Stopped in a few days before christmas, my brother in Law rants and raves about their products so we went to find something I might like. This was my first time in the store, they had sales upon sales. Well the set that was recommended was apperantly on sale for $40.00 down from $50.00 and there was 25% off signage everywhere. The sales rep an older man offered to do a skin test which i agreed to. From the moment he recommended the set I pointed over and asked if it was the one on sale with the sign right next to it. He said yes, then I went and grabbed it. My gf then had a skin test done and we moved on to the register, the product rang up at 50, i said the sign is right they're​ and you said it was 40.00 he said no someone else put the sign there, well it wasn't me and he would budge, got extremely combative and rude and even agreed with my brother in law that it was misleading but there was nothing he'd do about it. While the conversation was happening he even left the register to go move the sign back to where it belonged. As a first time customer, there's alot wrong with that whole situation, he confirmed it then took it back then moved signage right in front of us.. we left and took our business to Macy's, who had the products on sale even more. read more

Woo! 5 stars for Kiehl's! I've always had a pleasant experience at every Kiehl's I've been to! The employees are very kind and helpful! They know what they are talking about and I'm always in good hands. This trip, I had a $20 coupon I needed to use up and needed an extra moisturizing body lotion! It was called "Creme de Corps" so far I've used on my body a couple times after a shower and my skin feels baby smooth! I think it was scentless (can't remember) AND it's not super heavy or thick, just light enough to gently feed your skin! read more

I'm not impressed - and sad, because I love the product, and used to love the stores and experience! I stopped in this weekend to pick up an online order and while it was pretty painless and quick, there was no personality in the transaction. I also didn't realize that using a 15% new customer code would mean they would strip away all offers... I didn't get samples, I didn't get the kit with "deluxe" samples, and I didn't get my birthday lip balm - because I got a few dollars off on my order. Making that even better, I didn't even realize this until I got to my car after picking it up in store... The sad thing is, the associate - who was very polite - didn't even to me about any other products or needs... and I would have absolutely purchased - I needed a few things. A nice place for beauty products if you have the money and really need to pamper yourself. Overall, it's a nice store. They provide a whole lot of interesting beauty products. Rose oils, lavender bath, eye cream, face washes, even a men's section. They boast being around for so long and having perfected the art of beauty. I felt they lacked a little in their variety and that everything smelled very "herby". The staff was good and bad. They seemed to hover over you asking questions and trying to sell. But they are also very helpful and willing to give a lot of free samples. But everything is rather pricey and in my opinion, I have found other places that have the same ingredient products for cheaper. So, it's a nice splurge and an incredible idea for a gift but be prepared to spend. read more

Love the brand, hated my experience yesterday. I came in knowing what I wanted. I asked the sales associate for the ultra facial cleanser and he handed me the giant bottle. I said isn't there a smaller size, cause this lasts forever. He rolled his eyes and reluctantly grabbed me the smaller bottle. When he rung me up he made a big deal about me not being registered and when I declined handed me my bottle and the receipt. I had a tiny purse and asked for a small bag. He again sighed and said they only had large bags. I said that would be fine, not that he offered. No free samples were offered either. So I usually only write reviews when I have an amazing experience or terrible one, and this one is going to be terrible! I have been a loyal Kiehl's customer for over 10 years. I have purchased thousands of dollars both online and in store. I jumped at the chance to join their loyalty program (which has gotten progressively worse over time). My most recent experience is at the U Village Kiehl's location. Now Seattle isn't known for having the best customer service, but this place takes the cake. I can't think of the last time I encountered a more apathetic / snarky / indifferent sales staff. And it isn't just one person, it is quite a few - it's as if they are trained to be this way or more likely don't incentivize / train their sales staff to focus on taking care of the customer - take a look at the other reviews, it's not just me! And this is super shocking, in a time where there is so much competition for share of wallet, ease of access via digital purchases and online reviews, my only question is WHY? Perhaps I will never know, but Kiehl's if you're reading - get your act together! They could not make it more difficult to be a customer. I had an issue with two separate accounts (one for in-store and one online). I tried to use a rewards certificate from my online account, but it took OVER 15 minutes for the sales associate to find in my account - this doesn't sound like a long time, but set a timer to do anything online and see how long it takes. The response was that their computers are slow, which is always the reason and that they have two different systems for online and retail and that I need to call their customer support to fix having two accounts. I did this and the 1-800 support agent said that I only have one account and must have a problem with the store - why is this MY issue? Mind you I have had this exact same deja vu experience my last 3 visits. I also tried to return a purchase I made online and *shocking* they said they couldn't handle and that I would need to mail back. Granted they said they could ship for me, but gave me no proof of my return in the event of an issue. They said I would receive an e-mail with the tracking number, but NOPE never received. I called 3 days later to obtain and they snarkily provided then quickly hung up on me - SERIOUSLY? Is it too much to ask to be able to have an omni channel retail experience in 2019? Or having empathetic retail associates who acknowledge their systems suck and they go out of their way to try to help mitigate - NOPE. They act like it's my fault for shopping there and you know what - IT IS! read more

