Absolutely delicious hibachi! Highly recommend place! The staff and service were nice, we made reservations beforehand. One thing I didn't like about is you need to share with others if your party size is small. We ordered basically everything filet mignon, scallops, sirloin steak, lobster tails, shrimps and sashimi combo on the side. Really liked the ambiance for celebrations and the performance was great! :) I would 100% visit again!

Honestly I can't complain the food was super great but tell me how they didn't acknowledge our presence and also they decided to tell us the kitchen is closed and hour and 40 mins before closing time as we are eating asking us to leave AND ALSO they followed me and asked me for a 15% tip and that the 10% tip wasn't enough for just two " we didn't do the hibachi"

    Vanilla ice cream

PROS: the food was amazing and priced well with a strong variety on the menu. The staff is nice, they take reservations, loads of parking, and the best atmosphere of any hibachi restaurant CONS: believe it or not the only con I ran into was the dessert. They only have ice cream and they only give you one scoop OVERALL: 100% would come back here and I highly recommend you to come here too

The table in front of us got a chef within 20 minutes after we waited for an hour and a half. Do not come here

Absolutely awful service. We sat here with a 2 year old child and a toddler for an hour and a half with a hot grill and no service. The manager and waitstaff treated our party terribly. Do not come to this establishment, specifically if you are a person of color

Our empty grill after we've been sitting here for an hour and 15 minutes

The food was absolutely delicious everything we ordered was flavorful, fresh, and thankfully had no fishy taste at all. We really enjoyed every dish and left feeling completely satisfied. The ambiance was another highlight. The restaurant was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and it wasn't too loud, so we could actually relax, enjoy our food, and have a good conversation. It made the birthday celebration feel even more special and enjoyable. Overall, it was a great experience with good food, a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere, and wonderful company. Definitely a place we'd be happy to visit again!

The staff was friendly and welcoming, which made for a pleasant experience. Parking was convenient, with both street parking and municipal paid lots nearby. As for the food, I thought the sushi was okay. The salmon, scallop and tuna Nigiri were fresh and tasty . They were definitely one bites. The inari was pleasantly sweet, but the rice wasn't packed tightly enough into the fried tofu pocket. The loose, unfilled end made the texture a little off and less enjoyable. The futomaki didn't include the tobiko listed on the menu, which is a typical ingredient in this roll. It also lacked much flavor, so I probably wouldn't order it again. The Unagi was very good. My daughter said I don't eat eel. We also ordered the seafood tempura, which included shrimp, lobster, scallops, and vegetables. The seafood had a light, crisp tempura batter that I enjoyed. The vegetables were less impressive, as the batter was thicker and lacked the delicate, airy texture and crispness in a tempura that which they achieved with the seafood. My daughter ordered the pork katsu curry. The pork was fried nicely and came in a generous portion. The Japanese curry sauce was lighter than what we've had at other restaurants, which she actually preferred. Both entrées were served with miso soup and salad and were good. Most Japanese restaurants you get either or so kudos for giving both. They don't have a full-service bar, but they do offer beer, wine, and sake. Overall, the service and atmosphere were enjoyable, overall I found some bites better than others. The meal was really better than a three but not quite a four too bad you can't give half cause it's definitely a solid 3.5

