Great service and ambiance! They called me prior to my reservation to see if I wanted a lei at my table ($20 additional charge), and I loved that attention to detail. Obviously I got the lei! I celebrated my birthday here and the waitress brought me a to-go dessert free of charge. My filet was cooked perfectly. The Mai Tai was great. The String Beans were great! I have tried to recreate them at home. I loved the lemon aioli that came with the crab cakes. The only thing I disliked were the cucumbers, as they lacked flavor. Everything else was perfection. I will be returning during my next trip to Kauai.

Food: The food was incredible. The appetizers we ordered--green beans and crab cakes--were great, and our main entrees were delicious. The portions are smaller than what you'd find at a typical restaurant. 4.5/5 Ambiance: The view from our table was stunning, overlooking the ocean. 5/5 Service: Every staff member you encounter is friendly! 5/5 Drink: I read the reviews claiming they had the best Mai Tai, and they weren't wrong; it was amazing! I was on a mission to try as much local coffee as possible, and I've never been to a restaurant that serves you a single French press! 5/5

We made reservations at the beach house for dinner set the time so we could watch the slow sunset while finishing our meal. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. Our waitress review some highlights from the menu and we ordered a before meal cocktail. I had the scallops (yum) and salad. Great food service and beautiful location for sunset viewing.

I had heard great things about The Beach House in Kauai. The sunset views, the food, and the vibe. However, I was not expecting what I got. Our waiter was above amazing. Giving us everything and more that we asked for. The view was one of the best sunsets I have ever experienced. Oh, and the food was delightful. I started with their signature Monkeypod Mai Tai to go with my appetizer. The Mai Tai ha Kula Organic Silver and Dark Rums, Fresh Lime Juice, House Made Macadamia Nut Orgeat, Orange Curacao, and Honey Lillikoi Foam. We had the house made focaccia that was beyond heavenly. And then the Coconut Shrimp that had Coconut Sauce, Ginger, Garlic, Jalapeno Relish, Cilantro and Lime. For my main I went with the Seared Ahi Steak that was served with Jalapeno Mashed Potatos, Chili Broccoli, and a Soy Sesame Maui Onion Sauce. To close out the meal I had an Espresso Martini made with House Made Cold Brew Extract, Pau Vodka, Local Koloa Coffee Rum, and Vanilla Bean Syrup. The dessert was a magnificent Coconut Creme Brulee with House Made Ginger Snap Cookies. ___________

Yes, yes, yes! This place is amazing. This was my second time here and it is now a staple when on island. To be fair, I love pretty much all the "monkey pod/Merriman" restaurants. (This one may have the most challenging parking so prepare to valet or look for a spot. The valet will send you a link to pay digitally which is nice) Love the Beach House though. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with aloha and the vibes are high. The views are amazing. Highly recommend coming at sunset but to do so you'll most likely need a rezi in advance. Aside from all that the food is delicious and a mai tai is a must!

They have very good food in this place. The waitress was kind and took care of a side every turn. You're sitting right there by the crashing of the waves, and the atmosphere does not get any better than that. We had a nice family meal, and we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit in that place. The drinks were awesome as well.

3.5 stars. Absolutely stunning view from the restaurant with a fantastic view of poipu beach. Definitely dine at sunset or grab drinks. Had a Lovely table inside but was right at the border of the open window to outdoors. Make sure to come With a full wallet though-the food is definitely spendy which doesn't equate to value/taste IMO. I had the seafood pasta which was 70$, unfortunately served chilly because of cold goat cheese in the pasta. I wasn't a fan. But other dishes were decent and the service was kind! Come for the view, maybe just drinks?

Good- The view and surfers, parrots coming home at the end of the evening, the house mai tai, the crab cakes and green beans. The filet mignon was excellent. Bad- Szechuan cucumber salad disappointing and way overpriced, there was a wait to our table without enough seating, unusually slow service, truly under seasoned beet salad. Summary-All in all, someplace that is quite expensive but a one time visit for many other reasons besides the cost.