I've got - according to some - more facial hair than I should have. Because I'm not very precise (and really don't care) it tends to shift around my face in various configurations that evolve over weeks and months as if moved by continental drift. So why in the hell would I frequent a place like Kiehl's? The White Eagle Shaving Cream, my friends. It is simply the best shaving product I've ever used. Tired of Gillette and Edge and whatnot, I went in search of a good old fashioned shave enhancer, and this is what I found. It may cost more on first purchase, but it *lasts*, my brothers, far longer than a can of spritz gel. Literally, a little dab will do ya. Once I'd ventured this far into metrosexuality, I figured, why not go farther? One by one I have added to my repertoire the Facial Fuel Scrub, then the Cleansing Gel Wash, and now, the Blue Herbal Astringent. And you know what? My skin has never felt better or smelled nicer. Sure, I still kind of look around when I'm going in, as if I were about to purchase pr0n and don't want to be seen. But once I've scored my metro fix and filled up my bags with free samples of even more goodies, I walk outta that place knowing I'm hooked. read more

I used to love shopping at this store (for boyfriends, brothers, dad's - it's easy using Kiehl's to lure them into the world of facial products - I always buy the "Close-shaver shaving cream" - white airplane logo on blue bottle. From there, transition to moisturizer and who knows what might happen!) Plus, I agree, the samples just lure you into purchasing their hair care, baby care, etc...great gift boxes too. However - One Caveat. (and why this particular storefront gets one star) Do not ever go into the store looking for samples when the asian woman who works there is present. She was extremely rude to my best friend and I the last time I went for a refill on my moisturizer... At the counter, *side note, this is after purchasing the blue herbal stuff that I swear by*, I asked about a few SPF lotions and she gave me one sample and said she was all out of other SPF types. I tried jockeying her for a second one, but again, no can do bc her supply was low (with thin-lipped smirk). Which would normally be no big deal but as we lingered out front to smell their perfumes, I heard her step back into the back office and say to someone else - "You should *never* give out more than one sample. You just have to say you're all out of everything else. They just want a lot of freebies." They? Who is THEY? Do you mean the person who just bought moisturizer from you? Didya mean the person who has been a loyal customer of Kiehl's and introduced their lip balm to a thousand (oh yes, I said A THOUSAND - I'm asian and come with posse) friends? Now don't get turned off by the name "ULTIMATE MAN BODY SCRUB SOAP" it sounds like it belongs on one those late night infomercials along with axe body spray and Extenze male enhancement rather then being a Kiehl's product. Let me start off by saying I'm not big on men's products. I don't own any cologne and I buy the Target brand shampoo. I'm pretty much a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy. Though unlike Matthew Mcconaughey I do wear deodorant. Now I have been using this soap for a few years. And every time I breakdown and buy something different I'm disappointed. It's key ingredients are Oat Bran, Oat Kernel Meal, & Pumice. Here are it's claims from the Kiehl's web site. * "It's a fatigue scrubber!" * Exhilarates and refreshes * Cleanses and exfoliates skin * Helps relax fatigued skin * Formulated with sloughing bran and oatmeal * Alleviates roughness on tougher areas like elbows and heels Do to my job I occasionally spend some time in smoke filled environments for extended periods (I'm a fire fighter). And I come home and smell like a campfire for two or three days. But this is the only product that has been able to get the smell of smoke from my pores almost immediately and it does have an exfoliating quality. Now it is a bit pricey $12.50 for a single bar which you can buy from the Kiehl's web site, the Kiehl's store at University Village (which I have only been to a couple times and had great customer service) or Nordstroms. But I highly recommend this soap and this is one product worth splurging on. read more

Nothing irritates me more than getting the sales pitch for other products I clearly do not need. Hello? have you seen my skin, betch. It's flawless. Don't hate, it's the genes. Anyway, with Kiehl's I can go in quickly get the product I need. Or if I'm feeling girly, I can slather on various lotions and creams, sniff out potions and tonics, and even taste things ( I know I have a problem) without so much as a raise of an eyebrow. I've been using Kiehl's Blue formula for years and it works great. Especially the astringent. But I feel like I have good skin and I'd attribute a lot of it to Kiehl's. It's not cheap, but it works, and for that I keep coming back. The store in UVillage is nice, just like every other Kiehl's everywhere. I will say that the one in San Francisco has people all over you giving you samples and stuff. I actually kind of like that, and it sort of makes me sad that they don't jump all over me with face creams when I come in but they're still nice. I've never had a problem there, and they offer to gift wrap or throw in some samples when you tell them you're buying a present. So go to Kiehl's, spruce up your skin, and get someone a fun, useful present. Not a book, books are terrible presents! read more

