, parents are in their right to see what happen with their children at the day care. However, the blonde supervisor thinks that parents have to pay the tuition and forget about WATCH their own children. Very UNPROFESSIONAL. - They told me every day that my son ate all the food every day. A couple of days I took my son from the day care without previous notice at 4 pm. Then, they gave me back the whole lunch back. They did not have time to throw away the lunch. However, the daily report on the app (Tadpoles parent) was written - all the food from home-. When next day I asked about the food the supervisor turned and walk away. , she replied that my son ate all the food that the teacher offered to him. That is impossible because they did not open the food container. That is why, my son got home very very hungry every day. - In a very cold day of December, the teachers gave a ride to the babies in Central Park without gloves. I believe they were very busy to put the gloves on to the babies. - They broke the zip of a brand new jacket of my son and they did not say anything to me. - My wife and I always speak over the phone using head phones. However, my son take any small toy and play to speak over the phone. He did not learn that from us. That means, my son has been seeing teacher speak over their mobile phone over and over and over. That could be the reason that babies get injured because they are not well supervised. - On the Tadpoles parent app, Sunshine's 5th ave staff sent us a TEACHER APPRECIATION PDF. On that file, every staff asked for a gift, like Amazon or Visa gift cards, CASH, even they said what things they do not want to get as a gift. Support staff were the only sensible people. They wrote "ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING IS APPRECIATED". - Once I paid the week tuition with my credit card. A couple of weeks later, I did not take my son to the day care. Then I called them to let them know that I will go to pay the tuition in the afternoon but my surprise was when a lady replied me, "it is not necessary you come to pay, I have your credit card information. I can charge the weekly tuition fee". Why did they keep my credit card information? - Once I met my son teacher. She told me that my son does not listen to her because when she tells him - sit down on that chair, my son does not make it-. My son is 1 year old, he does not understand the word's meaning! Very UNPROFESSIONAL. If you appreciate your children, look for a different day care.

One of the days my daughter stated that she kept asking for help and was ignored by the teachers for over an hour. I double checked the class to confirm it stated all levels of sewing experience and it does, to include beginners. While my child has experience sewing for 10+ years and previous sew camps, it is my expectation that if she asked for help, she would not be ignored. On the last day, my teen was unable to put the dress she had sewed on as they forget to include a zipper in the pattern. She stated that she mentioned multiple times that week, what about the zipper, and was ignored. She bought a zipper on their field trip and my understanding is it was the teacher's responsibility to help create a pattern (i.e. include a zipper). My daughter's dress was ripped - she ended up crying before the fashion shoot as the straps were ripped as were the sides. A floor length dress made out of satin is impossible to put over your head, without a zipper. My daughter felt as if she was being gas lighted by one of the teachers when the other teacher realized the mistake as they tried to figure out how to get the dress on her, pin it with safety pins, etc. and the teacher blamed it on my child stating she never asked for a zipper. My daughter didn't want me to reach out but I met the owner and thought she was nice and figured she had no clue what transpired and she would want to learn from this so the team could improve. I reached out the next week, left a voice mail and never received a call back. I specifically stated I wanted to speak to the owner, listed her name and shared my number and that I wanted to share some feedback from the teen camp. What could have been an amazing experience ended really poorly with a bad taste. While my daughter had fun, she should have left with a dress that wasn't ripped and for $900 I would expect the teachers to make sure the dress was actually functionable and that the child would leave with a completed product that works. If the class states all levels, someone should have made sure this dress had a zipper and my child didn't leave with a dress ripped on both sides and the top. Very disappointing.