Seared Ahi with jalapeño mashed potatoes

Recommended by a total stranger in an airport--and it absolutely did not disappoint. This place is definitely pricey, but worth every single penny. We ordered the Keiki Chicken, Macadamia Nut Crusted Fresh Hawaiian Fish, Seared Ahi Steak, and Filet Mignon. All were excellent choices, but I highly recommend the Seared Ahi. The sauce served on the side is absolutely mouth-watering, and the jalapeño mashed potatoes were unreal. My only regret is waiting until our last day on the island to eat here, because I 100% would've come back a second time. It was a bit loud, but that was expected based on other reviews, so it didn't bother us. We had an 8:00 PM reservation, but were offered bar seating if we could find space--and surprisingly, they accommodated all five of us (kids included), likely due to how busy they were. We ended up snagging five bar seats and enjoyed dinner an hour earlier than planned. The ambiance is lively, with beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces. Just note that if it's raining (which happens often), indoor seating may be your only option. Bottom line: don't pass up a meal here--you won't regret it. Just make sure you plan financially. For reference, our meal for five (2 kids, 3 alcoholic drinks) came out to around $400 with tip. Worth it.

This restaurant is located right on the beach with tables situated out on the grass facing the ocean. The perfect spot for a sunset photo, the best Mai Tai in Hawaii, by Hawaii Life magazine. Book ahead as it is a very popular spot especially around happy hour from 3:30-4:30! We came early and sat at the bar and watched the sunset. What we had: Crab cakes to start. Came hot out of the pan with a side of watercress, orange slices and tomatoes. The crab cakes were delicious and not full of fillers! Main- lobster and fish pasta A mixture of mahi mahi and ahi tuna as well as half a lobster and one claw's worth of meat mixed in! It was fantastic! Service is great and you can't beat the ocean front dining. Generous portions it was worth the $$$$ for fresh seafood and great service. Albeit you're also paying for the views but if you've never enjoyed a Hawaiian dinner by the ocean you must try this gem!

Last year when we went to Kauai, my husband's parents came along. They asked us if we go to The Beach House. We had never been, despite it being directly across the street from our condos. They go to Maui every year, and they love the Monkeypod. Since both restaurants are owned by the same company, they wanted to go over for "the best" Mai Tais in Hawaii. We went over for Happy Hour. (Literally ONE hour every day, 3:30-4:30pm.) Happy hour Mai Tais (cocktails) are $4 off ($17 HH price). Pupus are $5 off. (We got potstickers $20 HH price.) Beers are $2 off ($10 HH price). So while the prices are on the high end (even happy hour) it is Hawaii so that is to be expected! Now every time we go to Kauai, The Beach House is on the itinerary! (We average 2 visits every trip!) The atmosphere and vibe is unmatched! It is right on the ocean. Beautiful views, especially at sunset! We love The Beach House!

Overall this place is good, but nothing to write home about (in terms of the food / drink). Our server, Chad, was lovely and made the experience delightful! The macadamia crusted fish was pretty good overall, just overpriced (by a lot) so I think in terms of value, this place perhaps isn't the best. That said, it's gorgeous right on the water so that's a nice touch. It's definitely a tourist spot so if you're visiting and want a nice sunset, it's a good spot for that. The cocktails were very mid at best. Overall I definitely wouldn't advise against this place (in the sense that it IS pretty and the service is nice and they're super accommodating) but the food and drinks are just pretty average for the very high price you pay.

Great food!! Beautiful views!!!! We had a great server Mike! Super personal and very friendly.

On Open Table you can request Bar with ocean facing or standard. Which would give you the best view of the ocean? From the photos, the bar area is a little pushed back from the windows.

You are correct the bar is pushed back so it's better to sit closer to the window in regular tables The bar has some ofean facing has views, but you get better views of the ocean if you sit at the tables that are right next to the windows.

Do they ever have live music in evenings?