Much like with Aveda, if you walk by here and there are employees free, come inside and just start talking to them. I'm sure you can figure out what while you chat. I've been here a dozen times and about half of the time, I will leave because I can't get any help. Even if they see you waiting at the register to check out, they will stay with the customer AND check that person out before you. Kind of WTF...but I do like their products. They've been stingy with the samples. They used to just offer you whatever, and grab a handful. Now you have to ask for it, specifically and they will give you one thing. Kind of sucks, but it's the economy right? Thankfully I buy their men's gift set (facial fuel and the nice scrubby bar soap) which lasts for some time. I first groaned when I saw Kiehl's moving into the Village, more globalization and what now. I liked going to New York City for my fix. What can you say about a store that has a big bowl of water outside their door for dogs and yummy liver hearts inside the store. They also have a picture wall with different dogs that visit. My dog is on that wall because he loves this place. He loves their shampoo and I do too. Pricey, yes, but good stuff Maynard. My TH uses the grapefruit lotion religiously and I love the creme de corps lotion. We often buy great gifts here because what person would be bummed to get a box of fabulous lotions and soaps from Khiels? They do a very elegant wrapping job even at their busiest times. I also love them for their abundant samples. I know that I will never have to saunter down to the desk of the Westin and ask for shaving cream because their samples work for the TSA and for me. They also have a drive up option, you call, they have it ready for you. This is not something that I need to partake of, but its nice if you are in a hurry. read more

Nice big store, and my first stop on any University Village trip. Love Kiehl's products! My favorites are the Musk Shower Gel, (omg, it smells amazing and the light scent is not overwhelming to those around you) and the Ultimate Man Body Scrub Soap for those days when you feel like a great all over body scrub without having to have that moldy loofah sitting around in your shower! I also use the Midnight Recovery and the Powerful Strength Line Reducing Concentrate, and at age 50 constantly have people say how young I look and how amazing and soft my skin is. I am sold, a life-long Kiehl's fan for sure! read more

I use Kiehl's products and had purchased all my skincare from this company. This evening I stopped by to buy a gift card and noticed a new product which I am interested in trying out. Not knowing if this product would work with my skin, I had asked for a sample. Unfortunately, they are out of samples. I inquired if it is possible to make a small sample to try out the product and was rudely told they don't make samples. It is not a pleasant feeling as I am a paying customer who bought a gift card for a friend and was about to introduce a friend to this product. I was genuinely interested in trying the product and see if it works. Kheil 'S customer service is disappointing. I have never encounter that at Nordstrom or any Mac stores. read more

The staff here in this store are beyond unprofessional. They are totally disinterested in their products and rude to shoppers. I tried to reach out to the manager about it but she seemed just as flighty as the staff. Spoke to the regional manager he was pretty much useless as well. I would recommend heading to Aesop in Fremont for a truly wonderful experience. Kiehls products may be divine but having to purchase from this store or support the regional manager is any way is not worth it. Really Aesop is a way better bet. read more

I generally prefer to buy my Kiehl's products at their freestanding U Village store because they keep track of my purchases, thus enabling me to receive exclusive offers via mail. However, WHY ARE THEY SO STINGY WITH THE SAMPLES? They never used to be (that's how I got hooked on the stuff). Most recently, I went in with a mailer that entitled me for three free samples without purchase. I first asked for a sample of their latest product. Not available, I was told. She then offered to sell me a $42 bottle of it. I finally received one sample. What about my other two? Did I really have to ask for the other two? Come on - how do you expect to introduce your customers to new products? Luckily for me, their products last a long time....... read more

I love Kiehl's! I'm a new convert to the product line after visiting a friend in San Francisco and using her cleanser. I was suffering from a pretty bad breakout and waltzed into Kiehl's for a little TLC for my skin. The lady who helped me, I'm sorry her name is escaping me, was able to set me up with a 4 part system. Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol-Free Toner Acne Blemish Control Daily Skin-Clearing Treatment Ultra Facial Cream I've used this twice a day for the last month and have had the clearest skin I've had in years. She was able to go into detail on what was likely causing my breakouts and how their products would help. They have a 28 day return policy but my products will be staying with me. The only issue is that you need to go in willing to drop a pretty penny on this stuff but the bottles will last you a while. A month in I'm barely a quarter of the way through mine and some are going faster than others. This will help with the next purchase since it won't be dropping $130 every time I go in. read more

