I finished up at work, ran a few errands, and by that point had absolutely no interest in cooking dinner. I'd driven past Kikko Ramen plenty of times, so I decided it was finally time to give it a try. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated, although the layout struck me as a little unusual. There's a tall counter running along one wall, an open ramen finishing area near the entrance, and a small bar tucked into the back. I learned the next day that the space had previously been a Firehouse Subs, which suddenly made the layout make a lot more sense. I could see three employees working during my visit. Service was efficient and reasonably quick, although not particularly attentive once I had my food. I ordered the spicy Kikko ramen with pork and chicken along with an order of egg rolls. The egg rolls were good and came with a carrot garnish, although I was expecting the carrots to be pickled and they weren't. The ramen was definitely the highlight. The broth was creamy, rich, and delicious, and the noodles had a good texture. The chicken started out a little dry, but interestingly improved as the meal went on and it had more time to soak up the broth. The pork was excellent--easily one of the better pieces of pork I've had in a bowl of ramen. The egg had good flavor and texture, although I was a little disappointed to find only half an egg. More importantly, the center was still slightly cold when I started eating. Overall, this was a very good bowl of ramen with a few minor execution issues. Next time I may actually let the bowl sit for a couple of minutes before digging in so all of the toppings have a chance to come up to temperature. I'll definitely be back, and next time I'll probably skip the chicken and see what else on the menu can compete with that pork. read more

Came here for ramen and ordered the veggie ramen. They do not serve ramen noodles so they should call the noodle soup something else. It's a tasty bowl of soup but certainly not ramen. You may get higher ratings if your customers are not expecting something and getting something else? The poke bowl was very good and came with a lot of sauce. Nicely portioned with avocado which was a nice touch. The shrimp tempura was ok, breading was not the right consistency. Perhaps consider changing the name to Kikko noodle house and poke? read more

This place is just awesome. There aren't enough good Asian-style restaurants in Victoria, and the food here is so good. Service is fast and friendly, and it's a spacious restaurant that's comfortable. Highly recommended. The Poke bowls are great and of course the ramen too . read more

Honestly the worst ramen I've ever had in my life. Came on a Saturday night and place was empty (should have taken the hint). Ordered the Thai tea and avocado tea and they were ok, nothing special. Had the bao bun, it was ok, could have had more meat. I had the spicy miso ramen and it was trash. The noodles were so weird, almost like spaghetti noodles and the flavor.... Horrible! There was none. Literally tastes like water with chili sauce in it. My chicken in it was cold. My husband's ramen also tasted watered down and his was more like a tease because it had a hint of wanting to be creamy but it was just water. Vibes were all off in there and the music would glitch. Came with my cousin for the first time and it was one of the better Asian restaurants that I've been to in the San Antonio area of Texas. Located in a small plaza near the intersection of Lasalle Crossing and N Navarro St, it is relatively easy to find, across the street from McD & Taco Bell. Already came twice and decided to give the accolades! We tried the beef bowl, chicken cutlet with fried rice, popcorn chicken (signature must have!), fried tofu, Takoyaki, and the poke. Amazing taste; the popcorn chicken is extremely well seasoned with crisp basil leaves (almost feel like back in Taiwan!), fresh raw fish sashimi for the pole bowl, as well as fantastically flavorful chicken cutlet, well cooked beef, plus delicious salad and cooked veggies. Even the drinks (iced tea) was great. The owner and staff offered attentive customer service, even remembering that I was military and gave us the military discount! Great new addition to the Victoria area! We've been a few times and had decent experiences each time, but it's been pretty inconsistent. I'd say that Kikko does great appetizers and ramen. I also get the original milk boba tea and like it a lot! It's my favorite in town. The boba pearls are a great texture and the milk tea isn't overly sweet. A+ in my book! The bento boxes and other dishes are usually a miss for me though. The one bento lunch I've liked was the curry chicken, but that's it. If you visit, I definitely recommend you get the jalapeño bombers. They're delicious! We've also loved the gyoza and steamed pork buns. read more

Ok I was looking forward for a good Japanese food because it said Japanese ramen. The ramen is a Chinese taste I rather make a cup a noodles that's how bad it is. Calamari it is soggy sauce sweet and sour is just the one you buy at Walmart. Service the lady that works there not friendly the moment you get in no greeting you will see grumpy lady. I went here for the first time and had a great experience! Started off with the fried jalapeño bombs and they were excellent. Crunchy panko, fresh jalapeño, cream cheese, and crab! We have had this place for a while in our town. Finally got to try it. We had spring rolls for an appetizer. Crunch of outer wrapper was amazing but inside was bland & watery. The ramen was very basic. The chicken wontons inside the wonton ramen were VERY strong tasting of chicken. Almost gross. I couldn't finish them. The broth was alright. Tasted like ramen from a bag but not as salty. The spinach was not a good thing to add. I pushed it to the side. We also tried the poke bowl w/ tempura shrimp. The shrimp breading was old & chewy. Cold. The spicy Mayo was super thick & gloopy & tasted bottled. I wasn't impressed at all. Seems like they just got lazy with ingredients or cheap. Service was ok at best. Dashed in with an undecided choice so I had both. Daughter ordered the edamame. The ramen was delicious. The meat and noodles, I forget what they are called, were ok. Noodles were sort of rubbery and the meat texture was similar to chewed up previously. Didn't care for that. Service was great. She was delightful even when my granddaughter left a mess on the floor. Just leaving this place. It's again and again the worst ever service from the lady. Don't ever ask her for water without ice, she will reign fire and brimstone from her eyes and her mouth. They have gone downhill. We went here when they first opened and the portion sizes were great and everything was on par, but this last time we ordered was a wreck. Both poke bowls we ordered were missing SEVERAL ingredients AND sauces. The shumai was basically a tater tot with shrimp flavor at $1 a tater. And the Kimchi had no flavor except a hint of plastic. The flavors that they did put in the poke bowls were ok, but they missed a bunch of the ingredients that we chose so I can't make a definite opinion because I couldn't taste what I ordered. My first time having poke and it did not disappoint! Everything was fresh and plentiful. Price is really good for the amount of food in the bowl. The decor is good and service is okay. I prefer friendly, but not over the top. She smiled when I walked in but no smiles at all when taking my order, bringing my food, nor when bringing the check. An audible "thank you" would have been nice. I still tipped well, as I almost always do. This might have been a 5-star review if not for the funky (sewer) smell there.