I also always provide a generous tip to my wonderful hairstylist, Shelly & the other person who assists with washing & conditioning my hair. Back in October 2024, I received multiple text notifications from KolorBar mentioning a 20% discount off balayage or highlights. When I called to schedule my yearly visit to get the services that I usually get, the receptionist who picked up the phone set up an appointment for me. The receptionist also mentioned the 20% discount to me herself. I informed her that I'm not a new client & that I've been getting services here for a few years. She told me that she was aware & the discount applies for all customers. When I spoke with my hairstylist to get a quote for all of the services I intended to get done, she gave me the total & also mentioned to me about the 20% discount that KolorBar was offering during the month of October. Mind you, I never mentioned the 20% off to anyone. Their own employees were the ones to mention the discount to me so of course I agreed to take advantage of it because this hair salon increases their prices every few months it seems. I called the hair salon to reschedule my appointment since an emergency came up. I asked to speak with Melodi since she knows me well. She's one of the managers of the hair salon. When Melodi got on the phone, she informed me that the 20% off discount is only for new customers. How is the promotional offer of 20% off only for new customers when the multiple text notifications I received mentioned nothing about it only being for new customers? How come the receptionist never mentioned to me that the 20% off only applied to new customers when I myself informed her that I'm a returning customer? On top of that, Shelly who is my hairstylist also mentioned the 20% off discount to me herself knowing that I'm a long time customer? When I explained this to Melodi, she made the excuse that their texts had "accidentally" sent that when it was only intended for new clients. She also said that the receptionist who answered the phone was new & only there temporarily. Melodi seems to have an excuse for everything. But she forgot to give an excuse for Shelly mentioning the discount to me. Then, Melodi indicated that I have "a lot of hair that's really coarse & thick" so it made me realize that they were purposely targeting me. They basically were intentionally not trying to offer me the 20% discount just because of my hair's texture. They basically discriminate & try to take advantage of clients who have long hair that's coarse & thick. How ridiculous is that. I requested to speak to the owner multiple times & nobody ever got back to me. There's two owners to this hair salon & I asked to speak to either one directly because I wanted to file a complaint. What they did is not right. Little do they know that I got many businesses shut down & this business could easily be next if I want to do the same. Don't play with me & definitely do NOT try me because I ain't the one. I know for a fact you guys don't get clients like myself often; the ones who offer drinks & food, along with providing a generous tip to the hairstylist & assistant. Disgusting establishment with unprofessional employees (Melodi). The fact that you guys treat your most loyal & sweetest client like this is truly disappointing. Every time I ask her to do something, she will talk me through the process and go over prices before we get started. Angela always makes me feel good about my hair. She did a base color, bayalage, and a treatment with haircut. Look at all the foils she used! I have a lot of hair but it's very fine. She always makes sure my hair is taken care of so there is no damage. When I was getting my hair rinsed, Angela ran out and got me a birthday cake. How many of you can say your hairdresser would do that for you? It's those little things that make me keep coming back to see her. The artsy, cozy setting in the first floor of a brownstone, is the perfect blend of New York and France! The director is passionate about the art- and exploration-based approach to learning. The teachers are warm, knowledgeable, and nurturing. We were anxious at enrollment as this was our daughter's first separation experience from both her parents and nanny. The educators at LPE transitioned her beautifully with frequent updates - she was comfortable and excited to go to school within a week. We have found the LPE parent community to be welcoming, down to earth, and interesting. We look forward to continuing to engage with this community both in and out of school. Our daughter has flourished at LPE and we can't wait to see how she continues to grow over the next 2 years. Recommend without any reservation!

Not the best option for anyone with thick or long hair…read more I went in for a blowout for my rehearsal dinner a day before my wedding, you would think they would have gone above and beyond for me. The blowout she gave me was soo flat and lifeless, I went home to get ready and realized my hair was 100% flat an hour later, like I didn't even get it done. I went back in and showed them what happened and the stylist looked at me and said "well, your hair is very long." As if that excused the lousy blowout! She touched it up with a round brush but it still barely bad any body. I think their typical clientele has very thin and short hair that's easy to style. So when they see someone with thick or long hair, they don't really deliver because it's not what they are used to.

Once again, Ada saved my hair -- keratin treatment and a great cut... She is the best, always!read more

She did a good job and gave me exactly what I wanted. It was just a root touchup and a cut, but it turned out perfect. The shampoo and the head massage was also nice. I booked my appointment with Randy who started cutting my hair when my previous stylist left the Yorkville location. Here's the final "cut": Location: B, C train to 72nd CPW, 4 minute walk to salon Service: Friendly greet and check in. I always ask for Aveda's soothing tea. Space: 2 level salon, very spacious. In fact, as I waited for my highlights to set in, I was escorted to a private room with comfy chair and table. Extremely bright, airy space and combined elegance with comfort. Hairdresser: This is my second visit with Randy. He is professional, very personable and an excellent stylist. Highly recommend! A very positive experience. Although, I must say being a downtown client, especially SoHo, I truly miss the West Broadway location. However, I'm willing to schlep to the UWS.

I visited my nephew in April and I was looking at yelp to find some things to do so we came here…read more We had such a blast -- the instructors are so kind and patient and really know how to engage the kids. The activities included dancing, beginner gymnastics moves, singing and following the leader. Instructors were not didactic or dogmatic about. The activities were definitely in keeping with the ages of the kids in that class which ranged from two to about four. I can't recommend it enough!