Love Kiehl's. Helps me part with my money. For dry dry dry girls, their moisturizers are wonderful. And they have usually been very generous with samples (although sometimes strangely not). I don't like traveling with a jar of moisturizer that is worth more than any of my jewelry - just give me a sample, please! Best tip: if you get Rudolph's red nose during cold season, coat it in Imperial Eye Balm. My only hope: that they will start making products like the Abyssian cream with higher SPFs so I can stay wrinkle free - I've had to switch because i need at least 30. read more

My mom likes Kiehl's. I like Kiehl's too. Their products work well -I've never been unhappy with a Kiehl's product. The store in U Village is clean, cheery, and stocked well. The staff is pretty friendly, however I would have liked more assistance, especially since I was looking for gifts. So docking a star for that. read more

TERRIBLE WEBSITE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE I attempted to order products on 11/25/18; the website was broken and would not accept 2 different credit card payments or even paypal payment. I attempted to send an email through the link on the website and even that wouldn't go through. I also called, but the phone number was just blank, and no one answered. I finally had to send an email complaint from my own email account (I have received no response to my email). Later, I find that there was a potential transaction on my paypal account. I went to the Kiehl's store and they said that I would need to call the customer service line (apparently there is nothing they can do to help me at the store). I finally get enough time available to call, explained my experience and was told that there will be no charge on my paypal account, since I did not receive an email confirming my order. I asked if she had any thoughts or comments about my experience and how their website wasted my time and inconvenienced me, and she said "would you like me to direct you to one of our stores where you can buy the products?" I laughed--because the fact that she did not AT THE VERY LEAST APOLOGIZE was completely ridiculous to me. I asked to speak to a manager and was told she will put in a request and that it will take 24-48 hours. She almost hung up the phone, until I asked "wait, do you need my phone number?" And yes, she needed that info (so was she going to disconnect call without getting my contact information? Again, ridiculous.) Needless to say, I will never buy Kiehl's ever again. read more

I have attempted to speak to someone at this location 3 times now. Teh last of which was today. The other 2 times, it was a Saturday and very busy. I looked around, decided not to wait to be helped and left. Today at 10:35 am, with 2 sales people and zero other customers, I still got no service. One sales person walked up to me within 1 minute, asked if she could help, then told me that is was her 1st day and that she couldn't really help with anything. She told me the other woman would be right over. Then they proceeded to have a 5-6 minute conversation while I waited. It didn't seem to bother them at all that I was waiting there, and finally I gave up and walked out. The more senior sales person seemed to decide to run over just as I was leaving, but too late. I hope they work on commission, because I was going to get the whole sun damage line, that is what I came in for, all 3 times... but since I will never go in there again, I guess someone else will get my money. (question, does it not seem strange that with the terrible unemployment rate and the terrible economy, everyone is all afraid of, that people would not bother to speak to their customers?) read more

Wearing white lab coat does NOT mean you have a Ph.D in retail!!!!!! The review is for the customer service not for the product. I've been using Kiehl's for five years. I would rather shop online (paying for shipping and waiting for an extra week to get the product) instead of shopping at this location. The shopping experience is the worst, I have never had a similar experience at Mac or Sophora. They are poorly trained and have 0 customer service and have very little understanding of their product. The salespersons are extremely rude to their customers. They are not offering samples unless I asked for, and they only give me two samples instead of three. The male salesperson only helps male customers and when I ask questions he seems extremely annoyed by the questions. When asked to return an item, they are really rude. The most frustrating thing is when they always ask if you are in their program and they can never get my name or e-mail correct. And they seem to be more frustrating than I am. If they hate their job and their customers so much, just quit the job!!!! They really need to be trained again!!!! I would rather shop online now even though the store is only 2 miles away from my apartment. read more

Every time I go here, I ask myself why did I go here again? I went here to make a purchase and noticed a number of new products. The person that first approached me showed me where I could find the product I needed. I asked for a sample of new mask products. She said there were none. I grabbed my product, went to the counter to make my purchase and another young woman rang me up. When I inquired as to samples of the new mask products, she gave me 3 different ones. I asked her name which she said was Ali. Neither of these women engaged with me. They did not ask me any questions about my interest in skin care, or demonstrate an interest in providing me with excellent service by providing me with information on skin care options for my age group; a senior citizen with beautiful skin. After Ali rang me up, she immediately went to an area in another "room" behind the register and sat on boxes while talking to another employee. I walked up and asked her for her assistance with some questions that I had about a product. She came out and answered my questions. I have sold cosmetics in my past. I was very disappointed at the lack of interest in promoting products and making valuable suggestions to a senior citizen with beautiful skin. I won't go back. read more

Great products, very helpfull staff and who doesn't love free samples?! I have also had a free mini-facial here and it was fun and informative, they helped me figure out what the best products are for my skin type and how to use them correctly. My skin looks great now and I have started using their hair and body stuff too. I like that it isn't super smelly like the Body Shop or Bath and Body Works.