When I was there on the 4th of July there was no live music. I have been there several times and did not hear any live music.

Can you order food at the bar?

    Yes

Required attire are shorts permitted with flip flops and button down shirt?

Yes, I called the restaurant they said yes and then me and the family showed up in our shorts, T-shirt's & flip flops. Most everyone was casual but it was a mixture of fancy clothes & casual street wear.

Now that the fabulous Peter Merriman is an owner of the restaurant, has the food and service risen to his wonderful standards?

My opinion differs from the other answer, I actually think yes. All of the proteins are locally sourced, the menu is streamlined right now because of covid with problems with availability and also a smaller kitchen crew, but the are consistently… Read more

Anybody know what their happy hour entails? Like what discount and what is discounted?

    What is the dress?

It can be just about anything, Nice shorts and shirt all the way to a suit. Make reservations so you are there for sunset.

Does this place sell gift cards online or over the phone?

I would assume so. If you are buying a gift card, you are going to make someone happy. Tell them to make reservations an hour or so before sunset.

Is it really not good for kids? Even if we come in the afternoon? Or sit outside when open?

They are very accommodating and welcome families but it is pricey. The atmosphere is very friendly not stuffy. I booked a reservation during sunset, which is the best time to go.

The chicken had a nice flavor and was nice and hot when it was served. The food was good, but not worth waiting over an hour in my opinion. You can make your own judgments, depending on how much time you have. We stopped by Leong's in Coconut Marketplace on a Sunday, which may have had something to do with the service. Plus, Kauai is a very small island and I was not expecting big city service speeds. However, it did take over an hour for us to get our food. That seems long, even for a small restaurant on a small island. We got to the restaurant and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table; not an issue. Once we got seated, we got water and coffee very quickly; not an issue. But when a large table (that was seated since we got to the restaurant) got their food after we had been waiting for 30 minutes, we started to get a little worried. The whole restaurant experience lasted about an hour and a half, and only about 20 minutes of that was eating. There were only two human waitstaff (and one robot which seemed kind of cool but mostly like an inconvenience to the workers), so I can understand somewhat. We also may have felt more pressured because we had to be somewhere after lunch.

The wedge salad was a large piece with crisp bacon, candied pecans, grape tomato halves and a tasty dressing. It only needed some red onion to make it perfect. Of course, as is the cost of all food in Kauai, the prices were really high for the quantity given. They charge $14 for four potstickers so we did not get those. We opted for the Larb chicken and the Thai basil chicken which we requested spicy, actually very spicy and it came out totally mild. They brought us some garlic chili oil which was nearly rancid. The flavor of the Thai basil chicken was really good though with lots of wok hay. The quantity of the larb chicken was at least twice as much as the Thai basil chicken. It was milder, but it was still tasty. They also serve sushi rolls however I'm not quite at the point of feeling comfortable paying $25 for one roll of sushi. We were seated by the window on a cool, rainy night but were perfectly dry the whole evening. On top of that, our server was very helpful in guiding us to order the right amount of food. He brought us a serving of edamame which is always on the house. The shrimp & pork potstickers were very good. I had the ramen which was tasty, filling and a great choice. Our server was terrific to put the spicy oil on the side which made it easier for me to eat. My husband had the butterfish which is the best I have ever tasted. It is a signature dish and always a pleaser. The only real downside is the limited menu. We were told that because of a staff shortage, it wasn't the typical menu. This was disappointing. But they did have the best of the Roy's dishes. So far, it has been the best experience that we have had in Poipu.

My family and I went here for dinner and the waiter was great! He was very thorough explaining all…read moreof the dishes. Unfortunately, the pastry chef was not there that night but there is a great ice cream shop near by! This restaurant is great for hosting large parties as there were several including our own. I ordered the spicy ramen. I have a lower tolerance for spicy food but thought this was pretty mild. It's a 4/10 on the spice scale. It was so good and the serving size was very large, I would definitely order again!!