As many of you know I am cultured. I'm seasoned. In age and in ethnicity. Lightly seasoned? Sure…read more But seasoning nonetheless? Depends who you ask. Oh Desdemona, how unlucky you were. Oh Yelp, how lucky I am. How lucky I always am. How lucky I was to stumble upon Hawaii Japanese Cuisine on the ever industrious Warburton Ave. Saturday Farmers Market. Meredith's Bakery. Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Bread. If you know you know. Anyways. Out in Waikiki I learned to appreciate Poke. I once appreciated Pokemon. What's Politoed up to these days. Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly depending on your grasp of history, Poke is actually a Hawaiian dish. Japanese inspired, of course, but that's why the name of this spot is quite unique (although not catchy). Catch of the day. Rack of the day. So how'd I get here? You ask? ASK ME. Fine! I'll answer. Calm down, needy much? I'm an active guy. I participate in activities. Typically solo, I'm riding solo I'm riding solo solooooo. Man, just imagine walking down the city streets with a Walkman in blasting Les Miz. The dream. Anyways. I just got back from the island life and I was craving some fresh fish, at a sizable size with some balance of fruit, veggies, sauce and quantity for a beautiful price. And I just so happened to be running myself into the ground at the track in Irvington. Or was it that low-lying track in Hastings. The bees. The bumblebees. Maybe the hornets. It was Irvington. The bulldogs. Grrrrrr. I just ran myself into the ground. Sprints for about an hour. Bad hammy. Few months later tore the calf while calfmaxxing. Probably related. First muscle injury in a spinning dixie, gotta have muscles to injure them? Not really but that's what I'll tell myself. So I rip the farmers market. Then I rip the soosh spot, ordered online. Walked in, handsomely. Very friendly and respectful and nice staff and have been everytime I've gone since. The weight of the food in hand was ridonk so I was optimistic. I also got a few desserts down the road. Some hardbody that was completely eyeing down my grass-fed grass-finished hog at the track was somehow now across the street drinking a protein smoothie. My aura stinks of grandeur, but I avoid it. I'm taken lady. Did she follow me? Gross. What a joke. Really put things into perspective. I'm a fat slob, a professional self sabotager. But I work hard for this fat and that's what makes me a special boy. Hawaii Japanese Cuisine has the best poke in the area. They never let you down. I never let you down. Benvolio. As your voice of reason, I reason you to give it a go. A humble hero in Hastings.

This review, though, is all about their omakase experience. As always, the service was exceptional. The owner and staff are incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely make you feel like a valued guest. The only reason this wasn't a perfect 10/10 had nothing to do with the restaurant. It's a small, intimate space, and unfortunately another table had a baby who cried throughout much of the meal. Not the restaurant's fault at all, but it's something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quiet omakase experience. Now for the food, the omakase was fantastic. I won't go through every course because part of the fun is the surprise, but what really stood out was the fish-to-rice ratio. Every piece was generously topped with beautifully fresh fish instead of being overloaded with rice, which I absolutely loved. Each bite was thoughtfully prepared, incredibly fresh, and full of flavor. Dessert was another pleasant surprise. Instead of the usual ending you get at many sushi restaurants, they served matcha ice cream topped with sweet red bean paste and pieces of mochi. It was unique, refreshing, and the perfect finish to the meal. Overall, I'll definitely continue coming back, not just for the omakase, but for their regular menu as well. If you're an omakase fan or looking for a quality sushi experience without breaking the bank, this place is absolutely worth a visit.

Pay attention to the 5 star reviews. Those are legit. We go in person because they often give us complimentary appetizers, which have included blue fin, king salmon and others in creative and delicious arrangements. Our favorite menu items include: sushi deluxe, tricolor sushi, heat roll. However, the sashimi is the best part- fatty tuna, yellowtail and salmon are the best. And they've converted me on fluke and kingfish.

The Miso Soup, on the other hand, was quite watery... I'm a Miso Soup snob and fairly picky, but this one could use some real help. The salad was actually worse. Some lettuce with a little blob of carrot ginger dressing on it. I got some stuff to-go... my wife and I didn't like the calamari dish (tastes funny), I love the flavor of the beef ribs but it was way too chewy, my wife said Pork Gyoza was very good. The edamame could use some salt IMO. I liked the Chilean Sea Bass too, though I'm glad it was an appetizer. It wasn't the kind of prep that I would want a lot of. Something happened during lunch that kind of disturbed me, though. A tall, lanky Black gentlemen wearing a construction vest walked in. I vaguely heard him asking for Chinese food. The staff told him that it's Japanese food, and be could find Chinese right over on Main Street. They repeated this once or twice, but the man kept asking something. I thought I heard "what did is this? What do you have? What is it?" The staff person kind of brushed him off, motioned to the door and was done with him. He looked incredibly frustrated and it was one of those moments when I wondered if I should have just walked out. The staff saw that I noticed this, and spoke to me about it a couple of times. She claims he was demanding free food. I understand that she was busy. I get that people come in from the street and they can be a pain in the ass. I also acknowledge that she was a small Asian female and may have felt intimidated. But the interaction felt kind of racist, to be honest. It felt like she was very quick to dismiss him, show him the door. I get that this man was unlikely to become one of her better customers... granted. But I don't like the way he was treated, regardless. I would consider returning, but I hope they will consider how that treatment feels to another person.
